This restaurant is among one of the new Asian restaurants along a small strip. It is very narrow with limited seating. There were 3 servers and 1 person who cleared the tables. The food came out fast and the wait is not that long. The steamed juicy dumplings were amazing. There is so much juice that you see it through the skin. There is something extra in the juice ... great flavor. So ... The juicy pan fried buns are super juicy! It squirted all over my plate and into a bowl next to the plate. Bite a small hole first to drink the juice and then crunch into the crispy bottom. So good! We ordered the shrimp fried noodles and it was also good. Food/Xiao Lon Bao: Soup came out of it was not authentic, taste gear toward americanize sweet sugary very simplistic approach. The skin is also not chewy bouncy enough for my taste although it didn't break. Other dishes I ordered were on smaller side and very oily. Space: Very tight, wife and I went for lunch, felt too cozy with the other unknown guest next to me. Service: Was told to order immediately when I was sat down, feels very rush. I came from big city but still come on I haven't even sat down yet they already ask me to put in my order while I was walking to my table. The bill auto select 18% btw and I thought there was not enough service provided to justify so. Overall: I will never come here again and I would not recommend to anyone. Overall a very weird experience. The water was pre poured at every table and tasted like bad tap water that wasn't filtered. They only serve water here so maybe suggest bringing your own. The chili oil wasn't even chili oil. It was just oil. The scallion chicken was super salty and oily, I would not recommend. Soup dumplings were okay, wrapper is a little on the thicker side. They also refused to serve me rice even though I offered to pay for it. Said it wasn't on the menu and that I have to order fried rice. There were very limited veggie options. Delicious Chinese (Shanghainese) restaurant in Dallas! We came from Shanghai for a holiday and this was a great place to satisfy our craving for Shanghainese dishes! We ordered quite a number of dishes to try and it was pretty good! Not too salty and a quite a lot of options to choose from! * The Shanghai Crispy Shrimp is a must try! Friend perfectly and super addictive too! * The steamed dumplings are flavoursome and juicy too (eat soon after it's served to retain the heat of the soup inside). * The pan fried dumplings are very tasty! Let it cool down a little first before biting in to avoid burning with the hot soup retained inside! After one bite, you'll want more! * If you're very hungry, or here with a group, I'd recommend the friend rice to try too! Perfect pairing it with some of the appetisers and fried dishes to, such as the pork ribs, fried chicken and duck. The restaurant is not very large but service is fast and turn over is pretty efficient too. Modern and clean, and I have to mention the restrooms are one of the cleanest/ best I've been to for restaurants in Dallas (as of yet haha)! We ordered soup dumplings, wonton soup, and crispy shrimps. Food was mostly good but the wontons were pretty salty. services weren't great, however. They obviously forgot our dumplings, we waited for awhile after finishing the other two dishes. Eventually found a lady to ask about it after several attempts of getting their attention. She never came back letting us know the status, and the dumplings finally came when we were trying to ask again. They also were rushing us for payment as soon as the last piece of food was taken, the guy was obviously impatient when we were tipping and signing. Overall, the food wasn't that special, and services failed the expectation. Most likely won't return again. read more

Restaurant is a bit narrow and on the crampier side. Had to sit literally elbow to elbow to the next table. Service was fast but they do not allow any addons to the first order which was weird. Food is exceptional, better than the top taiwanese or xiao long bao places. My complaint is only that the dumplings are so large that the skin tend to break while you try to pick them up. They dont use the traditional bamboo steamer but metal instead so that tends to stick with the skin. The noodle soup was great! Noodle is hand made. The spare ribs was disappointing. The crab and original soup dumplings are the best in town for sure as far as flavor goes. Will return again just for the dumplings! read more

Absolutely authentic and delicious! We've heard of the famous Shanghai Taste from Vegas. Plano is their second location and definitely lives up to its reputation. While I agree with other reviewers that the restaurant is built small and narrow, for us the true flavor of Shanghai and the friendly service was enough to overcome the wait and less than ideal seating. Shanghai food is a lot more than soup dumplings. Everything on Shanghai Taste's menu is the real deal. We especially recommend the Shanghai stir fry noodles and the crispy shrimp! read more

Me and my mom have been to Shanghai Taste many times over the last handful of months and have loved many of the dishes they have to offer! 小笼包 has been a favorite dish of mine ever since I was a kid, but the ones offered here have become my favorite place to get them! The 生煎包 is admittedly something I haven't tried before coming here, but it's a dish they're renown for, with the crispy bottom perfectly complimenting the juicy meat and soup inside. Other standout dishes to me were the sweet and sour ribs (fall off the bone delicious!), the scallion oil noodles, and the crispy shrimp. Of their specials, right now there's a glutinous rice cake dessert that has a crispy outside but the familiar chewiness of glutinous rice desserts but with sweet gooey brown sugar syrup inside. That dessert isn't usually my type of thing but our server was so kind in recommending it that I had to try it! Overall, pretty much everything I've had here is amazing tasting and I fully recommend here if you want delicious Chinese/上海 cuisine. Also, this week, they started opening for morning hours (9-11), so if you ever need your cravings fed, you know where to go! read more

He didn't ask to see what I wanted to order, but was quick to point me to a small signage about their service.
