We saw their sign that said open 24/7. My family and I first tried this chain on a road trip from WA & the food was BOMB. We had tried the Sacramento location, however they had some of the menu that wasn't available at that specific spot. This spot had the full menu like back in Oregon and it was absolutely delicious! They don't take reservations, but I called ahead and let them know we had a huge party and they served us super well. The food tasted delicious, they served as it came out. Went late night for pie. Service wasn't great, we got seated really quick but it took about 10 minutes for the server to come back with waters and to take our order. We ordered the chocolate peanut butter pie and a Dutch apple pie. Both pies came out after about 10 more minutes. The Dutch pie was room temperature and the chocolate peanut butter pie was cold, both tasted great but wished they were served at the correct temperature. I really wanted to enjoy this place. I had the pie and it was very good, so I took my parents here when they came and visited me at university. I was unbelievably disappointed. My salmon was TINY and dryer than bone. Our server seemed very new and after waiting for half an hour for our food, offered the dessert. We told her we would have some when we were done, but she came back 10 minutes later when we still weren't done and offered again. She ended up just bringing the check before one of our party members got to order their dessert. We got charged twice for the salad my mom had, but it was fixed quickly. I was thinking I would apply to work here as a student but after this experience, I've changed my mind. Pie was good, though. That was why I gave two stars and not one star. Pretty sad. read more

First-time experience at Shari's Café and Pies. We took our daughter here for a goodbye breakfast before her freshman year at Sonoma State. As I expected it was in the Denny's/Baker's Square realm. The pies in the display case near the cash register did look spectacular and worth a trip just to purchase a pie. The atmosphere was casual, as expected, mainly booth seating. It took a few minutes to get seated and the waitress was nice but, I think, overworked. It took almost the entire meal to get a requested glass of water. and a promised spoon was never delivered. We ordered a frittata, an "all-day" breakfast featuring pancakes, hash browns, scrambled eggs, and ham, bacon, and sausage; and I ordered biscuits and gravy. The frittata was good, fresh, tasty served with a generous dollop salad greens on top. The all-day breakfast was good but really too much for one person to eat. Three of us sampled the pancakes, hash browns, and eggs and did not finish all of it. That said, I thought the pancakes were fine, the hash browns were good, and the eggs were okay. I did not try any of the breakfast meats. I was disappointed in my biscuits and gravy. Inexplicably the biscuits were served in a HUGE pasta plate with a two-inch wide rim all around the bowl - the sort of thing in which your fettuccini Alfredo might arrive at Olive Garden. It was a bizarre vessel for any kind of breakfast food. The biscuits were hard and old, not fresh. The ones in the middle, untouched by any gravy, were too hard to eat. The white gravy was okay - the sausage in the gravy was sliced breakfast sausage, not crumbled sausage as is typical in sausage gravy. That was slightly off putting but did not impact the flavor. I ate most of the biscuits but left the rock hard ones in the center of the pile on the plate. My husband wanted pie tonight and I remembered seeing the sign for this place... we drove over around 8pm and there was only a few diners inside but they were open. Staff was all really nice and seated us immediately. Our waitress was friendly and on the ball. She recommended a few pies for us and I went with her suggestion - the lemon sour cream. My husband got the Marionberry Cheesecake. Man... those were great pies! Both of them were meant to be served chilled and they were the perfect temperature. Mine was so bright and lemony tasting. I loved it. My husbands was awesome too. The texture of the cheescake was phenomenal. I liked his crust better than mine, but still, mine was great. This has got to be one of the most disgusting establishment's that I have ever encountered, 06:45 In the morning: I observe feces splattered in both toilets, paper towel bin were filled up. As I sit at my booth waiting to order, I notice food splatter on the interior siding of the restaurant, peices food under my table on the floor and throughout the restaurant. I lost my appetite and walked. I can only imagine what is going on in the kitchen...I'm not gonna chance it. The owner of this restaurant should be ashamed of him / herself. We dined here and it was awful. There was a female repeatedly screaming in the kitchen. The music was blasting in the dinning area. The bathroom was dirty and disgusting. The food made my mom sick. All I ordered was an English muffin and when the server told me they were out I asked for toast. I was served 1 small slice of bread and charged $3.99 for a slice of bread. She was super friendly and super attentive but running around doing the job of three to four people is not cool. It was terrible to see that she had no support whatsoever. She was seating people, taking orders, serving people, getting drinks, hell I'm wondering if she even went in the back and cook the food for everybody! we finally tried out this place which is a local nw establishment/chain. they have a large breakfast menu served all day, decent lunch and dinner options. best part is the pie selection - so many to choose from. we tried the club sandwich w/tater tots, blackened salmon w/broccoli & cheddar biscuit, berry trio pie and dutch apple pie. all were decent. the berry trio pie is a bit too sweet for me so will try another pie next time ;) server was lovely and attentive. they also offer pies to go so may be a good place to consider holiday shopping when local bakers are full! plus they offer rewards pgm. when u sign up, u get a free slice of pie and also on your bday. enjoy having local options for diner type food and pie :) read more

I'm giving my review 3 stars because the food was not so good! The service was great and so was the dessert. We stopped in 2 nights ago and I ordered a chicken fried steak dinner which was worse than a TV dinner and I am pretty sure it was frozen. The meal was cool but the mashed potatoes were refrigerator cold. So, the waitress warmed it up, just what I wanted ..... to eat out and have to my meal microwaved! The potatoes came back hot on the top but still cold on the inside. Another waitress brought me a side of mashed in a bowl that she nuked to the point they were like sticky rice and inedible! My husbands dinner was good, he ordered the sirloin but the steak was the size of a big meat ball and just as round. We had pie and cheese cake for dessert and both were delicious. We placed a pie order one week in advance and made sure with the staff it would be okay to pick-up at 9pm on Mother's Day when my partner got off of work. We ordered banana cream pie and chocolate pie, banana cream pie being the favorite of the guest of honor. My partner arrived to pick-up and they had sold the banana cream pie from our order earlier in the day because someone else had wanted it and we were not there yet - despite our pick-up time being 9pm and my partner getting there at 9:05pm. 3 1/2 Stars Shari's Cafe & Pies came into locations previously held by Baker's Square Restaurants, and before that Sambo's Restaurants, if anyone remembers that far back. The Shari's in Rohnert Park has been around for about five years I'd guess, and I really had not been interested in trying it again, until just recently. I frequented Baker's Square many years ago with my first fiancee and found the food and service good---I was satisfied. But, after that relationship ended I wanted to find more upscale places to breakfast. I tried Shari's again a couple years ago when I was fighting with my wife, because Shari's was the only 24 hour place around and I would go hide there late at night when I was so upset. The menu then was not that much different then Baker's Square had. Lately, I have been on my "nostalgia tour" and checked out Shari's again. I was pleasantly surprised to see such an improvement in the menu! Many more items, "healthy" items, upscale dinners, a lot of interesting variety. I've gone three times in the last couple weeks and I am very happy with the food and service. The restaurant itself is what is in badly need of a remodel. It is clean and nice enough, it just feels not up to par with the very good menu and general direction the company seems headed. If not for that, I would gladly give Shari's in Rohnert Park 4 stars. I wish I could add negative stars. My wife's openface turkey sandwich tasted like saline insoles; complete with a piece of foreign, mystery paper included. My banana cream pie had a dark side to it and I'm not referring to Star Wars. Out of this "Dark-side", I kept pulling black banana after black banana after black banana out of my "dessert" I stopped at five. I did not even have one bite; And I really wanted this pie, badly. Best value in California for a delicious takeout pie. I've been a 50-year fan of strawberry rhubarb pies, and a frequent pie-shop patron in San Mateo, Newport Beach, and now Santa Rosa. Very good filling of excellent texture rhubarb and strawberry. My wife remarked the crust is a nice buttery, not dry. My son and his friend both liked it. The crust was lightly dented to outline where to cut for six slices. What makes it the best value is the price -- less than half of what other pie shops charge. read more

Chicago guy on the hunt for a decent slice of cheesecake. First off, in Chicago the big cheesecake is Eli's, decadent and rich, great stuff. It's only rival is Cheesecake factory but y'all are a year or so away from one of those opening in these parts of Sonoma county. San Rafael has a Cheesecake factory, FYI and that is the nearest location to here. One slice of cheesecake cost me roughly $5 with tax. In comparison to the Bakers Square that used to reside here, the slice is much smaller. Also, it tastes like mix out of a box and chemicals are used in its process. There was an overwhelming mechanical taste to it, the cheese was grainy. Blech! I should add that the crust on the back fell off and in all, it tasted so bad I chucked it after two bites. I contemplated returning the next day for my money back but the server failed to give me a receipt. Aside from the other, I had a slice of Montana cherry pie and that was good as store bought cherry pie available at any typical GMO, chain, grocery store. The cherry pie was roughly less than three dollars. The cut of pie I got was a wreck when it was boxed but, I mean, it's pie and I get that this happens sometimes. However, how appetizing does it look when the pie is looking more like a totaled car than pie. I wonder if they would serve it to someone on a plate (?) I highly doubt that. I hope. Eight dollars total for the two slices of pie. I'll note that they do offer some full pies for as low as $9. or $10.99 Another side note. Walked in to find two customers ahead of me. Three more groups behind me all waited patiently for about ten minutes. Everyone stood in the entryway wondering why there wasn't any greeter at the counter. Two couples waited to pay their bills after dining. Meanwhile we saw waitresses coming and going between the dining area and the kitchen. Solid three star diner, which unless you're some kind of retro gourmet novelty diner is about the best you can get! Totally convenient with its 24/7 service. I forsee more than a few nights here in the future as we tend to host very late night conversations with guests. Not a whole lot for vegetarians to order without modifying the plates, but that's not unusual. I got the potato pancakes which were delicious but heavy (oily) and came with sour cream and green onion. My date seemed satisfied with his French toast and cleaned his plate. We shared a Marion berry pie shake which was tasty but I'd avoid it if you're weird about textures. They blend it with crust and all so it's a little bit chunky. Hadn't been here in a long time, but came in this morning with my daughter. She got a pancake meal, and I got the eggs Benedict. It wasn't the best, the point of an eggs Benedict is to have the egg be runny it wasn't runny, which sucked. You won't have issues getting parking. It's in a big shopping center. We have been ordering takeout. The food is very good and the service is excellent. They called us in advance about a replacement and solved an issue --we were very pleased with the replacement. Highly recommend the fried chicken strips. I order with fresh fruit and everything is tasty and delicious. We have not been to Shari's in person but intend to go in the future. read more
