Went here at 7PM on a Saturday night. It was not packed at the time but the rush hit at 7:30PM. They have a great atmosphere and good service. I knocked a star off because the food is quite a departure from Thai food. It was good in it's own way, as long as you don't have the expectation of it being authentic. It makes sense for them to americanize the dishes to be palatable, so just come in here with that expectation. They didn't have any of the traditional thai salads such as papaya salad, glass noodle seafood salad (yum woon sen), beef salad. I did see some of these as options in their old menu, but I guess it has since been taken off. The Massaman curry had a lot of potatoes and a tiny bit of meat. It was also quite sweet. Overall it wasn't bad as long as you temper expectations. The Kao Soi was very flavorful and was our favorite dish of the night The Pad Thai was also very flavorful and sweet. I liked that it came with an egg. Make sure to ask them to make it spicy or to give them a spice level, because they don't ask and they will give you a very mild dish. Which of course is great if that's what you want. Otherwise, just make sure to put in that spice stipulation in your order. Overall the place is good for a date night and for people who want Thai-ish food. But if you've been to Thailand/are Thai and are having a hankering for the local favorites, you might want to try elsewhere. read more

It rarely happens when I really cannot say anything negative about a place. I was doubtful about going to this place but glad I went. Loved the outdoor seating in the perfect location. Food was great too. Its not a regular thai restaurant but more like Thai fusion. I ordered green curry pasta and my husband order rice fried salad or something like that. Both of the dishes were like chef style, served nicely and was very unique. Servers was nice, initially I thought that she was rude but later realized that's the way she talks. The only thing was cleaning, table was not wiped properly and when I went to washroom noticed the kitchen area as well which was not that clean. But overall it was good experience. read more

Wow, this place is incredible. Having lived in Chicago, I wish I had found it sooner as I miss authentic Asian food from back home. Walking in, you're greeted with this beautiful, almost romantic, atmosphere. The decor is simple, dimly lit and there is a lovely sushi bar in the corner. Its very homely but doesn't quite feel casual, which is nice. For starters, I ordered the avocado tempura. They give it with some lime and a nice spicy mayo-type sauce on the side. The tempura was lightly battered, giving it a nice airiness. I was shocked by how light they made the avocado feel. They also gave so much for $5! Easily 5/5 dish. For entrees, I ordered a Crispy Curry Rice Salad and Pad Thai. The curry rice salad was outstanding. The rice was essentially bits of the crunchy rice you find at the bottom of a good paella, but flavoured with a red curry seasoning. It tasted divine wrapped in the lettuce they give. (5/5). The pad thai was rather other ordinary - just like a pad thai I've had anywhere else in Chicago. I wish I could've had something else on their menu but there wasn't much vegetarian option other than these 2 for the entrees. What I specifically love about Sili Kori is the uniqueness of their dishes. A lot of the dishes are Thai dishes I've never had before, but they still retain the authenticity you look for. I look forward to coming back and trying their son in law eggs, which is the only other vegetarian entree. read more

I come here way too often and should own stock in the place. They have the best Pad See Ewe in Chicago and if you don't get the noodles crispy you're doing yourself a huge disservice. Pad Thai also quite good as is the Panang Curry. Do keep in mind these items are in the Thai Village which is what the place was before SK so you have to ask for that menu. Silli Kori consistently exceeds my expectations. I first ordered from this place on a whim. I was trying to support more small, independent restaurants than my regulars during the pandemic, and noticed it used to be Thai Village. Many years ago, Thai Village was one of my regulars for nearby, quick, inexpensive Thai food ... so I gave it a try. I expected passable Pad Thai and Panang curry, but it's honestly some of the best I've had in this city. I've never been to Thailand, so I have no idea if it's authentic, but I do know that I love it. It quickly became my wife's favorite Thai restaurant too. I've explored several items on their menu now, and each one has been surprisingly delicious. The crispy rice salad has become one of my favorites. Wanted to check out some Thai food on a brisk fall Tuesday evening. Decided to check out Silli Kori. Silli Kori has a wonderful interior and atmosphere. It's perfect for a date night. Wasn't packed and busy on a Tuesday night. Just the perfect atmosphere. Service was great. Waitresses were very friendly. So far so good. Now this review isn't going to go downhill. I've vacationed in Thailand before. I had pad thai off the streets for $1 in USD with a $1 tiger beer in Thailand and the amount they give you is insane. Fast forward to reality where now I'm in Chicago in the cold, and at Silli Kori. Decided to get chicken pad thai and the Kao Soi. Kao Soi I swear is the name of one of the red light districts in Bangkok. Don't ask how I know this. LOL. Anyways both dishes were fine. However the noodles on the pad thai were very thin and the meat (chicken) was severely lacking. This dish was $11. If you're charging me $11 for pad thai and making probably a $10 profit off it, at least give me more noodles and chicken man. The Kao Soi was a very interesting dish. I liked the execution and the taste actually. It's a beef stew/curry with fried noodles that get more soft noodle when mixed with the stew. Solid dish! All in all I liked the place but I think you can get your bang for your buck at other places. Service was great. Atmosphere and interior was wonderful. But the food left me hungry for more. 3 stars now. On the edge for 3.5 stars! read more

Dropped by for lunch last week thanks to the sign out front: "Lunch specials for $8.95!" You had me at cheap eats, baby! My wife and I came in for the panang curry with egg roll appetizer, as well as the veggie fried rice with veggie tempura. While the veggie fried rice was fairly bland (I don't feel good asking for soy sauce, but I probably needed to do it here), the curry was great and that veggie tempura was lightly fried to perfection. Everything is made to order and tasted like it was picked today. Tomato salad and endive salad were so good. The mussels were beautifully presented and delicious. Try the curry and you won't be disappointed. Great atmosphere and music. Update: They opened a sushi bar in the back of the restaurant a few months ago and it is a gem. Every dish is perfectly prepared and artistically presented. They even serve you a free tasting while you are looking at the menu. Fairly priced and very personable staff. Silli Kori is silly good... prob not the first person to say this but I'm just being honest. I took my family here and my mother is damn hard to please when it comes to food, claiming she can make w/e a restaurant serves her as better. We have a couple restaurants in our rotation, with Opart Thai being one of them. But given our experience here, it will be hard to go back there. Let's start off with the lunch specials: they are advertised as being served only M-F but the server told me they're served all week long. Score! We started off with Avocado Tempura and Corn Fritters. The avocado tempura was lightly battered and the dipping sauce was delicious. The corn fritters were pretty much hush puppies with sweet thai dipping sauce. Great way to wet the palate. I ordered the moo ping (grilled pork skewers). There was a nice char and the meat was v. tender. Came with sticky rice which I wish had some coconut flavor in it but all in all so good. My parents and gf were all surprised at the quality of food given how few patrons were in the restaurant. Their curries are PACKED with vegetables and are available as lunch specials too. We loved you best when you were Thai Village but watevs. Your prices have gone up whereas your quality/quantity has diminished. We're very dull people and order essentially the same items every time so we notice when your crispy rolls lack crisp and your Pad Thai lacks pad thai. I used to have to finish my wife's meal. Outdoor seating was clean and the waitress was extremely helpful. There was a language barrier, our waitress had a thick accent, but we had no issues overcoming it. She was very friendly and attentive. The food was honestly delicious. The ingredients, specifically the vegetables they used, were crisp and fresh. As for drinks, I can vouch for the Singapore Sling. Im shocked I haven't reviewed Silli Kori, its my neighborhood thai go to! I personally find their cooking to taste very authentic. They have a good cozy ambiance here; dimmed lighting, with dark wood furniture. They have a beautiful mural on one their walls, they play good (low volume) music, and always have a stalk of fresh flower on your table. The service is always good. They have a good lunch special for under $10 which includes an appetizer & an entree. You can add a soup for $2. Consistently delicious dishes. I typically get the Pad Kee Mau, my husband loves his green curry that is also very tasty. Ive also had their appetizers sa their crab soup, the lettuce wraps, crab rangoon. Solid and well-run take out operation. We have never dined in but it is a very cute restaurant and has nice outdoor seating. It also just feels very clean (the space, the food, etc) which has never been more important than ever. You MUST try their fresh rolls when you order, they are my favorite and a perfect starter for the gluttony of noodles and carbs to follow. Our usual is pad thai and red or green curry. I consider Sili Kori as my comfort food restaurant. One of the best Pad woon sen that i have tried. The crispy vermicelli rolls is definitely a main stay in my orders. During warm temperatures, the outside dining area is enjoyable. I just hope they do something interesting on one side of the restaurant where the sushi area was. read more

I was so impressed by this Thai restaurant. It's got great vibes- cool decor yet still with a comfortable feel. My friend and I stopped in here for a late lunch on a cold Saturday to see a nearly-empty dining room. The waitress was extremely nice and helpful when I asked for suggestions. I ordered the chicken pot stickers as my appetizer that's included "free" with an entree, and I'm serious when I say they were the best pot stickers I've had in my life. The light sauce on top gave them an amazing flavor, and the texture allowed a perfect bite. For my entree I got green curry. It was extremely tasty and I can think of nothing negative to say about it, though I wouldn't say it's the best I've had. My friend got a really cute mule drink, and was pleased with that. after moving from lincoln park to wicker park last summer, I needed to find a nearby thai place with good vegan options, because vegan thai food is my favorite (the best place in Lincoln Park is I'm Vegan, 10/10). Silli Kori is just that. They have a full menu of non-vegan thai food, but they can make most dishes vegan upon request!! this is so great because I have non-vegan friends, so I love finding a restaurant with plenty of options for any diet. Silli Kori can also do gluten free! Anyways, they make the BEST vegan Pad Se Eew i've ever had. I'm Vegan in LP still has my fave vegan pad thai, but Silli Kori also does a killer pad thai. I haven't even branched out to try that many other vegan entrees because I always crave the Pad Se Eew. Perfectly thick noodles, plenty of tofu and veggies, and they also offer extra tofu for an upcharge, which I love. The fresh rolls and vegetable pot stickers are classic appetizers, especially the fresh rolls, which have an awesome flavor profile. Vegan crispy rice salad is also a great rice dish to mix it up from noodles. Next on my list to try is the green curry. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. The delivery (available through grubhub) is always faster than estimated (at least to where I live) but the restaurant itself is really nice and cozy inside. I was so surprised and delighted with this place! I've walked past in multiple times and finally stopped in for dinner. We ordered the Kao Soi and a Pad Thai (forgetting the name). The Pad Thai was delicious and fresh, but the 5 stars for this restaurant is because of the Kao Soi. Holy crap. So good. Strong, delicious flavors, the meat was tender and not fatty, the cilantro on top was so fresh. Ugh. Can't stop thinking about it. Also got the Similan cocktail which was 5 stars as well- so fresh, flavorful, balanced and delicious. I think I'll probably go again today :) read more

Pad Thai in a egg envelope? What?! This place is very delicious. My wife wanted Thai for her birthday and she found Silli Kori through looking at the reviews on Yelp. We're glad we took the visit to this place since it turned out to be a pretty great find! Granted, I love Thai food, so it's pretty hard to disappoint, but the pad thai was pretty intriguing. If you're looking for the typical Pad Thai/Pad See Ew, you're not going to find it here (on the menu at least). That said, what they do have is pretty different than what you'd expect from a Thai restaurant. The decor elicits a more intimate and classier Thai restaurant than what you would normally think of Thai restaurants, so a perfect spot for a (cheaper) date. The dish I got was the Kao Soi - egg noodle in a beef curry soup. It was rather delicious and the mustard greens helped keep me wanting more. My wife got the Soi Khaosan Pad Thai, which I assume must be a more special form of Pad Thai. I didn't really get to experience the specialty of breaking into the egg envelope, but I got to taste a bit of it and found it to be quite standard, in a good way! Overall, not a bad place to fill a Thai craving. Sad that there wasn't Pad See Ew on the menu, but glad to have tried what I did! read more

Very subpar Thai place. First there isn't that much on the menu besides pad Thai and a couple curries. It feels like they r trying to do the whole minimalistic approach to Thai food which doesn't work when you barely have the core items. We ordered the pad Thai, crispy rice salad and Kao soi. Soi khaosan pad Thai: very average to pad Thai I could microwave from Costco. The noodles were very soggy and overly sweet. The giant egg omelette plopped on top caused the pad Thai to retain way too much fluid. Crispy rice salad: like the concept but execution could be improved. The crispy rice was overly salty like drenched in soy sauce which forced you to wrap it in two or three lettuce just to eat and guzzle a glass of water with every bite. Kai soi: this was prob their best item. The curry had a nice coconut milk consistency and well seasoned with a nice spicy kick. The only downside is the portions are too small. Service was soooo slow. I was waiting 10 minutes between dishes and even longer just for the lady to take my check. Idk why it's just one server for everyone but they need to step up their dinner game. In sum, was looking forward to this place given its high stars but was disappointed in its hipster minimal Thai fusion. Traditional is always right and if you are going to mess with that then it better be damn good. read more

I was recommended this restaurant from a Thai friend. I was really puzzled at first because the menu they give you looks like fancy schmancy upscale Americanized Thai food. Despite multiple mentions in reviews, there is no pad see ew on the menu they give you. That being said, I ordered it anyway. The pad see ew was flavored very well, tasted authentic, not overly sweet or salty like other pad see ew's I've had. The pad thai was also done well.
