Tucked down a one way street directly across from the river, this building feels like a piece of Kingston history. Great meal, cocktails and an extensive wine selection. There is a dish on the menu for everyone. Any of the pasta dishes can be made gluten free which is a plus if that's what you need. Appetizer and entrees were delicious. We live in central Connecticut and enjoy talking a day trip to the southern Hudson Valley. We love this quaint area of NY . We were looking for a regular lunch menu on a Sunday and having a hard time finding it further south before 2 pm . We had to drive a little further north to another area we liked . The quaint area of Kingston . The first time we tried this place a few years ago we always come back. The food is always delicious and the lunch portions are perfect because we are light eaters at lunchtime. My spicy margarita was awesome, they infuse the tequila themselves. This place is really nice but our experience was very blah. We ordered drinks which were really good. The calamari or in their business "fried squid" was straight up disappointing. Overcooked and had a rubber like feel. The breading was not seasoned at all. Whatever that yellow sauce was, felt as if I was adding paint thinner to my calamari. The steak and Cobb salad were delicious. I definitely recommend them. As for the desert we got, it was a passion fruit mango cheesecake. It was microwaved as it had cold and hot spots in the cheesecake. Also not sure why you'd microwave cheesecake. There seemed to be frequent patrons at the bar that were just loud and obnoxious. One friend was telling the drunk man to calm down but it seemed like it was friends with the waitress/bartender. Wouldn't come back here. Kingston by the waterfront is a picturesque hamlet and you really can't go wrong with any of the establishments within that five block commercial area but ShipTo Shore is special. Their food should be Michelin rated. It's always a great experience and the ambience is spectacular. It feels warm but upscale in the services never been anything else but stellar. Their bar can't be touched by anybody else in the area. This is by far my favorite place. If you had a choice of only one restaurant to have to eat every day and never tire , this is the place! read more

The steak Frites was cooked well, and the chicken Parm on the kid's menu was enormous. Great spot down by the river. We sat outside to take in the waterfront view. Had the mussels in beer broth (it was a special I think) for an appetizer with some bread for dipping into the broth. It was really good. For the main course I had the NY strip with the shrimp and asparagus. Steak was cooked perfect medium rare and seasoned deliciously with garlic butter and a spice blend that worked well. Shrimp were nice and not over cooked and covered in the same buttery garlic spice blend on the steak. The meal was fire. I had one of the better Arnold Palmers I've ever had here too. This is a solid restaurant with solid service. This isn't on a Upstate scale either. This is solid if it was in NYC or one of its surrounding suburbs. My only recommendation is to sit outside. One of my all time faves for dinner. Have been dining here for over 15 years and have yet to be disappointed. The food is always consistent, when ordering steak or salmon, for example, if you ask it to be medium rare, I've always had it cooked perfectly. Love the garlic mashed, and the coconut shrimp app is great. Not sure if it was a special but also had one of the best butternut squash ravioli dishes ever, but don't see it on the online menu anymore. If it was removed, please reconsider. Service is excellent, always attentive but not overly. Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area, personally higher than I would like but not nearly as bad as so many that believe NYC prices are ok, despite many of us locals not having NYC incomes. The gentleman was very friendly I was trying to decide between the ship to shore burger and the ship to shore cheese steak He suggested try the cheesesteak but the burger was very good to It came out and looked very delicious.
