Really fun spot. Brought some out of towners here for the real Second Street experience. Had a variety of beers, all good. Also had the peach sparking sangria which was delicious. We had jalapeño popper and Brussel sprouts as appetizers, which I would get again. For our main courses , burgers, meatloaf sandwich, kids chicken and an ahi tuna salad. Every meal I would order again with the glaring exception of the ahi salad. The ahi did not seem fresh at all and was a total waste of money. I ate it, since I couldn't steal someone else's meal. I did seriously consider sending it back and I absolutely NEVER do that. The only thing stopping me was l didn't want to make the rest of my party wait for them to bring me something else. I felt it though because it was a lot of money for something that was truly bad. So I did the only thing I could and had another drink. I'll come back, but the ahi isn't ever happening again. read more

I took forever to try Simmzy's because it's always packed. Stopped in for lunch on a weekday and that was apparently the time to go. No wait at all. Service was attentive. They only have beer and wine which was a bit of a bummer. The setting is good for cocktails and relaxing semi-al fresco. They do carry a good riesling though. I ordered the veggie hummus burger, and it was really good. I'm very picky with veggie burgers and don't like when they get too textural or unnatural tasting. Theirs had a great Mediterranean flavor with cumin and the chickpeas. Good textures in it too. The bun was fluffy and substantial. It was topped with pickled veg and mayo One thing I didn't like was that I ordered matchstick fries. My dining partners wanted sweet potato fries. Our waitress said that they can do half and half. They wound up mixing both of them together. The regular fries were so thin that they were completely lost in the mess. I could barely get to any regular fries and didn't want to manhandle the other people's sweet potato fries. Lame. That was annoying. They should split them side by side duh. Other than that, would return for a nice setting and pretty good modern American pub food. read more

I visited one time, not too impressed with the food selection, but the beer selection is superb. Its open seating with either small two-person tables or large picnic tables. Seating was a little crammed. They often have all doors/walls open so it can get kinda breezy (even w/heat lamps), so bring a jacket or sweater just in case. read more

This place is never empty. The decor is great and I love that the place is very open. The entire restaurant feels a little like a patio. My boyfriend and I usually come here for drinks. They have a huge selection of beer (including ones tapped on nitro-our fav). I have tried a couple things on the menu and I have not been disappointed. This place is not for those with simple taste buds. If you are looking for something simple to eat then stay clear of here. wanted to try this place with my buddy. got seated rather quickly they had the celtics vs. miami game on their TVs (not rooting for either team GO LAKERS!) this is the only place i know that has wine on tap. interesting, i must say i regret not trying their wines but i will next time. ordered the regular burger what not they have & my friend ordered the blue cheese burger and we shared the 1/2 sweet potato 1/2 regular fries. the sweet potato fries were better than the regular fries actually. overall not a bad place to try out but be warned seating is a little tight in there. read more

Simmzys is an excellent restaurant on 2nd street. The atmosphere and the ambiance is wonderful. I love that all the walls are windows that can be opened on nice days. Simmzys has an extensive craft beer selection. I was very excited to find Drake's there. We usually get the pizzas here. The arugula flatbread, Margherita or MSG (sausage on the side). The blue cheese haystack is very tasty with blue cheese, chili oil and fries. The indian spiced spinach dip was surprisingly good and a big hit with everyone. On weekends the wait times can get long so go early! read more

Love this place, it's a really fun atmosphere and the food is comforting. It's not comfort food per say, but something about the food is just unpretentious and really yummy. If I had one complaint, it would be that they pack a lot of people in, and you have very little personal space, but I guess at the same time, that's what adds to the fun atmosphere. read more

I've been driving by this place and always see a crowd outside waiting. After trying this place out today, now i know why. First off great selection of beers some were craft. I got the pineapple cider which was a nice dry not too sweet cider. We started off with the Brussel Sprout and Ahi appetizers. Both were excellent and very flavorful. The sprouts seemed as they were cooked in balsamic and bacon which brought the normally boring sprouts to the next level. All three in our group got pizza. The Spicy q, Cauliflower garlic, and the Bacon Date Pizza. All were very good. The bacon Date pizza was the stand out with the right balance of sweet and savory. We finished with the warm brownie that had a salted pretzel and ice cream on top, which was excellent. Highly recommended. read more

They have a small menu, but everything on the menu is well executed. As a starter I highly recommend their blu haystack, it's a combination of epicness and pure deliciousness!!! It's Freedom fires with some ridiculously amazing sauce, that i won't even bother attempting a description of . Their burgers are also a force to be reckoned with! Whatever their meat blend is, they are doing it right. The ingredients are high quality and it comes through in every plate they serve. Thank goodness 2nd street finally has a restaurant to be proud of. And for you beer drinkers, they have a plethora of craft beers on tap and the selections is constantly changing. Enjoy!!! read more

i love the atmosphere... it's beachy + gastropub rolled into one. the food left me wanting to come back and try more items on the menu! FISH TACOS -- i usually never get fish tacos because they are a staple in SoCal and usually taste the same at most restaurants, but simmzy makes theirs with flair! i saw the person sitting at the next table order them and it looked sooo good that i had to try them. YUP, they taste as good as they look... they add a bunch of fun toppings, but it doesn't overpower the fish. you can still taste the grilled fish with a bit of heat form the fried fresno chili rings and spiced sour cream. then you get a creaminess from avocado and a little bit of sweetness and smoked flavor from the grilled tomato salsa. lastly, you get a little tang from the pickled radish. I DEF would ORDER this AGAIN. BRUSSEL SPROUTS -- again, every restaurant in america services roasted / grilled brussel sprouts, but simmzys is a little unique in that it douse theirs with TONS of lemon. it's super LEMONY, but not bitter. they have a good balance between the oil and lemon. the flavor reminds me of the lemony potatoes at Open Sesame, but they use charred brussl sprouts instead, much healthier :) On my next visit, I'm going for the BURGER. it looked mouthwatering for sure. read more

Took off one star because some of the menu items seemed just a TAD bit pricey, but you're paying for quality ingredients I suppose...The mimosas looked puney, so I decided on a glass of sangria ($6) which was delicious and not too weak either yeeee. This place has great atmosphere, I love the open set up. The staff were nice and they would smile, so that was a plus. I ordered the margarita pizza, the flavor was mild but tasty. Also, it was a thin crust pizza, a little too thin for my taste but I enjoyed it. The Hubbs got the fish tacos, they looked bomb.com. Overall, I was happy with my dining experience. I would definitely give this place 5 stars based on their food and drink options - both spectacular. Also a great atmosphere if you're looking for a relatively loud, busy, happy scene. My only gripe is, unfortunately, the service. I waitied to go a second time before writing this review just to be sure. Both times I've been the waitress was not attentive, and didn't seem very happy to be doing her job. I understand this place can get busy, but you could have gotten another drink or two from me had you paid better attention! One of the most frustrating things to happen in a restaurant is to have an empty glass and want another drink, and have the waitress walk by without even acknowledging you - as if she's not your waitress! Sigh..I hope they can figure this one out because, as I mentioned, this place hits the mark on every other aspect. read more

Had lunch here today with a dear friend. The lunch special is a wonderful value. For under ten dollars you get your choice of Half of a sandwich, soup and salad. The sandwich was chicken,bacon and avocado with garlic aioli and was delicious. The salad was A-ok as was the soup. Service was friendly and fast. So I am torn between a 3 and 4 star. I certainly frequent this place enough to feel the obligation to finally write a review...but this place is great all across the board. The service is always awesome and the bartenders never hesitate to offer a beer recommendation followed by a sample. It does get crowded on weekend nights though, but the bar area has a pretty efficient turnaround. As far as the appetizers go, I've had the caramelized brussel sprouts and the blue cheese haystack, both of which are fantastic (the Brussels slightly more so). Their pizzas though...omg! The bacon date marscapone pizza and msg pizzas are truly inspired! I'm such a bad Jew here, haha. I've also been for brunch and the short rib has is amazing! I love anything with poached eggs. Definitely one of my favorite places to go to on 2nd street--it's crowded for a reason, people! read more

Great Sangria and an absolutely delicious Caramelized Brussels Sprouts Appetizer that I still dream about! The quality of customer service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly servers. My friend and I came here for dinner last Saturday and had their shoe string fries and MSG (mushroom, sausage, I forget what the G stood for). The reason why I forget the G is because the pizza was not memorable. The fries were decent. But then again, how does one mess up on fries? However, while all the other restaurants on 2nd street were at least an hour and a half wait, it was only 20 mins here. I will come back for drinks and the atmosphere of the restaurant (very chill and cute) but not the food. read more

This is a cute little place on 2nd Street and is very open and welcoming. For first time customers you get a huge appetizer of brussel sprouts for free. I hate those things but they were super good. Now for the food.... I ordered the margarita pizza and it looked amazing but was the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. Pure grease. I don't even know what my mom ordered but it was some type of apple soup and it was not good. Service was good but we were not fans of the food. Had the bacon bleu deluxe burger; the salty sweet of the candied bacon, combined with the just enough tanginess of the bleu cheese crumbles, on top of the perfectly seasoned patty, was nothing short of phenomenal! Also had the mixed bag of fries, with sides of garlic aioli and avocado buttermilk; HUGE fan of the avo buttermilk dip! And the sweet potato fries were delicious, but I think the shoestring fries trump 'em, and that's that I don't like potatoes all that much. read more

Had dinner last night at Simzy's with my girlfriends! It was busy, so we had to wait about 30min for a table... No worries as there are plenty of bars to visit while you wait! Great food, great beer selection and just all right service. Our server seemed annoyed that she had to "do her job" and wait tables last night. She was short with her responses, gave major attitude to all of us and acted like we were putting her out every time she came by our table. Needless to say the food out shined her "poopy" demeanor and we were able to have a nice time. Brussel sprouts were awesome, as was the ceviche, kale Caesar and date/bacon pizza. Bravo on the amazing food! Tell Hannah she needs to put on smile on that face of hers, as last night she was the only negative part of our dining experience. read more

I love this place! First off we came here for a late lunch with a party of 5, and they say is right away. It was very busy so I was surprised they didn't make us wait a few minuets. Anyway the service is very helpful and cheerful. Our server was accommodating to our needs, and was always sure we were play and filled on our drinks. It wasn't in an annoying way either which is nice. The food is AMAZING. Our table had pizza, turkey burger, and veggie bowl. I wish we took pictures of it, but we were to hungry to think too. It all had the perfect flavors. The turkey burger is a little spicy and pizza a little greasy but it was so good we didn't pay any attention to it. The veggie bowl was the best veggie bowl I've ever got. It had so many veggies and a ton of quinoa. It all came together very nicely. So go to this place any chance you get. I wish I was a local, so I could try everything because it all looked and smelled so good. read more

Brother was in town and that called for a family dinner. Our group was large so our wait was long. About 20-25 minute wait on a Saturday night. We knew it was expected as it was a weekend. We parked on the street just a couple of short blocks away. Please make sure you read the signs. We saw a lot of parking enforce personal. This is a small place, you will be sitting directly next to another group. Our waitress was super awesome. Our food came out fast and the whole ambiance was just chill and cool.
