Today I took my ring to Shane Co in Walnut Creek California to get it resized. The ring was not bought from Shane Co originally. I was greeted by a salesman DANIEL AL. I found him immediately to be a bit much, and in bad taste. He demanded to know the price of my ring from my fiancé RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME only later explaining this was for insurance purposes for the resizing. He seemed to sneer at the modest price of my engagement ring but I thought maybe I was being silly so I ignored it. Daniel never thought to actually double my check my ring size for the resizing but another salesman did. I wish I had his name because he is who your business should be given to. He was respectful and double checked my size only to chase Daniel down and have my paperwork changed when I was indeed a 5.5 rather than a 6. The real issue for me arose after this as we went to the back to customer service to leave the ring for resizing. DANIEL AL actually had the nerve to mock the price of my engagement ring. He told the person at the counter "it's not the most expensive item in the store ." We are sentimental people with frankly bigger priorities than a diamond. The point is there should be no justification for any couple regarding their purchase for a momentous occasion such as this. I can think of a million ways Daniel could have graciously and quickly addressed what we had driven to Shane Co from Emeryville to take care of today. I felt sick to my stomach to hear someone speak to another person like that, especially someone who didn't take 1 second to offer a simple congratulations or even so much as a smile in our direction. I could on imagine how many sweet couples come in looking for a modest ring only to be completely degraded by DANIEL AL. He created a very negative experience from the moment we set foot in the door. Also I am a white woman and my fiancé is an Asian man. I couldn't shake the feeling that Daniel Al is probably a racist. I feel completely let down by my experience with Shane Co today with the exception of the gentleman who double checked my ring size. Also we have many friends who purchased their rings at Shane Co and were very happy with the experience. I 100% believe this particular salesperson DANIEL AL was the problem. UPDATE: Got my ring back (again not from Shane Co Originally) and it's sized perfectly. Melody helped me in customer service today and she was very sweet. The managers at Shane Co really did their best to make me feel better about my previous visit with Daniel and covered the $75 for my ring resizing which I did not expect but was a nice gesture. On August 13, 2021 I took my diamond ring to have it cleaned and I was told that the center stone was loose?! I left the ring that day and Lindsey asked me if I wanted to re-mounted higher? I agreed and I was anxious to pick it up on time! Of course Shane co did not call me if it's ready or not? when I called they had me on hold for several minutes and they told me that if I wanted mounted higher, they needed to add a metal to the bottom of center stone?! I was very disappointed first of all that they had my ring for almost two weeks and why didn't they call me sooner about this? Now I have to wait again and to get it mounted higher and charged to add a metal? Customer service is NOT as good as it used to be here!! I have taken my ring several times for cleaning and my ring looked like they wiped it and that's it!! I am very disappointment!! read more

We understand that today is a holiday but there was no notification from the store, either online or by phone, that the store would not be open. My significant other purchased a ring from Shane Co. for me for the holidays two years ago. It was a beautiful surprise and resizing it was no issue at all! I went into the store earlier this week because my ring had lost its sparkle and needed a cleaning! I spontaneously went into Shane Co. while running an errand at another store in the shopping center around 6:15 PM. When I walked in I was shocked at the amount of signage about social distancing and arrows pointing where to go. A gentleman who was behind a table with a plastic barrier greeted me and asked me to stand in front of this machine that would take my temperature. I was so impressed by the level of PPE the employee was wearing and that they take temperatures before going to see other staff. I really appreciated the store taking the time to do this and not to mention how fancy the machine that takes your temperature! After we cleared that I had a temperature that was appropriate to be in store, I was directed to the back where customer service is. Staff were busy helping clients pick out jewelery, but I was still squeezed in to get my ring cleaned. I appreciated this as it was a spontaneous decision and did not expect them to do it in that moment. Within 15 minutes my ring looked good as new. Everyone I interacted with was so nice and I could sense the smile behind their masks! This is a business that truly is taking the pandemic seriously and is making sure it's safe for customers to shop. read more

I went to this location to get a new 14k gold setting and chain for a diamond I have. As soon as this woman found out what we were there for, her entire demeanor changed because she realized we wouldn't be spending "enough" to make her a worthwhile commission. I've seen reviews saying this place had racist and rude workers, and it is 100% true. We walked right out of the store because she left us alone for 20 minutes while she helped more "paying" customers. She tried to scare us away by telling us how much they charge to reset diamonds that aren't theirs. Seriously, the workers at this location are rude and extremely unhelpful. We went to several other stores in the area and none of them could compete with the level of service Allyson Pesce and staff offered. Walking in, I had no idea what kind of ring I would be getting. We've literally been back 3 more times for an upgrade! Customer service here has always been theee best & I love coming here because of that reason. Or is it because I have my two toddlers with me ? The service this place provides is top notch! They are very professional, super nice, and knowledgeable. I like to go on weekdays to avoid the weekend rush but I have gone on a Sunday and waited a bit but no biggie, I know this place is popular on the weekends since their jewelry is amazing so I expect to wait a bit on busy days. When I go on weekdays, it's usually to get my rings cleaned and they get it done without a problem. They provide water, tea, or coffee. Their jewelry here is of the highest quality and amazing! I love how everything sparkles! I had been eyeing a heart ring for about two years and finally when I was able to buy it there were only 3 left! The one at that store had been sold but they found one of the 3 and had it shipped from a store elsewhere and I finally had my beautiful heart ring :) You can create a wishlist for yourself to buy when you are ready (assuming they don't sell out) or for your significant other to buy for you for your anniversary. My husband got my engagement and wedding bands from here also and I loooove them! I specially love that they do free cleanings and inspections, as well as free replacement of the gems if they accidentally fall off. I highly recommend this place for all your jewelry wants and needs!! Side Note: I was just reading some of the negative reviews and the reasons why those people gave this place a one star is absolutely absurd!! Those people must be used to getting catered on immediately or want instant gratification! Remember that when a popular place is busy you might not get greeted right away! Can't recommend enough. Every experience with this location has been positive, professional, and low pressure. Never felt like I've been pushed into hard upsales, and each associate has been kind and informative. Every year, I take my fiancé to upgrade her earrings (Shane Co let's you exchange upwards with full credit towards next purchase), was pleasantly surprised to learn the fair value of the earrings we bought previously went up, so the company gave us full payment price plus an additional $200 in fair value adjustments towards our trade in, without me asking or even knowing of such a deal. I used to work on the same street as this company. My husband had proposed to me a few months prior and he gave me a family heirloom as my engagement and wedding band so there was no men's ring to match. As a surprise I went down there on my lunch to see what they had in stock. At the time I had to wear a uniform for work so I probably didn't look like the most snazzy jewelry buyer walking through the door. I had money to burn though. My limit was $2,000. I walked in and was looking around a gentleman came up to me and asked what I was looking for. I showed him my ring and told him I wanted to find something similar in a men's style ring. He didn't ask me how much of a price range I was looking for he started pulling these rings out that looked like you would get out of a children's quarter machine for toys. I kept saying no that is really ugly. I could not believe the crap he was showing me. It was apparent the rings he was showing me was not what I wanted and he was only showing me rings in the $100 to $300 price range. That's when I knew he thought I didn't have any money or wasn't going to spend that much money. It had to have been based on how I was dressed. He said he was going in the back to get some other rings to show. When he leaves I walk down to end of the cases towards the back of the building. I found the ring that was perfect, perfectly matching my engagement ring. Much out of the price range he was showing me. He came back with some rings and as he was about to show me them when I told him I wanted to see that one. I could tell he was shocked at what I was pointing out. He quickly put the crap he brought out back in his pocket. His tune changed really quickly. It was the perfect ring even though this guy thought I was a rube. He was not rude at all. He was really nice he just pre judged me. I had the ring fitted for my husband and cleaned. The wrapped it for me and when I came back there was these cookies in the buying area that were so tempting. I didn't have one though. I was good. Our rings look great and I am really happy with it. I made an online purchase and went to pickup my purchase with my photo I'd and order confirmation which was requested. Upon arrival I was declined my order due to not having the physical card. Even upon showing my login and application of my credit card, with my name and identity. Showing the purchase confirmation and my name. They still refused my patronage. I requested a refund for this disservice and waste of time and they refused to provide a receipt. Stated I'll get an email on Monday that they'll also be holding the credit. In hindsight, I am still not sure how I didn't catch on or sense that something was up. My mom had a diamond ring that my grandfather had given my grandmother. Sometime during my honey and my relationship she realized that this was "serious" and mentioned the diamond to him. He picked out a beautiful ring and had the diamond from my grandmother's ring set. I didn't know about this until he proposed on a beach in Half Moon Bay and gave me my gorgeous engagement ring. He did good. I didn't have a personal experience with Shane Company (aside from loving my engagement ring) until last week when I took it in for the 6 month cleaning. Every six months I can bring my ring in to get checked and sparkled. The staff are not overly friendly but they get the job done. My ring is all sparkly and distracting again. Amazing quality and service! First off, the ring is amazing and the center stone, despite being a mid-range color and clarity, puts other rings that were twice the price to shame due to the superior cut that Shane Co provides. Not only do I love my ring but on Day 4 of wearing it, I banged it hard and knocked a small stone out of the halo setting. I was told they covered any lost stones when we got it and true to their word, I brought it in and had it back in under 10 minutes, as good as new!!! It's one thing to say you have a warranty and another to honor it. It should be noted that we had shopped around for the ring and found a similar set at a jeweler that wouldn't give us a guarantee and scared us, stating that there's so many exceptions to most jewelers' warranties, it was fine to just have insurance cover and pay to have it fixed each time. He told me many stories about less-than-stellar customer service at other jewelers he went to on his quest for my ring. But beyond just this, he said that their customer service was bar none, greatly surpassing his experiences in previous stores. And after dealing with them for almost a year and half -- undergoing resizes and several (free) cleanings -- I have to agree. The staff in Walnut Creek is friendly, accommodating, and incredibly helpful. I have always felt like a priority and like my service is valued. The Shane Co. mission is simple and very positive. None of the sales staff work on commission, so it never feels like they're trying to up-sell. It's all very genuine and very comforting, especially for something so personal. They are always excited to see me and to make my ring extra sparkly whenever I come in. I even had to re-set my ring a couple of months ago, which they also did for free. I just recently went to a Yelp Elite event here, and I realized that I did walk into this store a LONG time ago - when I was shopping around for a wedding band 10 years ago. At the event, I wondered why I don't come back more often to shop. The even allowed us to shop with other women (it was a Ladies' Night) and try on anything, with no pressure. And their sales pitch for the night was accurate- there was no pressure. Each sales person was also very nice and was willing to go the extra mile for my friend and I. I was particularly interested in rings, and my friend was interested in looking at heart-shaped solitaire diamonds. Two different sales persons who helped us searched the store and returned with different, yet similar options to what we liked. I also like their guarantee on their products - as long as you bring it back to get cleaned and serviced/checked every 6 months or so, they guarantee your jewelry - which includes replacing a lost stone if it comes to that. I found a piece or two that I loved, and I plan on going back to get them soon. I'm glad that I attended the event and got exposure to what shopping at Shane Company is like. read more

We bought my ring here back in 06. We bring it in about 2x a year for cleaning, rhodium, etc. In 13 years I lost 2 accent diamonds; once at the beach then another while wrenching on our jeep. Because we take it in regularly, it has a lifetime warranty and both times they replaced the diamond free. They're very professional and helpful.
