First time at hibachi and it was the best experience! I got the filet mignon plate and the meat was tender and the fried rice was super flavorful. You need to douse everything in the Yum Yum sauce. Employees were kind and attentive and chef Angel was a great time. The place itself was pretty spacious! Great for a meal or an occasion.

Shima Restaurant was really good! The staff is attentive and super nice, making the experience even better. The food is tasty, the service is excellent, and it's very affordable. Definitely a great spot for a delicious meal!

Last night we took our kids ad a special treat after seeing the yelp reviews. Our table was ready when we got there so we didn't have to wait at all. While waiting for our food we were able to watch the table next to us and the chef was doing great tricks while serving so we all got excited. Even though our chef was very nice and talkative the only trick we got was the volcano. When you go to a restaurant like this you pay for the show more then food. We were all shocked wheb he cleaned and left since we were expecting something more like the other table. Most likely will not be going back. At least the food was good.

    Sooooo Yummy!!

    The broken water heater

I haven't dined at Shima Restaurant as a customer, but I recently had a very negative experience with their owner Ricky as a local plumbing contractor. They called my company on a Saturday to urgently fix their broken water heater, as they had no hot water. We responded quickly and diagnosed the issue on-site. The service call fee was a reasonable $199 for weekend emergency service. However, after the work was completed, the owner/manager refused to pay the invoice, falsely claiming they had canceled the appointment (which they did not-- we have records of the confirmed call-out). Unfortunately, this means the restaurant is still operating without proper hot water. From what I observed, they're currently washing dishes and utensils with only lukewarm water, which raises serious concerns about sanitation and food safety in a food service establishment. Restaurants are required by health codes to have adequately hot water for proper dishwashing and hygiene to prevent bacterial contamination. I strongly advise potential customers to be cautious and perhaps check recent health inspection reports before dining here. Disappointing lack of integrity from the management--small businesses should support each other, not stiff hardworking tradespeople.

Decent Benihana type place. Chef put on a good show. Unfortunately all of the food was bland. The place was packed full of people. Half of the customers were children, but remarkably the ambiance wasn't noisy. I guess all the kids were captivated by the show. The entrees come with a shrimp appetizer. If you order steak and shrimp, you simply get more of that same shrimp. The egg rolls were a pretty good appetizer. The miso soup is watered down. The wine list is a rather low quality selection. The large bottle of Sapporo was good. Great service!

The person making the food did a great job performing. The food was fine but I have had better Teppan at other places.

How many people does your largest table seat?

Comfortably, 17. It is arranged for typically 8 people per side, additionally there is enough space for another in the middle. But if you don't mind rubbing elbows, you can seat 20.

How much per person for the tapon table of 8?

There is no set price "per person," it is entirely dependent on what is ordered.

Do you have anything for vegans?

    Yes!

Today, the entire restaurant was full! It wasn't loud but you could hear a few of the larger tables conversing, not a real issue. The lunch menu has a great variety. The combos include sushi, tempura, teriyaki. And all combos include soup or cucumber salad and rice. I had my favorite today, teriyaki chicken. The chicken was grilled and flavorful, cooked perfectly! It also came with tempura shrimp and veggies. Nothing was greasy, nice and fresh too. All of their lunch specials are competitively priced, compared to other lunch specials, not necessarily Japanese food and not as good as Matsu. I can't wait until my next visit. Note the hours. They close for what I call a "siesta". Not sure what they call it in Japanese.

I have never met a server, a bartender, a cook that didnt go the extra mile for us! The owner herself is no different! They all are so fabulous! This past week we had Paul and his team of coworkers, Gabriel at the bar and I cant praise them enough! A really long, stressful month thus far resulted in needing a night out. A family member was finally back in town and we decided to meet at Matsu. While Amy was off, we were treated just as fabulously by Paul and team. Gabriel at the bar made excellent cocktails! Everything from our fresh nigiri to our teppan combo was delicious and fresh and nicely sized portions. I can go on and on, but if you want a darker, cool chill vibe, do the bar area. If you want teppan theatrics and fun, reserve the teppan. If you want a larger party restaurant atmosphere. They have that too! Its clean, its nice, its delicious!!! My favorite is the Lychee martini, my friends love the apple martinis, but I'll say, you can even just drink an iced water and you're still gonna love this place! Give it a try, you won't regret it! This is the type of business and employees I have zero problems supporting and recommending! Thank you for another great night Matsu!

Once the whole party was seated & our order was taken, we received our delicious ginger salad and miso soup quickly. When our chef arrived he was ready to put on a show! He was so fun, engaging and very genuine. All of the food was amazing. I got the filet mignon steak w/ fried rice and my husband gets the sumo steak. The filet mignon is definitely worth it but if you prefer more meat, the sumo steak is the way to go. The drinks are affordable and compared to other teppanyaki places, the food is affordable and absolutely worth it. They also offer a happy hour in the dining room only - does not include the teppanyaki grill area. Truly one of our favorite places!!

3.5/5 Stars - Nice Experience, But Some Service and Timing Issues…read more We visited Tabi-Ji Teppanyaki for my husband's birthday and had an overall decent experience, though there were a few things that would make us think twice before returning. We chose the dining room seating rather than the teppanyaki tables. The staff did offer us the teppanyaki experience, but since we don't eat red meat or chicken from certain places and weren't sure how the food preparation process worked with mixed ingredients, we opted for a regular table instead. One downside was the seating arrangement. We were seated away from most of the other guests, and it often felt like the staff forgot we were there. Our original host/server was attentive and friendly, but once they were busy with other tasks, it became difficult to get assistance. It was also not busy for a Tuesday evening. We found ourselves waiting for long periods or having to wave someone down, which wasn't ideal, especially for a birthday dinner. As for the food: * Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll (4/5): Fresh, good quality fish, and a generous portion. A solid sushi roll. * Garlic Edamame (4/5): Flavorful and exactly what you'd expect from a good appetizer. * Lobster Duo with Miso Soup, Salad, and Fried Rice (3/5): Unfortunately, the lobster was quite chewy and seemed overcooked. The miso soup and fried rice were both enjoyable and helped make up for it. * Unagi Donburi (4/5): My husband's meal came with white rice, miso soup, salad, and fried rice. It was his first time trying eel, and he really enjoyed the soft texture and flavor. He said he'd definitely order it again. Our biggest disappointment was the timing of the food. The Unagi Donburi arrived significantly later than everything else. By the time it came out, we had already eaten most of the appetizers and other dishes and were pretty full. It's unfortunate because it seemed like a dish that would have been much better enjoyed fresh, but we ended up taking most of it home. Overall, the food ranged from good to very good, and being able to reserve through Resy and use our Amex dining benefit definitely helped offset the cost. However, considering the price point, we expected more attentive service and better pacing of the meal.

Nice Beatles tunes, though I must have missed my fave songs-huge song library to choose from I guess. Loved the fried rice, chicken wings, ribs, miso soup, chicken teppanyaki dish. The bacon was very uniquely prepared and tasty. The scrambled eggs with cheese were pretty good. The pancakes were good. I didn't try the French toast or the omelet station. The teppanyaki station, with freshly prepared steak, lacked flavor. I requested some ginger sauce I remember having at a popular teppanyaki grill chain, but the person preparing the steak didn't have any. Our waiter brought us some, but it didn't have a strong enough ginger flavor for me. Our waiter was very good. And, he kept the mimosas flowing!
