45 minute wait to order/receive food... the burger was decent (nice soft buns, juicy meat) but there are far better burgers in the city. Also, the burger was a little on the small size for a higher than expected price. You're paying for the commodity basically. If the wait wasn't so ridiculous every time I walk past, I'd certainly try it again. I guess this place just didn't meet my expectations. Also, why is this place tagged as "Korean" in Yelp Reviews? We tried Shake Shack on the recommendation of friends and family. We beat the lunch crowd so we were able to score a table right away. I had a cheeseburger and my husband had the Shack burger and we split an order of cheese fries. The burgers were good. Buns are my number one complaint and these were tender, airy and suited the meat well. In the world of fast food burgers I still rank In-N-out higher, but I did like Shake Shack better than Five Guys. The fries were crisp, but there was something off with the cheese, it was very artificial tasting. We should've stuck with regular ole ketchup. read more

Shake Shack is AWESOME. For shorter lines, or at least a long line indoors go to the one near Port Authority. Of course I could be wrong because I visited each one at different times of the day and during different seasons. We both had a single Shack Burger and shared cheese fries, a chocolate shake and a coke. Service was fast and good. The cheese sauce was real cheese sauce, not the fluorescent orange crap you get with nachos at the movies (do they have this in America?). While portions do look small, we were comfortably stuffed. The chocolate shake was alright. The burger was EXCELLENT and I dreamt about it for two whole seasons before my next visit to NYC. Seating is a crapshoot, it's much better to take your meal to Central Park and have a picnic at the Shakespeare Garden. Oh so romantic! read more

For some reason we got there and the line was only a few people deep...I guess we got lucky because 15 minutes found a seat in the basement and sat down it got super crowded!! We got a burger, hot dog and a concrete. The burger was pretty good, not the best I've had, but definitely a tasty burger. The bun was a little sweet and toasty and held the burger together pretty nicely. The hot dog was whatever...I'm not a huge fan of hot dogs but I guess it was good - I'm not a huge fan of sauerkraut either so maybe thats why I wasn't that impressed. The fries were eh.. The malted chocolate concrete however...was really good! Very thick and had a nice creamy bite to it (if that makes sense) which is what I expected since they called it a concrete! I was really full after the burger but you know...theres always room for dessert and we finished that thing before it even got a chance to melt! I love the location of the joint, its just a block away from central park so you can stroll away the rest of the day.. read more

Yum, Yum, Yum. Now I see what all the fuss is about and why the lines are never ending for this place. I only wish I had discovered it sooner. The burgers are really tasty. Simple, flavorful, and sure to hit the spot. The cashier kindly let me try a sample of their frozen custard since I didn't order one and she could see how pained I was about it. One word for the frozen custard - AWESOME. Honestly, if you are looking for fast food, why stop in at a McDonald's or BK? It just doesn't compare. Shell out a couple extra bucks and get fast food done right. I will be back again and again. read more

Stopped in here on a whim when going to central park. We ordered the chick n shack 2 w no mayo and one regular all with fries. When we got our order the fries were cold and one of the sandwiches that was supposed to not have mayo had mayo on it. The table was dirty we had to clean it ourselves even though they had 2 people standing there supposedly to clean them. The prices are high for a place that is subpar to chick-fil-a. This is not a place that we will be returning to however they have a ton of business and stay busy. read more

I unfortunately think this is one of the worst Shake Shacks in the city. :( My boyfriend and I were craving Shake Shack, and we decided to try this location since we were in the area. We usually go to the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. So what was disappointing? 1. My Shroom Burger: it was kind of cold and you could tell that the burger was sitting out for some time, even though my boyfriend picked it up right away. The mushroom was a bit soggy, and the melted cheese (which I usually love and look forward to as a guilty pleasure) was rubbery from sitting out too long. I'm not terribly picky, but it was not a very enjoyable experience. At all. 2. Lack of space: it's Manhattan, space is limited. I get it. I'm usually happy squeezing in a random spot or going outside. But the fact that there were at least three tables where people were just sitting there to claim a spot (with no food) and other people (with food) were trying to find a spot to finish their food did not leave a good impression with me. I get that's not Shake Shack's fault, but it certainly didn't help the experience. The staff, however, were very friendly! Overall, I probably wouldn't go back unless I am really desperate for a Shake Shack burger (and even then, I probably have to think twice). read more

A food burger, yes. Comparable to In-N-Out, NO! It was recommended by quite a few people for us to try the Shake Shack while in NYC, so we did. It was mid afternoon so the lunch crowd was pretty gone, but of course, the place was still pretty crowded. A good thing about this place is they have a line dedicated to those who don't want hot food (so if you're coming for a shake, it's a lot quicker). Oddly enough, going to the shake shack - I didn't have a shake! Haha, in retrospect, I should have - regardless of how full I was! I order the shaker burger with a single patty. It comes with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and shaker sauce. To me - a good cheeseburger is only as good as the melted cheese on top of it. This place definitely did it right. The burger and the cheese were cooked perfectly and it was definitely good (again, no in-n-out). The fries were okay (not on the same level as the burger) but I like that they have the option for cheese fries!! read more

Shake Shack may have the best ground beef I've ever eaten. This is perfectly flavorful, juicy, griddle cooked beef that's ground fresh daily. Respectably, cheese is only offered as American, and the meat and cheese combine in a truly delicious fashion. If your lunch is like mine, a double shake burger will come out with lettuce, tomato, cheese, two patties, and "special" (thousand island) sauce on a squishy white bun, wrapped up in a wax paper sleeve. This is all quite similar to an In-N-Out burger, but doesn't have the same quality of tomato and lettuce that the fantastic West Coast chain offers. In fact, the relative average quality of everything besides than the meat and cheese is what keeps the burger from being truly amazing. While Corner Bistro still wins in my heart for favorite NYC burger, that's more because of the establishment as a whole. As I've said, the ground beef here is unbeatable. I didn't partake in the name sake, but I'd like to try a shake at some point. The fries were average crinkle cut potatoes, nothing special. Be prepared for long wait here, or try and time your visit in between lunch and dinner on weekdays. Bottom Line: These cows make my mouth water. read more

Yes, I agree with the masses on this one. Burgers, fries, and shakes were great, and it's what they're known for. Coming from California, I had a high standard set by In-N-Out already, and this burger joint definitely stepped up to the competition. Shake Shack touts a "Shake Sauce" while In-N-Out has a "Secret Sauce," which is very similar to Thousand Island dressing. For some reason, the Secret Sauce stood out a bit more to me in flavor than the Shake Sauce. Maybe the sauce went so well with the burger that I couldn't even tell it was there! The fries are a nice medium sized wavy fry that tasted good, but could have been better if they were piping hot out of the fryer. I'm not sure why they couldn't have served the fries fresher since they clearly had the demand to support just-in-time frying. Maybe this branch just had to get their assembly line in better shape. On another note, I would not venture to try the frozen custards though. We ordered a PB&J frozen custard, which turned out to be a fruit syrup around some melting vanilla ice cream rather than the quality fruit preserves that we were hoping for. I would stick with the main menu items that got them all the fame and you won't be disappointed. There was about a 45 minute wait, so if you're there with other people, I would encourage you to have one person scout out a table while another orders. That way you ensure everyone has seat when you're ready to chow down on some delicious burger! read more

This is probably the equivalent burger joint of In-N-Out of the East. OMG, SO GOOD! I was in NYC last fall (2011) and this was the FIRST place my sister and I had stopped by. This place wasn't as busy as the famous Madison Square Garden one, but STILL JUST AS GOOD. We got an order of the burger with raw onions and a side of cheese fries. YOU CAN'T FORGET THE CHEESE FRIES. And we also got a vanilla shake! How can you not order a vanilla shake at Shake Shack?! Everything just melts in your mouth...THAT good! Nom Nom Nom! My partner used to live in NYC and would not stop talking about Shake Shack the moment we booked our spring trip. We started out trying to go to the location in the theater district, but the line was out the door and down the block so we hopped in a cab to the Upper West Side. The line was shorter, and we probably waited about 15 minutes for our food to arrive. Finding a seat here is like a sport. You have to scope out seats, practically stalk patrons who look like they're almost done eating, and be the first to sit down. As we ate, school children on spring break stared longingly at our burgers as they clung to their parents (I ALMOST felt bad for them). When we finished our meal, another customer literally sat down at our table before I even put my coat on. I digress... From a burger standpoint, I'd compare Shake Shack to Five Guys, just a little different. The burgers are cooked medium, and the secret is definitely in the sauce. You order either one patty or two, in an attempt to be kind to my waistline I ordered the SmokeShack with a single patty (for 280 calories less). Each bite was better than the next. Some bites with the ranch, some with shack sauce, some with a combination of the two. Amazing. Worth mentioning, upon first site the fries reminded me of school cafeteria fries, but definitely a pleasant surprise once I got a taste. Must be something about the oil or freshness of the potato, but I was very pleased with the fry experience. Didn't have room for a shake or custard, will have to return :0) read more

If you're from the west coast and love in n out, I'll apologize in advance. I don't agree...I like shake shack better! They use a potato bun that is nice and juicy. Also don't forget to get the shack sauce!! That is also key. My parents love the shroom burger with the exploding cheese. It's a great option for vegetarians! Sometimes they have the Shake leister which is a burger with fried shallots. They don't always have it but when they do, don't forget to try it! read more

For the bf this is hands down his favorite meal during our NYC trip. He's still craving this burger - that's how good it was! There isn't much seating at this location and when we went it was pretty packed. The weather was perfect so we ordered to go and sat on a bench across the street. The line can be pretty long but the servers are super efficient. I don't think we waited more than 10 minutes for our order either! I guess that's why Shake Shack is considered "gourmet fast food". We ordered a single ShackBurger, a double ShackBurger with pickle and onion, regular fries, and cheese fries. The burgers are so juicy and the meat is pretty thick! I love how squishy the potato buns are - your teeth just sink right in. It's all about the ShakeSauce and the cheeziness though - man why was that burger so tasty??? Fries were standard - nothing outrageous about them but nothing wrong with them either. I love me some fries! I also love their logo, menu, and website.. heh =P.. I LOVE Shake Shack! read more

I absolutely love Shake Shack! Simple, perfect cheeseburgers, crispy fries (even better when topped with cheese!), creamy, delicious shakes, and a REALLY good beer made for them by Brooklyn Brewery (ShackMeister Ale)-what's not to love?! In my most recent trip I tried the 'Shroom Burger which just totally blew my mind! A fried mushroom stuffed with oozy, gooey cheese? Yes, please! I'll be honest, I couldn't even really tell it was a mushroom in there and I really didn't care-it was so awesome, even all the meat lovers out there would love it! Great location, right next to Central Park. Perfect spot to grab a burger and take a stroll at the park after. Long crazy lines because of the park and museum. Food did come out quicker then I expected. Had a hard time grabbing a table, people were just sitting to rest and not eating at all. Shack Stack - $9.59 - TINY AF! But the best burger they have on their menu. The shroom patty adds a gooey cheesy burst with mushrooms. Beer, 16 oz - $5.69 - Beer was cold and crisp. Not a bad price. Working at the delacorte theater in central park, I have become addicted to shake shack. I'd been to the MSP location once before and this location with a friend before I started working at the park, and my expectations were surpassed by each location. Yes, it's greasy and red-meaty and all those things they tell you not to do, but it's so good you won't care! (no, it's not in-n-out burger, but nor does it pretend to be.) I also LOVE that they'll do burgers without a bun - it may not seem like a big deal to you bun-eaters, but not having to scrape my cheese off of the bun (and inevitably eat half the bun with my cheese) makes my life a little happier. Oh, and the line is NOT bad at this one, but I've never gone at noon or 7pm... I guess I'm an off-peak eater. read more

Shake Shack messed up my order, yet, I'm still giving them 5 stars. I had dinner a few nights ago at the Shake Shack. My intent was to have a cheeseburger and fries and I wanted to order a shake on my way out. I got 2 burgers and fries. Holy cow. The earth, moon, and sun just lined up to give me a free burger. I was tempted to tell the guy that gave me my order that he messed up, but ... what the hell ... I just got a free burger, I wasn't going to turn it in - even if it meant skipping out on my shake. The burgers were glorious. Absolutely beautiful. I'm thinking that Shake Shack is the 2nd best chain burger in the US after In-and-Out. One bit of advice - Please do NOT come to Chicago. I will gain a ton of weight if you do. read more

After a hardy stroll in Central Park, we worked a good appetite for something fast, quick and easy on the budget. Shake Shack was on my list and coincidentally we end up here on a whim. The crowds here were energetic with young & old, as well as it being very touristy, aren't most place in NY touristy?? Menu selection is simple and very well thought out, they even offer beer! Waiting time was tolerable and service was efficient. My Shack-cago Dog was loaded with relish, onions, cucumber, pickle, tomato, sport pepper, celery salt and mustard & crinkle cut fries and a local beer. You cant complain about the price, as it was very reasonable. read more

French fries look like the frozen ones from Costco. Milk shake was good. Employees are great. Location was great. Guess I'm spoiled from being from Cali and having In n Out. read more

Oh Shake Shack, while your fries may be crinkly and your shakes frozen, your menu is too dense, and your workers can get sloppy. You will never be In-N-Out, especially with the inefficiency in cooking and menu variety, but you are in your own rights, a New York classic. The burger patties are better than the West Coast favorite, but the potato buns are sub-par and not toasted. Prices are also higher than their western counterpart, and wait times are much, much longer. Quality is hit-or-miss, and your order might be wrong sometimes. Still, if you're with someone who's never been, it's a must (at least once) for New York visitors. read more

I actually like this shake shack over the one at flatiron. I think it's because of the indoor seating (which is awesome if you can find it immediately) and they have bathrooms and more seating downstairs. The downside to it being indoors is the push and shove. It gets packed in the wait area. The food tastes equally amazing here. I had the shroom burger because I wasn't in the mood for meat at the time. This thing is just as greasy and unhealthy feeling however. It was "fried portobello filled with melted cheese and onions, topped with lettuce, tomato and shack sauce". It tasted really good. I guess it's okay that they're small in size because that means a couple thousand less calories? A little pricey for "fast food" but always yummy. read more

Coming to NYC for the first time being a Californian, everyone wanted me to come here to compare to In N Out. First of all, it is so difficult to compare because In N Out is $2 for a burger whereas this is around $5. I would have to compare this place to Five Guys and Shake Shack beats the crap out of Five Guys. Second of all, the burger is small but very tasty. I really like the decor and structure of Shake Shack. I would not call this fast food at all either because it takes a very long time to get your food. If you put a gun to my head to choose....I would choose In n out...come on I'm from CA and does Shake Shack have a secret menu? read more

My husband and I had the Shack Burger and Shack-cago dog, with a vanilla frozen custard. YUM! The line was long and the place was super packed, but we were served pretty quickly and then walked across the street to Central Park to enjoy our lunch. So glad this location is by the park! :D They have a "Shack Cam" so you can time your visit for when the line isn't out the door. read more

You can't go wrong with a shackburger, which is a cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato and shacksauce. The burgers are cooked nicely, come out fast, and really fill you up. If you're looking for something a bit over the top, then you should try the shackstack, which is a cheeseburger with the fried 'shroom in it. The cheese and the fried mushroom itself bring in extra salty glory to the already cheesy burger. Some people swear by it, but I prefer my burger the regular shackburger. With plenty of locations in the city, you have no excuse not to try shake shack. Recommendation: ShackBurger read more

You need to try a Shake Shack if you are i NYC. Not because it is the best in town, cause it's not, it's because of the high cool factor.. I was suprised that it was a fast food concept, it was crowded with people, although the biting cold we had to eat the burger on a bench outside. The burger was ok. The fries was excellent. The milkshake was good. There are so many more and better burger restaurants, but this should be tested at least once. read more

I was visiting the natural history museum and wanting to grab lunch I stopped by Shake Shack only because how hyped up my friends made it be. I got the vegetarian burger (made of mushrooms), fries, and lemonade. The mushroom burger is $8 so I expected something decent sized since this isn't a restaurant. I cannot explain just how overrated the food is. It was nothing but average. The portions of all three items were tiny in comparison to other places and the taste is subpar. I lived in California for many years and New Yorkers say Shake Shack is like In-n-out. No, no, no! You'll pay $5-6 for the entire meal in comparison to $15 here, the portions will fill you up and the food is spectacular. I won't be visiting this place again. read more

The Shake Shack at this location is HORRIBLE. If I could rate negative stars I would. I mobile ordered my food and when I got there 10 mins later and tried to ask if my order was ready I was ignored. Then I see an employee who turns out to be the Manager, but a bag to the side and not call out any name. After another 5 mins I asked said Manager if my order was ready and it turns out the bag he put to the side was mine. As I'm leaving I check to see the temperature of my food, it was COLD!!! I go back in and told said Manger, he "switched"out my food, but it was still cold If I wanted cold food and subpar service I would go to McDonalds or Wendy's, at least there I know what I'm in for. My go to Shake Shack spot that is both close to Natural History Museum and Central Park so you can walk around to burn off those calories afterwards! +Food: Shack Shake burgers are pretty classic, the fries are a bit bland for my taste. Shakes are pretty great (I like the black and white). If lines are long, they'll give out menus while you're waiting in line. -Ambience: This spot like most of the chains are super crowded so try to go during a non meal hour or risk never having a seat. read more

Shake Shack is pretty consistent...Va, MD and NYC the food is always good and it's always busy. The line was at the door but we waited because the food is worth. This particular one could use a little help on the cleanliness of the lobby. I wasn't fond of the downstairs sitting area. It took about 10-15 minutes to get our food (Saturday Night). We decided to get our food to go, no seats upstairs. Our Food was really good. read more

One star off for limited seating and the long wait. I went on a Monday afternoon for lunch & had a difficult time finding a place to sit. Bathroom could also use some upkeep. Other than that, the food was amazing! The shack burger melted in my mouth, and the pumpkin-flavored ice cream sundae was heaven (for some reason I was craving sundae on a cold, autumn day. I dont like anything pumpkin, but the ice cream was very subtle and delectable :) I haven't been to the other locations, but I'll definitely come back to this one (when it's not busy, of course...) read more

Tasted like frozen melon was crushed with ice and chopped into an ice/smoothie blend. Super refreshing. Very sweet, though. I was getting discouraged since I'd been striking out with food so far on my trip to New York. New York is considered the food capital of the US--though I have to admit, I think San Francisco gives it a good run for its money, but that's my personal West Coast bias--but I had yet to find any. Then along came Shake Shack. Sure, it wasn't exactly fine dining, but it was much better than the meals I'd had previously my first 24 hours in New York. Sure, Shake Shack is known for it's burgers, but considering I don't eat beef and they don't serve a turkey burger, I was left with no choice but getting the veggie burger. Usually I'm a little skeptical of ordering veggie burgers in restaurants--some make their own patties (often with mixed results) or (more often) they use store-bought Gardenburger patties. Shake Shack's veggie burger was homemade, but with a refreshing twist. While it's described on the menu as a patty with Portobello mushrooms and cheese, it's really more like a skin of thin Portobello mushrooms strips filled with cheese, then quickly fried. Wow--what a unique preparation! One bite in, and I got a nice mouthful of gooey cheese. As my friend declared, this was a veritable "cheese extravaganza." I wish I could find something like this closer to home in California! I didn't order some fries, but I did--of course--order a milkshake. I mean how could you come to a place called Shake Shack and not order a milkshake?!?! I ordered the daily special shake--custard, marshmallow, chocolate, caramel and malt. Starting with a frozen custard definitely makes for a richer, creamier shake that's not exactly easy on the arteries, I'm sure, but it was mighty tasty. I have to say though, I think all the flavors just collided and blended together into a chocolatey mess. I think it might have been better to get the vanilla shake, which got the thumbs up from my dining companions. For a restaurant that has such high volume, Shake Shack was pretty good about getting people through the cashier and getting order out. I can't say the same for their tables, however. We definitely had a hard time snagging a table for five people here during the lunch-hour rush. Shake Shack is certainly a convenient and tasty option for lunch. Shake Shack you can do better with your poor customer service! I've went in with my dog in a dog bag (no line) and this one jerk who works there was like "NO DOGS ROAR"!!!! (Dog hater) Seriously...ok lower your voice I can hear you from here. I then asked if I can place an order with him and if he can help me. He replied "NO". I was like do you have a menu I can just call in my order? He replied "NO" and walked away. The reason I can't leave my dog tied outside is because he will definitely get STOLEN in a heart beat. I was soooo furious this jerk was giving me such a hard time. Surprisingly some super sweet Irish lady came to my rescue. She went inside and ordered my food and didn't order anything for herself like I've asked her to. She then told me "PAY IT FORWARD"...aka the movie. I felt bad eating the stupid Shake Shack food but was really blessed that a nice civilian (Angel) helped me out. Today was my first experience eating at this burger joint. I've been so gong ho about eating here, I even posted on facebook about the new locations etc. I am really taken back on the lack of respect they have towards their customers. The workers definitely need to learn how to treat people. Food: Burgers slightly on the salty side but very juicy and my dog liked it a lot! So... my friend whom I dined here with was actually so incensed by this last experience, he actually e-mailed the company. He received an e-mail back from this very same manager, promising a gift card. Well, he did get one - for ten bucks. Nice try, Shake Shack manager - dick over a couple of patrons who'd spent over $30 between them and then lure them back to the place with a $10 card so they'll use that and then spend another +$20 cash on fries, drinks, etc... Well the ploy did not work. My friend e-mailed back and was sent another $20's worth of cards. Still, when we went back, the bill again exceeded $30 for just the two of us. This second shipment of cards contained no apologetic note that the original one with the $10 card did, either. The food was okay. Nothing really to write home about. I kept burping up meat-breath for the rest of the day; don't know if that's a good thing or not, but take it for what it's worth. They did actually prepare the burgers as we'd asked this time, albeit with a major dose of attitude when we emphasized WITH EVERYTHING. All I can say is, these meals weren't all that special nor orgasmic as a lot of the reviews here indicate. I think I'll still be heading to Big Nicks when I'm craving a burger. When I went to Shake Shack the place was packed. As I waited in the dense line to order my meal a copious of people kept having to squeeze past me. Even though the place was packed the line moved pretty rapidly. When it was time for me to order the waiter greeted me very solicit. I ordered cheesy fries and a vanilla milkshake. I was then given a device that lights up red when my order is ready. After about 5 min the clear plastic device began flashing a florid red color to obtain my attention. I went to get my food and gave them back the device. The fries and the cheese came in separate containers. I had to pour the cheese on my fries myself. Before I ate my fries I decided to try my milkshake. OMG!! This milkshake was the bomb. I have to say the milk shake is one of the best milkshakes I've ever tasted. The vanilla milkshake had a nice sweet flavor. After trying one sip I instantly fell in love and gulped down the whole thing. Once I evenly poured the cheese on the fries I began to ravenously devour them. As I finish joyfully eating the fries I began to taste this nasty after taste that was left by the cheese. It is so bad for your health yet so good. I ironically came here after a morning jog at Central Park when my brother pointed out that Shake Shack had opened up another location here. I once went to the one down in the park near Flatiron and thought the wait was a not worth the hassle. Apparently here the wait is not so bad, but I still made my brother make the run since he owed me for a terribly long jog. Once the sweat subsided I sank my teeth into the juiciest burger I've tasted since Corner Bistro. It's not the same texture, but just as good and probably much worse for my gut that is building up. I like the fries too, just like the old school Roger Hip and Scotch days where guys in Happy Days were sipping shakes and chowing on this. Those baby boomers all have massive guts now, allowing plenty all around the world to mistake pregnancy in men and women in our fatty country. If you're thinking about going, do yourself a favor and order the BBQ Boneless Baby Back Rib Sandwich. This isn't your average rib sandwich it is clearly crafted with serious care and premium ingredients. It features 100% baby back pork ribs that are hand-deboned, slow-cooked for nine hours, and marinated in a proprietary BBQ spice blend with apple cider vinegar. The depth of flavor in every single bite is incredible. Also ordered the fries. Perfectly crispy, golden crinkle cut russet potato fries that complemented the sandwich beautifully. I went here for lunch yesterday and ordered one Shack Stack. It was busy but I don't think that justifies it taking 24 minutes to make it. I asked one of the people working if they could check up on it. She looked at my receipt and walked back and didn't do anything. I had to ask another worker to check up on it and finally my burger came. It was room temperature which makes me think that it was sitting there all this time. My buzzer never went off. Bad service but the food still tasted great. I'm sure it's much better if you don't go during lunchtime. Edit: I was given a complimentary card for my troubles. I went back and ordered a cookies and cream milkshake, cheese fries, and a shack burger. Food came out within minutes of ordering and it was hot. I enjoyed everything about my last visit. The Shake Shack has the best frozen custard - smooth, flavorful combination of ice cream and yogurt. Their standards are always chocolate and vanilla but every day when they're open they have a different flavor of the day - praline and blueberry were amongst my favorites. Their concretes are amazing - they're like blizzards from Dairy Queen wheere you can choose all these great toppings to combine with the frozen custard. In the summer when it's warm out and i walk everywhere I always have to stop by and at least grab a kiddie cone of frozen custard - it's just too good to pass up! Their burgers are also great - more like In-N-Our burgers are than Blue 9.... and check out their Bird Dog for a "healthy" alternative. We heard a lot about this place and everybody told us to go and try this burger place! There was a huge line up to order the food and we ordered Shack Burger and the Chicken Shack as well as their Lemonade and Original Organic Iced Tea. The food was really greasy, just a normal burger that you will find in McDonald's or other burger chains! We also ordered their fries with bacon and ranch and it was not really something special. The price for the food is OK, on the cheaper side compared to other restaurants in New York. Will not definitely repeat and will not also recommend to food lovers unless you just want to line up and wait for more than 30 minutes for a normal burger that you will find on other places in New York or any other city. I never ever write reviews, and honestly, this one has nothing to do with the Shake Shack food - but here goes. I had to compliment this location specifically because I'm an aunt of two boys under the age of 4 and was babysitting them all weekend BY MYSELF for the very first time. I took them to the museum of natural history, and needed to grab them lunch quickly. I stopped here, and the staff could not have been more helpful. It's always packed at shake shack, but they took the time to help me with the double stroller, get me napkins, high chairs, ketchup. I mean if they thought I was struggling, they stopped by to help. This location is awesome, and everyone who works the dining room rocks. They saved my afternoon from two boys close to meltdown. read more

Good thing I listened to my broker and coworker and came here during my trip to NY. . .we waited in line for a bit but it was definitely worth it (and it was raining). . .we were lucky enough to get a table for the 6 of us with all our food too! The shake shacks food is greasy and fatty, in my opinion, delicious! The shake's are thick, the burgers are juicy, and the cheese is melted on just fine. I give it 3 stars because a little too much of this delicious food can make you sick. One of my experiences like that was when I took it to go, got home, played new super mario bros, drank the shake, and threw up on the dining room table. The greasy burgers weren't so delicious then (not that i tried to eat it) and I was put off of shake shack for a few months at least! I would tell people to not try shake shack if you have a greasy stomach, try it if you have a stomach of steel, and make sure that you don't throw up either way. Goodbye for now, internet! read more

I just had dinner at Bill's Bar in the meat packing district and it made me want to rush home and write a glowing review - for THE SHAKE SHACK. Man, I love this place.. and every time I go to another place that claims they have the "best burger in town" I am reminded of how simply wonderful it is. The shakes, the fries, the burger - all top notch. Not to mention they have THE best veggie burger i've ever had (and I usually hate veggie burgers). Shake Shack is always consistent, they never get my order wrong and they have a fast and efficient ordering system. Just a bit of input regarding the EXTRA LONG lines that seem to be quite common... no atmosphere to speak of ... getting a seat is a problem... but the main drawback was a rare burger request turned into a stomach ache and a half... Maybe they shouldn't comply with these "red" requests if making you sick seems to be the standard (it also created major toilet time for my friend) .... I've heard lots of great reviews, but I'm scared to return back to the shack if it's going to give me the shakes again.....or to just check out their well done variety - and why should I since rare at most other places doesn't mean RAW! read more

I have to limit my visits here or cut them at the half. But damn, does it feel good. Try a single or a double - depends on your hunger meter. Do not forget to put the "shack sauce"... it's amazing. Because I only recommend feasting here once a year, I will recommend two more heart-attack worthy additions: cheese fries and a carmel shake. When I was introduced to the Shack, I had to trust someone. "This is so addictive, you won't understand until after you've had your first bite." I really love the burgers, fries and vanilla shake. So far anyone that I bring here are not as impressed as I am. The lines can be insanely long. It's been on the upper west side for at least a year now and the line still goes out the door and around the corner. Another down side is that most of the time it's hard to get seating inside. It's good if it's a nice day outside so that you can enjoy the food in the park nearby. I tried their custards too and they are usually good but sometimes they have strange flavors. Place was very busy on a Friday night but my to-go order was ready quickly and not missing anything. The Shack Burger, with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and their sauce was great. Perfect size, everything tasted fresh. Fries were hot. Shaky Road shake was delicious and had tons of toppings in it. Not cheap... my burger, fries, shake and root beer was over $20. Who can outdo Shake Shack? The answer is no one. No one can create a burger stand that has a 40 minute wait line in NYC. The reason being? Because it is the best damn burger here (well... tied with Corner Bistro). The girlfriend and I like to sit underneath the heated lamp on a cold winter's day, only to be truly warmed up by a shackburger and a perfect amount of oozy cheese fries to compliment every bite. I am a new yorker, so i usually understand that i have to wait patiently for the food. Last week when i visited shake shack for the first time, it was really busy and crowded. About 20minutes worth of wait, I was able to get a set of burgers, fries and a drink for about $18 total. The place is averaged sized and has a very busy environment. But if you are looking for good burgers and do not mind the wait, then you should visit shake shack.
