    The moa

Pretty good sandwich spot in Koloa. We were in the area after doing a humid and exhausting hike and thought a sandwich would be good. It's in a neat shopping center with tons of other stores and restaurants, which is convenient. Lots of parking as well. It was not very busy on a Tuesday morning. I got the Moa, which was delicious. I like blue cheese and onions together and this sandwich had both! I was also eyeballing the caprese but wanted something with some protein. Takes about 10-15 minutes for the order to be ready but there are plenty of places to shop or sit and wait.

We chose to try Shipwreck because of the convenience of location. The reviews were mixed, so we figured we'd see for ourselves. Unfortunately we can't say much to combat the negative reviews. I called them at 10:15am to see if we could pre order, no answer- so we drove down there. I understand that rent is high around here, but these were weak sandwiches for the price. There's so much potential there with some of their menu items, and they use Boar's Head meats, plus great location. The service at the counter was almost comical, the communication between the 2, then 3, people working wasn't great. The flavors were not there, the menu is small, and skimping on protein is the first thing customers notice. I'd like to add that while I waited 25 min for 2 sandwiches, and 1 kids PB&J- I saw that the sandwich bread was in a bag on the ground, literally next to a pair of shoes. Yum! We won't return.

Shipwreck is a solid lunch spot in Koloa. My husband had the Going Full Ham sandwich (Ham, Gruyere Cheese, Pickled Onion, Shredded Romaine with Pineapple Relish on Toasted French Bread) and really enjoyed it! I had a taste, and it was totally not my vibe, but that's ok! I had the Greek salad (Mixed Greens Tossed with Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Green Peppers, Kalamata Olives, Red Onions, Feta Cheese and Red Wine Vinaigrette). It was pretty good, but nothing special. It was nice to have some fresh veggies during our vacation foods of mostly fish and fruit :) Once our order was placed, it took about 25 minutes to come out. There were only a few people who came in after us, so I'm not sure if they had a lot of online orders or what. Once we ordered, they directed us to sit and wait at the picnic table outside. I would love to return and try one of the sandwiches!

Great sandwiches! The girl taking our order was very friendly. The sandwiches are around $17 each, but they're pretty big you can share or save 1/2 for later which we did. We got The Beast and The First Class Upgrade which were both very flavorful. The store was cute inside and you can't beat that location. There's a picnic table right outside the store to sit and eat. Overall, would recommend!

I found the Shipwreck online when searching for a local sandwich shop. I was surprised to see that there were no reviews on Yelp. $17 for a sandwich is steep, however we love Boar's Head deli meat so we decided to give it a try. I ordered The Bird - turkey sandwich. It was delicious but has about 1/2 of the meat as pictured in their website. The bread was toasted and mine was a little hard. I loved the cranberry cream cheese it was tangy and contrasted the dry bread. My husband ordered The Moa - Buffalo chicken and he loved it. He bread wasn't as hard as mine. He said he would order it again with light arugula. The Local Style Potato Mac Salad was delicious too. With drinks, and a bag of chips our lunch was a little over $50. The sandwiches are large sized and we could have split them with our side items. Service: The gal at the register didn't speak to us. It was a little odd. We weren't greeted, and I asked if I could place an order. There was one person that had ordered before us. She got her sandwich about 10 minutes before we did. The wait felt a little long. Seating: No inside seating. There one blue picnic table that we shared with another couple outside of the shop. We hung out with a rooster and lots of birds while we ate. It was entertaining.

Selection of sandwiches and desserts are right on point. Kid friendly menu at the perfect price point that won't break the bank while allowing the adults to enjoy the amazing creation of sandwiches available. I would highly recommend this stop for locals and visitors alike. Go hit them up!

Good and filling sandwiches! These are freshly made and full of flavor. Large enough to share with someone.

(Tookout 04/28/26 TU @ 2:30pm): it appeared every slice was the right choice!…read more I met up with a friend for the day, and she insisted on taking me to The Right Slice! In town for the day simply to show me an investment property my family and I might be interested in the very near future, before she departed she had to pick up an order of pies to bring back to her family. Of course, I came along for the ride because I liked pie, but I was curious how good they were if she was willing to fly several of them in her carry-on. Founded by Sandy in October 2009, she quickly adjusted her business model from doing six community events a week to her first retail location in Lihue in 2011. The business continued to grow that led to a second location this time in Kalaheo in 2014. Fast-forward to today, the Kalaheo store is the only one standing, and she has cultivated a strong following both near and far of pie fans and the continued support of the local community. Did I choose the right slice for my first time here!? PURCHASE(S) Mango Lilikoi Pie Slice ($8.50): Their most popular pie, they had me at mango! Filled with plump juicy mangoes combined with the just right amount of lilikoi (passionfruit) and topped with a sugar crust. Juicy sweetness burst in every bite, and I was in pure heaven! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=-IUMWv6HB5wpv9AiQ-Y_bg Macadamia Nut Pie Slice ($8.50): This time, they had me at macadamia! Made with a ton of island macadamia nuts, roasted to a perfect golden brown combined with butter, eggs, sugar, and fresh spices for a nutty tropical sensation, this pie reminded me of a pecan pie but so much better! It was heavy, thick, and required a cold glass of milk to perfectly pair it with. I went nuts for this pie! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=JfthjT1sMLgeXqbfMPGzhA To-Go Containers ($0.50 x2): For my dessert, I've never been charged this before, but I understood businesses needed to cut/pass along costs as much as possible - c'est la vie. Credit Card Surcharge 3.00% ($0.57): Another pass-along fee that has become more prevalent - oh well. SERVICE I was warmly greeted by a young woman behind the counter who gave me time to review the menu while she offered recommendations. Once I ordered, my items were quickly packed and ready to go - mahalo! PARKING (FREE): We were lucky to grab one of the five small spots in front of their shop (it was very difficult to back out due to the heavily-trafficked thoroughfare). Otherwise, I wasn't sure where else you could park nearby - be prepared. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A country shop-like and ice-cream parlor feel with a couple of wooden tables, pie display https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=5gAkOcUYZ1pbgpC8UZq5xg cases, a pie menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=vSyaGOufl1cmq9OBOppvPw hung from the ceiling behind the counter, counters and shelves with merchandise, and an open entry way that welcomed you https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=jSiOeD6ISWVAot4Qkz2e1A in for a treat. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large front doors and windows while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs, while pop music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=53zRcRMKuNaS23ufwnBORw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL The Right Slice offered magical pies both savory and sweet (I must return to try a savory one!) all made from scratch and with a ton of love. The care and pride was tasted in each incredible bite, and I wished I had one to bring back with me after I ate each slice back at the resort. Everything tasted phenomenal, the prices may've been a tad high (but well worth it!), and the service was calming and straightforward. Plus, I always loved to try and support small local mom & pop businesses. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $19.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

The hot pot pie comes in meat with over 10+ varieties, inluding vegetarian and Gluten Free. We stopped by on a Tuesday around 8:30AM and got our pick of malasadas to try out! Kauai Bakery is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of ample parking, making it very easy to stop by and grab some delicious pastries. Service is like your typical bakery, you pick what you would like and they get it to you so you can stuff your face immediately after purchase. Ambiance is cozy with plenty of pastries to pick from in the large display case. We got 4 flavors of Malasadas for $16, which is $4 per doughnut, which I think is a decent price for the size and heft. The flavors we sampled were Lilikoi, Coconut, and Guava - out of these flavors, the coconut one was my personal favorite! The flavor was exactly what I would want anything coconut cream flavor should taste, creamy texture with a pleasant coconut taste that didn't taste artificial at all. It captured the floral background taste that is missing from a lot of coconut desserts that makes coconut so pleasing to eat! The Lilikoi one was my next favorite, it had a slight tartness and a more subtly pronounced flavor - I think I was looking for something stronger personally. Lastly was the guava one, which actually tasted a bit artificial and didn't have a pronounced flavor at all, which was unfortunate. Despite this critique, I would still glady inhale 2 or 3 of them because the dough was really pillowy and really enjoyable to eat. I think that the pastries here (at least the malasadas) are very solid and priced competitively vs most things here on Kauai. I would totally come back to get several more of the malasadas as well as try the other pastry options on the menu. Stop by and give this bakery a try if you are in the area!

There were a lot of snacks and baked goods that you could buy to-go. For a physically small food mart, the menu is quite extensive. Unfortunately, they were out of poke and kalua pork which are the main components of the Hawaiian plate so we got the mixed plate A, the lilikoi chiffon cake, and the Loco Moco double patty instead. Aside from that, the service was good. The lady was very sweet and apologetic that they were out of so many items. The mixed plate A was pretty disappointing and would be dragging down the rating to 3 stars if the Loco Moco wasn't the best Loco Moco I've ever had. The rice was so perfectly cooked and fluffy and the gravy had the best consistency. I asked for over-easy eggs that was well seasoned and amazing with the holistic dish. The burger patty was super tender and juicy as well! This hit a homerun and I would not shut up about this dish the entire meal. The lilikoi chiffon cake was definitely a pass. It really wasn't a chiffon cake at all and closer to a pie consistency. It was very tart and the I think the biggest thing was the texture.
