I joined a few coworker's for dinner here this week. I was wondering what all the fuss was about behind this place. Well I found out...My VERDICT is in...OMG I'm in love. However with falling in love comes a few problems. Here are my two issues... #1; I ordered the chicken wings appetizer 5 wings for $5.99. I requested all drumettes. The waitress didn't make me aware there was an substitution fee. Which increased the price from $5.99 to $7.99. I was like FOR REAL??? #2; GROUPS OF FOUR OR MORE HAVE TO PAY 20% Gratuity per bill. I don't have an issue with tipping the wait staff, but based upon their performance. Plus you can't count my coins for your employees. On to the positive points;-) I won't say it was expensive as they serve seafood, so you must expect it will be costly. I ordered the chicken wings(5pcs), a pound of snow crabs, half a pound of peel and eat shrimp, potatoes(3 whole) and corn(1pc). All mixed together with garlic, lemon pepper, Cuban and another seasoning w/a kick of heat. The crab was tender, the shrimp was big and easy to peel. The potatoes were bland which wasn't a disappointment because the seasoning on the food was enough. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. Emily was our waitress she was nice and attentive, but she just needs to know the menu a little better. I will definitely be making plans to head back for more seafood. read more

So I have given this particular spot a few trys and can actually say there are better options in Garland. Every time we get something other then lemon pepper it is way too salty. Recommend trying Boiling Crab or even The Crab Station. read more

Me and my wife have eaten at this location and the one in Tyler too many times to count lol. The one thing I always loved was the great service and the consistent quality of there food. On the last visit we had a small issue with our food and the Manager Mr Rubio took care of it. We had a really good experience here. Probably some of the best Catfish I've ever had. Whatever seasoning they use in the batter is GOLDEN! I also ordered a lb. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday because she wanted a new crab place from out original(crab station check it out) and we get there and get seated the place wasn't very packed for it being a Saturday night we then had to wait 15 -20 mins for a waiter to take our drink order and that's only because the manager I assume saw me and my girlfriend looking around for anyone that may be our waiter then after this we ordered a all star, champion boil and a side of steamed white rice with mild and kitchen sink . the wait for the food was about average for any crab place however when we got the food it was so salty like they had accidentally salt into it they also didn't bring me the things needed for crab so I asked for that and we also had to ask for a spoon for the rice finally after eating (didn't send it back because my gf just wanted to eat) we then asked for the check and the waiter gave it to me however forgot to apply the discount I had asked before I orders due to their special however my waiter then proceeded to not come back and get my payment so I could tell her she forgot my discount and keep in mind it's not busy in my section or in the restaurant. Another waiter had to come and take my payment which is just sad because the waiter literally took somebody else's order right next to our table the lady who took my payment was sweet about the discount which was the only good part about this visit I then left. Good lord. I gave them a second chance after years of when i was disappointed and decided to give them another shot. Service is fine. But the portion sizes they give you? Terrible. The fried shrimp? Tasteless. How do you mess up fried shrimp? Crawfish? Tiniest babies in the sea. The snow crab? Lucky if you get one claw. Drinks? Lucky if you get half a shot. I've come here about 6 times and the service progressively has gotten worse. If you decide to sit at the bar, because there is a wait for a table... BEWARE!!! Asked for sweetener and never recieved it, so, I went to waitress station to get my own. Food was great, albeit now pretty cool temp wise. The couple was eventually served. One single had ordered but never recieved her meal while I was there! The other poor lady next to me still hadn't even been asked about her drink, let alone her order. I warned them when they all set down that service at the bar was very minimal, especially with 3 bartenders back there never making eye contact!!! As I stated... the food was good, but, was missing the sausage and asked the bartender to take it off the bill, he said ok and still didn't do it. Needless to say, NO TIO WAS LEFT BECAUSE NO TIP WAS DESERVED!!! The lady who had ordered still had not received her meal by the time I finally left. The other lady next to me, left when I did because she never recieved any service! If you've got a whole night to kill... perfect! My normal Dallas Crab place didn't open until 3 so I decided to try this spot. Bonus - when I asked "Mike" - I think one of the mangers what TYPE of snow crab they had he was very knowledgeable and presented both accordingly. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Baridi snow Crab here. The service was prompt and the food came eerily quick. Everything was perfectly cooked. A lot of times when you receive low country boil type dishes the shrimp are over cooked or the potatoes are under cooked but everything was perfectly prepared down to the corn. I've been eating at the Shell Shack franchise for about 3 or 4 years and I have to honestly say it was the worst shell shack I ever had. I had to ASK to get a waitress to my table and they weren't even super busy here. My shrimp was over cooked. The majority of my "sauce" was just seasoning. I've liked shell shack for their kitchen sink flavor and honestly I'm very disappointed that it was ALL seasoning. It's screaming health problems. The sausage seems very different as well. Whatever they changed it to is disgusting and did not pair well with the seafood. So very disappointed. There needs to be some major changes before I ever come back. read more

I have been to this place twice in the past, not the best top quality seafood spot but decent. I have visited recently for the third time and had the worst experience. My partner and I decided to stop by on a Friday night. Server took our drink and appetizer orders. Fried pickles came out soggy with barley to no breading. Our frozen margaritas tasted off. We ordered the date night package boil, which had clusters of snow crab, crab legs, and shrimp. The food came out cold and bland. As we were eating the meat was squishy and mushy, and some pieces looked rotten and grey. After a few bites we weren't satisfied and asked for the check which came to be over $200 not including the tip. We have ordered the same thing previously and never paid this much, and for just two people! They gave us a $20 off discount but overall worst experience, never coming back and still ended up with food poisoning. read more

Have visited twice recently. 1st visit: place not busy, sat at the bar, good bartender, enjoyed it 2nd visit: not so great. Asked the server about an item on the blackboard (salmon), and she had never heard anything about it. Said she would find out, but never did. I could have reminded her and asked again, and I know it's a little thing, but it sort of tells you how the evening went. We ordered oysters and shrimp as appetizers. It took a long time for them to arrive, but that's okay. Oysters - large and plump, no complaints - but I have never had raw oysters in any restaurant that didn't also give you lemon slices, crackers, cocktail sauce, etc. There was one tiny lemon slice and no crackers. I asked for some, but they were never brought. (she apologized later for forgetting). We asked for lemons, and we did get those. Wedge salad - this is not a traditional wedge salad, but it's good. It is romaine leaves with red onion, grape tomatoes, crumbled bacon and blue cheese. When I ordered, I asked for blue cheese dressing on the side. It came without any dressing, just the blue cheese crumbles, so I had to ask for dressing. Actually, this is what I ordered on both visits, and this happened on both visits - no dressing. I've never had this problem anywhere else. Several tables around us finished and left and we had to sit and look at their dirty dishes for a long time before the tables were cleared. Not very appetizing. Again, this seems to be a problem management needs to address. Our server was sweet and tried hard. My family enjoyed their crab boils, shrimp boils, corn, sausage, french fries, hush puppies. I'm sure I will visit again. The food is good. It's just a shame that with a little training or attention to the little things (like clearing tables promptly, training staff about the menu, and greeting people as soon as they're seated), this place could be 5 stars. However, the general manager worked her tail off to find and broadcast the game. Our waitress, Kelcie, was just terrific! I was in the area in mid-June, visiting a friend who had recently relocated. We decided to try this place out for lunch. Since we were new to the area and this restaurant, we needed an idea of how things worked. Our waitress, Valeri was a pro in doing this! She was able to explain the difference between the types of crab, flavours and heat intensity with ease! She was extremely helpful and made our dining experience fantastic! I ended up ordering the Dungeness Crab with The Kitchen Sink (cajun, garlic and lemon pepper) seasoning and with a medium level of heat. That along with the broccoli and potatoes was fantastic! The meal can be a bit messy, so Shell Shack gives you gloves and a bib in addition to the tools to break the crab meat from its shell. They also have an automatic hand washer near the restroom! I will definitely try this place again when I'm in town. read more

Well, we are miles from any coast, so there isn't any need to be confused about what you're getting when you come to a seafood chain restaurant. It's not bad; in fact it's a pretty fun environment. The staff is fun and upbeat and the food is pretty good. But, at the end of the day... it's a chain restaurant serving seafood, in North Texas. I would eat local every time before coming here. That "manager" was cross contaminating the entire restaurant, and so disgusting and vile. The food has been very good in the past, however this time we ordered 4 pounds of crawfish and every batch had a handful of soft shells that had to be thrown away. Obviously did not check the shipment for quality or take care of the crawfish before cooking. Service is still atrocious. Waited 10 minutes after seating for drinks. Was there over 2 hours, water got 1 refill, sweet tea was taken away and never brought back refilled. Forgot to put in our boil order twice. Waited over 30 minutes for a boil order with a half empty restaurant. (But the table of college guys got our server's undivided attention while we were there.)
