I've been eyeing shootz for awhile now but never had the chance to go to it because the other location is kinda far. I was so excited to see that they had a location in Ontario! I recommend the kimchi butter katsu plate, the coconut shrimp musubi and the mango tea lemonade! Everything was so good and flavorful. I didn't even need any sauce, and I eat EVERYTHING with sauce. Oh the spam fried rice was soooo delicious. Best one I have ever had. They had chunks of spam and chopped up fried egg. There is something that in the fried rice that makes it super good. This is a side dish so the portion is slightly smaller. I would suggest if the fried rice will be your main dish....order 2 servings. Spam Brûlée Musubi-yummmmmm! Definitely get this! Imagine a regular spam musubi amplified with this special sauce and a little sugar creme brûlée style. I have never had spam musubi like this before and it was sooo good. While ordering I was a little hesitant thinking sweet and savory all together?! But it absolutely worked. My only grip....we ordered 2 orders of the spam fried rice and it was put into the same box. It made kind of hard since one of these orders I was dropping off for a friend. Ordered Loco Moco to go at Shootz this weekend. I am dairy-free, so I opted for no macaroni salad, and they gave me extra rice instead. A nice gesture, however it was too much rice and the hamburger was lost in all the rice. Next time, I will ask for the normal serving of rice and no mac. Overall, it was okay for $13. Another 5/5 eatery within Ontario Ranch's Rodeo X. Shootz is right next door to the Ramen place (which I love) and next to the Ramen place is Fika Fika ice cream (which I love too). Hubby and I came here on Sunday 5/22/22. Ok so I came alone earlier in the week but don't tell him haha!!! We had family raving about this place so I just had to check it out myself. My first visit I had the hot kimchi butter fried chicken sandwich which comes with a side of macaroni salad. I was a bit skeptical because I'm not really fond of kimchi but flavors of this chicken were so on point. Crunchy, moist, with a bit of heat is how I can best describe this sandwich served on the softest roll. Mac salad was good too - a tad bit heavy on the mayo but overall satisfying. Note- this sandwich a bit on the smaller side so if you are super hangry perhaps consider one of the combos. Hubby and I came today, on a Sunday afternoon. He got the Loco Moco combo while I got the kimchi butter fried chicken combo. For $5 more you can get musubi and a drink so we each did this and split the musubi. Hubby said this was one of the best Loco Mocos he has had outside of the islands. The patty was portioned well, juicy, flavorful and served on a bed of rice with gravy and a sunny side up egg. You also get a side of Mac salad which has hints of tuna in it. He loved it all and finished his meal. I think the highlight for me had to be the musubi. The shrimp musubi had a rich coconut sauce on it with a piece of fried shrimp. The spam musubi had a sweet almost thousand island type sauce on it and it was just as good. Unfortunately the rice to protein ratio is like 3:1 but with flavors this good I would hands down order both again! I had never been here before. Cashier offered us a sample of the chicken. It was so delicious we ordered the Chicken combo that also comes with delicious shrimp and white rice and macaroni salad. It came with a scoop of macaroni salad, a side of spam brûlée musubi in a heavy creamy sauce. The sauce was kinda overpowering but it was good. The kimchi butter katsu chicken was moist and crispy, lathered in a butter sauce. The rice that came with it was bathed in the sauce too, very heavy and rich but it was good. The staff is nice, and the wait time was not long. They gave me a beeper to let me know once the order is ready. Shootz is located in Rodeo X, a small new food hall in Ontario. Parking in their spacious lot was nice and easy. I have tried Shootz once before at the Stanton location, and was excited to go to the Ontario location's official grand opening today. They advertised a giveaway to celebrate the occasion: the first 25 guests were offered a free Shootz hat, Hot Kimchi Butter Chicken Katsu Sandwich, and refresher. The following 125 guests received just the free sandwich. Of course, I lined up early to be in the first 25, along with two others. We arrived over an hour early and were among the first in line. The doors opened promptly at 11am, and I put my order in just a few minutes later. There were 3 refreshers to choose from and I opted for the Sunset OJ. In addition to my freebies, I ordered two of the Honey Coconut Shrimp Musubi ($7). The food was ready just a couple minutes later. I tried my Sunset OJ refresher first, which truly was refreshing, and I think I tasted some fruit bits mixed into it too! Then, I bit into the Hot Kimchi Butter Chicken Katsu Sandwich. The thick cut of chicken was fried well, and I enjoyed the macaroni salad on top even though it was a little messy. Unfortunately the sauce wasn't that noteworthy, sweet but not spicy. My group and I agreed that the sandwich was good, but the overall size was a bit small in comparison to other chicken sandwiches we've had. Next were the Honey Coconut Shrimp Musubi. The musubi were each cut in half for a total of four pieces. The honey coconut sauce poured on top was a bit excessive, but the musubi still tasted great. It's important to eat them right away to enjoy the crisp tempura batter on the shrimp, before the sauce makes it soggy. Lastly, I tried some of my partner's Spam Fried Rice ($8.49) which included rice and little bits of spam topped with green onion. The dish was average, but the rice was unfortunately overcooked and mushy. Staff were extra friendly at their stand there, so I was hoping those vibes would transfer over to their new store in Ontario. I can't give an accurate wait time for food since it my order was also dependent on the driver, but it seems like they do take a while to prepare food. My food was was still warm and fresh when it arrived though, so I am confident the food is made to order. I got their spam brûlée musubi and their hot kimchi fried chicken sandwich but I asked for the Mac salad on the side. Loved the flavors of the brûlée with the musubi--wish there was more in one order! The chicken sandwich didn't quite dazzle me but was a good eat. Maybe having the mac salad within the sandwich (as normally is) might've complimented the flavors of the chicken better. There was a slight sweetness to the chicken which I wasn't too keen on, but still enjoyable. Definitely worth a try if you're a hot chicken enthusiast! Stopped by RodeoX for the first time recently and stumbled upon Shootz. I was thrilled to find them as I had been craving some good Hawaiian food. Upon my visit it was apparent they were probably a newer addition to RodeoX as the signage for their business and menu were still being clearly established. They did have a few photos of items they were serving for the evening close to the register. The girl working the register and taking orders did a nice job of patiently answering questions and efficiently moving customers through the line. I came around dinner time on a weekday and Shootz had the longest line of customers during my time there. Though it seemed like the kitchen was getting a little backed up with orders and some kinks may still need to be ironed out with how customers retrieve their food once it's prepared, the service overall and food were undeniably great. When it came to my time to order, it was hard to pinpoint what I wanted since everything looked and sounded tasty. I ultimately decided on the two musubis: Honey Coconut Shrimp Musubi and Spam Brulee Musubi. Both were fantastic and memorable. They each tasted exactly to their name. The Honey Coconut Shrimp Musubi had some tempura shrimp as the main protein drizzled with a sweet honey-coconut tasting sauce. The Spam Brulee Musubi was a well-executed spam musubi but with legit chunks of bruleed pieces to add some crunch. When paired with the spicy mayo drizzled on top, it was heaven. Delicious and each musubi was very well put together. I would order both again without a doubt. Shootz in RodeoX shows much promise for success and is a perfect addition to the area. Been wanting to come here for a little while now but I've lagged it haha. Well I made it today and I'm glad I stopped laggin. I got the spicy kimchi honey butter katsu fried chicken sandwich and the shrimp musubi, the musubi was really good and whatever sauce was on top of it just completely set it off and took it to the next level! The chicken sandwich was just as fire! I would've liked more spice but it was still amazing, the macaroni salad on it was kinda bland but it added this rich creaminess that also took it to the next level a long with that buttery toasted brioche bun. All around it was a great little meal. Oh and they have specialty lemonades and limeades. I got the peach mint limeade, really good and super refreshing! I'd say they're on the pricier side, but food was filling nonetheless. I was craving a Spam musubi, so I opted for the Spam Brulee because it sounded interesting and it definitely was. I am on a mission to try most Inland Empire's chicken sandwiches and this time it was Hawaiian style. I got the shrimp musubi and the non spicy chicken sandwich. The musubi was great, I wish it had more protein but overall tasted well. The chicken sandwich was also one of the best I've had so far. The batter was not overly sweet and had soft texture. I got the half chicken half shrimp order. Customer service was super friendly. The guy at the cashier counter who was taking my order was very smiley and so kind. I gave it three stars because the food itself came out lukewarm instead of hot. Also, after I was finished eating my plate was full of leftover grease. I won't be coming back because I feel like the chicken and shrimp itself could be more flavorful and hot to order. The macaroni salad was fantastic and the rice was fresh. The shrimp was good but again the katsu chicken was too greasy for me. For $18, I don't think the quality of the food was worth it. Service was fast and friendly though. read more
