    Traditional egg tarts

You might like this bakery if you're not a fan of sweet treats. Very mild in flavor and fresh pastry. I stopped by the store when they have special promotion buy 5 get 1 free egg tarts. Very reasonable price and fresh, however it might be a bit bland for some people as it's very mild in sugar.

I used to like Shengji's taro cake, but I will never eat it again. On 5/12, I bought a taro cake. When I got home, the taro paste was very hard and sour. It had never been like this before. I was really disappointed. I will never go to her house to buy things again. The picture is what I took that day. You can see that it is all hard and not fresh at all. I will never go there again.

Was walking around the plaza and decided to check this place out. Ended up trying the dan taat and the coconut shreds-coated cream bread. My boyfriend also tried those and their rectanular garlic bread. The dan taat custard is too thick for my preference but I clearly tasted the egg and the crust was good (like pie crust). The coconut bread is really simple and delicious, definitely something I would get. For the prices, I can't complain and if one were closer to home, I would definitely go more often.

we ordered: - custard tart - hk chestnut cake 8" food: one of the only bakeries that still has a decent chestnut cake! we felt like it had less chestnut filling and fruit than before, but the cake is still nicely flavored and moist. custard tarts were good as well- very flaky though. i also like the brioche bread here! service: one worker helped us- she was very cheerful and kind! she was also understanding of the frosting flaw and discounted it a bit which was nice. ambiance: smaller and a bit shabbier than the other bakeries of the same chain ive been to, but they still have a decent selection of baked goods. it's located in a large asian plaza near many other plazas with good restaurants and snacks!

If you're a lover of moon cakes then you'll love their Lychee or Lotus Moon Cakes! While visiting Milpitas, I stumbled upon these moon cakes on a shelf in their bakery. I noticed them by there unique color and by their familiar size and shape. The moon cakes seem a bit pricey but their definitely worth trying! The Lychee Moon Cake was like a flavor explosion. In my opinion, it tasted very much like lychee and was perfectly sweet. The lotus moon cake is always a favorite of mine. I like the lotus flavor better than any other moon cake and it did not disappoint! What I like about moon cakes is that they have a good bite to them, they have unique flavor combinations, they have a intricate and delicate exterior, and they are delicious! I definitely recommend you try one during the Lunar New Year or even now!

12/27/21 Danish Almond Toast, Green Tea Mochi Danish, Portuguese Custard Tart, Lychee MoonCake

12/27/21 My daughter's favorite chain bakery. Sheng Kee means "to make a living." Quality/Quantity - Again, my daughter's favorite. It also has some varieties that we can not find elsewhere. Danish Almond Toast Green Tea Mochi Danish - this is a hit!! Good balance with the tea flavor and mochi texture. Portuguese Custard Tart - My daughter got this because of my Oakland Napoleon Super Bakery Yelp; it was not as good as the PO tart from Napoleon Lychee MoonCake - we can't find this anywhere else. This is bite size and the most expensive thing we bought, but worth it. Much better than regular mooncakes. Atmosphere - Consistent throughout chain. Clean and good flow. Service - Good Price - $11.60, Prices are a little above average, but sometimes you just have to pay for good quality. Owner Suggestion - Congrats on all your successes with your 11 stores in the Bay Area. We have been shopping since you opened your store in SF in 1981.

HK-style bakery with that iconic super crinkly clear bag from Asian-bakeries. It's predictable and if you come here you know you are getting pastries with lots of breading that will burn faster than normal when you reheat it in a toaster oven. I love the savory stuff found near the cash register, the meat buns and the traditional Egg tarts + Portuguese egg tarts. There were also tea-hardboiled eggs up there as well. Hot dog buns are found in the normal area in the plastic boxes. My wife likes like the plain thick toast and the custard filled bun. We get this every couple months and use these as a snack throughout the weekend. This is smaller than the Sheng Kee in Union City but we think the quality is a little better.

Chinese baked goods It was something like 85°C Bakery Café but I found the baked goods here better. The inside is small and may not look as appealing as an 85° store but they have a good selection of Taiwanese-based pastries, cakes & bread. They also sold coffee drinks. The concept is similar to 85°C... you take a tray and a tong, choose your pastries/bread and place it on your tray. Pay at the counter when you're done with your selections. I got my favorite chocolate croissants and BBQ Bun. They also have individually boxed moon cakes and a variety of buns: custard, pineapple custard raisin, dirty, puff pork sung etc. The employees don't interact with the customers too much. Not sure if they are limited in their English-speaking but the bakery has a nice assortment of pastries at good value for the price! Parking is huge. It is located in the same shopping center as Lion Supermarket. Wish we had a Sheng Kee Bakery nearby. Closest one to me is in Richmond or Berkeley. Review #1753

Their curry pork puff and mooncakes are really good. They're one of the better chinese bakeries here in the bay.

Is this different than the chain sheng kee bakery?

This is part of the chain but I would say quality is above the ones I've gone to in Union City and Cupertino

Does this bakery have Japanese Cheesecake?

They have the small soft asian cheesecakes in the refrigerated section.

First off, the place is super cute but also kind of overwhelming in the best way. There are literally walls of bread and pastries everywhere, and so many options that I didn't even know where to start. I went in planning to spend just a few bucks on Señorita bread and somehow walked out $20 deep with a whole box of stuff. I ended up trying turon, a puto sampler, a bunch of different donuts, and of course the Ube Señorita bread. Honestly, everything was so good. Like fresh fresh. The bread was still warm in my hands, which made it even better. The staff didn't really speak much English, but it honestly wasn't an issue at all. They were super patient and helpful, and still managed to explain what everything was so I could try new things. At the end, I just told one of the ladies I had $20 and wanted to try a variety, and she literally put together a whole selection for me. That was probably my favorite part. The line was kind of long, but it makes sense because the food is clearly worth it. If anything, it just reassured me I was in the right place. Overall, if you're even thinking about trying Señorita bread or just want to explore Filipino pastries, this spot is 100 percent worth it. Just be prepared to go in for one thing and walk out with way more.

My favorites are the Spanish bread commonly known as a señorita bread stuffed with buttery breadcrumbs and brown sugar a great breakfast snack goes very well with halo-halo a traditional Filipino dessert then there's a hopia monggo stuffed with mung bean paste, hopia ube both 4 for $5.99 and chicken empanada for a mere $3.25 which had pork and beef but everything else is well stock and organized they even have drinks. Valerio's Tropical Bakery is on my top list of freshly baked Filipino bread rolls.

Husband called them around 11am and they said they were in the middle of making their strawberry cakes so they could add our order in for a same day pickup at 4pm. Pickup went well and the cake was so cute and it tasted great! Like the Chinese bakery strawberry cream cake with a moist sponge cake; not too sweet, just right. Might sound basic but it was done very well. Would 100% recommend. I don't know prices for cakes nowadays but I didn't feel bad paying about $60 for a cute and tasty cake (6", strawberry cream cake). I wouldn't bank on same day pickups, I might've just been very lucky they were in the middle of making their cakes but it wouldn't hurt to try calling early in the day if you're in a pinch for a solid cake. I'm very thankful for their service!

Izumi seemed perfect given the fact that there are a good variation of sizes that could be bought. Not everyone is a matcha lover and our family tends to gravitate away from cakes, we appreciated the smaller options. The Kyoto Matcha was purchased. The design was simply but had a slightly fancy feel to it- exactly what we were hoping for! There was strong scent of matcha coming from the top drip design and we couldn't be more excited for our matcha bae. Fast Forward: The cake is super soft, fluffy, and oh so very light. The cake in itself was not super sweet- very typical of Asian cakes. The matcha flavor was unfortunately too mellow for us. 3 stars for the cake in itself but the rating is bumped up to a 4 because the presentation is so cute! Matcha wasn't what we were looking for but we may be inclined to try other flavors in the future.

Sure enough I was able to get 4 pineapple buns plus I thought I try their bbq pork buns. The pineapple buns were soft and the topping wasn't as flaky as the Hong Kong pineapple buns. The sweetness level and bun were light whereas the Hong Kong is much sweeter and slightly heavier. I say their pineapple bun is decent and their bbq pork bun is smaller than the Hong Kong version.
