Found myself in Ranch Mirage and a bit hangry. I have heard of Si Bon so dropped in knowing nothing of the menu.. Wow, for me a nice find. YELP SHORT ANSWER: Yes for sure. My visit was lunch at the bar and no drinks but the food and service was amazing. LOCATION: Excellent location, lots of parking. FACILITY: Very nice indoors, large and fancier but casual. The bars was very nice. MENU: Really impressive and unique for CV. FOOD PREP: Professional to say the least, wish I could get an invite to this kitchen, I be there. FOOD QUALITY: Seldom do I use the word "perfect" to describe food taste. Ordered a Crepe filled with chicken and Mushroom $19. Not an overly complicated assembly of food items but it was served to perfection! I have some work to do to replicate this dish at home. LIBATIONS: Just hate, it was great, however the lady a few seats away sucked down three martinis while I as there, hope she had an Uber. WAITSTAFF: Bartender was so much fun, my kind of quiet humor. This is what one of my fave restaurants in Desert. Tonight I started with wedge salad which is priced according to desert pricing. I then had the sandabs for my entree, which were excellent. Just a bit of a crust but perfectly cooked in the inside. We then shared the chocolate mousse. They've presented it differently as I recall, but it was delicious. It's a little French bistro and the bar was basically full by 4:15pm We ordered: - mussels au gratin ($14) - our favorite! - veal ossobuco ($18) - decent but small - chicken pot pie ($16) - wasn't a fan Overall the food was pretty good, but the portion sizes were small. If you were making this a full meal, you'd have to order 4-5 dishes to share between 2 people. We ended up eating elsewhere afterwards. I see why the place is packed and reservations are a must. The food is good, portions are big, and prices are decent. Our party of 4 shared everything and it was delicious. Highlights were the lobster chop salad (generous chunks of lobster), mango custard waffles (not overly sweet) and the Mexican crepe (you can smell the truffle oil and the crepe had a nice thickness to it). We ended with a macadamia tart a la mode--delish! Our server was very attentive and it's amazing to see how well she managed so many tables. Although restaurant was busy, she did not rush us. What a cute cafe in Palm Desert! It is 101 degree out, and we decided to have lunch in their beautiful patio. It was amazing. They have the mister going out in the patio, as we walk into the patio, the temperature must drop 20 degrees. It was cool and comfortable! We ordered a Belgian French Toast and a Mango Stuffed Belgium Waffle. Both were excellent, and the prices were very reasonable! Their service was very good as well. I've been here five times over the last year and I'm going to make this my last visit. I've never left feeling like I had a good experience. The restaurant is absolutely chaotic during peak meal times. It is a cramped, over crowded, overheated, rushed, noisy, disorganized, overstimulating nightmare. Reservations aren't helpful. You'll end up waiting for your assigned table longer than the many people on the walk in list. It would be worth it all if the food was some mind blowing experience but it's just not. Food is mid. Surprisingly light and airy, a delicious dish. My wife had a crepe and said it's the best she's had in years. For dinner we both ordered the summer special. Si Bon was amazing. We were curious how they got away with using the Disney font, but stepping inside it almost seems like it was generated with AI. Oversized flowers on the ceiling with a faux-exterior wall with windows into the kitchen, a random gelato display case in a main thoroughfare through the kitchen and back to the bathrooms, and hanging art that genuinely looked AI-generated. I spent some time marveling at the hanging lights and trying to make sense of the decor. I would've liked the place to be a little cooler, since it was a very hot day in the desert. The menus are the coolest menus I've ever seen: They're backlit! Although one of the sides was flickering a bit. We went for the Restaurant Week special, which was a 3-course meal for $34. An incredible value. All 4 of us got 3 different dishes and got to sample each others and every single dish was amazing. I was especially a fan of the Duck Pate, Pork Loin, and Cheesecake combo. The food here was great - I had the French crêpe and my husband had the sausage egg Benedict which was served on a deliciously crispy and fantastic. While all of the food was great my favorite part was the huge sea salt chunks on the cubed fries - they tasted amazing! We also ordered two hazelnut lattes and they were cloyingly sweet so would recommend to order with less sugar. However a major damper on our experience was the mosquitoes. We sat in the garden area (past the main outdoor patio) because we'd brought our dog, which was nice and quiet compared to the main patio. While sitting there each of us got at least ten mosquito bites through the meal. We got progressively itchier and itchier the longer we sat and in the end we rushed out as quickly as possible. When our server brought us our check he apologized for the mosquitoes which was nice but also that told me they were aware of how brutal the seating area was and still sat us there anyway All in all, the food was good but near impossible to enjoy because we became a meal for the resident mosquitoes. read more

The menu is broad and there is something for everyone. That Lady had a traditional steak and Pomme Frite, I enjoyed the Niciose salad and another of group enjoyed the Stroganoff with pasta. Came here last minute on Thanksgiving evening and were able to be seated right away miraculously! I really appreciated that accommodation. This is such an amazing restaurant and has a somewhat unique menu that was exciting to try. Not pictured is their Wedge salad that was great, the ingredients were fresh and the dressing was a nice light ranch-like dressing. Also tried the lobster bisque. The flavor was super concentrated and I would not recommend it as a soup, however I used it more as a gravy for my mashed potatoes and it was so delicious! The mussels are probably some of the best quality, they were small but plump and were perfectly flavored. Our other entrees included various types of seafood that I don't often get to try. The sand dabs were fried to a perfect crisp, it tastes a lot like tilapia. The roughy was more tender which was also great. I had the lobster with the sole, it was a really unique dish and I think the portion is great for the amount you pay, but sometimes I wish I had more of the lobster flavor. Sometimes the sole would be overpowering or have a gummy texture. Their desserts were perfect, though I think they were just for the Thanksgiving menu. It's not a cheap Happy Hour (HH), but we sure left happy! In my opinion, Si Bon has a very good HH food menu in addition to $2 off cocktails, beers and glasses of wine. My family arrived right at 3:00P on a Monday and got a seat on their area of the patio dedicated specifically to HH in front of the neighboring Swiss Donut shop. A waiter wheeled out a heat lamp just for us which was very kind even though being from Seattle, we found the 70 degree weather perfectly pleasant. The bartender, Adrian, tended to us. He was really personable, funny and easygoing. I could tell he genuinely enjoys interacting with the customers and making sure everyone's having a good time. Four of us shared numerous dishes: + 4 DUCK TACOS ($16): Shredded duck with sliced avocado, onion straws, chipotle aioli and pico de gallo. The menu described the duck as having a ginger citrus glaze, but I didn't really detect those flavors. I did notice a nice touch of sweetness though. The crispy onions, smooth avocado, tang of the pico de gallo and creamy aioli made each bite delicious... we got a second order! + LOBSTER FRITTERS ($18): Each fritter was about two small bites, but they had a reasonable amount of lobster with a golden crispy exterior. The curry mayo added extra pizazz. + VEAL OSSO BUCCO ($18): The tender delicate veal came served on a scoop of creamy mashed potatoes. When we flipped the bone over, we found a treat of bone marrow inside which tasted nice and buttery. + BELGIAN MEATBALLS ($14): The meatballs were moist, but I didn't care for the Chimay beer cheese sauce, so this turned out to be my least favorite item. Plain fries came served on the side. + HOUSE CAPELLINI ($15): Al dente pasta came tossed in a light white sauce with a drizzle of pesto and topped with a golden brown crab cake. The pasta sauce was creamy and the pesto jazzed it up, pairing perfectly with the crab cake. Delicious! My drink of choice was their SI BON RASPBERRY MARGARITA ($13). It had a subtle raspberry taste and I found it pretty strong, but it was nice and refreshing. For dessert, we had the FRESH BERRIES AND CUSTARD TART ($14) which was labeled "family-style" and intended for sharing. The base of the tart was like a waffle... crispy, light and not too sweet. Torched custard, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries covered the top. Between the wonderful service and variety of eats, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here.
