There was nothing here i was thrilled about. Basic quick dishes except that the food doesn't come quickly. The Philly Dip had good hearty meat in it but no additional flavor. The bread was sub par and the Au Jus turned out to be cheap beef broth. I wasn't impressed. I tried the strawberry rhubarb thinking that this would be where they shine but no. I'd give this place a 3 1/2 stars if I could. It's decent place to enjoy comfort food and a nice slice of pie. My favs tend to be apple, cherry, bananas and cream, and when available Marion berry. It has the layout of a Baker's Square (which it formerly was) and so can fill a bit dated inside. However, service was great when I went here. Our waitress never let our cups go empty and checked on us enough to feel like we were being cared for. There's also a relaxed air to the environment. I came here with some girlfriends from work and we had a good ol' time without being pressured to hurry. I always enjoy places where you can spend some leisure time with your friends or family. Former Employee - Beware of what you buy/eat. When I worked there in 2021 and even now (2024), there's a high chance you will get food poisoning. Due to the menu having way too many items, not everything is cooked equally, leaving ingredients to be kept in the walk in fridge-freezer way past when it should be used. Well, it was one of the best dinners I've ever had the weight staff very personable and charming, especially Haley. It was so good. I asked her the names of the people involved in my meal that would be Valentine and.cozme and Jacob and STEVE forgive me if I'm leaving somebody out, but the entire meal was good given my circumstances at the time they went over and above what they were supposed to do and what they could have and should have dead I can say nothing but great things about that place. Me and my family and friends will visit that restaurant more often. It wasn't the 45 minute wait for the food, which was bad enough, considering I was told when I arrived to pick up my online order that they were working on it, only to be told 20 minutes later that they would rush it because they hadn't made it yet. It wasn't getting home to find out they had given me the wrong slice of pie. It wasn't when I checked the order before I left the parking lot and realized they didn't give me the marionberry pancake topping (which is an up charge) so I had to go back in to get it. It was when taking to the manager who said they didn't have any of the marionberry left, but offered no alternative, and offered me my $1.50 back (which I said yes to, because he did not offer any other recourse at that time) went back in the kitchen and spoke derisively and condescendingly about me to the employees, that I decided on the one star rating. Apparently they are unaware that when the restaurant is quiet, someone in the lobby can hear what they are talking about. Was here for the second time on March 4 at about 7:30pm. Had a slice of Dutch Apple pie with cheddar cheese melted on top. What was delivered to the table looked like a deformed pancake. I'm not sure I can explain exactly what happened, but I have never had a piece of pie with melted cheese on top brought to my table that looked like this plate of glop! Tasted fine, but the apples were not discernable as slices of fruit, and if looks could kill, I would have been dead before I took my first bite. My friend had a good laugh . . . and so did my wife when I told her about it later that night. I should have taken a photo of the pie, because I don't think anyone will actually believe me on this one. My best guess is that the food server just put a slice of cheese on top of the piece of pie, put it in a microwave oven and heated it two or three times until the cheese looked sort of melted (and caused the rest of the pie turned into a puddle of mush) instead of one of the cooks putting it under the salamander for a minute. My friend ordered the eggs benedict with a side of sausage. The hollandaise sauce looked unremarkable and like it came straight out of a can of powdered sauce mix. Nothing wrong with that if you're a caterer, like I used to be, and you need to make a few gallons of sauce at a time for a big breakfast event and you don't have time to go to the trouble of making it from scratch, unlike what I would expect from a place like Shari's where a self-respecting chef would make a scratch sauce a few times each day as needed. The eggs benedict, side of two sausages ($5.39), and my friend's Arnold Palmer, and my pie and a glass of water came to almost $28! With tip, I made it a nice, round $30. Price is only an issue in the absence of value, and I certainly didn't think there was $28 worth of value on the table that Friday evening. read more

I grew up in the area but hadn't really been back for about 2 decades. I was hungry for Something to eat around 1am and stumbled here. It was delicious. I tried a slice of pumpkin pie and a club sandwich. Delicious!!!! The fries were a little salty. The next morning i went for breakfast and it was great. We found this wonderful place for breakfast while visiting the area. The food was hearty and delicious. Some of the best pancakes I've ever had. Tammy our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We brought the family for breakfast and had a great experience. The place was very clean and bright. We were seated quickly and the menu was impressive. I had the best oatmeal I've ever had at a restaurant. Not gluey or coagulated--just smooth and creamy, with yummy toppings. My husband had the challah French toast--also really good. Other family members had omelettes and chicken fried steak, and we were all happy. My only complaint was the fruit cup was a little pricey ($5) for just a half-cup of diced melon. They have great food, but it seems like every time I've gone to this place one of the cooks is mad, or walks off the job. It was very busy this day, we were seated and the ladies behind us were dropping the F bomb like it was love. I had to ask to move because I had a child with me, one they could clearly see as there were four of them seated in the booth, and two of us. Foul mouthed customers have probably bothered me at least twice in my lifetime in a restaurant, and they usually stop once someone asks if they have children with them. It's our first time visiting this place. Deco is outdated and restrooms can definitely use an upgrade. Aside from that, food were more than decent and service was great! Our waitress had to wait about 10 tables but she kept tabs on everyone to make sure we have what we need. Boys liked the original fluffy pancakes and I enjoyed my blueberry pancakes. Sausage looked tasty (younger one ate it all) and bacon strips were crunchy to my liking. Husband said his breakfast burrito with avocado was perfect and the side hash brown was perfectly crisped and not greasy. Never had Shari's before but we were in town for the holiday weekend and wanted a quick Thanksgiving meal. Didn't want to leave the dog alone in the hotel so we used DoorDash. Food arrived and two full Thanksgiving meals were missing and a couple slices of pie. Blamed it on DoorDash, they probably didn't grab the other bag. Husband placed another order for the missing food. Shari's employee called because no pecan pie left. Husband said no worries, replace with a pumpkin slice and please add utensils. Second DoorDash arrived, the entire bag was just full of pie slices and no utensils even though the receipt on the bag showed the 2 meals and to add utensils. I am blown away. Pretty sure Doordash wasn't at fault with the first order. We ended up taking the extra pies to the front desk at the hotel so it didn't go to waste. I tried to complain to the main website but it isn't functional so I am not surprised about the service. In today's economy, do not waste your money here. read more

I've been here once in awhile over the last couple of years, and while the service is almost always good, the food just--isn't. I had a Philadelphia dip and a side salad. On the salad, the tomato was not only anemic looking, but it had no taste. The sandwich was made with beef that had been reheated on the grill and and was BROWNED on the grill. It was more than a bit overcooked. This was really disappointing after eating a Prime Rib Dip at another restaurant that was incredible. I hate to say it, but the last couple of times I was here, it really had poorly done food. I like the quiet and the service, but since I don't like sending stuff back, I may have to find somewhere else for lunch in that area. And by the way, in California it seems like more of a retiree place than one for a younger crowd. It's more for a mixed crowd in Orgeon. read more
