Unexpectedly came in on a Saturday early afternoon. Enjoyed the patio seating while the farmers market was underway. We ordered the fried pickles they were a bit spicy a bit greasy and soft and not all where covered with batter. I would say this was a miss. The Brooklyn Style Hot Pastrami although very good flavors was on the cooler side of warm, not what I expected and the accompanied tater tots where also a bit greasy. My husband had the Spinach for Veronica salad I have to say yes I sampled it! It was very delicious with the penne pasta and crispy bacon and the gorgonzola gave it a zing! I appreciate constructive criticism but I don't understand the negative reviews about this place. The first three I noticed were people that didn't even eat the food! Isn't this a restaurant? I have four kids, I live in Pleasanton, and I regularly cook a healthy wonderful meal for my family (go ahead, ask them.) When I go to a restaurant, whether it be for brunch, lunch, or dinner, I have higher standards than I did in my teens or my twenties. Sidetrack is a great all around local spot whether you're looking for beer and cocktails or a broad food menu that appeals to every kind of picky eater in your group. You want a medium-rare grass fed filet mignon candlelight dinner you're in the wrong place but if you wanna go somewhere with good food and good atmosphere dressed in whatever post-Covid outfit you happen to find yourself in you got a table and your belly is gonna be satisfied! (You might need a nap later). And (spoiler alert) the owner employees a lot of high school and college kids and believes in developing their skills as hard working members of the community so if you have no patience for the learning curve of a new hire once in awhile I'm sure you can find a nice jazz lounge somewhere with the paint chipping off the walls who would be happy to serve you but this place is run by and worked by real people with real heart and a real devotion to local business and I will continue to spend my hard earned money sitting on their patio debating between their delicious salmon or Spinach Veronica salad weekly. read more

I have now been to Sidetrack more than a handful of times, and I can confidently say it's one of my new favorite spots downtown Pleasanton! Their regular menu is amazing in itself, but I would also recommend stopping in for brunch. We tried their Bloody Mary's today and they were bomb! I order a Bloody Mary every time I go to a brunch and this one definitely ranks top three I have ever had. Must try! Our service has always also been great. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Texture was meat-like, though it didn't have a strong beefy taste to me. I think it's food, much better then the veggie patties of yore. Tuna appetizer - lots of marinated tuna on avocado with large crisps to pile it into. I was surprised st the size. Some other places it's barely enough for 1/2 people. I feel like you could share this for 3 people easy, The restaurant itself was large and clean with lots of patio and indoor seating. Servers were nice and they use handheld ordering and credit card paying, which is nice if you don't want to lose track of your card. Signing was on the device as well. The kids menu had chicken fingers, grilled cheese, and some other sandwich like options. My other kids didn't come but they would have wanted a pizza or Mac n cheese. Came for a friends birthday. We came for lunch and luckily I made reservations during a busy lunch time in downtown Pleasanton. Our waitress was really friendly and prompt. We never waited long and our drinks were never empty. Half of us got the Kentucky Cobb. What a delicious salad. The crunch of the lettuce and the smoky from the bacon and fresh fried chicken is the perfect combination. So so so good. Served with ranch which is what I prefer over bleu cheese. My friends felt the same. Really good salad. Another had the avocado rolls and she felt they were great. We shared a bowl of tots. Really a must when you dine here. The kids meal for my little guy was a big portion for a hamburger and tots and grapes. I do wish it included a drink in the kids meal. It's a fun place downtown. It always made me sad seeing this empty building for years in downtown, so I was so excited to see that there was finally a new restaurant going in! I have eaten here to-go, but finally got the chance to dine in. The location is very convenient, right off downtown. There is a large indoor eating area, along with outdoor dining in the front and the back. The patios look very nice, and I think would be a really nice spot when the weather is nice. The ambiance is casual and inviting. They have a full bar (yay!) along with some yummy looking cocktails. Their beer & wine list isn't huge, but has some great selections. I ordered the Maui Waui BBQ wings. The sauce was so good! I am normally not a huge fan of BBQ wings, but these were so good, a great balance of sweet and tangy. We shared the tater "todds" side, which is huge! It comes with a sour cream chipotle sauce which was fine, but I thought it was a little bland. The tots themselves were very good, and crispy. My husband had the crispy chicken sandwich, was one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had! The chicken was thin and super crispy. It comes with a cherry jerk sauce, which is so good, and good for dipping your fries in. Highly recommend this! Our server was very nice, and took great care of us while we were there. Great food, great service. What more could you want?! I had lunch here yesterday for the first time and wish I had made the time to check it out a lot sooner! We were in the mood for a light lunch so stuck to salads, but the portions were generous and the grilled chicken was really good. Nice char without drying out the meat. Really looking forward to coming back and trying the brisket and other options from the grill. Will be sure to bring my appetite next time! Service team ended up comping our soft drinks because they felt like they hadn't gotten our order as quickly as they would have liked. They clearly hold themselves to very high standards of service as we were not upset in the least with any aspect of the service. We went here recently after an outing of shopping at Outlets and Laser tag at an nearby amusement arcade visit. Needless to say we were famished and was looking for a quick lunch before we headed home to the East Bay. I had recently seen this place open and wanted to give it a try. I wanted check their Burgers and sandwiches and their beer menu. The appetizer of Calamari was ok but I loved their Pastrami sandwich with tater tots served a Spicy aioli sauce. My eldest son ordered the Impossible burger with fries. The kid burger was quite big and also came with tater tots, as well. I wasn't a fan of the Calamari because it didn't seemed to be breaded enough before it was deep fried. The portion of the Calamari was priced accordingly. The Server Jaycee was friendly, but seemed to have 1/2 the tables in the restaurant. Everyone else on staff was able to get us drink refills and get our final check because our server was busy with other tables. It is a family friendly restaurant and has pretty good food. This fairly new restaurant in downtown Pleasanton is a change of pace from the ole standbys. Since the weather has been so nice, outdoor dining is preferable during the summer months. The overhead awnings offers nice protection if you're outside. I decided to order the impossible burger since it seems to be the rage and it was my chance to try it. This meatless was surprisingly good but on the small side. Maybe I was overly hungry and should have ordered something else. You would think a $17 burger should be sufficient. I love this location in downtown. It is my go-to place for dinner with my family. I love that they have a dedicated vegan option and everything is always fresh. My only critique is that some of their options can be made vegan but are not very exciting. Like the cauliflower wings, they were just hot cauliflower pieces with a sauce with no breading. Had the bacon burger with garlic fries. Tasted pretty good- just a little salty. My friend had the Pancho Villa with an impossible burger patty. He thought it was good but it was odd that the patty was fried. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The best part of this visit was our server Jesus. He was awesome. He put up with us wanting to try different beers, he gave us really good and honest recommendations- he suggested the cauliflower appetizer and it was amazing! He had a good sense of humor too. It was on the same street as the farmer's market, so it was great that the street was closed and prefect for outside dining. They have two separate patio dining areas and our table was ready when we got there. All the staff we encountered were great and the kids got a kick out of everyone's costumes. Food: Started off with the fritti misto which came with perfectly battered shrimp, calamari, and an array of vegetables. Perfect for sharing. Chose the jumbo shrimp and crab Louie salad which I liked, but it seemed heavy with the amount of dressing. I would probably ask for the dressing on the side next time. I went to Sidetrack for the first time yesterday for brunch. There was a group of eight of us. The food was good, but the service was awful and our waiter was rude. Our waiter got annoyed at me because I asked for a spoon for my coffee -- the others didn't dare. They never got spoons either and stirred their coffees with their fork handles through their entire meal. So bizarre, a brunch place that only gives you a fork and a steak knife in a rolled up cloth napkin? We had to flag our waiter down or anyone else who walked by for refills on water, coffee, more creamer, condiments and whatever else our waiter failed to bring or didn't pay attention to. At one point, he filled a pint glass half way with milk and then slammed it on the table in front me and walked off in a huff and sat down in a booth over by the bar and complained to his coworker after I told him the refill that I had just flagged him down for was cold and that I was also out of creamer. I joking said to the other diners, "I'm afraid to drink the coffee". The funny thing, it wasn't busy at all! There was ONLY one other party there. Now, I know why! Geez! I guess it's our fault for expecting basic brunch service? I'm not sure if I'll ever go back. Who needs to deal with that nonsense? read more

Come for the drinks and music but don't order the food. I ordered the Sidetrack burger with Swiss cheese cooked medium. When I got the burger, the patty was dry and well-done. I had the burger sent back and when it came out the burger was still overcooked and did not even have cheese on it. I decided to just try it out but it ended up being a plain tasting dry hamburger with little to no seasoning on the wagyu beef patty. Overall the food was really disappointing and not worth spending $14 on. Some comments I got from my party were that the corned beef was too salty and the garlic fries taste like garlic. It's safe to say none of us finished our food and we will not being ordering food from here again. I gave one extra star because the live music was nice and the staff was polite. Our waiter was nice about remaking the food and took the price of the cheese off the ticket and was overall friendly. read more
