Very disappointed! The experience starts when you pull into the parking lot and are greeted by the host. I made reservations online and with 3 people standing around the host stand - no one greeted us. The young lady that was doing the table chart this evening looked up at us as if we were lost. I said we have reservations at 5 and provided our name. She did not acknowledge- just looked down again and then looked up and just looked at us. I again repeated myself while the other two employees just stood there. The gentleman with the menus asked her what table as she seemed completely out of it. She told him a number and we were finally taken to our table. My husband and I were completely caught off guard by this type of service as we have gone to Silo many many times- we even held our son's engagement party there. We sit at our table and the waitress was fine - however - very disappointed in the fact that after about 45 minutes another table was seated next to us. It was a family of four. The first thing she said was "are we celebrating anything special tonight?" The family said no - what was disappointing was the fact that when I made our reservation- I put in the box that I was celebrating a 22 year wedding anniversary with my husband that night. I received confirmation about my reservation so I know that it was made - I would have loved to been asked that question and to share that we were having a very special evening. No cared about us and no one took the time to show hospitality in a hospitality business. I am beyond disappointed and discouraged from wanting to ever return to Silo again. read more

We brought a large group here and the Silo crew absolutely delivered. The team kept up with our drink ordered no problem, they had plenty of appetizers for us to pick from, and the dinner was delicious. The facility is also gorgeous. We we on the patio (in March) and they had plenty of heaters to keep us warm. We had to turn most of them off because the space is so comfortable. I've been wanting to come here for a long time and was looking for a grand excuse to dress up and eat the delicious food they offer. This restaurant sits beautifully in a hidden area of Lenexa. When you walk in, you can easily tell it is a country club with the restaurant sitting behind a golf course and attached to a swimming pool area. The hostess was very kind and led my partner, and I to where the other dinner guests were seating in our reserved private dining area for a group of seven of us plus a little newborn. The wait staff were patient and attentive to our needs and wants. I recently visited Silo Modern Farmhouse to celebrate my best friend's birthday, and while the setting and food held promise, the overall experience left much to be desired. To start on a positive note, the lobster and crab cakes were flavorful and well-prepared--definitely a highlight of the evening. I also tried the cast iron Lyonnaise potatoes and broccolini, both solid sides that paired nicely with the seafood. Surprisingly, the fries from the kids' menu (my son had the chicken tenders) were some of the best I tasted that evening. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Upon arrival, I felt a glimmer of excitement when I was warmly directed to the birthday party table. However, that was the only moment I sensed the hospitality one hopes for in a celebratory dining experience. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand the challenges that come with handling large parties. However, our server seemed noticeably disengaged. Throughout the night, I only saw her a handful of times, and each encounter felt rushed and unenthusiastic. Basic questions--like which non-alcoholic drinks were available, or what juice options were offered for kids--were met with uncertainty. I even had to go to the bar myself to get my son a juice that never arrived with his meal. His kids' meal was also supposed to include a dessert, which was never brought out--or acknowledged. While I did notice other staff members checking on our table (and I appreciated the team effort), it was clear the assigned server was not up to the task of managing a large party. If a gratuity is automatically added for large groups, I believe it's only fair that it reflect the contributions of the entire team--not just the primary server. One other issue worth mentioning: the lack of communication around splitting the check for the group. While not every restaurant has a formal policy, it's common courtesy to inform the host or party planner if checks will be combined or split a specific way, especially for a large table. It's frustrating to be charged for items you didn't order. In short, Silo Modern Farmhouse has potential--good food and a lovely location--but my recent visit didn't live up to expectations. I hope this was an off night, but I'm not sure I'll return anytime soon. Best for: Small tables, casual dining, and maybe not ideal for larger groups--unless service is stepped up. read more

This semi hidden gem is a great dinner option if you are looking for elegant and farm to table! All the servers were very nice and on top of everything as soon as we sat down. You won't be disappointed with the food because it's all extremely fresh and wow you'll be blown away with everything. Ok so it has been YEaRs since I have been to Silo based on a super sad take out experience; I wrote about it.... Finally decided we'd go back; very happy we did! Our anniversary is next week and so when I made reservations I let them know...they were very attentive to that; even giving a free cake and champagne toast. Had the well reviewed goat cheese app, the presentation is so cute and the food was yummy The bread basket is different from what I remember, and the popover roll was chefs kiss! My husband enjoyed the drink list (water for me); loved his dark beer. He got the braised short rib sandwich and fries; enjoyed them. I got the salt smoked beet salad, SO good, the pistachios and pistachio butter were great compliments to the amazing beets. I added steak for $7, was not worth it honestly, cold and poor flavor..,should have gone with salmon probably. The salad alone would have been better than with the steak, so just skip that add on; or better yet just order a full steak The atmosphere was lovely for our date night, it was a lot quieter than other places on a Saturday night; upscale but not white table cloth . I really like the place and so much happier to return and be able to recommend it...still hesitant to do take out though, since the ambiance and platings are so much better in house.... read more

My husband and I have been here multiple times and never had a bad experience! The food is always wonderful, the staff attentive and very nice, and a GORGEOUS atmosphere. What more could you ask for in a restaurant? We brought my parents, who live out-of-state, here several months ago and they can't stop talking about it. Today, we decided to try their brunch. Once again, we were not disappointed. My husband likes hot tea and, when it was brought out, the presentation was more than what we expected. They bring out a case, which is opened to reveal multiple tea bag options. The teacup and teapot designs were very elegant. He chose the hot cinnamon sunset flavor and it was delicious! Cinnamon with a hint of citrus, perfect for fall! For our entrees, I ordered the smoked salmon bagel sandwich and he ordered the Sunday chicken. The sandwich bagel has Asiago cheese baked on top and the sandwich contains: Boursin cream cheese, a fried egg, fried capers, smoked salmon, and pickled red onions. It is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. For my side, I chose the roasted Yukon potatoes, which were also really good. My husband's Sunday chicken was a boneless fried thigh with a side of poached chicken salad, whipped potatoes, gravy, Brussels sprouts, pickles, and pickled onions. He said the whole dish was very good and the chicken was moist. I'm a Southern girl and let me tell you: when he had me try the fried chicken thigh, it ranks at the top of my list as the best fried chicken for me. I have been to Silo for dinner and lunch several times before and have been pleased. On Saturday, March 28th I went for lunch with friends. It was a disappointing experience. The service was good-friendly and attentive, but a Bloody Mary cost $18. It arrived with one lime wedge and one olive. I was charged extra for spicy and for Tito's. There was no well vodka option. My pasta with shrimp seemed like a half order, when I ordered the $26 regular version. We had a birthday celebration in our group and there was no special acknowledgment, even though it was mentioned several times. The food tasted good, but we had dinner prices for lunch and no mention up front of up charges. read more

He did not have basic knowledge of food, drinks or even how the restaurant ran. He had no personality and seemed to not even notice his staff. The staff seemed to be doing a great job despite this. Had a reservation and a nice table for four of us by the window. Loved the interior atmosphere. The Server came by and said she would be right back with waters. We waited wayyyyyy too long. Appetizers were very good; we had cheese curds and crab cakes. Again, had a long wait for server to return to take our order. The really bad part was that only three of the four entrees came out at the same time. It was very awkward-maybe five minutes waiting on the fourth to arrive and our food was getting cool. To me this is not acceptable for a restaurant like this. I had the salmon and it was delicious, but the temperature was inconsistent from one end to the other. There was plenty of parking available in front. It is a pretty building and view to pull up to. We were greeted and taken to our private room and deck area right away. They made up a signature margarita which was quite tasty and it was a relaxing place on the deck facing the pond and water feature. It was a more intimate area to relax and enjoy. There was a delay in placing the appetizers and after the initial round of drinks being delivered to people they were placed on the table by the food. The Caesar salad was interesting with full leaves, the dressing was good. I had the dish with 3 different chickens, I enjoyed the chicken salad the most of the 3 options. The servers were great. First off, the service here is excellent, but that's about all I can say positive about this establishment. You know a place has lackluster management when the carpets are filthy with ground in food, the bathrooms are dirty with trashcans overflowing, and there's restaurant supplies stacked up on empty dining tables. Not a good look for an "upscale" "farm-to-table" restaurant in a country club. The menu sounds creative and original, but the food was generally lackluster. Our smoked cheese curd starter was so flavorless we didn't eat more than a bite (and to acknowledge the service of the staff, they took the item off our bill). The wedge salad was that in name only. The gnocchi was served in a very tasty sauce that was more souplike and the few gnocchi provided were swimming in the stuff. The dish came with no spoon or bread to sop up the flavorful sauce. What was all that sauce for? Finally, the half chicken served three ways came with a housemade chicken salad which was flavorless, a piece of roasted chicken that was neither hot nor moist and also flavorless. Only the boneless fried chicken had any flavor and that was served lukewarm. The brussels sprouts were mushy and flavorless and the mashed potatoes were served with what appeared to be a beef gravy (?) and both the potatoes and the gravy were burnt from sitting under a bulb warmer. For a place that is supposed to be an upscale farm-to-table restaurant, we don't think much of anything came from a locally sourced farm. Attention to cleanliness goes a long way to making first impressions and a more studied approach to the dishes would be appreciated. read more

We've decided to not go back to Silo. Instead of telling management tonight and maybe making a scene, I decided to calm down and come home and write a review.Our friends made a reservation two weeks ago four people at 5:30pm with the expectation that we would have a "modern" dinner together in the restaurant. Unfortunately we were seated at a metal patio table that wobbled for six on a concrete floor in a plastic enclosed patio, while tables for four sat empty. When we asked at least to sit at a table for four the person seating us told us they had a lot of other reservations. Whatever that means. I guess our reservation didn't count as one that rose to the level of deserving a four top. The service was fine, but the food was average and over priced. We spent $100 plus tip for average food, stingy wine pours, lousy ambiance and atmosphere, and seated at a table that was like we were at a lake patio bar without the view. At least when making a reservation one should be informed of the possibility of being relegated to an overflow patio.There are too many other options for eating out in Lenexa than to put up with experiences like this at Silo. read more

Silo's food is good, but you come (and pay) for the ambiance. It's a great place to take a lunch meeting, treat your parents, or enjoy a nice sunset. The food is the perfect example of good country club food with well-done plays on classics and flavors that are easy to like (e.g., angel hair shrimp pasta, surf and turf, a good burger, solid salads). If you're looking for a culinary experience, you could probably get more for the money going somewhere closer to downtown (check out Corvino, The Antler Room, Lula Southern Cookhouse, La Bodega), but if you're looking for a nice night at a nice restaurant in south KC, Silo's got you covered. I always order the Whipped Goat Cheese, and the drinks are fairly tasty and diverse in profile. Recommendations are recommended. One note--if you're coming here for a special occasion, I'd recommend asking for a seat away from the bar. The one bad experience I had at Silo was when my friend and I were seated right next to the bar, and a group of drunk country club-ers made the night not as fun and relaxing as we had hoped. read more

We love this place. Another fine meal tonight, appetizers by the fireplace during happy hour with our favorite server John. He's a real pro. Whoever he was training tonight is learning from the best. We've never had a bad meal here. If you're visiting the area and looking for dinner check them out. They offer a community table in the bar area if you don't reserve as spot. But reservations are strongly encouraged because locals love this place so it fills up fast. What a find. Make sure to have a reservation, even if it's a weekday lunch. Food was fabulous, we had the Honey Berry salad, the Octopus Ceviche, and the Lobster Crab Cakes. And one of us had the Oso Boca Non of our plates were taken off the table with any bites. It was a clear day, so the view outside was sunny-ish and bright. We will be back for sure. Wife and I trying something new for our 18th Anniversary, first impression was the atmosphere seemed nice, once we sat down at our table and talking while looking over the menu we both noticed that the music was like teenage girl dance music meets Night At The Roxbury (Absolute by Foxes was on at the time for example, I used shazam) looking around majority of the people were late 30's to 50's so music a little more chill would have set the mood. We ordered food and my wife got the Beef Tenderloin Salad, I ordered the 16oz. Ribeye ($70) says 21 days dry aged and comes with 2 sides. Food comes out and my wife's salad looks great she ordered the steak medium well and it had the perfect amount of pink inside she said it was very good. My steak comes out I ordered it med well, it has some type of brown gravy type sauce covering it that wasn't mentioned in the menu, if I would have know this I would have asked for it to be on the side, I cut into the steak it was tough and more on the well done with no pink should have sent it back then, first bite the gravy on it taste like watered down packaged brown gravy and it had a burnt taste so flipped the steak over and yes the steak was what I would consider burnt on one side the ribeye also didn't have a Cap on it so the whole time I'm eating this I'm wondering if they gave me a burnt strip rather than a ribeye. At the end its my fault and should have sent it back. Our server was nice. Don't think I will be going back. read more

The drinks were excellent. The food was good, but not all great. The atmosphere was loud, crowded and a little warm (portable AC units running). The service was great, and the bill was about $40 a person with drinks. We had a great time, and will return! This is our second time at Silo, and was a much different experience than the first. We picked a Wednesday night, thinking it would be less crowded like the last time, but sadly the place was packed. We arrived a half hour before our reservation time, and were seated immediately. It took a minute for our server to figure out we were there, but the place was super busy. There were portable AC units set up in several places around the dinning room, which we assume was due tot he unusually high outside temperature. Once we had the much needed water, we ordered drinks and received a very generous pour! Pop overs and flat bread were delicious. For dinner, the meals were delicious. One of the meals wasn't as good as the person eating it thought it should be, but we basically enjoyed everything along with good conversation and good drinks :-) In all we have a great memory of the place, and will return :-) read more
