I usually love Simmzy's - especially the one in Long Beach but we had a horrible experience with the Australian manager at this location. We had lunch here after reading about the burgers. No kidding they are good. Nice shoestring fries with a seasoned aioli sauce too. Also had the fish tacos... they put some spicy peppers inside. If you don't like spicy food, make sure to get it without the chili peppers. We also split a small salad. Cozy seating, just a couple minutes from the beach. Good service. My partner ordered the Hawaiian Tuna Poke Bowl with a Hibiscus Cider. His cider was good and refreshing. My IPA was pretty strong. Plus, there was a lot of tuna in the poke bowl. Okay so I wish I could give it like a verbal score to explain . The menu , choices , and drink menu list is a 5 for sure. Everything sounds great and the different unique drinks sound so delicious and I wanted to try every single of them. My Bloody Mary aka bloody Maria ( tequila instead) was SO good. Best Bloody Mary I've ever had because I usually don't like them and this one was super yummy. Lots of beer choices which is fun! The atmosphere and vibe of the place is a 5 and the server was very nice and talkative which made the experience better but the only reason for 4 stars is the food. I'd give that like a 3/3.5. It was just... eh okay. It sounded so good on the menu and exciting but both me and the person I was with said the same thing about each of our meals. They were just either bland, not that tasty , or like that lacking of something feeling. I'd go here again for sure for drinks and a fun time but not really a first choice of food. Sorry guys the food wasn't good. Our waiter was friendly and took care of us, so thank you for that! Hence the 3 stars! I tried three different tacos, (asada, fish & Al pastor) and all three were mediocre at best. We also ordered edamame and it was pretty gross to say the least! Every time I'm at Manhattan beach, I have always wanted to go to Simmzy's for lunch, but it is always so freaking crowded!! Finally was able to go and it lived up to my expectations. To start, the haystack fries especially with the bleu cheese and buffalo toppings are such a great starter. In terms of main courses, the chicken burger was probably one of the best bites I have had in a while. Imagine guacamole, chicken, Monterey Jack, and a brioche bun in one bite--that was seriously heaven. My friend got the Banh mi and although it is a great idea, it doesn't really taste like a Banh mi--more like a tuna Sandwhich. To give them credit, they are trying to add new things! Overall, there is always a wait but I highly suggest waiting a little if you want a filling and affordable lunch. The servers and the manager were also super nice and accommodating. I ordered some food and drinks to go. The tortilla soup was decent, but their Michelada's were unfortunately one of the worse I've had. It was really disappointing, and impossible to fix. They tasted so bitter and just simply couldn't even do more beyond a few sips. My friends felt the same way and unfortunately they had to go to waste. It was Saturday afternoon and we were feeling the hungries. After what seemed like forever trying to find a parking spot, we were fnallly able to get situated and walked a block or two down to Simmzy's via my bestie's recommendation. Simmzy's is small, perfectly situated where you can do a fair amount of peoplewatching. Unfortunately the eyecandy was minimal that afternoon so we would need to draw all our focus onto the food. Absent of ambiance, my thoughts were "the food better be good." We put our names down and were told it would be about an hour wait. Wow I'm not goign to make it an hour without food. What to do for an hour?? Well we did what any hungry group of skinny girls would do, we got "appetizers" AKA full meals at Manhattan Beach Post. It took us a little longer than an hour to finish our "appetizers" but luckily our names weren't taken off the list at Simmzy's. We still waited for about half an hour prior to being seated. Yes it is that busy and it is that crowded. OH and btw, for the place being as busy as it is, the service was still notably good. We were seated and I swear, it's as if we didn't eat full on meals just an hour and a half prior. We of course started out properly by ordering a few sangrias (red over white any day), followed by bleu cheese fries, pulled pork sammy, sausage pizza pocket, and chicken wings. Basic bar type food BUT very nicely and flavorfully done. Everything we ordered was delicious, with th eexception of the pulled pork sammy being only so so. It was a bit dry for our liking. Nonetheless, the meal as a whole was just the perfect ending to a fatty day. As we sat with our full bellies and now unbuttoned denims (we realy should have worn looser pants), we thought, we definitely need to do this more often. And so we shall. Simmzy's, we'll be back. After a stroll around the Manhattan Beach area, we stopped into Simmzy's for a beer at the bar. It sounds so typical, but the craft beers on tap are not. My guy went with the Allagash White, which is one of his favorites. While I went with the one I've never heard of, the Ommegang Scythe and Sickle. We both enjoyed our beers and left after the one. The ceviche looked amazing though and wanted to come back. Maybe next time. read more

Solid place. Always crowded and that's a good thing. Great selection of beer which is not really my deal, but I enjoy it here. Very knowledgable staff. Good wine list as well. I come for the simzy burger. Always perfectly cooked and with a great bun. Big enough to split if you want and then get the fries to share. I also love the tortilla soup, it has chicken, avocado, cheese and all sorts of good crap in there!!! Nice. I've also had good luck with the wings, delish... I've been here before and liked it for its beachy bar by the sea vibe, but today was a major disappointment. Shortly after we were seated, another group arrived. They were waited on, served and left before we got anything. Our very simple order took over 30 mins to arrive, no explanation, no apologies, no one checking to see how we were doing, or if everything was okay - especially after half a bowl of soup and cold potatoes were served. The only thing that arrived at the speed of light was the check. I get that they were busy, but I'm a long time Simmzys customer and I know they can do better than that. Popped in here twice on The last two Saturdays for a midday drinkey and some lunch. This bar was absolutely buzzing. The first time I was here we perched at the bar, ordered the fizzy sangria and a portion of haystack fries. The second time we sat at a table, ordered the sangria, haystack fries, tacos, wings and the shrimp salad to share. Holy haystack, these fries were delish. String fries, with blue cheese and a spicy buffalo dressing. They were unreal. The wings were really good also, double fried from what I could tell so they were nice and crispy. We split the shrimp salad, which when it came out I so impressed because the half salad was really large. I ended up taking the taco to go because I was full, it was pretty good when I ate it later. This has become my regular spot for sure when I am back in MB. It seems I spend a lot of time here for Sunday lunch - mostly before heading back to LAX in late afternoon. This is my favorite bar in Manhattan Beach! I became a regulars back when it opened in 2009. I have been there on all occasions: brunch, lunch, dinner, drinks, holidays, etc. I have brought friends & family and I have never had a complaint. Ok, only one, it can get crowded making the wait too long. Its one of the few areas in MB that lets you feel like you're outside, and near the ocean. Parking: the usual MB parking; circle around until you find a spot, which may take forever. Best part is the drinks & food. Things I've tried and enjoyed over the years: Ahi Tuna Salad Chicken Apple Walnut Salad Blue Cheese Haystack 15 minute Wings Grilled Fish Tacos Simmzy's Burger Spiced Vinegar Pulled Pork Panino Plus, always had fantastic service by staff. I've never had a problem here. Bonus, I've spotted a few celebrities over the years. My favorite moment was sitting in the tiny waiting area waiting for a table, next to Michael Strahan & Nicole Murphy; yep, we were sitting shoulder to shoulder. Simmzy's always hits. We LOVE this place. You can't beat the location... if you sit outside you can see the Pacific Ocean. They have great local beers & their sangria is delicious. Came here for cocktails after a day on the beach. We liked the location and the fact that there was outdoor seating. However, the cocktails left much to be desired. My boyfriend ordered a gin and tonic and it was too stiff and not refreshing at all. We asked for a side of tonic to attempt to fix it. However, it only did so much. The ice they used was very weak and diluted the drink almost immediately. The gin and tonics we make at home are so much better. I ordered the painkiller because it sounded interesting. However, it had the same weak ice that melted right away and made the drink taste very watery. Also, the drink came in a coffee mug, which looked very odd to me. I get that they probably chose the mug because it said "painkiller" on it. However, I did not like the overall vibe it created. I didn't feel like I was getting the full cocktail experience. It would have been so much better in a fancy cocktail glass with a garnish of some sort. Since my drink got diluted so quickly, I had to mix it with my finger as it didn't come with a straw. My hand got wet as a result and made the mug slip easily out of my hand. Half my drink came pouring down onto the table and splashed all over my legs. We were hungry as it was almost dinnertime but decided to just pay for our drinks and get food elsewhere. We didn't want to continue with the bad experience. read more

I've had Simmzy's before. This is not a knock on the food. My husband and I just left the restaurant about 30 minutes ago, and we were incredibly upset and disappointed with the quality of service. It took about about an hour for us to get our food while everyone around us who came after, was already eating. The kitchen messed up our food order, not once, but TWICE. No modifications on the order either; we ordered their Simmzy's Chilaquiles and breakfast burrito. Although the server apologized profusely, we ended up leaving the restaurant with two cups of coffee in our bellies and a bad taste in our mouths. I will not go to this location or more than likely ever dine at a Simmzy's restaurant again because this was, by far, the worst dining experience we've ever had. read more

So I've been to this place a few times already and I will see it depends on the crew When it comes to the quality of service I did notice that one of the managers had a really nasty attitude and acted like posting his name on Yelp was a problem and I didn't like that because everyone knows Yelp reviews are personal I guess. One time my server was the light skin female with the curly hair I think her name is Gina and this time my server was JayJay was absolutely amazing super helpful and attentive and had no problem with posting his name on yelp and was wondering if I was going to give you one star because he wants to see what the managers response would be but I'm honestly only giving this place for size because the food is out of this world fantastic. Both my visits were up to par and I'll definitely be back but hopefully the location on El Segundo (lil simmzys). One thing I thought was really cool is that I checked in when my food was delivered and they received The photo and comments right away. So a day after I left my 2nd review the manager sent me a polite heartfelt message that now has convinced me this business is 5 star worthy and I will be back for another margarita this week after a run ! Was hesitant to come here because it was so crowded but the hostess was very nice and was able to seat us quickly! The menu has a a variety of options and so many beers on taps! We enjoyed the nachos, fries and burgers and loved everything! The sweet potato fries are to die for. We hear and read that they have great deals for brunch and on weeknights so definitely check this place out. Ok.... first restaurant we had been to since Covid hit !!! It was Father's Day and we took a chance on a new spot, completely out of our area. So glad we did! Everyone from the host to the waiter, to those bussing the tables were phenomenal! Seth was our waiter and he was FANTASTIC! Kind, patient, and informative! Oh and the food.... oh the BEST burgers!! And let me tell you I'm a snob! And I'm super picky! It was all around 10 out of 10 with the food, service, and location! The ocean breeze and the little town was a great change from our city! Regarding their safety approach with Covid... That was impressive! Every staff member had a mask and gloves on, and they did not allow the space to get over crowded. All the tables are 6ft apart! Seth was on top of explaining to us the process of how one person will take our order, and for safety purposes , another will bring our food out, and yet another person would remove the used dishes off the table! Now that is what I call well planned and safe! I felt so comfortable being out at a restaurant for the first time since February! Not to mention Seth went out of his way to celebrate my daughter because we mentioned she had a birthday at the beginning of the year and pandemic did not allow for her to celebrate turning 21!! It was just absolutely wonderful to experience a meal At Simmzy's!! A must try! My only tiny constructive criticism was the restroom... We stopped in for dinner, Tuesday night 6pm, the menu looked good for keto options and reviews were good. The cocktail options were ALL premixed, staff refuses to make anything off menu. Whatever, we ordered the least sugary drinks we could find. Music was LOUD, could t hear my partner seated next to me at the bar, wait staff had to yell to take the order. The place was packed with more than 5 servers busily working, but had to flag down our server more than 5 times for things as simple as water or cutlery. Waitstaff were constantly LOUDLY discussing who would get the next seated table/person at the bar... not a lot of coordination or tact with staff. Appetizer (cilantro lime chicken skewers) came out ice cold after 45 min. Still waiting on the lettuce wrapped tacos we ordered... let's hope it gets better from here ‍ Update: it did NOT get better!!! Every single taco was ICE cold, we ordered 5.
