Takeout here is solid. Love the selection and never disappointed when it comes to flavor. Had the pineapple fried rice, I know it was delivery and could have been hotter. I have picked up in person and the staff is friendly and quick to respond. If you're not in the mood for Thai Champa, this is a good alternative. Portions are large so plan accordingly. read more

Very nice family owned and family run small business. Food taste was great. We tried Pad Kee Mow and Drowning Ship. The only issue I had was the clam meat in the Drowning Ship had farming strings on them, you know those strings that the clams are attached to when farmed, and I don't think those are food. Had to hand pick each one out as best as I could and I doubt I got all of them, which really gave me a hard time to enjoy the otherwise very tasty meal. I ordered takeout from here and did not regret it. The yellow curry w/ chicken was a hefty portion that fed three people! If you want spicy, make sure to specify in a note that you want it "Asian/Thai spicy" otherwise they won't put any spice. I ordered spicy but tasted none of it. The coconut mango rice was sweet, but not too sweet, and the rice was just the right amount of sticky. Most importantly, the mango was fresh. Threw in a yummy Thai iced tea and the total came out to about $26, including tip and delivery. Not bad! I'll definitely eat here again when quarantine ends. Pro-tip: leftover curry can be used to make a ramen curry. Boil the ramen, put in the original flavoring(I use Shin Bowl), isolate the noodles from the broth, and mix noodles in with curry. Scallions, peppers, and black pepper are optional. read more

Great food in great portions at great prices. What could be better? I've only ever ordered delivery with Siam Grill, but they have not disappointed me yet. Any comments like removing bean sprouts in my food was always followed through, and the taste is the same deliciousness every time. They also pack sooo much food in a takeout box, I usually will always have leftovers for dinner. My favorite is definitely the Pad See Ew and Tom Kha, followed by Pad Thai and Tom Yum. I haven't tried much of their other foods, but am hoping to soon! Another strong point is that the delivery is so fast! They make their food immediately and it goes out the door so soon, I don't know how they do it! I usually receive it between 20-30 minutes right after ordering. They're not messing around with the spice, and i like it! Ordered extra spicy pad phet and it was delish. A little light on the broccoli and heavier on onion and bamboo shoots, but still tasty. I also poured the leftover peanut sauce from the fresh rolls on the pad phet to make it more saucy. Speaking of the fresh rolls, they were large and rolled tight. Very good. Still sort of feeling this place out. Has been a little hit and miss, but the hits have been solid. Not a fan of the curry at all, it's very watery and lacks many veggies. The Pad Thai was super good at a high spice level. I've had the Pra Ram twice. Once was great, the other time not prepared very well. Been coming here for around 5 years now for takeout. The food is consistently good every time. We like the crab fried rice, it is one of the more expensive meals, it was $16 pre pandemic and now $18 but we still order it every once in a while because it is just that memorable of a dish. The last 2 times I ordered, I also ordered the Golden Fried rice which is just Thai fried rice with a lot of curry seasoning which I really like when I'm in the mood for curry. The only thing Dish I didn't like was the pad se mao because the noodle were too soft and soggy. The people are also nice and speak decent English. I never had a problem making an order over the phone. Also there was a time that I made an order near closing time and was running late and they were kind enough to wait about 15 minutes past their closing time for me and they still had their Happy Faces on when I got there. Yep, the salad rolls outside wrap is thicker than usual and lends an almost jelly - like texture. They were great. My date had pad prik khing with chicken. Sauteed green beans and green peppers in a type of curry sauce with chili, kafir lime leaves, garlic and galangal. Slightly spicy even though ordered medium. According to my date, it could have been spicier. She said it was very good. I had their pra-ram, peanut sauce delight. Broccoli, cabbage, mushrooms and carrots with a curry peanut sauce. Very mild spicy wise. Choice of meats, I opted for the vegetarian version and had tofu. The tofu was deep fried so it had texture and flavor. It was great. There was a fair number of take out orders while we were there. It is a small place that might sit 30 if you used a old fashioned shoe - horn to squeeze everyone in. Never ever in my life, has anyone yelled at me like this before as the owner of this restaurant did. I was literally shaking and feel so traumatized. I love Thai food, American version of course, whatever you can find in the United States, and always down to try new places. So naturally I chose a place with lots of high reviews... not sure how this place is still in business with such rude service. Me and my friend sat down, first of all my water glass still had previous lip stick stains on it? EXCUSE ME?! Not to mention my friend also had to request new glass for her drink, all of them were dirty. The replacement glass was dirty as well. Ok at this point we decide to stick it out, the reviews say the food is good, even though we were already grossed out by the dirty dishes. I order a chicken pad Thai and my friend ordered a pad see ew, according to the server girl both dishes came with 0 level spice (no spice at all). We both went on a level 1 spice (1-5, 5 being the most spicy). When we received our food, the food was so spicy it was unbearable to eat it, nose immediately began to run and eyes watering. This was not level 1 spice. My friends and my dish both, were unbearably spice. I asked the server girl to remake my pad Thai with 0 level spice than. Not a minute later, the owner comes out and starts yelling at me in front of all the other customer that my pad Thai originally comes spicy and it's my problem. He came back around 2nd time and began yelling about the same thing, and did not want to remake me the pad Thai. I told him I don't want anything anymore and his response was "good" and stormed off. At this point, I couldn't wait to get out of there but my friend still needed to pay for her food. The owner came back out for the 3RD TIME! and began yelling again, at this point the customers who haven't ordered any food yet, began to leave one by one. I asked him polity to "please stop yelling at me" and the owner turned around back into the kitchen, slamming on the counters very loudly and yelling in the kitchen. I don't know what I did wrong, except asking to remake my dish. After I read more of the reviews, turns out I am not the only one. If you love your spiciness, that's awesome! However, don't ruin other peoples food if they don't want spicy. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. read more

I'd been missing Thai food during quarantine, but was pretty much sticking to doing my own cooking. Finally, I decided to order delivery from Siam Grill and I'm glad I did! I live close-ish to the location, but didn't think my food would arrive as quickly as it did! (It was lunchtime, so maybe not quite as busy.) My food was still hot when it arrived, always a good sign. I ordered the standard Pad Thai with Tofu and Salad Rolls with Tofu. Hey, I know what I like. The Pad Thai was delicious. A large serving, with lots of tofu and crushed peanuts, just how I like it. I went with medium spice, and my noodles definitely had a kick. The Salad Rolls were amazing. You receive two and they are huge! Nice, big pieces of tofu, fresh, crisp veggies, and sticky but not too sticky rice wrap. The peanut dipping sauce was fantastic. They provide a large container, so I poured some on my Pad Thai, which was an excellent decision. Peanut sauce is one of my favorite condiments in the world. When it's done right, I'm in heaven. I had enough food for lunch and dinner, which was an unexpected bargain. Restaurants will be opening again soon in Multnomah County, so treat yourself and visit Siam Grill. Very rude owner. Completely messed up my order. I'm allergic to spicy and I said no spice at all. They made my order extra spicy. I got a to go order but I was really hungry so I stayed there to eat in a to go container. One of the staff came in raising his voice at me saying "you got a to go order but you're eating here" and shakes his head. Took the menus off my tables and tossed them at another table. Great place for to go Thai in the area with large serving and quick service. My friends like to eat here so I surprised us all with a meal; I was able to phone in an order over the phone driving and was ready for pickup at arrival. They have a front desk specifically for pickup and pay that reduces exposure in the restaurant if your not wanting to hang out inside these days. This used to be our regular eat-in thai place. We want to keep them open and understand challenges of these times. Still, these last 3 times we got take out there was always something incorrect with the order. This time, as always, we are very clear that no eggs in any order as one of us has a severe life threatening allergy to eggs. Photo 1- pineapple noodles- N10 on the menu. Ordered vegan- no meat or eggs. You can see how much scrambled eggs are in the order. Photo 2 - chow mein N7- no egg, but spicy when ordered no spice. So, just be aware. This place is legit. I'm from L.A., and we have many Thai resto there, and this place is as good as some of our better ones in LA. The sweetness, spicyness, the curry and kaffir lime flavors, and overall taste is up there. The place is small and a little cramp, but that wont matter if you're served really good thai food. Based on how many doorsash pick ups that came by while we were there you can tell that this place is very popular. It was nonstop. By the way, the kitchen was fast. Highly recommended. read more

I'm a bit surprised at my experience at Siam Grill. My neighbor had great things to say about this neighborhood spot. I ordered drunken noodles and shared fried banana with sweet rice. My drunken noodles were okay. The best part about fried banana with sweet rice was sharing with a friend. It was crunchy but lackluster. All in all the flavors of the whole meal were simply okay. But the most disappointing part of the visit was the service. The lady(or owner)that served us seemed either extremely tired or maybe she just didn't want to serve us. She was curt the whole time. My friend and I figured she was just having an off day. Today I decided to stop by again and try the fried rangoons. My friend had them the day before and really liked them. I had the same lady take my order and she was even surlier then yesterday. Unfortunately it became obvious as I was walking out that she didn't want me in her establishment. I've walked past this location for two years and ignored and it seems like a good idea to keep doing that while I caution my friends to do the same. read more

Wanted to give this place a try. So glad that I did. I ordered and paid online. My food was ready on time. I ordered a Thai iced tea ( no picture). Full bodied where it was really dark on the bottom, and contrastingly lighter at the top. That's when you know it's going to pack a punch. I don't drink coffee, so . Not over iced either. Creamy and not overly sweet. Making myself want one now. I got the crispy spring rolls. They were packed with plenty of crisp veggies. Good seasoning. You get four in an order. Was feeling under the weather, so I ordered Tom Yum Noodle soup with chicken. Next time, I'm going to try seafood or beef. The hot & sour flavors from the red broth came through. Cleared some sinuses. They weren't skimpy with the noodles. The container was packed to the gills. Wish that the soup had more mushrooms, a bit stingy with those, and a bit less tomatoes. But, the tomatoes were sweet and added some acidity to balance out the heat. Perhaps a few different types of mushrooms and more of them and less onions. Although the onions were sweet and Al dente. A bit too many for my taste, and I love onions. I think I was given a lime. But if you ask for siracha, they have packets of it. When I'm feeling better, I will go back and order more. Perhaps green curry with beef and step it up on their given spice scale. If you're in the Gateway area, look them up. Currently no indoor dining. I've been eating some of the "vegetarian dishes" for some time here now. As I was hoping to begin making my way to eating vegan, I ordered a curry with vegetables and put vegan in the instructions, in case they could leave out butter, or anything in there I might not be thinking about. It was an online delivery through Grubhub and because they couldn't make the dish vegan they just refunded me the money, and sent the driver off with one of our meals, but not both. When I called, the woman said they put fish sauce in almost everything, so they decided it was best to just cancel the order, but not notify me. The main issue is that I'm realizing all of the "vegetarian dishes" I thought I had been eating all along with tofu and veggies were not vegetarian after all. She said this was on the menu, but I don't recall it being on there when I was in the building (perhaps it is?), but it is definitely not on their online menu, or anywhere on their website. It also wasn't anywhere on the grubhub menu. She also kept repeating that it says they can't make vegan meals, except for a couple of dishes (which are not specified on the website), but she didn't seem to understand that fish sauce means a dish isn't vegetarian either. So, vegetarians, be aware. That's kind of a bummer they don't have the ability to make some of those more common dishes vegetarian. read more

Good food at a fair price. Huge portions tonight, chicken Pad Thai was the usual great taste, loads of crushed peanuts. The chicken Cashew Nut had a nice sweet flavor with light heat for ordering it spicy. Only drawback to the meal was the Chicken Satay was hammered and little dry for being over-cooked (1st time that has happened in numerous times ordering this item), The peanut sauce has great flavor and a good thick consistency. I try to eat here at least once a month and will continue. I definitely recommend giving them a try. They also prepare meals very quickly for online orders, and text both of when it is estimated to be complete, and another when it is actually ready for pick-up. read more

3.50 Stars. Located in a shopping plaza next to a PC store and state farm insurance. There was only one other table with patrons when we visited and a few takeout orders came in. Vegetarians take note; they informed us that most everything on the menu contains fish sauce so not true vegetarian. :( All dishes that contain curry and the pad thai all contained fish sauce. So even if you order something with tofu that doesn't mean it is *true* vegetarian. There were only a few dishes that didn't have the fish sauce. They must get the curry in a pre prepped paste with fish sauce already added in. Big bummer as my husband always orders the pumpkin curry everywhere we go without fish sauce (he is the veg) and it has never been a problem. So he went with the drunkn' noodle and the cashew stir fry. The cashew stir fry 4.0 was good. He said he would order it again, but prefers the curries which are not available to vegetarians. The drunken noodle 3.0 star it was eh. The restaurant should put a liner note at the bottom of the menu stating what does and does not have fish sauce. The tom yum soup was on the sweet side. I really don't like the extra added sugar...but it was tasty and the vegetables were fresh. Better without the sugar. I had the khao soi chicken noodle dish which was good. This version was very bothy which I prefer. They also use white meat. I prefer it traditional with the dark meat. The spice level is good. I would order it again. 4.75/5 stars. The chicken sate was good but not memorable. My cats didn't like the leftover chicken sate from here and they usually go bonkers over chicken sate. Service was excellent and very friendly. They have some different dishes on their menu that look interesting and I wouldn't mind returning to try dishes like the pumpkin fried rice and the angry salmon. We would try them again. read more

Easily, 4 (possibly 4.5) stars. Family owned, this cute little Thai restaurant on Halsey finds a way to reign supreme when its business neighbors fail (including a Subway next door that closed down and a Plaid pantry that seems spooky and lonely). How do they do it? By consistently providing good and fast customer service and delicious, high quality food. I go there regularly and get either the beef salad or the pad thai, and am never let down with either. The noodles are great, and the vegetables are always crunchy and fresh. Best of all, everything is always perfectly seasoned and well-portioned. And If you like spicy (or spiced) food, this place is for you. A while back, I ordered a beef salad with "medium spice," and literally had tears coming out of my eyes. Yet it was so well cooked that I ate the whole thing! It was kind of like watching an episode of Flavor of Love (or Rock of Love, for you Bret Michaels fans): too painful to keep going on, but too delicious to stop.
