I really hate to give a three star rating especially since the food itself was good. The reason for the 3 stars is primarily because they forgot an order of fries in our take out order. Granted it's not a big deal however when you pay for item you should receive that item. The amount of staff who were working which was plentiful and because they weren't so busy at the time, I would've expected the order of fries to be in the bag. Yes I should've checked it myself but when the food was brought out the manager, I believe, even repeated the order to me. I guess he just read the receipt without checking inside the bag. When I told the Mister there was a Shake Shack about 5 miles from his work he was ready to clock out. Have no expectations here. Do not compare it to the other places. It will just drive you crazy. I am a Californian so I am bias when it comes to which coast the burger comes from. These burgers are hand made, the ingredients are fresh. Don't get me wrong, they are good. But, either your going to love them or not love them. The crinkle fries are good. Even better with cheese and bacon. Shake Shack is a popular burger chain from the east coast that has been taking over the west coast. But there are still none in OC, so this is one of the closest locations for me. The parking lot can get tight since it's next to Tender Greens and other businesses. This location is spacious and modern with lots of natural light. There are TVs and even a foosball table to keep you entertained. Everyone raves about the burgers, but they've also got a crispy chicken sandwich, hot dogs, crinkle fries, shakes and frozen custard. The ShackBurger ($5.69) is a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, shack sauce and optional raw onions or pickles on a potato bun. It's a good burger, but nothing that special. The 'Schroom Burger ($7.49) is what sets them apart for me. It's their version of a veggie burger using a breaded, fried portobello mushroom filled with melty cheese. It's cheese heaven! If you don't want to give up the meat, the Shack Stack ($10.69) has a meat patty and the portobello. Their Crinkle Cut Fries ($3.09) are pretty good fries. They came out crisp and hot. You can even get them with cheese sauce and bacon for an extra charge. If you like lemonade, you should try theirs. It's freshly squeezed and sweetened with their own simple syrup. It's not too sweet and tastes like lemons. It's strange that it only comes in small ($2.89) and large ($3.69) sizes though. I like that they use quality products like hormone free meat and free range chicken, but it's still pricey for a simple burger and fries. You can say that food is great at a restaurant when you notice most of the patrons parked in the parking lot are eating burgers and fries with the Shake Shack label inside their car (of course thanks to covid) despite having many other restaurants around in the same lot. I'm sorry but this place really didn't meet the hype that I heard about it. I came here after dropping off family at LAX and was looking forward to it because there aren't any Shake shacks near me. I heard a lot of good reviews saying that it was better than in n out and the burgers were top notch. It is about $7 just for the burger so a bit pricey for fast food. I got the burger and the hot chicken. Honestly, neither tasted amazing. They reminded me of jack in the box or Wendy's. Also, the food wasn't really warm. They did forget to put cheese on our burgers but they fixed the problem quickly. I like the burger patties, they are kinda like crumbly if that makes sense. This is one of the BEST Shake Shack locations in LA. Came here because they offer outdoor patio seating and I wanted to try the new hot chicken sandwich FRESH on the spot. There is no argument--the food from Shake Shack is bomb and the hot chicken sandwich certainly did not disappoint. I heard they hand bread and fry each piece of chicken to order (wow!). I got it EXTRA spicy and it had a good kick. The hot cheese fries are also bomb and I enjoyed them more than the regular. I love that you can enjoy a beer with your meal (something the competition does not offer). The Shakemeister ale is always bomb and I'm loving the new summer lager, which is great for those (like me) who prefer a lighter beer. What makes this location particularly special is the SERVICE. My table was checked on several times while I was eating to ensure the order was correct, the food tasted good, and to make sure I didn't need any extra sauce and utensils. The manager herself, Symphony, was outside checking on customers and making sure everyone was enjoying their food. I wish my manager at work would step up like this! Another staff member, Elvis, was outside the entire time cleaning and sanitizing tables. I felt very safe and comfortable with the outdoor dining experience here. First time here and we ate at other Shake Shack but this is the first time we cane here. We waited about 15 minutes for our food to come out. We didn't mind the wait but off the start there were no avocado and bacon in our chicken sandwiches. I got up to complain but my kids asked me to let it go. I've been hearing the raves about Shake Shack for a long time so made it my mission to eat here while running an errand in the area. This location is in a small plaza of eateries called Apollo Landing. The parking lot is far too small but not to worry, a block behind it is a parking structure with numerous spots reserved for customers. The interior is modern with lots of wooden slat seating and a patio area as well. Holy cow, they keep this place spotless! Cleanliness is obviously a point of pride. Staff were quick and friendly. You order at the register, are handed a pager, then pick up your food at the main counter when ready. I ordered a double Shackburger (cheeseburger with tomato and lettuce plus sauce), crinkle cut fries and a coffee milkshake. Five minutes later my meal was ready to consume. The burger was delicious. Admittedly it is greasy and messy, the fresh bun barely able to hold it all together. Although I was there for lunch I think this would be the ultimate late night burger. The fries were perfection - soft and hot inside with a ever-so-slight crunch to the exterior. The coffee shake was one of the better ones I've had although it was definitely sweet (my personal preference is to have the shadow of bitterness from the coffee roast outshine the sweetness...but I know this is nitpicking). No argument that Shake Shack serves one of the better fast food burgers. Update - I gave Shake Shack a 2nd try, thanks to some reachout by their customer service team. I'm glad I did because I had a very different experience the 2nd time. The first time I came here I ordered a regular Shack Burger, lettuce wrapped because I don't do bread on my burgers. It was good, but not great as I noted in my first review. This time I ordered the Smoke Shack - double - lettuce wrapped. The Smoke Shack has bacon, cheese, and roasted peppers. I took one bite of it and was in love. It was sooo freaking good. I loved every bite. Also, they win my vote for most fun fries and shakes. The crinkle cut fries are nostalgic. You can put hot sauce on them too. I would love to come back and try the hot dogs. The ambience is good here too, nice seating with foos ball and shuffle board. Also TVs with sports. My kids and husband prefer Shake Shack over In-n-Out --- for what it's worth. I like both, and I think they're very different. You will get more variety and more for the foodies at the Shack. In-n-Out is a California Classic. They're both good for what they are known for! There's also enough TVs there if you're trying to watch the game too. For reference I've had the single, the double, the mushroom burger and the shack-cago dog and their fries. They do have a hand sanitizer dispenser in the waiting area. It can get pretty packed here, but they do limit the amount of people sitting on the patio. The burger here is a pretty solid burger. My go to is the smoke shack and I typically will wrap it in lettuce. I'm sure it's better on a bun, but I love when you have the opportunity to not have to indulge in as many carbs. Still a great burger on lettuce! I also had an order of the cheese fries, I love a good crinkle fry. Could have left the cheese off. Overall this is a good burger and I love the size of it. More pricier than In N Out, Shake Shack definitely cannot be compared. Why? Because of the ambience they are providing. In N out is more of a fast food joint while Shake Shack sells alcohol and has a more casual dine in feel with a foosball table. I usually get the shack burger with fries. I LOVE their coffee shake. Get this if you love shakes but don't want something that is overly sweet. The coffee shake is supposedly the least sweet shake on the menu. The burgers are definitely more pricey (some more than double) but you get more variety. The hubby loves the shroomburger. Also, my friend once got a side of peanut butter and dipped her burger in it. Interesting combination? And YES you can get burgers protein style. The fries with cheese and bacon are OK. It's almost twice the price of regular fries and IMO not worth it. Stick to the regular fries and pay a little more for your burger. Parking in Apollo landing is plentiful. Why is the rating mediocre for this location? What is wrong with LA people?! This Shake Shack is a beautiful wonder of a thing! I began my love affair with Shake Shack a decade ago in a NYC park (MSP, baby!) And my love for it continues in the west coast expansion of it. Now I can enjoy shroom burgers more than just once a year! I'm not sure when they opened this location but it seems very new. The interior is spacious and full of cute plants and the same tables and chairs that are consistent with all locations. I like the laid back CA feel of this particular one. The girl at the register was super friendly in a genuine way and my midday "treat yo'self to an artery clogging meal" was everything I could have hoped for and more. I finally got to try the special "apple pie oh my" shake and it was a little on the sweet side. I know, I know. What was I expecting? But still. Not my cup of tea. After 2 burger experiences here, I can say that the burger is sorta smaller and dinkier than In N Out. The special sauce is more like a flavorless mayo. Everything just tastes murky and not as fresh, despite the long lines outside the establishment even during COVID. The crinkle fries are really good, but make sure to double check that they gave you ketchup because they missed it for one of my orders. We also got the cookies and cream milkshake, which really just tastes like Oreos and ice cream--yum! Personally I won't return. The restaurant is large and looks great. I just don't like the burger compared to Five Guys. I spent $20.27 for a shack burger and a smoke shack one fries one small drink. They is way too much a fast food burger lunch for two. The patty tastes good but is much smaller than Five guys. The bun is soft and almost like sweet Hawaiian bread. But it is also a little too much bread bun not enough meat and I prefer sesame seed buns. The crinkle fries are good but you get so much more at Five guys. Also no free drink refill station which is lame because everyone else gives feee refills. For parking you probably need to use the garage around the corner because the lot is small. My favorite thing about this Shake Shack location is the patio! There are many shaded benches to choose from, and the experience is generally pleasant. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was BUSY. The parking lot was almost full, there were kids shouting and screaming everywhere, and we were hungry. To be fair, these types of restaurants are family friendly and this is an appropriate place for children to behave with playful and chaotic tendencies. Still, they were all polite enough and it was easy to enjoy our meal. I am not complaining - just warning people with noise sensitivities.
