Prices are a little high, though, I ended up paying over $20 for a takeout dinner (rice is separate), but I guess they have to pay the Sunnyvale downtown rent. My favorite Thai place in Sunnyvale. The servers use to know me and my favorite dishes and get them started when I showed up. Made me feel like the Cheers TV show were they cared about the regulars, but lately the owner has been waiting tables. He knows me by face but not my order- so it has last that special feel. I know it was the dynamic servers he use to employ. Last time I was there was on a holiday and they were understaffed. Service to my friend and I was poor and I noticed the fellow solo dining next to me was ignored. For me, a former server and frequent solo diner, this is a no-no! I return because of the great food, but would encourage the owner to find some dynamic service people again- They can make or break your business. Come here if you like your soy sauce mixed with flies. I'm not kidding. I really tried to like this place and I've been here 3 times. I enjoyed the chicken skewers appetizers, and my curry noodles (hence the 2 stars). My friend wasn't so lucky. He ordered some soup, and put soy sauce, but didn't realize that there were flies in his soup until he was halfway done eating. Once he noticed the flies swimming in his soup, he panicked and we all checked our food for flies. He didn't want to cause a scene since the restaurant was crowded so he just pulled our server to the side, and that's when he found out that the flies were from the soy sauce and not the soup. She asked him "did you put soy sauce?" as soon as he mentioned the flies so the staff had prior knowledge of this issue but still had the soy sauces on the tables!! Thank GOD my other friend and I didn't put soy sauce and eat flies with our dish. It was fun teasing my friend throughout the night about making sure he didn't have wings or legs stuck in between his teeth and if he liked the extra flies seasoning. This place has been bookmarked on my account for literally three years, and it took a global pandemic for me to finally try it! So unfortunately I've only tried takeout, but I look forward to COVID19 being over for a litany of reasons -- among them being able to come experience some awesome thai food on always-cute Murphy Ave! Huge props to Siam Taste for offering an allergen-friendly menu. Items are marked for being gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan. Most dishes have the option to add eggs or any kind of meat, so you can customize to your heart's content. I've gotten a few of the noodle dishes and they are amazing and gluten free! The portions are a bit unpredictable (one time I was still a little hungry afterwards, but the next time my portion was just right) but that's possibly due to takeout rather than in-person dining. The noodles was barely big enough to share (lucky boo boo is tiny) and the basil chicken was unidentifiable since it was ground up. Hell, it could be roadkill for all i know. With red and green bell peppers, it amounted to about a cup of ingredients on a very shallow plate. WTF? This is what I get for $10.95 each? Worse of all, she secretly charged us each for rice! I have never had basil chicken that didn't come with rice, especially one of this tiny portion! I think it's shady to charge patrons for shit they aren't aware of. Did she assume we BOTH wanted rice because she charged us for 2 people! And WTF is this $12 minimum PER PERSON bullshit? At first, I thought it was $12 minimum to charge on a cc, but then I noticed what it really said. Food was very mediocre at best, service was non-existent, business practice was shady. No wonder the restaurant there had so many empty tables on this busy day! The occupied tables were taken by patrons at the nearby restaurants, not this place. Seeing Lorraine's review about how they counted her 4yr old and her baby as "patrons" and then automatically included the mandatory 15% tells you how unscrupulous they are. The waitress never checked on anything! I needed a refill on water but she was nowhere to be found. When she brought out the entree, she justified the dish being a small portion like this: "there is a dip in the plate, there's actually more than you think." Uhh, no there was not. The portion was a joke. When an older waiter was flagged down to get the waitress, he asked "what do you need?" in an annoyed tone & sent a different waiter to refill the water. I love finding meatless dishes in non-vegetarian restaurants; to me, it puts them in a category above the rest. It's a rare find in Thai restaurants, but Siam Taste happens to offer a soy protein satay. It's a different taste and look from what I'm used to at Mekong and Thai Cottage in the City, but still good. If it weren't obvious enough that they're accomodating to veggies, they have a separate vegetarian menu--that is, an actual menu you can flip through, without having to look through the main one and pick out which dishes you will/won't eat. My disappointment was in my main dish. I loved the nutty brown rice, but their peanut sauce turned out too oily, and spicier than I would've liked, or even expected. The hospitality echoed what I've experienced in most Thai restaurants: Warm and welcoming. They deserve props for being so veg friendly (+1 star), but regardless of your dietary preferences, this wouldn't be my first pick for Thai. read more

Not impressed AND rude service. The shrimp pad thai was nasty. Usually, you mix your peanuts, and squeeze the lemon on your own. But apparently here they do it for you. The noodles were really hard, it just all stuck together in one big clump. The only good thing about the pad thai and all I ate was, the shrimp. They were big and they were generous with it, there was about 6 big shrimps in there. Other then that, wouldn't recommend it especially for 11.95. Waste. I also ordered crab fried rice. Holy Batman, this place is the BOMB! Lizzy and I were in search of Pho in Sunnyvale, but lucky for us, the place we were originally aiming for was closed on Sundays. I didn't see any used and didn't detect the taste however they may've removed the leaves. 3) Thai eggplant is necessary for this dish just as potato is mandatory in many western beef stews. No eggplant in this dish which is probably because they were afraid that westerners won't like the taste. The green bell peppers were not an adequate substitute. 4) Basil? I only got 3 leaves when there should've been more. Overall, I give their green curry 4 and I ordered "HOT". The taste was very adequated and better than many Thai restaurants in Sunnyvale. In terms of authentic the taste is good but the ingredients were lacking. $12 makes this order a major indulgence for me and I brought it home and had it with my own rice and veggies on the side. Came in for lunch and order the satay chicken, pad thai with shrimp and spicy pan fried thick noodles with chicken. For dessert we had the mango sticky rice. The satay chicken was quite good. Very tender and good flavors. As for the pad thai, it did not taste as good as it looks. Often time caused by the result of substituting granulated sugar with the palm sugar and using inferior tamarind with wrong ratios. One thing that perturbed me a great deal is that the man, not sure if he is owner, was seemingly in a bad mood and was constantly clearing the table. I was still working on the satay chicken when they took away the dipping sauce. Even while I was eating the pad thai, he came over with the check. We weren't done with the meal as we wanted to order some desserts. When we asked for mango sticky rice, he shouted at the picture of the dessert on the table and kept saying "This one? This one?!". The ground beef basil and chicken basil was very good here. Make sure to ask for medium spiciness because hot is really spicy! If you're the type that can tolerate a burning tongue, by all means, ask for it. The red curry was tasty as well with the yellow curry. The pad thai and pad see ew were just OK for me. I came here for the first time for lunch on a Sunday. The other Thai restaurant across the street was closed, so we decided to eat here. The staff is very friendly, but the food is just average. The shrimp in crepes appetizer was not cooked thoroughly. The shrimp was half pink and half gray (raw), and the pork wasn't cooked either... They were nice about replacing the order. It was actually the best thing we had there. We also ordered the crispy catfish salad and chicken tom ka. I thought they were both too salty. The catfish in the salad was tasty and had a nice, crispy texture, but the flavors of the fish, mango, and dressing just didn't blend well. I brought the tom ka home and added more coconut milk and lemon grass, and it tasted better... I had their thai iced tea to drink, and that was too sweet. I wanted to try their sweet rice with mango dessert but decided against it since I wasn't too happy with my meal. Overall, not a bad experience here but likely will not come back. We were seated immediately and our servers were nice. Should have heeded the warnings of horribly slow service that the yelp reviews indicated, but it was Saturday evening and every restaurant on the street was packed. So we decided this suspiciously empty place was worth risking. About 70% of seating was still available. There were about 3-4 staff hovering around the cashier area, yet it took 15 MINUTES for someone to finally come over and take our order. Quality of food: not terrible, but laughable. I've never described food as humorous, but LOL at this experience. EXTREMELY small portions. I ordered the pad kee mao entree (which I always get at every new Thai place as a baseline for comparison). The ingredients sounded pretty standard on their menu, besides "lettuce" which I thought was odd for this particular dish, but ok nbd. However, when my order arrived, half of it was just straight lettuce and shredded carrots, and the other half was the actual noodles. For a moment I thought I had mistakenly ordered an appetizer. Meanwhile, a friend ordered some sticky rice and literally got a stick of rice in foil. Another friend ordered the $22 seafood special, which had 1 shrimp, 1 scallop, and 1 squid in it. My review is solely base on two items on the menu. Curry Chicken Noodle soup and Coconut Chicken Noodle soup. I probably been to this place 20 times or more, but I always order one of the above. Not to say the other things on the menu are not good, it's just that I enjoy the Curry Chicken Noodle soup so much that lately, I haven't even order the Coconut Chicken Noodle soup. If you like a thick yellow curry sauce with alot of coconut milk, then this is one of the best noodle soup ever! We had lunch here few years ago and I recall it as being pretty good so when we were walking around (looking for outdoor spots to eat), we decided to try it out again. First of all, the owner saw that we had our puppy with us and brought him water as he brought the menus. This was great and made us very happy. We ordered the papaya salad with shrimp, red curry with veggies and tofu, steamed rice and mango with sweet rice. Every bite was heaven. The vegetables were all fresh and not over cooked. The mango rice was the best I've ever had and I can't wait to come back and have more! I'm so glad that now that the farmers market has been moved, most of the restaurants have outdoor seating here.
