We stopped here after a trip to old silver- my friend has a family home there. She went here many times, I had not.. the attached gift store was cute. I had the baked scrod- it was perfectly cooked. Portion seemed a bit small to me, but enjoyed the baked potato it was perfect. Came with a salad with nice greens. My friend enjoyed her mussels and the chicken parm was enjoyed as well. The Expresso martinis we ordered as it was touted to be "best of Boston".. they were just ok. But I'm spoiled from getting them at the local Portuguese club where they use real Expresso... The Time Machine that brings me back to my childhood visits to the cape. A perfect welcoming environment for the family, with consistent comforting food. We received a warm welcome and were quickly seated. I enjoyed the Friday night Scrod special with a baked potato. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the potato was a massive delight with butter and sour cream salt and pepper. Tonight, I gladly enjoined a coke and my wife opted to have Creamsicle which had perfect balance. We finished our meals sharing the warm brownie Sunday with my two kids. This is a perfect example of a quaint, New England-style restaurant. The interior is decorated with unique nautical decor, but the real attraction is the train caboose attached to one side of the restaurant. I ordered the Rueben and my wife got the Pastrami which was unbelievably delicious. My entree came with chips but I upgraded to the fries. The service was quick and the waitress was very friendly. Cocktails seem to be on the small side but the Martinis were delicious and you can't be the prices. Would definitely visit again! read more

We love the Silver Lounge and go there year round for dinner. so I was especially sad that my husband and I had our second bad experience with the food in the last month. The last week in July, his swordfish was dry and not of good quality. Two nights ago, Aug. 1st, I ordered my usual rare prime rib and it was delivered to me well done and tough. Between the dusty wooden planks, the old decor, dim atmosphere and use of Christmas lights this place looks like its in need of Robert Irvine's attention. The style only sets your expectations for the food. The food is just like you think it might be. The half rack ribs appetizer was chewy and tasted like it came from a freezer, covered in a sour barbecue sauce and canned pineapples. The drinks came in red plastic cups, and the tablecloth was plastic red checkerboard. Served with wise potatoes chips and a canned pickle spear -- the only signature thing about the "Silver" burger was that it came on a stale onion roll and with enough ketchup it became edible. It should be noted the server was polite and fast and the reason this isn't a one star review. If you're under 60 years old, or have standards about what you put in your body this might not be the place for you. read more

Please don't let the 3 stars fool you, I like this restaurant and always have. It's consistently good and just old school. Can you get yummy chowder -yes! Can you get lobster - of course. The decor is kitschy cape cod boat themed and they make it very festive at Christmas. This is a family friendly spot (placemats for kids to color) and can handle larger parties. Everyone was happy with their selections from burgers to chowder (in a bread bowl) to salads with lobster or shrimp. The menu truly has something for everyone. Great thing about visiting major tourist spots during off season is the peace & quite you get with much less people. The hard part is to find a restaurant that is open year-round, no matter the peak or off-peak season. In Cape Cod, one of the oldest and most loved restaurant by the locals (mainly the seniors) is the Silver Lounge Restaurant. They have been serving seafood, steaks, sandwiches and other comfort food to the locals and visitors alike every day since 1938. I've visited this restaurant a handful of times, and it is one of our favorite spots to visit in the Cape. The inside is rather large, with red checkered table clothes and nice comfy booth seats. They also have a bright bar with friendly bartender. They have authentic nautical artifacts everywhere, from the wall to the ceilings, it is really interesting to look around. I hear Most of them are antiques, collected over the years. For the food, it is always better to have seafood in the Cape, since they have great variety and are fresh. One thing to note - they are not into "fancy" stuff, just good, solid food without any extra bling. The food is not cheap, but you do get good, large portion and fresh seafood here. So, when you are in the Cape and looking for one of those old-fashion, no-fuss kind of place with good comfy food, check out this spot. I finally got a chance to eat here and I was impressed but I wasn't disappointed. The prices are fairly high as they give you larger servings and there are no options unless you want a lower grade piece of steak. The decor is over the top but has a saloon feeling to it if you ignore all the nautical stuff. I had the 12oz charbroiled sirloin strip and added the cooked portobella mushrooms, onions and garlic and it came with a foil wrapped bake potato for $24.95. I asked for the steak medium and because of the thickness part them middle came out medium rare but I am fine it it. The only problem I had was that they don't season their food. The steak and the veggies were all cooked as-is with no seasoning at all. It gave them a plain flavor. I added some salt and pepper and it was great after that. The side salad looked like something out of a pre made bag of salad with the addition of a single cherry tomato and chopped up celery. The butter, sour cream and thousand island dressing all came in these paper cups which don't hold up and make it nearly impossible to get all the product out of it. My friend had the bacon cheeseburger which she really liked. I can't speak for her since she ate it. Overall between the burger, steak, 2 beers and soda it came to $44 and some change. They are famous for their prime rib so I will return one Thursday and see if they live up to their boasting. read more

Gladly, we did not eat here. When you enter the waiting area, there is a framed statement of a political nature. The statement is highly partisan, aggressive and divisive. Putting up such a message is the owners choice, however, we did not appreciate this injection of divisive politics into our evening out. No meal would have been worth it. read more

6 of us tried going here for lunch today. Unfortunately the waitress and bartender ignored us while we were standing there waiting for 10 minutes. It was NOT busy and honestly all they had to do was acknowledge us and say it's gonna be a few minutes we would've stayed. But to be ignored and not even acknowledged after 10 minutes is ridiculous. A Cape Cod classic, in operation since 1956! Dark interior and somewhat crowded. Not a huge place with lots of tables crammed into two rooms. Place is always crowded, you can expect a wait. Menu was wide and varied, great selection of specials for the evening. They also have a different nightly special every day of the week Mon-Fri. Good wine selections, beers on tap and bottled were the old standbys. The wife had salmon which she enjoyed, the kids both had burgers which were fine. I had the sirloin steak that frankly was undercooked , flavorless, and full of fat ribbons I ended up cutting around. Ended up leaving about a quarter of the steak on my plate. Baked potato was fine, salad was good size but all lettuce and one tomato. Service was not good. Waitress was very slow coming around. Ver long waits to order, check on the meal after it arrived, and getting the check. In all fairness other wait staff were hustling and busting their humps. Luck of the draw.... Only seagulls like cold fries! I am giving the food a two stars and the service 0 stars. We had the swordfish, burgers and cheese sandwich. The food would have been ok, had it arrived warm. The lobster bisque was missing the lobster. Other than being slow, the server managed to bring us sprite instead of sparkling water and mixed up the sandwiches, which resulted in more waiting. A few weeks ago we stopped in at this restaurant for a work related lunch and overall we enjoyed the experience. The ambiance was great (a little dark and very rustic), but I wish that we had had the chance to dine in their train caboose. The food itself was average, but the prices were a bit high. The staff was pleasant, but on a few occasions they were absent and we needed to beg for refills on our sodas. That being said, overall the experience was good and we would dine here again. Great food and very friendly hospitable people working there. Service was pretty fast. The place is adorable, you walk in and fall in love with the interior. The caboose is original and awesome. It was very quiet but that's also because we were there super late (9pm) for dinner. Called ahead for dinner to check if they still serve because some places close earlier on the cape, but they had still people coming in around 10pm and serving a last drink. We had the flat iron steak, salmon and steak teriyaki and a side of mushrooms. All food was great, including the salads, potatoes and buns. I was only disappointed in how terribly small my sangria was. They need to look up how to serve a sangria. Not only my drink, but also my company their mixed drinks were so small it didn't go unnoticed. This while they have a regular pricing. For starters I sat in the caboose dining car which was cool. I ordered shrimp cocktail for an appetizer and they were perfect with a generous amount of cocktail sauce. For my meal I got a surf and turf. Lobster casserole and steak which were both cooked to perfection! I chose clam chowder and fries for my sides. Portions are very good too! You won't leave hungry. One of the worst meals I have had in a long time. I ordered the chicken parmigiana. The quality of the chicken was horrible. The sauce tasted like they took a can of diced tomatoes, heated it up and tossed it on to bad pasta. It had no flavor. They didn't even take the time to season the sauce. Although the atmosphere is dark and the menu is almost prehistoric ( still no fryer)... I love this place and all of its quaint charm. Come on a Saturday night and this place is bustling with live pianists and local characters. During lunch hours expect a more laid-back scene. One thing I especially LOVE about the slounge is their grill. Even the smell of it wafting outside gets me salivating, and the extra flavor it brings to burgers and reuben sandwiches is memorable. If your not a big grill fan, stick to classics like clam chowder, stuffed quahogs, and on Wednesday nights, the daily special- spaghetti and meatballs. Some years ago Bill retired and that's when the restaurant began its downfall. Very expensive now, food quality has dropped, and the service is poor. If you don't mind the smell of urine while you eat, (tracked from the rest room I guess) , small portions, high prices, and poor service then this is the place for you. A friend living on the cape brought us here years ago and we've returned many times. I specifically request to come here if no one else brings it up. Generally someone else beats me to it. Try the steak roquefort if you're a serious carnivore with a cheese fetish. I no longer eat beef but I recall this was extremely good and I've got a friend who orders nothing but. I've since gravitated to the broiled salmon. I can honestly say that it's the best I've ever had here. There's a piano player some (all?) weekends. Service is very friendly and attentive.
