    Mix Platter

Good ambiance and atmosphere. Nice decorations. A bit overwhelming but if you have ever gone to a Shinwari place in Pakistan, this would feel home. Service folks albeit new, are very friendly and nice. Overall no complaints. Food however, after being there now three times, is rather average. All three times we ordered platter which comes with a lot of meat but really lacks the taste. Chicken Karahi is ok. Chapli kababs are the best item in the platter. Naan is perfect and authentic. Desserts need work. Thoothi is rather dry. Zarda is okayish. Overall a good addition to the food scene. Nice location and plenty of parking. But I am struggling to give anything above three stars. Keep improving!

So first things first, atmosphere was immaculate. I loved the decorations and the overall vibe of the place. At first I did think the lights outside were a bit too much, but it did give a warm welcome that is uniquely Desi. My feelings regarding the service are a bit mixed. We were a large group going and they were very accommodating. The host in particular was very welcoming and hospitable and cracking jokes with us. However, I felt the service staff was generally confused. It honestly felt that they needed us to explain many things that I would think are second nature. Just as a small example, when our group asked for napkins we legitimately got only 2 napkins. None of the staff was rude or dismissive, so I believe this stuff can be ironed out with some training, but that training is needed. When it came to the food, again generally, mixed feelings. I personally had the Chicken Karahi, Chicken boti, beef chapli kebab, nihari, walnut halwa, and mango lassi. The mango lassi was alright. The chicken overall tasted very rubbery, the Karahi, tasted like pizza sauce, and the Nihari was incredibly oily. I did not have this dish, but I was also told by the people I was with that the lamb had a smell. It still tasted good, but the smell was noteworthy. I would say the best part of the meal was the naan, and that may sound like a back handed compliment but genuinely this is one of the best naans I have ever had the opportunity of eating. Overall, it's not a bad place to spend an evening, and I am looking forward to how this restaurant pans out in the future. However, I don't think this is going to be go-to for Pakistani cuisines for me.

Food was delivered quickly within 10 minutes of ordering, but was mid for the expensive price point. Perhaps all the decoration and renovation they did caused the food to be priced so high despite the average taste. I ordered the chapli kebab, charasi chicken karahi, and lamb pulao with a mint lemonade. First off, they charge for water which personally I dock a star for. Especially at a pakistani restaurant where food is often spicy, charging for water is a cheap shot. The karahi was large in portion but lacking in developed flavors, I could tell that instead of using fresh tomatoes or crushed they opted for tomato paste. The acidic flavor of the tomato paste made the flavor of the karahi not pleasant. Also the lamb in the pulao was not seasoned with anything and we had 2 raisins in the entire dish unlike the pictures which are more plentiful than in reality. The mint lemonade was odd, they added chaat masala to the drink and it was an unexpected flavor. Finally, card machine would not accept any of my chase cards so ended up charging a discover. While the decor is extraordinary, prices were way too high for the flavor of the food and I will not be coming back.

    | Deeply Disappointed -- What Happened to Baithakh?…read more Baithakh used to be one of our favorite go-to spots in North Brunswick. We've always enjoyed the food, but unfortunately, something has definitely changed since our last visit -- and not for the better. We ordered several dishes, including the Baithakh Seekh Kebab Roll, Crispy Fried Chicken Burger, Beef Paya, Beef Nihari, Peshawari Mutton Karahi, and Chicken Malai Boti. To our surprise, nearly everything was a letdown. The Beef Paya and Peshawari Mutton Karahi were both swimming in oil and severely lacked flavor, which was shocking considering how good they used to be. The Fried Chicken Burger had decent seasoning, but the chicken itself was tough and rubbery -- almost inedible. The Chicken Malai Boti was okay, but even that wasn't as tender or flavorful as we've had here before. Maybe they've changed chefs or recipes, but the quality just isn't the same anymore. Baithakh had never failed us before, but this visit was a major disappointment. Sadly, we're giving it a 2 out of 5 stars. We hope they find their way back to the standard that once made them great.

Its a super cute family spot. We asked our waiter for recommendations and let me tell you, I give him 5 stars! We had the fried fish to start and shared the goat something or other, butter chicken, Roti and Naan. I can't tell you how many time my eyes rolled in pure enjoyment. I was so so sad when I got full because it was all soooooo good. The spices were so fresh and perfect. I could feel my pores opening but didnt feel like I was on fire. I ordered take out for my husband to try and so I can have more tomorrow because I know I'll be thinking of this meal non stop. I cant wait to return to try more amazing dishes!

However, over our last three visits, we've noticed several concerns: The taste of the food has changed, and some dishes were not properly cooked. The karahi gosht is no longer prepared the way it used to be, and the portion size has also been reduced. The seating arrangement feels too cramped for the space, making it difficult to move around comfortably. When concerns are raised, the standard response is simply, "we will let them know," without any visible follow-up. We genuinely enjoy dining here and would like to continue visiting. However, the inconsistency in food quality, along with pricing and portion concerns, has been disappointing and is making us reconsider. I would greatly appreciate it if the owner could give attention to these issues, particularly ensuring consistency in food quality and taste.

I ordered the Gulberg Special Chicken Karahi, some naan, and a Beef Bihari Roll. The biggest disappointment was the karahi. It didn't really taste like a traditional karahi and felt more like a chicken salan served in a karahi dish. I've had this exact item here before, and it was fantastic, so I know the kitchen is capable of much better. The Beef Bihari Roll, on the other hand, was delicious. My only suggestion would be to improve the presentation a bit. Adding some fries or a side would make the plate feel more complete and visually appealing. When we mentioned the karahi to our server, he handled it very professionally. He immediately offered to have a fresh one made, which was appreciated. By that point, the kids were getting restless, so we decided not to wait. He was also kind enough to adjust our bill, which was a very nice gesture and showed great customer service. Overall, while the karahi missed the mark this time, the staff made up for it with their attentiveness and willingness to make things right. Everyone has an off night, especially with two big events going on. I'd definitely come back and give it another shot.

Pluses: Very clean; Staff is professional; spacious and during Covid time nice outside seating. I also felt the staff was considerate in making sure you get seated. For a family event this would be a great place to have lunch or dinner. Menu is pretty elaborate as well. Deltas: The food though true in texture, does not have the right amount of spice. I felt the food was cooked well, presented well but spice level was low. 1/2 point extra for the poster of a Hydrant in the men's bathroom. Classic
