Visited this place in downtown Carlsbad for another graduation event and it was my first time here. Cute kitchen with indoor and outdoor patio seating. This place was half empty and we sill had to wait a long time before getting seated. In fact I had to ask the indoor staff to call someone to get us a table. Really felt I was invisible as I did make a lot of eye contact with staff but no one came to the front to seat us. Once we got seated the service got a little better. We got menus to browse while water was being served. I ordered the maple fried chicken brioche sandwhich with a side of hashbrosn and it was OK. THe chicken wasn't as crispy but it was a bit soggy. THis was before I added the sunny side up egg to it. My parents ordered the salmon lox bagel which was good and the other dish was parmesan risotto benedict. That dish was interesting as it was very parmesan cheesy and a bit salty. Other parties in my group ordere mango pancakes which tasted really good and fluffy and chileaquiles. Both were good. I can't have any dairy so the extra care our staff member took throughout our time dining there was exceptional. the food is definitely ok, nothing too crazy or too horrible. My potatoes were soaked in oil so I avoided it, but the rest of the food was pretty good. again the staff here was very accommodating and I truly appreciate it. This is our go to spot for breakfast/brunch. Waitlisting on Yelp totally helps so we can get in line and not have to physically wait in line. My picky kids can always find something to eat. They also have the fluffiest kids pancakes that I would order if I was a kid! Came here with my bestie to have brunch. I love this place. A perfect to have brunch and stroll around the streets. Right next to this restaurant has an ice cream shop and a lot of places to get drinks as well. Then if you're lucky you might even get to shop to a small nursery or farmers market along the way. Actual rating 3.5I gave a lot of thought as to whether to round up to 4 or down to 3, but ultimately I wouldn't return and unfortunately I think that's due to the person who cooked my omelette, but I'm not certain. 4 for ambiance--Located in the heart of Carlsbad--plenty of shops around to explore. Plentiful, heated, covered outdoor seating in a nice environment. (You can't see the ocean from here.) Tables are not too close together. There are some tables inside, as well. We arrived around 8:30 on a Friday and were seated right away. 3 for service. Our server, Sally, was very nice, but I think she had too many tables so we didn't see her much. It was fine. Just not above average. 3.5 for food. The grapefruit sage mimosa was 5--just the right champagne to juice ratio with a generous pour. I ordered the wild mushroom and organic spinach omelette. Disclaimer--I don't normally order omelette because I don't think they're adequately flavored or more special than what I can make at home. The insides of the omelette were sautéed and flavorful, though I didn't taste any cheese (I think there was supposed to be goat cheese?), but stingey. The omelette was rubbery and too eggy (my first 3 bites in were all egg), just not well cooked. I actually ended up taking the top off and eating it open-faced. The hash browns were crispy and good. The hubs got the beach bowl, which he really enjoyed (I thought it was fine). As I said, I think it might have been the cook. If the egg portion of the omelette was cooked well and not so thick, and if the insides had been a higher ratio to the egg, I think I may have enjoyed the meal. read more

We ended up visiting this awesome gem of a place for a quick bite during our stay near Carlsbad Village. This place has a lively ambience but mind you it can get really busy ! Took us 45 minutes to get a table on a weekend. We were in a bit of rush and ended up getting the Breakfast Burritos for all of us and boy was it good ! We loved it along with the awesome salsa they gave with it. They serve a variety of Ginger Ales and we loved the one we got (Mango Turmeric). Not worth the price point. The food is fresh but not everything was very flavorful. For $17 a plate, and 4.5 star reviews I would have expected a bit better (At least better service.) Long wait times between when the server would check on us. Never refilled our water, etc. It was nice to sit outside but many sat staring into the sun. I don't think we would go back. I would have to come this place if the prices were closer to $10-15/ plate. read more

Parking: Street parking, there were parking areas everywhere. Just be ready to park further away. However, it's downtown. You can walk and window shopping afterwards. Brick & Mortar: Didn't get to see the inside cause I had my fur baby with me. So we all sat outside. I usually don't like to sit outside, but this place has an outdoor seatings just like inside. Fully covered, beautiful tables and chairs set up, almost all guests have their fur-babies with them. I love the ambiance. Chic classy for sure! Salted Caramel Latte w/ almond milk. Luke warm latte. I asked for hot. Just tasted a sweet latte. Everything just underwhelming taste-wise. I thought well, I want to see how it'll taste if I added the table salt. No improvements. Then I just down it. I just want it to be done with. Food: It took a little while for us to get our food. Hence, they were super busy. I get it. Their food made beautiful photos, though! Prime Steak-Frites Flat iron steak, French fries, béarnaise Steak was cooked perfectly (I asked for Medium). I wish I got a little bigger in size since it was from the lunch menu. Unfortunately the fries were cold and for some reasons, they tangled and when I picked one up, the whole bowl of fries went up with it! They all like glued together? I've never experienced this before. Especially when they're the shoe string kind. Maple Fried Chicken B'fast Sandwich chicken breast, sunnyside up, maple dijon aioli, baby arugula, honey cured bacon, aged white cheddar, brioche bun. Really enjoyed our second visit. I got the Parmesan risotto cake eggs Benedict. Best eggs Benedict I've had in a long time. The tarragon infused Bernaise is wonderful. My only issue is the hash browns had a bit of an odd taste. My husband had a regular egg and bacon breakfast he said was good. He also enjoyed the coffee. We also got a short stack of pancakes that were a little too dense for me. I like mine a bit more airy. All in all a very good visit and we would definitely visit again! read more

YUCK!!!! Waste of money. I have given this place a true chance = dined three different times. Each visit the service is SLOOOOOOW. The menu is CONFUSING = descriptions add way too many things. The flavor palettes are WEIRD and do NOT mesh The restaurant is always DIRTY. I have been seated in the outdoor patio each time and there has been some sort of issue with noise from the adjacent parking lot, uncomfortable sun exposure because they don't roll their sun shades down unless you ask them (meanwhile your arm hairs have singed off), the tables are awkwardly placed so you either sit by a random pole or too close to the next party, so much so you can hear their conversations and hear them chewing. To top it off, their prices are high. Not worth the time or money. read more

Nikko has to be one of the best servers I have ever encountered. He was funny, attentive and so kind. We came here for my birthday breakfast and absolutely loved the food. My friends and I all got something different and that really allowed us to try a little bit of everything on the menu. This is a regular spot for me. I had to visit it one last time before I moved. I love this restaurant. Every single time I've gone. I've ordered the Angus short rib and potato cakes meal. It is always delicious. Service is always fast. I wish I could take this restaurant to Virginia with me. I've probably been there dozens of time at this point. It's in Carlsbad, kind of downtown, right off the beach, and above all next to an AWESOME ice cream place, but that's another review for later. They serve brunch items here, I usually get the angus short rib hashbrowns cakes. This fills you up and really hearty. They also have this maple fried chicken breakfast sandwich that is bomb af. If you're more into the healthier stuff they have ample options, like beach bowls and smoothies too.
