We absolutely love their other restaurant Mole! This was our second time at Shorebird and everyone really enjoyed their food! The service was excellent! Not just Kiko our waiter but the bar manager came out and checked on us and introduced himself, the gentleman who filled our water was so nice and attentive and so was another guy who helped clear the table and asked if we needed anything! They brought my mom out a sorbet with a candle for her birthday and overall she was so happy with the ambiance, her choice of dishes and the whole experience! read more

Left a bad taste! The food was excellent, the ambience was nice, the service was efficient, it was the bill that brought the ratings down. We knew this was an expensive restaurant and have paid even higher prices, so that wasn't the real issue. What was offensive was how we felt taken advantage of. When ordering a Cesar salad and asked to add salmon as a protein we expected an additional charge. What they did was charge for the more expensive salmon entree without making us aware. The food has gotten a lot better since Shorebird Palm Desert's early days. We find it consistently very good to excellent. If there's any criticism at all, they could make the namesake chicken a bit more moist, but it's still very good. The service is excellent. The time to be served is average. The place has a very nice layout and appearance. Unfortunately part of the outside view is of highway 74, but it depends on where you're sitting. I haven't found it too noisy. Don't expect the feel of their Newport location, but enjoy this very nice location. Good parking in back, enter from ocotillo drive. read more

I wanted so badly to give this place an overall good review, but I can only do that for the service. Service was great. 10/10. Vibe and ambiance - 5/10. Food - 5/10. Ordered a sushi roll - bland. Tuna egg rolls - eh. Wedge salad with chicken - little to no dressing served with no tomatoes. Scallops - flavorless and slightly under cooked. Nothing was bad, but nothing was good. Everything was underwhelming and for $200, I would expect a much better meal. My advice: take your money and appetite across the way to Porta Via. Went to Sunday brunch and the service was perfect! Our server Harold was polite, very attentive and surprised my wife with a birthday treat! Food was great, I tried the fried Chicken sandwich which was very good. The egg burrito was also exceptional and all our meals were good portions. Very disappointed. Place is cool looking and the menu is great. First thing from our server was that they are out of tortillas. According to the menu they are homemade so not sure why they are out. Both my guest and I had the Cobb salad with turkey. Strangely it was cubed turkey lunch meat, I expected better. I had a Diet Coke with lunch. Server brought a 16 oz bottle of warm coke plus glass with ice. The ice melted before my coke was cold. Very poor service. I cannot believe this is under the same restaurant group as the one in Newport. Brunch service and the food is in pale comparison (i.e., you will get greeted with water 20mins after sitting) versus a modern day Applebees. Avoid and go elsewhere. This fails the Paseo. read more

Got the Nashville fried chicken sandwich and the Cubano. Sides of apple coleslaw and onion rings. Everything was well prepared and very tasty! All of the dishes going by looked really good as well (soufflé pancakes, eggs Benedict's, double stuffed deviled eggs, mmm...!). The portions are fairly large and the service is attentive. We were pleasantly surprised to come here and couldn't believe that our family that we were visiting, has never been ! We had wonderful service from Harold and their brunch menu had so many variable options . There was a little spin on everything we got . Our family of 6 made a reservation a week or two before going to Shorebird on a Saturday evening. There were 4 adults and 2 children. We were seated at the table by the staircase, not a great table, but not bad. The staff greeted us with a friendly tone and took us to the table right away. Our waiter was friendly and promptly brought us water to start. He also gave us some tips on the menu items. We ordered bread, drinks, oysters and a sushi roll. The passion fruit martini was delicious and delivered by a friendly bartender. The appetizers came quickly and were delicious as well. They didn't have a kids menu, but were happy to change the sushi rolls to suit the kids tastes. I ordered the veggie tacos, husband ordered the pork tacos, kids had sushi rolls, mom had the sea bass and dad had the fried chicken sandwich, all were delicious. For dessert we had the carrot cake and brownie with ice cream. They were delicious as well. The restaurant has a great, light and comfortable design. Overall a great experience and we will make this part of our regular restaurants when we're in the area. Ambience, service and food were great! read more

In a fine dining place they serve us water in a terrible looking bottle & that too warm water no ice . It was such a hot day who wants to drink warm water . Finally we ordered our food & i had to keep flashing other servers to get my servers attention . It was also so noisy i felt like i had to shoot so loudly to communicate with my friend across the table . Not fun . Service has really gone down from when i last was there . Disappointing . First, let me say, I rarely (almost never) write reviews but this restaurant deserves every bit of what I'm going to say and review . We will never go back here and I'll be sure to share our experience with our many friends in the desert area. Last night, husband and I went to check out the new Shore Bird in Palm Desert on El Paseo. We were excited to find a new restaurant close to home and wanted to check it out by having a drink and appetizer at the bar...BIG MISTAKE! We arrived close to 6:20 and was greeted by the sweet hostess who asked if we wanted a seat in the restaurant. We told her we were just going to the bar and pointed to the two empty seats we saw at the bar. She said fine but there were a few empty glasses/plates which she wanted to clear at the bar before we sat down. She asked us to wait in lobby area while she cleared the area. She made one trip to the kitchen area with the plates then came back for a second trip. It was then, that the bartender leaned over the bar to say something to her and she stopped what she was doing. She then came up to us to say those seats were taken. Mind you, there was NO ONE in the waiting area and this was not a table for dinner, just the bar seats. The hostess never said the bar required a reservation, so like most restaurants, we assumed the bar is first come, first serve basis and she didn't tell us otherwise when we arrived. My husband asked if we could sit at an open table close to the bar (in bar area) as an alternative and she said they were taken too. Again NO ONE was around or waiting but she said we could not sit there either. Perplexed and frustrated, we left the restaurant. My husband had to make sure we didn't misunderstand anything so after leaving, he quickly went back into the restaurant to confirm with the hostess that the bar was in fact, first come, first serve basis. She did confirm that and he told her he couldn't understand why we weren't able to sit there. She didn't answer or comment. After leaving going to another restaurant and my husband came up with this theory about our VERY RUDE experience. The Happy Hour at Shore Bird goes until 630. If we were sat at the two empty chairs before it ended, the restaurant/bartender would be out the extra revenue/tips if someone was to come in after us and no seats at the bar. It's really the only reason we could figure out It's really unfortunate for Shorebird to be so short sided with our visit. We live part time in the desert and would have gladly visited this restaurant again. After this very unpleasant experience it won't be happening and will take our patronage elsewhere. UPDATE and REPLY to JORDAN in MANAGEMENT... You are absolutely and 100% wrong about the scenario and open seats at the bar. Furthermore, you obviously didn't read and comprehend my post. Upon our arrival, there were TWO seats open and your hostess was actually clearing them so we could be seated. The gentleman sitting next to those seats was a single guest and if he had others that were joining him, clearly HE would have let us and your hostess know when we were going to sit next to him. It was 100% your bartender who told your hostess, the seats were taken. MR. JORDAN....A no excuses apology would have been taken and accepted, instead of your very mistakenly account of what actually happened!!! If you were in fact there last night, why as a manager would you not address us and offer an option for us to stay? read more

The blood orange mezcal drink was very well balanced and something I'm going to try making at home! All of the sushi was delectable as well and the service was what you'd expect from a Fancy steak house, very attentive and full of recommendations. Have been here twice so far and have found it underwhelming. Sadly I've been seated at the same table both times- right next to the staircase- the view into the bar area is pretty disgusting and needs to be cleaned up. First time, for brunch. Had a latte- was pretty good and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes- they were ok. Found the staff to be disjointed and not very attentive. Second Time, 3/13 was seated again at the bad table next to the stairs. I ordered a club soda with lime and when it was brought out it tasted funny and I sent it back. Then the server brought me another and it also tasted odd- I said it's fine I'll just have water- he argued with me- they just opened a fresh bottle. I'm not sure what brand it is but did not taste like club soda at all- could have been tonic. It rubbed me the wrong way that he didn't trust my judgement and felt the need to argue with me. I ended up ordering the Skirt Steak Tacos. They were pretty good, but some of the meat was grizzly. At the price of $42 didn't seem like a fair offering, you could go down the street to Tommy B's and have Filet Mignon Tacos that are 10x better for $23. My friend ordered the Chicken-she wasn't very hungry and was planning eating a little and taking the rest home. She said it was so terrible, she took a few bites and left the rest. Our other friend ordered the Burger and loved it- so maybe that's the way to go. The Sushi menu is also disappointing- every item is made with crab mix. Overall the restaurant is beautiful but the staff is lacking warmth and soul. The restaurants on El Paseo have a warm friendly vibe from the staff and that is missing at Shorebird. My friend has been to the Newport Beach location and said this doesn't even come close. I have plans for another dinner there this week with friends from out of town, so will update my review if there are improvements. Needless to say I'll be having water and the burger. read more

Fantastic addition to the desert. Shorebird complements other restaurants on El Paseo well. Great food selection too - plenty here for every palate. Only place I know where I can get good sushi, a solid burger or chicken sandwich if I don't feel like one of their tasty steaks, and key lime pie to round out the meal (and a lovely martini or two). read more

Nelson was what you hope to encounter when you go to a restaurant. Came in with my mom two days ago and sat at the bar. Not only was the food delicious, we had the scallop app, six oysters and the Caesar with chicken... All fantastic, but the shining star was our experience with our bartender Nelson.
