Place: Located in a nice area. Clean restaurant, excellent staff! Food: Chips are thick, and tasted freshly baked. The torta huevo I had was HUGE! I was not expecting that at all. I only ate half and saved the other half for dinner. It was the perfect portion for two meals! The avocados were nicely sliced, egg well done, pieces of bacon in the refried beans, and the bolillo was hot and nicely toasted on the outside and soft in the inside. Finally a place to go to get quick tacos in the Cypress area right off Louetta! Caught my eye as I glanced at Wendys on the way home. Not to many options for something good and fast out here and I was not in mood for same old food like taco bell or taco cabana. I really had no time to sit and eat and I am not a huge fan of taco trucks... This place does it, quick and easy. Even bagged my own chips and salsa to go. I had Tacos al Pastor with grilled onions (5 street style tacos with a side of charro beans) for $6.50. Can't beat that! I ordered one ground beef, two steak, two chicken, and one pork soft taco. The ground beef had a weird taste to this gringa. I ate the chicken, which was VERY good and oh so peppery, and the pork which was also excellent. I tried a piece of the steak which was tough but I could have picked up a bad piece. I went before dinner, and the huge pot of salsa had been sitting there for quite some time because it was dried, so I had to punch a hole in the dried out part and get the salsa underneath. Well worth the weirdness, because it was some of the best salsa I've had. The crockpot the salsa sits in should have been cleaned up after lunch. The chips were old school and sturdy. The soda fountain has seen better days. There are missing parts on the dispensers and the ice dispenser was very dirty. The salsa bar hadn't been cleaned up after lunch either. Bits of pico and several salsas offered were slopped around and not cleaned up. This place is a diamond in the rough to me, it just needs to be tended to and cleaned up a little. I never mind a hole in the wall but I do mind dirty soda dispensers and a salsa buffet that bakes in the west facing window whose counters needs wiping down after lunch. read more

Thank You YELP!!!! After having to look for somewhere for lunch after the place we were going too was closed on a Monday, we went to yelp mobile and found Sierra Madre. There is nothing wow about the inside...typical hole in the wall set up. The food was fantastic. They have a fresh salsa bar with more salsas than you will find at Taco Cabana. They even have one salsa that is heated in a crockpot. The chips were great too. I never have food left over for take home, but I did on this trip. I met the owner and he said they do a lot of catering too. This is one of the best finds I have made recently and all due to the almighty YELP. read more

It is obvious that some one is faking these wonderful reviews. I purchased two bacon and egg tacos a few weeks ago. The person serving was not very friendly. I asked for extra bacon and he ignored me. Thankfully he did because the bacon was raw. Totally raw people. Very little egg. This is about the fourth time I have eaten there and I refrained from doing reviews because I was use to texmex. Well now it doesn't take rocket science to crisp up bacon. I've been to Monterrey, Mx before and this is as good as it gets in this area. The workers are very friendly as well. We got the Arrachera for two which is essentially sizzling fajitas with beef, chicken, shrimp, sausage, onions and peppers. We actually came across Sierra Madres on accident a while back and we definitely keep finding our way back to eat more food! The restaurant is an open kitchen with self-serve chips and homemade salsa. If you feel like living on the edge, there's another salsa that sits on their counter labeled "hot!!" that deserves a few more "!" :) The service is ALWAYS friendly, no matter how busy or slow they are. This is a family-owned and operated restaurant and treats you like family when you walk in the door! They always have specials on their board of something new they want to try and trust me... TRY THEM! Everytime we walk in, whether they know our names or not, they recognize us and say "Hi! Long time no see! Where have you been?" Which is true... there are times that we would not be there for weeks and they would ask us where we have been! There was a time my husband went without me (for shame!) and the chef asked where I was! They know their customers and try and remember you every time you are there. For instance, they had pupusas one weekend (If you have never had pupusas, go get it... it's life changing! We'll wait here :) ) and I made the mistake of not ordering those and I even commented that I should have ordered those. We missed a couple of weekends and the next time we went back, he mentioned that I had missed pupusas the weekend before! Overall, the food here is really good! I remember I ordered something and they had actually ran out. The chef came out and apologized and offered to make me something else. I told him to surprise me and boy did he! It was a torta that was probably SO much better than what I had originally ordered. Another plus? You ALWAYS leave full! We stopped here on the way out of town after visiting some friends... and eating at this restaurant alone made us consider moving to Tomball from Austin. Yes. That's how good it is. Great food, fast service and a homestyle feel. Their street-style tacos are very good. They are still working on their alcohol license so if want cervezas, you can bring in your own. They also serve breakfast. Their warm salsa is kept warm in a crock pot and the salsa bar had plastic cups for collecting the other types of salsas. The cups were still in the bag. That was the only part of the restaurant that I felt was too casual. The guys behind the counter are very personable and share the love for the food they prepare. We went for breakfast on a Sunday and loved every bite. Inconspicuously tucked away in the corner of a strip center this place is easy to miss. I am so glad that we searched for it and stopped in. The food is authentic and the menu is varied. Tacos are delicious, the Migas were piping hot with fluffy eggs and crisp strips of fried tortillla, the salsas on the sauce bar were fresh and unique. This place is genuine, and the owners were welcoming and helped us choose from the incredible looking menu. I can't wait to go back for lunch and try a torta. Stopped by here while coming through Houston. It's a pretty small place, and we were the only two in the restaraunt. Our cook (maybe also the owner?) was really nice and the food was great! I'm glad we decided to give this place a try. I had the pork tacos with avocado and they had lots of flavor. The tacos were on the small side but the plate came with 5 so it was plenty of food. Not impressed. We ordered a few recommended items from the manager, when he finally had time to get off his phone to come to our table. The presentation of the food was nice but the beef had very little flavor. We then were going to try out the salsa station they had but everything looked very old and crusty sitting in the open air cart. I passed. The manager also did not return to check on us, instead he was on Facebook the remainder of the time. I know we may have been the only customers in there, but all the more reason to check on us and keep your place presentable. I did like the self serve salsa in the crockpot, but once again, it was self-serve and it didn't look like they maintained it much to keep it neat and clean. I won't bother to come back. read more
