A few friends and I were able to snag a table for 6 easily during a weekday without reservations so that was an automatic win for us. After getting seated, our waitress kindly answered all of our questions and made a few recommendations based on our group size. We followed her lead and loved everything we ordered, but the absolute stand outs for us in order of our favorites was the bread, gnocchi, butter lettuce, and mussels. I'm a carb girl, so I almost always love bread, but there was something extra special about theirs. My entire group agreed that it was hard to put down. We tried to only nibble at it to save our appetite for the main courses, but quickly inhaled the pillowy dough and agreed it was a highlight. Fantastic food and service!! We dropped in on a Sunday night and immediately got seated. The ambience was lovely -- warm, upscale, but not over the top. Very comfortable! Had a great dinner tonight at the bar - there were no available reservations so we got there early and the entire bar was open for walk-ins. Cocktails were delicious, the wine list was extensive and approachable for bottles. Everything we had was exactly what we wanted. The Dungeness crab porridge is YUM, as was the étouffée and little gems salad. Service at the bar was timely and friendly. I've been hearing about this place, so finally took myself out on a a Tuesday night. It was busy and buzzing. I sat at the bar. I love how they have house wine on tap. I had white which was tasty & ordered the muscles. The flavor was delicious although the muscles themselves were a little skimpy. (considering this is a seafood restaurant, they should have better quality muscles), I like how they serve them with a couple fingerling potatoes, and some really good sourdough bread. I really wanted to love this place but my partner and I saw a rat or large mouse in the dining area a couple weeks ago during our anniversary dinner. Management attended to us very quickly and gave us credit towards our dinner. That evening into the next day though, we had symptoms of food poisoning. To be fair, we did order the captain's platter so that may or may not have been related to the rodent issue or just bad luck. Overall management has been very responsive and I just hope the issue is taken seriously. Not sure we'll be back anytime soon though. read more

I had a terrible experience with their customer service. I called to let them know I had a work emergency (I had to make an urgent report of child abuse) and would be late to my reservation and asked if I could move the reservation back. They said they didn't have anything until 8:30pm and that I was lucky and "just barely" missed their policy being instituted this weekend for a $35 cancelation fee for late cancelations. I understand this policy but as a business owner myself I also understand emergencies happen and a little kindness and understanding goes a long way. I have never been spoken to so rudely by any restaurant ever. Please be aware of this policy and their poor customer service. read more

My friend and I came to celebrate a life event, and we had a lovely time. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and helped us to pick our beverages - my friend went with cocktail, and I went with wine. I quite like the wine list. For food, we got the seafood and lobster terrine to start. I love terrine and would always want to try it. It was fresh tasting and I liked eating the pickles with it. The "skin"/wrap of the terrine was not easy to cut, so the bites were slightly inconsistent with that element. We also each got a dumpling and tried the fish appetizer. The dumpling was full of umami and scrumptious. The fish dish was bright and full of a mixture of flavors that blended well. For entree, we got the fried chicken (two pieces) with the kimchi sauce and collard greens. The fried chicken was great - good batter and juicy meat, though I can't say it's better than many others I've had. The fish entree - black cod - was excellent - cooked just right with a yummy sauce. We got a chocolate dessert, which was a tad too dense and heavy for us. I like the decor and space, though I would say it was a bit too loud, but that may have been just the table next to us for that evening. read more

The food is elevated, inventive, and delicious. The perfectly cooked black cod had a crispy skin served on a flavorful sauce of vegetables. The steak also perfectly cooked came with a delicious Bernaise sauce and crispy fries. We asked for ketchup and it was a delicious housemde ketchup-- not sugar sweet ---but tangy and nuanced. The fried chicken is the best I've ever had. Desserts were delicious from the ice cream to the chocolate cake. The mint chocolate chip ice cream is a stand out the mint tasting like it came straight from the garden. Warm friendly highly informed about the food service. The ambience and the really interesting bathrooms with video of waves rolling in are delightful. And it's next to Walden Pond books which makes for a great evening. My wife and I went here for our anniversary on the recommendation of a chef friend of ours and it did not disappoint! Nicky, our server was terrific overall and recommended a yummy gazpacho, everything was delicious, the atmosphere was comfortable, not too loud. I've been excited to check out the successor restaurant to Sister, and Sirene does not disappoint. I went in the morning for a coffee and pastry, and also went in the evening for dinner. The interior vibe is similar to Sister (not that it needed much changing) and the espresso and pastry choices were all delicious. For dinner I dined at the bar and had the sourdough loaf and the fried chicken for dinner. Fried chicken is well done and comes with a medley of tasty sides. Which brings me to the worst part. I got sick off of the Oysters! I only ordered 3. The first 2 were fine, tasted fresh, but the last one,as soon as it went down, I noticed something was off... I said to myself it wasn't fresh ( unfortunately It had already gone down)... sure enough I ended up throwing up at the theater later on. I notice quite a few of the reviews mention their seafood dishes tasted weird or dirty. If you're going to present yourself as a Seafood restaurant, and especially upscale, you'd better know how to handle and prepare it. Whoever is running this place needs to figure stuff out and start over. I was so looking forward to trying it, plus it's walking distance. But I'll just walk on by from now on. My friend had the fish and chips. We had the oysters as well. The reason for the 3 stars is that there were just a lot of little things that were off. The server tried to remember our order by memory and messed multiple things up. We were only two people. She had to come back once to the table to remember the order and still forgot to bring us the bread we ordered (and then tried to charge us for it). Oysters are now $5 a piece. Maybe that is the new normal but that seems higher than near by places. The gnocchi was good but it was swimming in sauce, almost felt like a soup. Great taste but super rich. The portion sizes were great! Was in and out in less than an hour. The service was intentional and consistent. The lady who appeared to be an owner, let me taste the wine before pouring an entire glass. Every server was kind and worked very smoothly. Nothing seemed rushed or out of place. We have been for dinner at Sirene once, and were pleased -- the service in particular was excellent. But this review is primarily for the morning cafe, which is an absolute gem. The baristas are lovely, the drinks are good, the pastries and setting (indoors and outdoors, whether you're reading a book alone or meeting a friend to catch up) are OUT OF THIS WORLD. The cinnamon roll and egg croissant are my top favorites and I will happily eat them for days in a row, but everything is tasty. Oh -- and a shout out for having three different types of water (still, cold still, and sparkling) on tap for folks to help themselves to. Elevated and functional.
