Silver Chopsticks is a restaurant that I always see yet never seem to choose, but after my last experience, I think that will change. This place really is delightful and has better than average food. I often like to look for a healthier option when it comes to my food and so I chose the garlic chicken. Often, I'm served with chicken in a garlic sauce which is not HEALTHY but is better than some of the options. Here, however, it was a fried chicken in garlic sauce, very much like orange or lemon chicken. It was a disappointment but that doesn't make it bad! My food was cooked well and tasted very good. I also ordered spring rolls which were very good and had a side of amazing peanut sauce. Service was also great, our server was very funny and prompt with our meal. Anything we needed in addition to our meal she was very helpful with. Great spot in this area of Reno and worth your time! 5/5 service, 4/5 food, 5/5 location. read more

Upon receiving my tea my order was taken. Within 15 min of walking through the door I had my fresh Pho sitting in front of me and let me tell you, it was delicious! When I questioned the higher prices they suddenly had difficulty understanding what I ws saying and insisted the prices are right. On a whim we decided to go for some pho yesterday and silver chopsticks is right up the street from us so that's where decided to go. We were sat right away and we were really only the 3rd party of guests so it wasn't busy to begin with. We ordered 1 order of spring rolls to share, I ordered the rare beef pho and my husband ordered the sesame beef lunch entre. The spring rolls were good but the peanut sauce wasn't my favorite. My pho was good and so was my husband's entre. I really don't have any complaints about it, the service was great, the food was good but was nothing to write home about. This place was pretty good we got our food to go and the staff was super friendly!!! The shopping center they are in is easy to access and has plenty of parking. You walk in and the staff greets you and offer to sit you immediately at their well-lit tables. It was not a super loud place, it seemed like a quiet diner that I would like to try again. However, seems like the Chefs give you smaller portions when you order to go which was disappointing considering their food was actually spicy and very good. My elderly parents rave about this place and really wanted us to go here for dinner when we were up for a visit. When I saw that this was a Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant, I was a little worried. Generally, when a restaurant tries to do more than one cuisine, they both end up sub par. That being said, while the vermicelli could've been better, the Chinese food was pretty good. The main reason for the 4 stars is the service. The waiters and the owner are outstanding. My dad is hard of hearing, and my mom has slowed down quite a bit. The waiters were exceptionally patient and kind, repeating questions and answers when my folks didn't hear or understand. The owner always comes out to say hello and make sure that my folks are well treated, and the wait staff frequently checked if everything was fine. Kudos to the team here, and we'll be back every time we come for a visit. Thank you for taking such good care of my parents!!! read more

Good food! The pot stickers are huge and tasty, and the accompanying sauce was delicious. I did the mandarian dinner with my fiancé, which came with a huge bowl of wonton soup. It satisfied my soup craving, and we had lots leftover to take home. We shared the generals chicken and sesame beef, which were tasty as well. The shrimp fried rice was my favorite, with 3 huge shrimp (I would've liked more). They brought us out our appetizers, veggie spring roll with peanut sauce which was quit good and a few minutes later they brought out the main course our pho soup and it was good. My husband got me the hot and sour soup because I'm sick and he knows it always makes me feel better. I literally got nothing but a bowl of broth. None of the veggies, none of the tofu, nothing but broth. I think the food here is very affordable and I like their lunch special. The food tasted okay to me. It was good but I didn't order anything spectacular. Perhaps more experienced customers will be able to shed light on some things I may have missed, but this place didn't stand out in my mind and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I give this Chinese restaurant 5 well earned stars. We live close by and go often, we have never had a bad experience. When you leave feeling you didn't pay enough for the lovely meal you just had, tells you something! Owner Chef is friendly and welcoming and will quickly know your name! Super pleasant and attentive staff always recognize you when you return and remember your likes and dislikes. Some of our favorite dishes are Mongolian Beef, Kung Pau Chicken, Three flavor with Garlic Sauce, Chicken Chow Fun (order "dry", it's the best),,,,,,list is endless. The Hot and Sour Soup is totally wonderful as are the pot stickers and the pot sticker sauce is to die for. Prices here are wonderful and a great value. Your hot tea is complimentary, nice! Buyer beware. We ordered our dinner and noticed that the bill was high. The only number on the bill was the total. Everything was scribbled and no prices for the entrees were shown. We went to the counter and asked them to itemize each entree. We we totaled them up, it was 20% lower than the total given to us. We asked why the difference and they said the tip was included. But no where on the tab was any mention of a tip charge. They automatically add on a tip but do not document the amount on the bill so you think this must be the total and the tip is extra. Now this is my second favorite place to go for pho or for my spring roll fix. I love their tofu vermicelli noodle soup-I squeeze some extra limes. The soup is light and not too oily. Being a cold rainy day, a large bowl of soup seemed in order. I remember seeing this place while shopping a couple weeks ago and decided to drop in. The exterior is unremarkable considering it's in a strip mall. Inside the decor is equally unremarkable. However all the tables were neat, clean, and with all their accessories. I went with the rare steak pho. It arrived promptly. The serving size was quite decent. The broth was good. It came with a large side of vegetables. At $7.50 for a lunch entree I could find nothing wrong with it. The staff was courteous and prompt. I was quickly greeted when I arrived. My drink was refilled several times without even calling it to their attention. I also noticed them chatting with apparent regulars without neglect their other patrons. TURN THE TV DOWN! I went to this restaurant at 5pm on a Saturday night with my folks. We were greeted promptly and shown to a table directly under a wall mounted TV. I immediately asked to be reseated at a table away from the TV and if they would turn the TV down (soccer game). We had a question about the preparation of a dish. The busboy said he would get the waiter. The waiter came, answered the question and asked us what we wanted. We said we were still deciding. He left and did not return to take our order until 20 minutes later after we told the busboy we were ready to order and he said he would get the waiter. Suddenly the TV's sound was turned way up--even though the closed-captioning was on, another patron insisted on hearing the ROAR of the crowds! We ordered fresh spring rolls, pot stickers, war wonton soup, a mushroom dish and a chicken dish. All of the food was satisfactory. As we ate, the restaurant got busier. The noise level was very high. People were talking loudly, over the TV sound. Since the restaurant is one big room with an exposed ceiling, there is no sound absorption at all. That's not the environment I want to eat in. Lastly, our check was delivered by the busboy, minus fortune cookies. Even though my Dad put his credit card in the book, hell could have frozen over before it would have been picked up. He finally had to get up and take it to the cashier. I really wanted to stiff them on the tip, but I didn't want to punish the busboy. He was the only one who provided excellent service to us. If you want to talk while you eat, don't go here. I really enjoyed the original Pho place that was here, but the truth is I only continue returning out of convenience. The food is just okay now. The original place had an amazing broth and was almost exclusively a Pho restaurant. This changed hands, or names, or whatever a few years ago and branched out into a Chinese menu that also serves Pho. Since that time the menu has shrinked to nine Pho items; I would have loved to see a War Wonton soup but alas that was not the case. They also have a few traditional regular soup offerings one would expect at a similar place, (still not War Wonton). I had the seafood combination Pho, currently listing at the number 9 position on the Pho menu. The seafood was fresh and good, plentiful and abundant, I took no issues there, but the broth was just so ordinary. Mind you a few years ago, I probably would have never thought this could make such a big difference, but it does and did here; not a bad experience but ordinary. It was well presented but strangely enough even the timing there was off. Maybe, I'm off on this one but they served one of our meals (our sons) with the Pho accompaniments, which made it seem as though it were part of their meal. The remaining meals were brought out following this initial offering. An issue resolved easily enough but it was awkward with the timing and being placed on the other side of the table. The three stars is a reflection of the efforts of the staff, without such they would likely be a two. Though I hadn't tasted them, the comments about the other dishes were less than stellar. When I commented on how ordinary mine was, I was offered similar observations about their own meals. I hope they will make some improvements, again the original place was great; I continue returning out of convenience, but without something better to offer, convenience will not be enough to justify the visit. read more

I used to eat at PHO 21 (Loved the #1 bowl - best broth in town, was the same as 777 downtown), Silver Chopsticks took over, and I have eaten there multiple times. After those visits, I would only recommend it for to go on Chinese Food only, as the tables are dirty (they are black), with sticky residue on the tables. I got a bunch of junk on my sleeve after just dry cleaning my shirt, they blamed on my dish, but I am super careful about sauces and such because I wear professional clothes. You could feel the dried residue on the table. I returned again, and same thing. You have to feel the table not just look at it, and it's gross. They blamed it on me (BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE), so I didn't tip $2 as I was doing consistently doing and wrote it off as a business doomed to fail (CUSTOMER SERVICE). Last time I ate there I didn't put my arms on the tables. I went back because the first time I went there the Pho ingredients were fresh, although the broth was terrible. As a lunch place close to my work, I wanted some Pho, so despite the dirty tables, I would give a try, my second Pho was terrible. The ingredients were not fresh like the first time, and the broth is terrible. Since they took over a spot that had delicious broth and they bought the place and the recipes from Sonny, I thought I would let them know that his broth was much better, the server was very abrupt and insisted their broth was real and authentic, while Pho 21's wasn't (This conversation happened on my first visit). I said it doesn't matter what's authentic, it's not good, and Pho 21's/777's is the best! Final result if you live in the area, take it go, and you might find a spot that you offers above average Chinese. Also ask for the Hot Mustard, it's the real deal, I almost choked to death on it! read more

I hadn't been since Pho 21 went out of this space and I had modest expectations (our favorite place was closed this evening, too). The decor of the place is still very pleasant, and no piles of junk on back tables as with the previous owners. Actually, of any of the Viet places I've been in town, this is probably the nicest-looking of the five or six I've visited. The server and manager/owner were also very friendly. Unfortunately, if the food in a Vietnamese places is mediocre, decor and service are ultimately less important. This was my experience. It may be just a strange coincidence, but the chicken broth in the pho has an uncanny resemblance to food-service-grade bulk chicken broth I remember getting at cafeterias as a kid. It was barely edible; a pale almost opaque yellow, sort of thick, very salty, and lacking any other seasoning that what you'd expect from a can of Swanson's. I've been other places where one could get creative with a bland broth (e.g. adding hoisin, fish sauce, chili oil, etc.), but here I could only try to cut the salt and fat with the lime wedge and some basil. Other things ordered by my party were similarly iffy. The pork bun (over vermicelli and lettuce) was tasty (and large) enough, but again lacked much seasoning. The pork pieces were also too large and fatty. The egg roll on top was just blah. There was a fried rice fan in our party so we had the bbq pork rice, which was a good version of the standard American favorite. Unfortunately, it too was over salted (or soy-sauced). And, of course, there was no kids menu. Save yourself the disappointment and drive the 15 minutes down McCarran to SK Noodle in Sparks (except on a Wednesday). I'd place them overall at 2.5 stars, somewhere between okay and meh. read more

I've visited this restaurant twice. The food is good. The restaurant (yes, even the rest rooms) is clean. The staff is friendly and kind. The service is fantastic! My son ordered war wonton noodle soup. He ate all the wantons, and wanted more. Most other restaurants would have just made us buy another bowl. Instead, the waiter added wontons to my son's soup a la carte. The smile across son's face was priceless. Nothing makes a parent happier than seeing their children happy. read more

1st time eating at Silver Chopsticks. Had the lunch special which was only $9.50. We had the egg flower soup and the hot n sour both had really good flavor. The egg roll was nice and light. The chicken basil had great flavor. I like when there are large pieces of basil and not just flakes. Hubby had the beef n broccoli which just as expected, nice pieces of beef with nice fresh green broccoli. We had the fried rice with that which was a little plain. Over all it was a lovely lunch and we can't wait to go back and try some of their specials. It was just what we wanted a nice friendly local place to get some good Chinese food . read more
