We ordered the filet mignon skewer plate and the chicken wrap and we noticed they seemed to be a bit understaffed. We tried to order iced tea but the machine was broken. After sitting down with our number, our food was taking a while and we saw a table that sat after us get their food first. The waiter came by a few minutes later to inform us he accidentally gave them our food but the kitchen was remaking it right away. He was apologetic and, in the meantime, he brought us hummus, pita, and a side of potatoes which I appreciated. Once we finally got our food, everything was delicious and the portions were super filling (enough to save for dinner later). You simply order at the counter, get a number and then look for a table inside or out on their patio or sidewalk. Everything we had was delicious and tasted fresh. The chicken meat on the chicken kabob and chicken shawarma plates were tender and full of flavor. I loved the garlic sauce that comes with it! The rice was seasoned perfectly. We all really loved the bbq chicken salad, it was a flavor bomb in every bite! My kids won't stop talking about it and they are wanting to go back for more. The hummus is creamy tasty, and the tomato soup was a delight and served with pita. My son had a hard time chewing the filet mignon skewers, so I'd probably order the koobideh for him next time. When you live in a climate like southern California where temperatures can rise to sizzling degrees (especially in the San Fernando Valley where we are almost scorched to death); your appetite often disappears with the heat. Those are precisely the days when one wants to consume a refreshing, light, 'feel-good' meal. Mediterranean cuisine is a perfect choice for the blistery days and often transports you to the Mediterranean coast with an ocean breeze tickling your cheeks as you feed your belly.  Los Angeles is not suffering from a shortage of this style cuisine and one such eatery eager to satisfy is Sidewalk Grill. Housed near the intersection of Vermont and Hollywood in the hipster-happening side of Los Feliz (you know the area: near the Dresden); Sidewalk Grill is a small square-foot but popular Mediterranean spot featuring indoor and outdoor patio seating. Parking can be tricky in this area but street meters are available or residential streets although these areas tend to fill up with actual residents of the neighborhood. Sidewalk Grill is the OG offering from the same owners who have since successfully established Sotta in Burbank (sharing a menu) and features the usual fare of wraps, kabobs, sides such as hummus, babaganoush, dolma, salads and some hipster alcohol like IPAs to wash it all down. Sidewalk Grill is quite tiny with more outdoor seating than indoor and is certainly a cramped space when ordering. My dining partner (whom has previously patroned both Sidewalk Grill AND Sotta) and I; arrived to a cramped line at the order counter. That's how Sidewalk Grill works: grab a menu, order at the counter, grab your order number and find a table. After browsing the menu, my dining partner and I chose kabob plates (that we would share the protein family-style) which are served with rice or salad, pita bread, garlic sauce and two sides. My friend chose the Dark Meat Chicken Kabob ($12.95) with rice, hummus, and Greek Salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions and feta in house vinaigrette) while I went with the Filet Mignon kabob ($13.50) also with Greek Salad, house salad versus rice and babaganoush. As we excitedly awaited our meal, we encountered our first issue. Although minor and not trying to sound like a Karen; my dining partner wanted the Minute Maid Lemonade from the fountain machine to mix with tea but it was only dripping straight water. He alleged that this was the case during his last visit, as well. We spoke to the order-taker who asked a co-worker if they will have lemonade and he basically confirmed the negative. This is fine; but then mark that on the machine versus acting like you offer something you do not. The second issue was that tables were not cleaned quickly with half empty plates and discards sitting around for quite some time. 'Time' is the key term here because you shouldn't come to Sidewalk Grill unless you have lots of it to spare. What do I mean? It took ages for our food to be ready. I'm quite sure my hair went grey just sitting there and my skin wrinkled. It took so long that we even asked the approximate remainder wait time and were told, "It's coming soon" with no apologies. Service here is simply low-rate. While starving and waiting; we were also bothered by an overly drunk customer at a nearby table who was loudly trying to converse with us from a distance. This isn't Sidewalk Grill's fault but it is a note of the variety of patrons who choose Sidewalk Grill for a meal. When our food FINALLY arrived; these negatives were somewhat redeemed by beautiful, fresh, glorious plates stacked high with food. Every detail of every food item is superb. My filet mignon was tender and tasty with a bright garden salad and lovely dressing on the side. I could have drank that dressing, it was so good! The Greek Salad was equally refreshing not skimping on ingredients and the babaganoush was lovely and light. Even the garlic sauce is delicious! The chicken is the lottery winner, though: this is the best, most tender, chicken I have EVER had!  That is some damn good chicky! UNREAL! The hummus also wins although I think it could have used more tahini. I am Celiac so I couldn't eat the pita but it looked standard. Bottom line is that the food at Sidewalk Grill is absolutely fabulous and will fill you up without leaving you feeling 'heavy'. Sidewalk Grill isn't the best dining experience due to poor customer service, very long wait time and other factors such as drunk customers; but the food is beyond-excellent and certainly worth trying. The prices don't break the bank which is a welcome relief during the current crazy inflation. Sidewalk Grill is great if in the Los Feliz area but if in the Valley: then better to just go to the Sotta location in Burbank. read more

If you can't already tell--I love this place. I discovered them about 2-3 years ago. It was my birthday and I wanted Mediterranean cuisine to serve my family. After discovering how delicious their menu was, we'd order food to go. I never had a problem with them. The quality of the food remained the same. Well, this year, I wanted to go Mediterranean for my birthday again. So I go on to their website just to find that their "family" option was gone and was replaced by a "catering" option. I decided to give them a call and see what fits my needs better. The word "catering" caught me off-guard. I thought maybe they were going to bring their entire crew and I was only ordering food for 13 heads. When I called-to my delight an associate transferred me to their manager, David. I told David what I was trying to do and he was super helpful. I'm talking he asked me what the plan was, how many heads, and explained how their "catering" works. After I got a confirmation of how many heads was coming; I called David and got my order placed. It was super easy and he made it that way. The day I picked up my food, I was glad David was there because I really wanted to meet him. I'm was so glad he was. He was absolutely adorable!!! I love his above and beyond customer service. It's really great especially when you have a beautiful place to sit down and eat, the food is amazing...add the very pleasant staff; it's a place I would love to just come back over and over again. He took our order, gave us a receipt and we sat down. 30 minutes later we are wondering what happened to our soup and salad? Geez! So i went back up to the register and asked did our food get lost? He grabbed a bag and handed to me saying "chicken, right? " i looked inside, and said, "chicken yes, but salad and soup". It was some chicken and rice dish. He apologized and started looking through a bunch of bags that were set aside. Low and behold, he finds ours. Like really? How long has it been sitting there? Ugh i was so annoyed. Wow I'm so impressed!! First off, great service! The girl running everything was very sweet and totally on point! Second, the food is spectacular and the beers start at 5.50 and are quite strong lol. I ordered the white meat chicken breast (they actually have the option between dark and white meat!) With two sides (can choose between one or two) and it comes with rice or salad (for free!). For my two sides I ordered the buttery potatoes and the pasta salad! I can tell they use all fresh ingredients and they use absolutely real butter, which is a huge deal. The chicken has the perfect amount of citrus and again can't stress the real butter. And omg the side of garlic sauce is just spectacular! This place deserves to be tried by all! Wow, I have been looking for a Mediterranean food spot since moved to LA & Sidewalk Grill did not disappoint a single bit. The wrap was bursting with familiar flavors with even better quality that I've tasted while living back in Miami. Unassuming and quaint hole in the wall but don't let this fool you - this place takes its food seriously. The prices are reasonable, the service is solid, and the food portion fair but the taste sets the bar. Started with the lentil soup which was hearty and can warm both the belly & the soul. And then had the boneless white meat chicken kabob with hummus and rice. Chicken breast meat is always hard to balance out as can fry our quickly but this one was superb as balanced between juicy and flavorful. The homemade hummus and the rice with the pita provide a vegetable and carbohydrate to help round out the meal. The place was deserted (of patrons) when I arrived to pick up my order. This place has, by far, the best set-up for Social Distancing. They placed blue markers on their floor. The blue markers are to guide the patrons where to stand or wait. Since I was the only one there, I don't know who will monitor the patrons if several patrons arrive at the same time. Super fresh and tasty! It's our go to restaurant when we order at work. I've only had this delivered but it's always good. It gets here quickly, in great shape and all utensils are included. My favorites are the white meat chicken kabob wrap and filet plate. Shirazi salad, potatoes, broccoli salad and grilled veggies are all solid sides. Don't get the tomato soup, though. The chicken was grilled nicely and has plenty of flavor and tenderness. Tons of soft rice. The veggies had that nice freshly grilled taste as well. The pita was fresh, just wish it came with more than 3 slices. The hummus was super oily, but otherwise fresh and tasty. Unless you're starving, it's pretty easy to break this up into two meals - half for dinner and half for lunch the next day. I ate here recently with my mom for lunch, and it was delicious! Generally, when we go for Mediterranean food, we opt for some very quick and casual falafel or chicken shawarma wraps on the go. However, Sidewalk Grill completely transformed our Mediterranean food dining experience. My mom got their chicken shawarma plate and I got their arugula and caramelized onion salad with falafel, and both were very different, inventive takes on the Mediterranean food we had been so accustomed to eating. I especially enjoyed my salad, and their falafel was perfectly tangy and spiced. The ambience was also a big plus because they have a cute outdoor patio for seating, which is nicely decorated and enclosed, so you are slightly separated from the noise of the bustling street as you enjoy your food. We came right as they opened, and it was a good thing we did because we just missed the crowd. You can tell this place is has some great food just by looking at the line that extended out the door at peak lunch hour, so I do recommend going early. If I had to critique anything, the wait for the food was a little lengthy, however, the freshly fried falafel and juicy chicken, right off the grill, was absolutely worth the wait. read more
