Poor service. O.K. food. My boyfriend and I were starving and decided to order some take out. We called them and asked for a regular sesame chicken, a barbecue pork lunch special, and an order of pot stickers. They asked if we would like steamed or fried rice with the special as well as which soup we would like. We told them steamed and the egg drop soup. The call ended fine and 10 minutes later my boyfriend left to pick it up. When he returned, we started unpacking our bag and realized we only had an order of pot stickers and not a regular sized sesame chicken, but a sesame chicken lunch special. We were both annoyed but called the restaurant right away because we understand that sometimes they forget to put items in the bag and we have partial responsibility to check the bag before leaving. When I called, the first person who answered didn't seem to understand what I was talking about and kept saying they did give us the lunch special. After a few minutes of them repeating the same thing, they passed the phone over to another employee. This employee quickly became rude saying that we never ordered anything like that and if we would like to get it, we were no longer allowed to order over the phone but would instead have to walk in and order then wait the twenty minutes for them to cook it. At this point, I was furious that they would be so rude about their own mistake so I hung up and decided to just share the food they did give us. The lunch special was nice. It came with a cup of egg drop soup and an egg roll. They give you about a cup of chicken and the rest of the container is rice. The egg roll tasted vaguely like tea which I found very strange but it wasn't terrible. The egg drop soup was like viscous salt water. The sesame chicken was pretty good but tasted a little oily. The pot stickers also tasted like tea which I think was coming from the cabbage. Overall, the whole meal was pretty disappointing and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

Every time we ordered to go they made a mistake on the order. The last time not only did they not gave us all we ordered even tho I repeated the order 2 times over the phone and one more time when I arrived to pick up they gave me the wrong sauce for my plate. read more

My new go-to for Chinese in NW Reno! I've eaten here 4 times and it was great each time. The lunch specials are very fairly priced for the amount of food you get (I always have leftovers!). The potstickers are very good and the General's chicken (ask for it extra spicy) is some of the best I've had. 1st time eating at Silver Chopsticks. Had the lunch special which was only $9.50. We had the egg flower soup and the hot n sour both had really good flavor. The egg roll was nice and light. The chicken basil had great flavor. I like when there are large pieces of basil and not just flakes. Hubby had the beef n broccoli which just as expected, nice pieces of beef with nice fresh green broccoli. We had the fried rice with that which was a little plain. Over all it was a lovely lunch and we can't wait to go back and try some of their specials. It was just what we wanted a nice friendly local place to get some good Chinese food . read more

My girlfriend and I love this restaurant! We go every Friday night and have been for the last month or so. We have yet to be disappointed and neither have our friends/family that have either gone with us or have gone on our recommendation. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and are always ready to help out. I have never had a bad experience with them. I've read some reviews about it being very loud in the restaurant, which I have not experienced. We can have a great conversation without having to yell at one another. Finally, and most importantly, the food is amazing. We have tried something new every time we have been there and we have not been disappointed! Everything is priced very affordably as well. Pretty good pho not the best I have had but good and convenient , great owners and easy , fast takeout. Got to-go & dined in here once. Staff is nice but very awkward. I had to repeat my order probably 5 times, maybe they didn't know their own menu? Had to show them a picture. This place had some good pho, what I really liked were the dumplings. The dumplings were thicker than what I've had but I really liked them, the flavor and stuffing inside was so tasty. ** 5 * STARS ** So I was on a turn around trip last month leaving Reno (first time ever) to drive back to Los Angeles. I was by myself that night & only stopped at this restaurant because I was at autozone across the lot but STARVING & couldn't have drove back on a empty stomach + I didn't see too many options around late night. so I went over & ordered some TOFU+VEGGIE PAD THAI to-go & filled up the tank ready for the highway, but I took a few bites as I was getting ready to leave the gas station & it was just TOO GOOD to not order another to-go. I've been to plenty of locations in different cities & states, but it's rare to find food cooked with all the right flavors, texture, freshness & love. If I go back up there in August, I'll be sure to visit again but this time with a group of people : ) read more

Golden Flower downtown has recently been on a price bulge with their menu. China Diner seems to have given up completely. So, I have been looking for reasonable replacement for each of these and have found it -- and I don't have to go to seedy downtown anymore. They combine Pho and Chinese and do a good job with decent prices. The Pho is aromatic and well seasoned. The chow mein, beef brocccoli, and ginger scallion lamb were all on par with what I would expect good Chinese food to taste like. The potstickers are the best. They are made onsite and just delicious. The staff is direct and efficient. Food comes out quickly. read more

Silver Chopsticks can be a hit or miss among me and my friends, but I still manage to personally enjoy their food. The key might be to find certain dishes that perform the best and make your tastebuds happy. One of my favorite dishes to get by far is their chow mein pan fried style. It costs a dollar extra to get it pan fried style, but the serving is rather generous for a meal under $10 and the crunchy texture along with the sauce doesn't disappoint - kinda reminds me of how some of the other asian restaraunts in Las Vegas and SoCal make it! My friend also got the egg foo young once and we both enjoyed that, worth a try. However, I had a curry-based dish once and I was not pleased with the texture at all. Some of the meat dishes as well (like the Sesame Chicken) can be extremely hit/miss - I had a friend who loves it and swears by it everytime he comes here, but my tastebuds have had better. This place may not be open as late as Golden Flower, but their service is better. Some of their dishes are a little weaker, while others have consistently been my favorites. Give it a try! read more

They forced me to pay a big tip that I didn't want to because my group was a "party size group" even though each person had a separate check and everyone was already paying their separate tip. I enjoyed my lunch break at the silver chopsticks. The lunch special I chose was the chicken lo mein for $7.45. Accompanying the dish was a choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup. I chose egg drop. It arrived quite promptly. The service here is excellent. There's an enjoyable, friendly banter amongst the dining room staff. It's quite casual. The main course arrived before I finished my soup, and featured the chow mein, a side of fried rice and a spring roll. Were it not for the heavy grease in the lo mein, I'd have awarded them 5 stars but I'll certainly be back and will recommend to friends. read more

It was Friday night after work and I have yet to explore Chinese food near my place. Took a risk and came here and was pleasantly satisfied. My go-to is the House Chow Fun and it was fantastic! I also had a ice cold Thai tea with my dinner. My boyfriend had his Shrimp Chow Mein and finished his entire plate! This has become my go to Chinese food joint for take out. The sesame chicken and general tsos has been consistently good. The breading is always crisp and there's plenty of sauce to soak into the rice without being water or gelatinous. The price point is good and they have great lunch deals. We found Silver Chopsticks on accident, and what a great find!!! The food is delicious, and you will not leave hungry. Prices are also very reasonable. I always order the pho, specifically #1 - Combination beef noodle soup. Their broth is on point, and you get to add your fresh veggies, lime, chili paste, hoisin, jalapenos, or whatever you like to get it to your preference. The spring rolls are delicious as well (accompanied with a very tasty peanut sauce). If you like pork sandos, you must try theirs, full of flavor; we usually order 2 to-go, while we are enjoying our pho, so we can have them for dinner later. Sometimes, we won't even eat in the restaurant, but will just swing by to grab a couple sandwiches before we head home to Truckee. Staff is friendly, and restaurant is clean. Enjoy! read more

For no good reason, it took us 2 years to try this place, even though it's very close to our main grocery market. THAT WAS A MISTAKE!!! We're from SoCA, and used to eat at our favorite Thai place at least once a week. We're still looking for great Thai here, but may not have to, as we've found GREAT Chinese food priced reasonably, and nearby in Silver Chopsticks. So far, we've tried at least a dozen, or more, things from their Chinese menu. At first, the dishes were a bit too sweet for our taste, but "Sing", who used to be a Chinese food chef, and speaks excellent English, told us to simply tell them to use "less sugar" or "no sugar". Since then, everything we've had has been excellent! We've even learned to request "a little more spicy" for some dishes (but watch out - "the fish with salt and pepper" also had a bunch of jalapeño peppers - it tasted great, but it was spicy)! So, I suggest that you definitely try Silver Chopsticks. And, if the food is too sweet, or not spicy enough, etc., COME BACK soon, and tell them your preference. The restaurant serves both Pho and Chinese Food. Went with the Pho since the Chinese menu looked like standard American Chinese food, which I avoid. I ordered the tender beef brisket and rare beef pho. The portion is large and filling. There are a lot of noodles and beef. Unfortunately, the beef brisket is on the tougher side. The broth was fine. I add a lot of hoisin and hot sauce to my soup anyways. They didn't serve the usual basil with the normal set of condiments - bean sprouts, lime, jalapenos. I also tried some of the tendon in the tendon and tripe soup, which was good. Tender and chewy just like it should be. Decent bowl of pho for the Reno area. Reasonably priced for the portion size. Pho was very good. I ordered a chicken salad expecting a version of Chinese chicken salad, it was a box filled with limp lettuce and pasty white thin disgusting chicken. It has about 4 peices of chicken. The dressing was rice wine vinegar and sugar. Very disappointing. I would only go back for the pho! read more
