The Sunflower makes me sad. I used to love coming here and thought that eventually they would get their act together. My family flat out refuses to come here because it is so slow. I have no idea how it could take an hour to have eggs and pancakes served... the whole experience is just painful so the food, no matter how much I love it, can't make up for the tremendously slow service. I had hopes that at some point someone from there would see review after review about the lack of service and actually take measures to improve it. Instead of working on a food truck or new recipes first take the time to fix what is broken at your home base... it is a shame because you'd be able to handle more customers and make more money if you could turn your tables over more quickly.. I'd venture to guess you could double your weekend revenue. read more

I have given this cafe several chances, but each time my concerns remain the same. The service is always incredibly aloof and slow. They never have any fruit (literally, on two separate occasions, the server has said "we don't have any fruit."), an oddity for a breakfast place. I've received undercooked pancakes on both visits. Their home fries are far too salty. They only give you corn syrup for pancakes, never maple syrup. The staff are warm and welcoming to regulars, and cold to everyone else. Ignore the reviews that say this is a cute and hip place -- the only reason people think that is because it is in Pottstown, the black hole of dining. I will never go back. read more

Our second time in a month returning to the Sunflower Cafe for breakfast after a recommendation from a friend. Everything from omelets to pancakes to their daily specials has been delicious. Enjoyed the zucchini bread and biscuits. Service is friendly. We had a 10 minute wait both times we were there but that was during the week so I imagine weekends would be a longer wait. The only negative we've encountered is the coffee. Wish they served a more flavorful, robust cup of coffee. FYI... cash only! read more

My sister in law, mother in law, and I stopped here after visiting the Himalayan salt cave next door. It is quite a cozy little cafe. The menu is very fun and although I didn't care for the sandwich I ordered (there was nothing wrong with it, I just didn't care for it personally), I would definitely go back to sample some of their other creations. If I lived in this area it would become my absolute favorite place to eat breakfast. The eclectic decor and the creative yummy food rocks. I had an egg sandwich like no other. I was allowed to switch from scrambled to fried medium and even got to have the zucchini bread I read about. I couldn't eat it as a sandwich, but that was not a problem as it was quite delicious. Very much recommend. We need more places like this in the area. They think outside of the box and come up with some amazing tasty creations. Service lately has improved whereas waits used to be long. I am happy to review this place! We go here almost every time we go out to eat. If we do not go here we always end up saying 'we should have gone to the Sunflower'. They always refill your coffee which is nice. And the waitresses are all friendly. I understand why it sometimes takes a while when you see the size of the kitchen!!! They also use real butter which no other breakfast place around does. Try the big pancake or the Sunflower Omelet. Both are delicious. I love their biscuits too!! read more

I've been to shorty's several times and the food is always good with large portions. My favorite is the flying dutchman. I like the apple butter with the scrapple! I was excited to try the Sunflower Food truck but was very disappointed in the pretzel melt i got. I LOVE pretzel bread and when my sandwich came out, it was on a grilled hamburger bun. The flat part of the bun was on the outside and the round part was on the inside. The cheese on the inside wasn't melted and i peeled a cold piece right off. The sweet potato mustard sauce was pasty and virtually tasteless. The whole point of a pretzel melt, is for it to be on pretzel bread! read more

Service was awful. Was seated at the same time as table next to us. While they ordered and got drinks we waited another 10mins before we finally asked the waitress for menus. Ordered pancakes and again found myself waiting for about 30 minutes.waitress never checked in on us at any time. Found myself wanting to get up and leave multiple times because the service was so abysmal. They did not seem to be overly busy too explain this service. The waitress just seemed more concerned with socializing with other waitresses than taking care of paying customers. the food was good but they ran out of home fries which is the whole reason we came here in the first place. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they want to wait all day and i will never personally come back. read more

Well where to begin....B team must have been working...food too forever to come out and when it did it was all over cooked on one side and barely cooked on the other side.Chocolate chip pancakes were burned on one side and lightly done on the other side.Same with the scrapple.The one thing they are known for is the zucchini bread...burnt on one side,light on the other side.tasted very dry.Why so much paprika on the home fries,never tasted a potato taste at all,should have just served a side of paprika instead of the poatoes.Now i know why they were very slow.Looking at all of the reviews i was quite surprised that the food we received was as bad as it was.Sorry won't be going back here again and taking a chance that the"b" team will be on. read more

We just got done waiting almost 40min at sunflower cafe... After they said it was a 20-30min wait and left to go elsewhere... They are always busy, but they are very slow to clear tables and get people in and out of there... They should have been honest about their wait times so we could decide to go elsewhere. Also, they need a shaded waiting area. They really need to rethink some things. Instead we waited forever in the heat and were no closer to getting seated and then had to go elsewhere anyway. Total shame that this has been our experience the last two times, and we ended up leaving both times. Their food and coffee are awesome if you have the stamina to go through the massive ordeal of lots of time waiting in the heat. read more

The good is always really tasty and good presentation. It can be hard to get the server's attention. You can hear everyone around you. Always plenty of options for people eating there. We were in for lunch today. We didn't wait for a table but waited on the waitress for EVERYTHING else. It seemed like forever til she even came over to see what we wanted to drink. A good 10 minutes we sat and wondered who would be helping us. We ordered water with lemon and she said she'd be right back with that. Not the last time we would feel misled. Five minutes to get water and then placed our order. I mentioned that we were on our lunch break. Got club sandwiches so she said it "shouldn't be long at all". Another misleading statement. Our food finally came and was really good. Asked for salsa for the chips and more napkins. Got the salsa, didn't get the napkins until we were essentially done. The check was the only thing that came in a hurry on this visit! We've been to Sunflower many times, the food is never the problem. Also, usually we have enough time in the hour we get for lunch. Work is only a 5 minute drive away, if that. The service leaves something to be desired. Several of the waitresses really need more training. They don't check on guests enough or respond to requests timely. I know the place has a casual and relaxed vibe but that doesn't excuse bad service. We will most likely visit again but I think a break from Sunflower is in order for a little while. You go out to relax during lunch breaks, but when you're constantly looking for and waiting on your waitress, it's anything but relaxing. read more
