My son and his friends decided to eat at Sikdorak last week. They went during lunch time since it was slightly cheaper than dinner. The server hardly came by to refill their water much less for anything. The bill came and they were charged for the dinner prices. Rather than complain about the incorrect charge, they decided that would be the servers tip since she wasn't good. As they were leaving, they were stopped by the same server and was told they needed to leave more money for tip. I was like WTH?? These are young kids and she barely did anything. Much less she charged them the wrong price. That is crazy. I told them no establishment can tell you to give them more money for tip. That's horrible. On a little path with many little boutique like restaurant. They somehow removed their door and wall and made it like the outside can no come in so that the ventilation inside works with all that BBQ smoke. Came here with a party of 5, was seated immediately as I had called ahead of time to make sure they have availability. A lot of bigger parties come here and it baffles me how they accomodate but they manage. Great family place, good food, service is reasonable for only having one serve, but the quality of food is the most important and they meet the standard. Enjoyed ourselves very much and glad we found this place. Hoping to have a chance to check out other restaurants and dessert shops in this little private alley next time. I am so disappointed. I saw that was a 3.5 stars but decided to try it out anyway because many elites rated it as 4 or 5 stars. First off, the prices were not what the banner says on the front, $21.95 for adults. It's actually $23 +tax per adult. Second, it's an all you can eat MEAT restaurant. That means no steamed egg, no soups, no seafood pancakes, nothing. I told myself to suck it up and stop being so picky but the banchans were HORRIBLE. They served is 5: bean sprouts were bland, kimchi was okay, fish cakes were flat and flavorless, salad was also flavorless and watered down from I guess the lettuce being washed previously, and mac salad was okay. Third, if you give me limited meats and terrible sides, I will be content with my dinner as long as I have a good sauce. Nope! The oil was made from vegetable or canola oil, not even the tasty sesame seed oil. How the heck can I enjoy my beef with that kind of oil?! Fourth, service was terrible. We were seated rather quickly but we had to always ask for refills on all our sides, meats, water, and grill change. Plus those refills took way to long. I don't usually write one star reviews for restaurants, but it was such a terrible experience. If you are looking for unlimited cheap cuts of meat and no sauce, this is your place. I personally like the full kbbq experience with good banchan, at least semi-nice cut meats, sesame seed oil dipping sauce, and good service. Sadly, I didn't receive any of the above. They have 12 choices of meats: short ribs (boneless), ribeye, tongue, brisket, pork, chicken and yes, they have a few cuts already seasoned in their special sauces. I'd go during an off hour or you may end up waiting for a table. Parking in the Sam Sung Plaza is available and it's a dollar with validation. This place was terrible..The fire was so weak that all the meat took forever to cook. It literally took 10 mins to cook 6 pieces of meat and there were three of us, so we were able to each eat two pieces of meat every ten minutes. We did not get any apology or compensation for the horrible service or broken grill. We didn't see any Koreans eating while we were there. No wonder. No grill or char marks on the meat whatsoever because the fire was so low. I wanted to stand up and leave but because a good friend recommended the place we reluctantly stayed. I was born and raised in Korea (and also lived in CA and VA) and I have never, in my entire life eaten at such a terrible Korean bbq. Even though it took over 10 minutes to cook six little pieces of pork but they had a rule on the wall said "All the customers have to eat and leave in 90 minutes." this is the worst ALL YOU CAN EAT KOREAN BBQ. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that this place is good. Stuck on three stars, not quite two but not four. It has its ups and downs. I'm convinced it's more the company than the food, but here I am back again. This place still has pretty good food (fried mandoo is bomb), but most of the meat all was stuck together and service felt unwelcoming. I say go to Sidorak 2 if you can. Maybe it's because Sidorak 2 is a different crowd? The staff does check on you to change out the grill and to get more food. Didn't have to press the call button. Sometimes the wait is long though. I have gone a few times recently with Elite PFC on late nite meat seeking cravings.They have a decent sized parking which is usually not full but you must still pay $1 with validation. The meats are never ending but I typically just order the ribeye. The price also includes several side dishes like kim chee, green salad, potato salad, etc. Another great thing is that this place is BYOB so you can drink your good stuff while eating till you get the meat sweats. The only bad thing about this place is ventilation or lack of it. It can get really smoky when its busy but you cant beat the price. Reservations are not accepted so later is better. They ordered a bunch of different meats that filled up our table. We literally had no room for anything!! I guess the boys hadn't eaten all day so they were ordering like everything possible. But then again, they are pretty big eaters so I wasn't surprised. The food was actually pretty good... considering it's all you can eat and only $20. They give you some sides but they weren't that great like how some other korean restaurants are. I think the only thing I liked was their cabbage salad. You'll have to get a parking ticket from the attendant if you park in their lot, or you could probably park at walmart or ala moana and walk over. The restaurant itself is pretty small. and there are no vents above the tables like you see in most k bbq places. But they have the front doors wide open, so i guess there is enough ventilation from that. My friend and I were feeling a light lunch, so we ordered bone soup and cold noodles to share. The bone soup is really good, I added some of the salt mix they have on the tables and it tasted even better....The cold noodles were a little bland, i wish they put more radish and cucumber in it. but we put some hot mustard/vinegar in it, along with some kim chee and spicy radish kim chee.
