Bento box came with 2 shrimp as the only protein on the plate an equivalent of about 3oz or possibly less which by any standard is a small amount for a meal. They seem to be a 16-20 count shrimp probably closer to 20. The pad thai was prepared nicely however $14 is unjustified for a mediocre quality of noodles and 3 shrimp. This hidden gem is really something else. Located on 2nd ave close to design district but not too close...all I have to say is wow. The restaurant is spacious, elegantly decorated and has an outdoor space which is great for large parties! Drinks were amazing and done rather quickly which is always a plus. We had the Salmon Tataki which was AMAZING, so fresh and presentation was great (wish I wouldn't of ate it before I took a photo!). We also had the crispy rice with spicy tuna and it was made to perfection, so crisp and lean. Towards the end of our meal we ordered the Samurai roll and when you take your first bite you can instantly taste the freshness of the fish, it's cold made my tummy yell of happiness. We also ordered the beef buns which were tender and the spice gave it a kick. Finally we had the Thai donuts which I wish were bigger because they were delicious!!!! I was generally not impressed by this place. There's basically no place to park. We came really early and fortunately was able to park on the side of the road outside the restaurant, after much confusion regarding where we were allowed to park. They have a nice outdoors area, but our table was really wobbly so we decided to move inside and enjoy the AC. Food was mediocre. I got the spicy seafood noodles which were ok-nothing amazing but my friend's ramen noodles were way too salty. Portions are really small too. We were one of the few people in the restaurant and yet service was super slow. For dessert, I had their mochi ice cream, and I definitely prefer cheaper versions I can buy in a box from the grocery store. read more

Loved it! Amazing experience as for service and delicious food. We arrived 10 mins prior their opening with our 3 month old baby girl and they were kind enough to let us come in and take a great table to have the stroller by our side and just in front of the sushi bar and kitchen. We order a variety of Niguiri which were delicious and so fresh. We were looking for true flavor a and basic simple fresh fish and they did not let us down. Delicious! Also tried the crunchy sushi and pork buns for appetizers which were both really nice and shared a roasted pork ramen which was luscious and he amazing depth of flavor. To finish we ordered the Banana Turon, and let me tell you as a sweet tooth and ex baker, this was one of THE best desserts I've had in an Asian restaurant ever! The balance of the ingredients was spot on, even the temperature on with it was served. It was for sure a sweet end to our first great dinner in this place. Bravo! I parked in their lot which was a 3 car lot. Weird. Pulled all the way in and had to back out of a super narrow exit which is also the entrance. I was lucky there weren't any incidents . My friend ordered a leeche drink that tasted like juice. Horrible. Returned it for wine. Sushi was ok wouldn't get it again. Friend had orange chicken,she like it but it was overpriced . When the check came we didn't have an option to leave a tip under 20% . For mediocre service we shouldn't have to chose bw 20, 25, 30.... % tip. Bad overall experience. My best friend and I visited South Beach for my birthday the last week of February (2021). Shokudo was the best dining experience of our entire trip. The food, staff, and ambience were supreme. The restaurant was busy when we first walked in, but they were hustling to keep us happy. Please make a reservation. We did not, but we were lucky enough to snag seats at the sushi bar. Every dish (pictured below) we had was great. We also had the plum wine, which was super sweet and to our liking. We started with the crispy tuna and bao dishes. The Shokudo roll followed. For dessert we had the banana tempura. The banana tempura was good, but it's the only dish that I wouldn't order again. Maybe the vanilla ice cream was too simple in comparison to the components of the other dishes? Next time I visit Miami I will make sure to stop by Shokudo. read more

Our first time here. Just ordered the Poke & Avocado salad, New York Spicy Tuna, and the Samurai roll. The salad was phenomenal, fresh red tuna atop a bed of greens in a sesame dressing. Tuna was fresh, thickly cut into cubes and a generous portion. We shared this salad, along w the two rolls, so it was sufficient. I would say the full order of the salad is good for one. The rolls were cut into 8 pieces, great portion of fish in both, and not too much rice on the roll, which unfortunately, some spots do to make the rolls look thicker. Folks, this a great place, one of the top. This daughter of Tony, from Tony's Sushi on Miami Beach, opened this location. Eel sauce was excellent- not too watery, not too thick. Just right. I would consider it safe to say that Shokudo is now one of my go to restaurants. I increased my rating to 5 stars due to consistency and freshness of the food. They always hit the mark, and I order here at least three times a month. I only once had an issue with my sushi and they replaced my entire plate and gave me some sashimi as an apology. I have always had the freshest of fish too. Which I do appreciate and am willing to spend the extra little bit of money for. Definitely worth coming here! First visit. Food was great and the place is very cute. We got a table outside in the back. we started of with the pork dumplings and the yuba roll for the entree. I think the food was great just took WAY TOO LONG! We were a party of 4 and everyone got there appetizers at a different time. Drinks where empty and ice was melted before server would come by.. we sat at 9:45 and just left at 11:30. We wanted to get dessert but feared another 30 minute wait just for that. If you have the time to spare enjoy the food, it was great. But my suggestion. Add more servers. read more

I can't comment on the quality of the food because they would not honor our reservation after we waited for 45 MINUTES after our reservation time. They didn't seem to grasp how unacceptable this was - they simply shrugged and said "people are taking longer to eat than we thought." Ur has been one of my favorites restaurants.. through the years the quality of the food and service has gone down...but I would still go back for my favorite halo halo.. went for dinner yesterday, the food was ok at best.. the octopus lacked flavor.. and to my disappointment they now serve the halo halo with strawberry -not ube ice cream... Horrible experience, just went there for my husband's birthday paid $7 for parking. Server treat my partner super rude said that sitting outside was inconvenient for the present of mosquitos.... but whatever we wanted was ok "with an attitude" cause he was serving inside and didn't abt to go all the way to the patio. My partner didn't like how he was treated and we left wasting paid parking and never taste the food. The food was incredible. Yet, it was extremely warm. The restaurant was as if the air conditioning was broken. It was super uncomfortable.

The only reason I am rating this amazing place with four stars is simply due to one server (tall European gentleman) that wasn't very pleasant. We have been there three times and all of those times this server has been unpleasant and not accommodating and condescending. However, I would give this place a try as the food is delicious. Let me just start by saying that I really wanted to like this place. I was excited after looking through all the pictures and was disappointed at what I experienced instead. 1) Ambiance: The outside seating was beautiful. I loved it. Out waiter spent more time inside complaining to the bartender. He took forever to come help us..yes we asked a little extra time to look over the menu but he didn't come back or even look at us for the next 40 minutes. When he returned and I said i was ready to order he replied in a very sarcastic way saying "ohhhhh, NOW you are ready? Okay!" It was Valentines Day and my boyfriend tried to plan it nicely. Otherwise I wouldve told the guy with the short greasy slick back hair to piss off and left. **side note: there is a skater looking guy with long hair down to his chin that noticed us and helped us out because he was actually focused on the customers...thanks skater guy ** 3) Food: we tried the ramen and beef bibenbop. The ramen was bland and was more broth than anything else. Not worth the $18 at all. If you want great ramen for the same price, go to Ichimi in coral gables. The Bibinbop was worse. It looks great but they give you about 2oz of charred meat and almost no mushrooms/veggies. Essentially, its a big bland $18 bowl of rice. I mainly spend my money on food..that's the truth but when it isn't worth it, I get upset. I will never return. read more

So I ordered on the phone and was told that it would take 25-30 minutes. Instead of taking my car I said I will call uber to take me and then back. When I reached I was told that the order was not in because somehow the person who took the order is located somewhere else and sends the orders by text (who is dumb enough to have system that relies on someone outside the establishment). Anyhow the food expeditor instead of just putting in the order tried to fucking talk me down and waited for me to tell him to move his ass to put the order. Then another guy instead of getting on doing my order he comes to tell me to put my fase mask and stay outside. Then when I went out to brood the other idiot just came out to talk to me and I had to inform him about just leaving me alone and get my order done. In the end they offered to give me 20% discount which pales in comparison to my Uber bill. The food is okay and I really will never come or recommend it because if they are disconnected with reality that there is many options, THERE IW MQNY OPTIONS AND OWNERS SHOULD AT LEAST STAY AT THEIR PLACE!!! Also if someone would have come and said I am so and so manager, but god forbid they identify themselves to the client!!! No words to describe the food and the service in this place. I found it on yelp although i passed a lot of time in front of it but never stopped. We had a grilled octopus and jalapeño popper for appetizers... i cant describe how GOOD the octopus was... and come with a sweet potato puré... to die for. Then we have a stake with curry rice... the flavors on that plate were so rich!!!! And meat was perfectly cooked. Did i mention the octopus was incredible? Ok. Then we had shokudo roll. Most try this roll. On the desserts i was not too impressed by the cardamom chocolate torte, but the cobbler was amazing. I cant believe its been open for do long I haven't been there earlier. So now back in Miami, this place is BEAUTIFUL, very modern, great lines, great feel. The service was excellent, I read Bennett R's review and who ever he had as a waiter, was non-existent at this time. We had a great waitress she was a lot of fun, she told us to get the salted egg, and she was right, it was great.
