Love it here. We've eaten in restaurant and the food is amazing but we order delivery more often. Recently ordered via app and called to request a side of herb mayo for my fries and extra coleslaw for my spicy chicken sandwich. I loved Shake Shack in NY, so me and my boyfriend went to get some here in SD. Parking lot is pretty tight (but better than nothing!) and luckily during COVID, it wasn't too packed. There was a line outside and it went by quickly. There's an option to sit inside but they do contact tracing here, I believe. We sat in the spacious outdoor patio and it was nice. We both ordered the Shack Stack burger because we wanted the mushroom and the burger patty without having to get two sandwiches each. It was super good! The mushroom was filled with cheese and crispy on the outside. It gave the burger such a nice texture. I just wish there was more flavor. I got kinda over it by the last few bites. Maybe if they put onion (or I request it next time), that might amp it up. Their fries are good too. I asked for a dusting of their chili powder seasoning and it helped. Staying at a hotel a few blocks away so decided to take a night stroll in Little Italy and ended up here. The family have never had Shake Shack so they were excited, hubby even ordered a hot dog along with his double bacon burger. But here in Little Italy when it does get busy you can order fast and quick on tablet screens to make things easier and find a seat with ease. It's pretty much the same menu. I dig the crinkle cut fries options. With cheese or with bacon and cheese. Whatever you fancy crinkle cut fries is always good. Shakes or custard? For the classic shakes you can add whip cream or make it malted. I like the Shack Attack. All the other locations I have been to has always been chaotic, cramped and or just a long line moving as fast as a yoga pose. So it's weird I have all the leg room I could ever want and I can actually sit and enjoy a conversation. Other locations don't allow you taking pics especially their custard machine (boo on NYC). This location is open to Yelpers doing our reviews. YAY!! Shake Shack Little Italy was super chill when we came in. But then again we came during what Italians refer to as riposo time. I've been to a few Shake Shacks and liked this one. It's in a very busy area of Little Italy near San Diego. All orders are through a screen which is simple enough. Once you add alcohol though it gets really annoying, I got one beer and the screen said someone was supposed to come over and check my ID but no one came over so I walked over to the counter and all the employees are busy doing something else. It took a while to flag someone down to show my ID to be OKed and pay. That one beer consistently screwed with our order too because once our food was ready they forgot the beer so I had to wait again. We got one shake stack which was what you can usually expect from SS and the fries were OK. I think if you must get fries without cheese is the way to go. Their beer was surprisingly good. This location miraculously has a decent sized dedicated parking lot and lots of outdoor seating. The line does get pretty crazy though so prepare and don't order alcohol if it's really busy. read more

Definitely competitive with the classic Double-Double. The crinkle fries (photo attached) were rated better than the fries at INO by the majority of my table, so give Shake Shack a win in that category (you can also add cheese to these). The nuggets were mediocre, so just don't order them; this is a burger place, after all. This place is definitely comparable to Five Guys (probably a tad bit better) and Burger Lounge (probably a tad bit worse), but to each his/her own. Stopped here while walking around downtown San Diego . Overall the food was really good but I would have to say that all the kiosks that you order from need to be clear with what comes on the burger , we had ordered double cheeseburger , grilled chicken sandwich and regular cheeseburgers which some came with everything on them and some without . Now I was able to go back to the counter and get all the toppings but still was a wait in the line just to do that. The other thing is pricing they do seem a little high on some of there items but atleast it is good quality food . I am not one to typically go for franchise places - but j decided to give this a try since it was rainy and as good san die fans everyone stayed in. I went about 7pm and there was no line - which was nice. There is a way to order from IPads but I decided to do it "old school" and get the counter service . We tried the classic cheeseburger - shack burger and it was LOVELY. Perfectly cooked and I even want to say it melted a bit in my mouth. We got the cheese and bacon fried and those were not as GREAT. So if you're not in the mood for too much nacho cheese - no need to get these. Shakes will be on my next visit's menu. STAFF is attentive and there is plenty of them. We were in the area and decided to try this spot. In all honesty to sum it up, I rather have in n out. The spot is nice and clean, however not worth the money for these burgers. I tried the shake shack and it's just an overly fried burger. I had to remove the fried mushroom just to get through the burger. The fries are not fresh and taste like frozen and deep fried.
