    Breakfast Sandwich

This was a very good breakfast sandwich. Great bacon and plenty of egg and cheese. I would come back for it. Service was prompt.

Such a nice place to hang out. Today after a hike we sat for some tea and and coffee. The patio is great and the people are truly nice.

I was looking for a quick coffee before getting on the road, so I stopped here for the first time ever. First impressions was that there is a ton of outdoor seating. You stand to order at the front and then they bring it out to you. I had the Lavender Chai which I really enjoyed. It was the perfect amount of sweetness, and the lavender flavor was a nice touch. The breakfast menu wasn't overly extensive but they had lunch available to order starting at 11am.

I met some friends here for breakfast on Sunday morning. It was busy, but not overwhelmingly so. We ordered at the counter, took our number, and then had no trouble finding a nice table under the covered seating area. Some planters or other decor on the patio might liven up the space a bit. Sheldon's has a large breakfast / brunch / lunch menu, offers an assortment of baked goods, as well as lots of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. It is situated in a former gas station, and I love how the space has been repurposed. The service was fine and appropriate. Our food came out very quickly. My breakfast bowl was freshly & simply prepared. The hash browns were a little dry, but the salsa & guacamole helped to jazz up the whole thing. Without the salsa, it did not have a whole lot of flavor, but it was edible, and also reasonably priced at $12.05. The soup and sandwich and açai bowl both looked fresh as well. My companions enjoyed their food. All in all, this is a cute place for a quick bite to eat in a pleasant and casual atmosphere when you're in the La Mesa area. Mahalo!

Favorite brunch spot in San Diego. No flashy Instagram photo ops, no weird niche that screams "we try too hard". Just solid food, quick service, and a good value (even in this economy). I love their chorizo bowl, Benedict, or the ability to make my own dish with the affordable sides menu (hashbrowns + hollandaise is the best!) Ive dabbled in their lunch menu and really enjoyed it, especially the potato soup! I usually crave breakfast food when im here, though Make sure you get the megamosa- a giant mimosa, its perfect any time of the day.

My sister was flexed at work and texted me the question "wanna grab breakfast? It was only 8:30am and even though I don't usually eat this early, I don't miss an opportunity to bond with family! We opted to eat outside on such a beautiful Friday morning! It's a tad cool so we sat under the heaters but not getting the direct heat...just right. We both got Cortados for caffeine. And for calories she got the breakfast sandwich and I, Sheldon's Breakfast Bowl. Boy those wide bacon strips were crunchy ! Not too salty and not overly cooked. Requested the eggs to be over easy so the yolk still bleeds onto the smallish hash browns that are hiding underneath. The patio area is bright and lively with conversation. We were seated with an unobstructed view of the street. The order arrived fast but the serving size were underwhelming. My sister has eaten lunch here before so when I suggested we go here, she was ok with it.

Looking for a place to have breakfast, I came across Sheldon's Service Station. It is a nice area, lots of space to sit outside and the service was nice and quick. Food was good as well. You need to go to the register to order your meal, pay and then you grab a number for your table. I really like this way of service, which cuts down the time you get served. Would have loved some more ambiance, decorations and music. If you are in the area, please try them out and share your own experiences. Happy meals!

I got a few items from this place after a hike. The bagel and lox (my favorite of the two), caprese and avocado toast, banana nut muffin and a chai tea latte. The food was really good! Service was quick! I was shocked I'd never seen this place before. No real complaints, the food was really good, maybe a touch expensive for what we got.

    Half turkey sandwich and fruit

Not a bad option but not somewhere I'd rush back for. Located on the end of the main street in downtown La Mesa, they have a huge outdoor patio so seating wasn't an issue at all when I went on a Tues at 12:30. You order at the counter, get a number and they bring your food out to you. They have a lot of options for drinks that are coffee and tea based. For food they have the standard breakfast options, sandwiches and salads. They have a small assortment of baked goods as well. I got the half turkey sandwich and a side of fruit. The bread on the sandwich was sourdough and had a good flavor. It was toasted but didn't come warm at all. It felt like it was toasted a whole ago. The sandwich components were cheese, lettuce, tomato, turkey and a cranberry aioli. I thought the cranberry flavor would come through more but was very lightly there. The fruit was standard mix of pineapple, watermelon and orange. The prices are pretty high for what you get. My meal after tax and tip was close to $13 and the portion isn't huge.

I'm sure I've reviewed this breakfast spot before but I'm going to hype up their muffins once again. Their muffins are to die for! So moist and big on size! I crave it every now and then so we go there about every two months to feed my cravings. My favorite flavor is the chocolate muffin. Second place is lemon poppy. The blueberry and cranberry muffins come in third and finally we have the banana nut muffin

My favorite La Mesa breakfast spot, and I really like they're coffee Second best part is outside seating right on La Mesa blvd. ( and of course pet friendly, so fiona approved)

This particular location is a stylish, full-service restaurant. And, overall, the restaurant prices itself on its modern take on breakfast, brunch and dinner. Some of their go to items are Eggs in Purgatory, the Smoked Salmon Toast, the Stuffed French Toast and their mimosas, which change regularly (and you can get the bottomless mimosas for $25). I am a super fan of their potatoes, Eggs Benedict options and gently cooked eggs. The ambiance is cozy and cool, and even though it gets very busy, it doesn't feel crammed or overwhelming. I appreciate the attentiveness and thoughtfulness of the team here. They appear to have planned comfort over everything, because even the tables are crammed next to one another too close that you can hear your neighbor breathing. Plus, the space is bright and open with a clean and modern feel. I love that the large windows let in plenty of natural light and, when it is cooler out, a lovely breeze. Given the food, ambiance and service, it really is a perfect spot for brunch. Other food options include (and are sometimes on rotation): roasted salmon, duck tacos, short ribs, burgers and wood-fired pizzas. They also serve wine, beer and craft cocktails. They also have lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options.

The host was very nice and personable so we didn't mind waiting at all. The decor/ambiance was nice throughout. Sadly we got seated at one of the bar height tables on the patio that had EXTREMELY uncomfortable tall metal chairs that had an unusual tilt to the seats leaning down towards the back (all 3 people in our party were super uncomfortable and left with horrible back back and numb legs). So just a tip, make sure you request to sit at a normal height table, they seemed fine in comparison as far as we observed. On a positive note, our waitress was very friendly and attentive, unfortunately we were not able to change tables when we asked but we understood because they were so busy. We were determined to make the best of it though because we were all really looking forward to the food and drinks after reading so many good reviews. We all ordered different specialty drinks which were fine, a little to syrupy and overly sweet for our taste but I could see how some might like that, the presentation was seriously lacking compared to the photos on their website though, again we just chalked this up to them being busy so no big deal, just a bummer because we wanted to cute tasty drinks for our ladies night out. The biggest bummer though was the food... We ordered everything our waitress recommended, so perhaps the kitchen was just having an off night because they were so busy.. It did take well over an hour to get served after ordering, but we are troopers and wouldn't have minded waiting so long if the chairs hadn't been so uncomfortable. But we were seriously disappointed with every dish, everything was "fine and edible" but lacked any real flavor. These are the dishes we had: Appetizer - Tabla de Antojitos (presentation was okay) platter included: Chicken barbacoa empanadas (very bland) Sweet potato, caramelized onion & chipotle taquitos (flavorless and used regular potato not sweet potato) Mini queso fundido (was literally just cheese and beans with no chorizo or seasoning at all) Bacon wrapped jalapenos (these were okay, just nothing special) Entrees - Enchiladas Marisco Suiza - Presentation was good, it was a pretty dish thanks to the sauce and looked promising, but unfortunately the food was very bland, seriously lacking in the flavor department. Birria de la Abuela - Presentation was lacking it looked like someone just threw the food on the plate, and it was edible but not good. Crispy Carnitas - This we all agreed was the most edible thing we got. Presentation was lacking, but the beans and carnitas had good flavor and was cooked just right. It still wasn't "great", but it was better than everything else we had ordered. Overall we were pleased with the staff we encountered during our visit all very friendly, but very disappointed in the food. We left in agreement that we could've spent a fraction of the cost at just about any of our local friendly taco shops for the same or similar dishes and had much better tasting food.
