Everything hit the spot. This poppin' little cafe 2 blocks from the Manhattan Beach pier hits all the right spots and puts a little splash of happiness in your life. My experience was fantastic but I have to be honest and say the placement of our table deserves partial credit. Right on the corner with sun and shade seats we had great people watching angles as well as plenty of room. Our server was attentive to our needs, our drinks never went empty, our orders came out right and she had some sweet piercings. The shrimp cakes were on POINT! Panko crusted with a basil aioli, arugula, finely sliced Fuji apples, pickled red onion and orange vin...awesome. I was casually walking in manhattan beach when I stumbled upon Simmzy's. It's right near the beach(you can see it clearly in the distance). Due to the Pandemic there is no dine-in. However, my cousin and I still got drinks. We weren't sure what we wanted so Brandon and Seth kindly helped us figure out we wanted to try their sangria. Best burger in my life! Juicy, pink in the center, flavorful. Four days have past since I've been here and I can't wait until the next Sangria night. Beats the other Burger joints in the area. 1. I'm a fan of the fish tacos here, and the dish is just filling enough to not need a bunch of extra sides. The sangria, on the other hand, could be vastly improved. Besides the wait, this is a great place for brunch and people watching. The staff was friendly and accommodating, letting us wait for a table by the railing so we could watch my dogs and tie them to the banister. One of the girls kept trying to bring them some water in a to-go box as well. Even after my boy kept knocking it over, she would patiently bring out another. My problem with this place is pretty much my problem with all restaurants in excellent locations. They rely on their locations/views to serve overpriced and underwhelming food. I came here on a Saturday because we were already at the beach. We ordered the fries (both French and sweet potato) and I got the tuna tartar dish. The fries were fine but overly greasy. Ventured back to Simmzy's last week (the night before I went to Tin Bistro, which is owned by the same people!) and had a much better experience. Started off with one each of the bruschetta and I have to say, this has got to be one of the best items on their menu. The first topping was bacon, cream cheese, and dates. So yummy! The second topping was their tomato splat (same thing they put on their burgers) and goat cheese. It tasted like spaghetti on bread. How great is that? I asked our waiter (I think his name was David) if he preferred The Brat or the Vinegar Pulled Pork Panino. Apparently those were his two favorites from the menu, so I put him in a tough spot. He ended up suggesting the Panino, which is what I ordered. It was good -- I could definitely detect the vinegar taste in the pulled pork and it was very different from the pulled pork I'd eaten in Alabama a week before. It was just as busy as the first time I came, so the recession doesn't seem to be hurting them any. After this experience I'm definitely adding Simmzy's to the restaurant rotation. I have heard of this place ever since I first moved to the South Bay, but it wasn't until last night that I finally tried it. First off, they immediately accommodated our party of 3 without a reservation on Valentines day... say What?! While busy, the service was still very quick and served up a very relaxed and social atmosphere. I kept it simple with their Simmzy burger and was not disappointed. They have an excellent selection of craft beers and wine. Not to mention that they make a fantastic burger. I'm really glad they are opening a sister restaurant in Venice which is a lot more convenient to go to. If you're looking for some Pliny they usually have it in house, this place is a bit smaller then I would like..but there are a lot of cool restaurants and bars around it as well. The burgers and fries go together very nicely with the variety of beers to choose from which of course is always a plus. All in all there is something for everyone here and you can't beat that right? When I checked out a nearby place a few days earlier both the bartender and the guy next to me at the bar said I should try Simmzy's. I had passed by it when I ended up at the other place and noticed it was pretty busy, so I decided to give it a try before getting back on the road to head home. It is a Small place about 15 tables (depending on the size of the parties) and about 11 bar seats. But it was busy. All the bar stools were quickly snapped up every time they were vacated and there was a line out the door waiting for a table on a Wednesday evening. The menu was small as well And truth be told I found myself not really drawn in by anything. Oh well, I went with an old reliable. I ordered the burger. It was ok. Pretty big and juicy. Great place for food and drinks by the beach! The place is rather small and was packed when we arrived on a Sunday around 5:30PM. We wrote our name on the chalkboard and was looking at the menu and about to get a drink from the bar when our name was called. The wait was less than 10 minutes. The tables are rather cramped and we were seated next to a party of 3 at a table meant for 2. It was rather annoying because the 3rd person had no regard for personal space and I felt rather uncomfortable... Moving on, we looked over the menu and I ordered the white sangria with the Simmzy's burger and haystack fries. I was very impressed with the burger, it was super juicy and flavorful. The other day eating a late lunch with my boyfriend here i looked up from my amazing fish tacos and said... "I think this is my favorite restaurant" and he whole heatedly agreed! When I lived in SoCal this was one of my regular lunch spots and frequent dinner destinations. Does it have a big menu, well the beer menu has more choices than the food one so guess it depends on how you define big and which menu you are most interested in. That said Simmzy's is always solid and predictable. I have never had a bad meal here, but oh how I miss the "Not Your Mamma's" Tuna Sandwich, which Simmzy's previously shared with Tin Roof (@ MB Village) - that sandwich is the stuff other tuna sandwiches dream of being. If only Simmzy's would bring back that sandwich I might actually give this place 5 stars. Also, why doesn't the MB location do the weekday lunch special - the Long Beach location has this option and it is a great one. One other comment / complaint: Why in the hell did they take the Caesar Salad off the menu?? This was the same one as Tin Roof. One of the best versions in my book. No, they replaced it with a kale caesar - sorry to get technical but kale does not belong with caesar dressing! I have nothing against kale, other than it is seems to be the current food trend that every restaurant feels a need to serve. The only thing I can say to the owners and management of Simmzy's is: when burgers and beer are your mainstay and primary attraction why do you feel the need to serve "superfoods" such as kale? After all, this is Southern CA not the South! When I lived in Atlanta years ago kale and collard greens were everywhere; who would have thought that a food trend would move from the deep South to the rest of the country. Some things to know before going to Simmzy's: - During the summer this place is packed beyond belief, so come early or expect to wait a LONG time. - No reservations, but you can put your name on the chalkboard and walk around; they are pretty good about how long your wait will be. But remember, if you are not there when your name is called then you lose. - You used to be able to order 1/2 of a salad - not sure if this is allowed with its kale brethren. I love Simmzy's!! This is a fun, small beach eatery w/an open store front. Located in the center of Downtown Manhattan Beach, a block off the water, next to Starbucks. Simmzy's does not have a parking lot, however, DTMB has parking meters, free lots, as well as parking structures. Parking isn't the easiest, especially on the weekends or holidays. Fair warning. Meters take cards. This place is a gold-mine and there ALWAYS seems to be a wait. Long waits though on weekends, essentially because the place is really small & has consistently delicious product. There is a bar area with about 10 stools. Super tight space, but fun & cozy. This is a beer/wine establishment and honestly, they have a killer rotating beer list, and terrific wine selections. Local breweries to national brand names. Sometimes my friends & I pop in just for a drink before hitting the beach. Their menu is small, just like the space. It is American fare & there seems to be something on the menu for all. My absolute favorite item & pretty much, favorite salad EVER, on this menu is the Chicken, Apple, Walnut Salad. I HATE hot meat/fish on a fresh salad cuz it withers the lettuce. But not Simmzy's. The Chicken is chilled, and cut in huge chunks, tossed in a dijon vinaigrette with fresh lettuce, apples, seasoned goat cheese, and candied walnuts. It is beyond fresh, loaded with flavor, & Simmzy's does not skimp you out of any ingredients. Ya know that feeling when you eat a salad & still feel hungry? It doesn't happen to this one. Best. Salad. EVER. Shoestring fries & Sweet Potato fry mix is another fave. The garlic aioli is so yumm. I always ask for BBQ sauce w/my sweet potato fries- if you haven't tried, you should. A friend that was with us, told us to try the Sangria, heir signature drink. I'll admit it was tasty - not overly sweet like some sangrias but I wasn't in the mood for it so my friend and I ended up walking to another bar for the blood mary while our husbands waited the 65 minutes for the table. Don't get me wrong, they had good beers on tap and prob a nice wine list but I was so in the mood for the blood mary I just didn't want anything else. It really pissed me off the bartender refused to make one for me. And he was rude about it. I seriously think he just didn't feel like mixing a drink. To me, this is bad service. I don't care how busy you are or what your reputation is - you should make a drink that the customer orders. Especially considering customers have to wait 60 to 90 minutes or more for a table! Just sayin.... Even with the shitty service, I will say the food is decent. We started with the blue cheese and sweet potato fries. Both fabulous. Then the much talked about veggie burger. It was a very good burger, the buns are amazing and the toppings perfect. But for the wait and the fact they refused to make me a Bloody Mary, I most likely wouldn't bother going back here. I've tried to come here a few times, but let's be honest, it's always packed, and I'm not always the most patient person. Finally came on a Monday night and it was only a 20 min wait. It's pretty loud in here. If you're lucky (and we were) you'll be seated closer to the open front versus in the back. Super friendly waitress helped us throughout, and even the guys at the neighboring table (who are admitted regulars) gave us some pointers. There's an extensive beer selection which changes regularly, and while beer isn't usually my thing, there was still something for me. I had the fish tacos, which are made with grilled fish. We all know fried fish tacos are amazeballs, but the grilled ones can be hit and miss. These were definitely a hit. Two large tacos, stuffed with plenty of rock cod, tomato salsa, generous portion of avocado, and these thin slices of fresno chiles, which added a kick without being overpowering. I don't know if I could order something else if I went back--they were that good. It definitely stayed busy. When the two tops on either side of us opened up, the waitress came by and asked if we'd move to one side or the other (our choice) to help them pull together a four top for a waiting party... she comped our drinks as a thank you. Their craft beer selection has some excellent choices. Service is usually good. It is a small location, like most MB locales but I'm willing to live with it. This place has that delicious smokey-smell that wafts as you walk in.... The restaurant is not huge, but their open-air patio + restaurant + bar space made the space fluid and not cramped. There isn't seating for a ton of folks, but if you're patient you should be able to grab a spot after indulging in a cocktail or two. Speaking of cocktails... they have a sangria that came highly recommended. I enjoyed the red sangria - fruity, sweet but not overly sweet, and loaded with what seemed to be peach schnapps soaked apple slices. YUM. Those little slices packed a punch! Split most of the appetizers with our group but the one that stood out was the Poke bowl. I would have had that just as a normal dinner item, but they had it as an app. Why not? The nachos were loaded but not so much that the chips were soggy 5 minutes after they arrived at the table. Good value there for a larger group. When we were ordering it felt that the waitress was in a rush when taking our order and I couldn't completely tell my full order so I didn't order everything we had wanted. The quinoa vegetable bowl was aromatic and flavorful, quite pretty - and very satisfying. The trip-tip sandwich was disappointing on many levels. Very little beef, and not good quality...just small dry brownish gray-ish chunks on top of non-descript barbecue sauce (whether you want it or not - I asked for not, but there it was). The meager helping of meat was topped with a few strands of coleslaw. The pickles were tasty, but the slaw dressing tasted nothing like the horseradish that was listed on the menu. Not worth $14.75. Will was the greatest server. He made us laugh and feel so comfortable! We will definitely be back. Highly recommend!!

Their food is always amazing, wasn't our first time there. However looks like place operating without a manager and servers are not treating clients the way they should be. We kindly asked for a heater 2 times from 1 server and 1 from another, kept saying we will take care of other clients and they will do it but nothing. Non of the servers came to check on us if we needed anything extra. Terrible attitude.. Reason for this review to let business owners know what is going on. read more

The pork tacos are very good, the meat is tender and the tortillas are of flour but tasty(I prefer corn) also the drinks are decent and the fries are good. I would recommend the steak and salad. read more

Updated 7/20/2020: I gave them one star based on my review below. I have to say Barry the owner/GM reached out to me to see if he could make things right. I salute him for being a stand up guy. I might not get a chance to come back, but his honorable effort is 5 stars in my book! Kudos So I went here with a friend who lives in Manhattan based on her recommendation. So she ordered a ahi salad that only had 3 measly pieces pieces and no dressing (she had to request it since they put none on it) strike one. I ordered the "billionaire burger" she was halfway through her salad before my hamburger showed up. The burger was dry and the fries were actually cold! I had asked for ranch too that never came. So the server agreed about the fries, and put in order for replacements. By the time my fries showed up I had already choked down the dry burger. I only ate it cause I was absolutely famished. The only positive is the fries that came out were hot and tasty. So $65 later I had the bill for the most unsatisfying meal I've had in years. My friend has eaten here on a regular basis and apologized to me for how bad it was. I would not recommend this place. Maybe it was a bad day or the COVID lay-off/hiring waiters, cooks might have been a issue. I'm not saying don't go. I don't like leaving bad reviews, I just suggest caution on the issues I mentioned.
