This review will be short & simple: This was our second attempt on trying this new buffet joint because the first time, the line was extremely long. The second time, the line was still long but we decided to wait and the line actually died down quickly. I believe we came in on a Saturday where they have the additional meat options in the buffet. The service was surprisingly good like our drinks were always filled, our dirty plates were always cleaned off the table, and the waitress was always in sight. The food was decent- I was expecting there to be more options. The foot itself that they served was pretty good like the salad bar was always fresh, their soups were good, and their fried chicken (which seemed to be the most popular) was always filled when it was getting low. I give it a 4 star because I do feel like there needs to be more than just 3 bars- salad, main dishes, and dessert. But overall, I enjoyed it. Customer service was good, seemed like the restaurant stayed clean, and food was always replenished. read more

Typical buffet food. Nothing too fancy, so if its 5 star dining you want go elsewhere. Good bang for your buck and nice variety. The cashier was rude and seemed to hate her job, otherwise it wasn't that bad of a visit. read more

My wife and I were on our way to Branson and we're craving a steak. We didn't want to spend an arm and a leg but we're wanting something decent. This place hit the nail on the head! It's clean that's why it has 2 stars. When I order a 30 dollar steak, I have expectations. Prime cut, cooked the way I like it, etc. but come on. It comes out rare when asked for medium rare, my buddy ordered medium rare and he got medium. It's not hard, but on a 30 dollar steak they don't even cook it with salt or pepper. Just from fridge to grill. No salt, no pepper, come on. 30 dollar steak and the sausage at the buffet is better than it. Don't give this place your money. Just grab a steak from Walmart and grill it yourself. Same quality of meat and at least you can cook it how you like it. read more

I remember coming here all the time when we first moved to rolla in 2007, it was our favorite place to come. Eventually it turned into an eh restaurant so we come to check out the new building and see how things were. I'd say it's definitely a LOT better than what it used to be. The new building helped out so much. The food was alright nothing fancy or to die for. Next time we'll most certainly try out the steaks rather than the buffet. This place was sure packed so if you have packed place I'd let it die down for a couple weeks before going. read more

Ah, the roadside buffet. My brother-in-law demanded a steak during our 700 mile excursion. It was his birthday, and of course we wouldn't deny him. Sirloin Stockade to the rescue. Now, SS should be measured on its merits. First, they're charging $7.99 for an all you can eat buffet. If you've been to the grocery store recently, do a little math. They're maintaining a restaurant, paying waitstaff and cooks, and preparing food: for $7.99. Clearly, something has to give, and of course, it's the food. But, IT'S $7.99!!!!! There were a few nice items. Spinach and lettuce greens, and the salad bar in general had some fresh clean produce. That's a nice value when a fresh salad can be built for little more than the price of a fast food combo. Add to that some really nice fried chicken, and you've got a meal. Pasta dishes and cold salads also looked pretty good. But, that's the end of the good news. Sliced turkey tasted like a brick thawed from a freezer whence it resided for many moons. Broccoli looked dreadful. Most warm/hot vegetables inedible by appearance alone. Strange garlic instant potatoes. The garlic was just an overabundance of garlic powder dumped in the instant mix. Finally, the ice cream machine certainly was a nice treat. The restaurant is reasonably cheery, in good condition, kept clean with friendly service. I have no idea how they make money. SS could stand to improve. If the salad bar can be decent, there's no reason the cooked vegetables can't also shine. Patrons are just going to leave it on the plate, might as well make it good enough so they eat it. I don't like cheap food. But, it still amazes me when a restaurant is able to charge basement prices for oodles of prepared food, and some of it be edible. SS does that. I'm giving it 4 stars on it's better days and 2 stars on it's terrible days for an average of 3. Quick Tip: Go early for lunch and early for dinner for the freshest offerings, it makes a huge difference. Sometimes things aren't as clean as they should be, for one. That's kind of weird. This place really needs to hire a couple employees who REALLY like to clean because dishes, counters, chairs (EEK) and tables have all been kind of filthy intermittently. The staff is, however, pretty friendly and those who served our table have always been helpful. The food is very hit or miss and seems to depend even more greatly on timing than some buffets. I'd prefer if they reduced their dishes by half and just made those much better. Things we love: The fried chicken when it's fresh and hot. The mashed potatoes which taste almost home-made. The banana bread on the dessert bar. Broccoli if it's fresh, but usually gets green-grey after sitting for too long. Pot roasts, sometimes the pasta dishes are nice, there's usually one good thing in the Kevin's specials. Broccoli salad in the salad bar, fresh fruit on the salad bar. The steaks are usually made to order and are decent. We went once on All You Can Eat Steak night and it was horrible. I never order it well done, always medium well because the well has come out charry before. Seems rather hit or miss. This is all "country" style food and could use a more modern upgrade, especially on their sides. However, if you're in the mood for that kind of thing, you'll always find something pretty tasty. When we go, we always use a couple different dishes to "make" something different. Like taking the roast beef and shredding it lightly, then stirring in a little BBQ and using the taco bar part of the salad bar to make delicious shredded beef nachos! read more

This is a standard buffet style steak house. We had the buffet for lunch. The salad bar contained the usual suspects with taco shell bowls available for tostadas. The hot counter had pot roast, fish and some sides. They recently opened a third counter for "ballpark favorites" which included bbq pork sliders, hot dogs and tater tots. The dessert bar had decent pies and cakes. This did not meet the standards of other chains with similar styles. It works out great for the tour buses that pull up but for smaller groups I would find another place. read more

Buffet style food. It's a typical buffet but better than Golden Corral in my opinion. I had minestrone soup, baked fish, catfish and broccoli salad. I can honestly say I enjoyed everything I ate. I'm going to throw the Sirloin Stockade a bone. I'm not sure what people are expecting when they show up but I travel for work and this place is good. I've been to all the area steakhouse/BBG in the area and this place is WAY better. The restaurant burned down a while back, and before that it was not going in a good direction. The restaurant is now a well done all new location and delivers what's advertised. A hearty buffet (this IS Rolla not a metropolis)that is clean, full of food and fresh, with good steak. The selection is narrow for a reason, but we had several offerings in our group and it all was good. The steaks are good and ours were perfectly cooked. The additional proteins on the buffet included 2 types of Chicken, smoked sausage, excellent dry rub ribs and the catfish everyone talks about is quite good. Come early or late because it can get busy and being a small town restaurant it doesn't have a massive capacity. We went at 7 pm and although mostly full it was quite comfortable and the service was spot on (don't forget it's a buffet). Try it, you'll go back for sure. read more

This is the first time I have been to the restaurant since the fire destroyed it nearly a year ago. I was dissatisfied with the food and the service. The prices were very much higher than the old restaurant. The buffet is smaller than before and there was not any beef on the buffet as previous buffet. Some food was not as hot as probably should have been. My grandson wanted steak with buffet but had to pay for steak and buffet which used to be pay for steak and buffet included. Ice cream machine is was not working. And only one type pie was out. Salad bar was nice but a little high for this short person to reach the farthest serving dish. The layout is much the same as the old but the garden room is no longer so there is no steps down and that is a good thing. I may give them a try again. But as of right now I do NOT want to go there again. USE TO BE MY FAVORITE. My little granddaughter said the macaroni and cheese tasted like water! read more

But they kept it fresh. Nothing looked as if it had been sitting all day. They offer complimentary cups of coffee and baked potatoes. My expectations were low given the modest ratings but the truth is the food here was of very good quality prepared homestyle. Today was Thanksgiving and as we were on the road driving cross-country we enjoyed a very, very good turkey dinner with all the fixins along with fried and rotisserie chicken, catfish, dumplings, and everything else they had! The price was an incredible $13 and the long line took no time at all. Aw-ful!!!! We came in today after church and it wasn't as busy as it has been the few times I was here before. The spoon I grabbed had food on it. The service was ok besides the fact that she brought half our drinks and then forgot to bring my parents. Food. They had plenty of food and was only out of a few things. Their pot roast was almost grisle. The steak I got from the chef was suppose to be well done. I brought it back to the table and as soon as I put my fork in it blood started oozing out. Yuck! My dad went back and asked for a medium well for himself and it literally looked like the guy must of flipped it a few times because 80% was rare. The beef brisket was decent minus the hard ends were like chewing on jerky. The Mac and cheese was super runny. I ended up getting about half of the sauce all over my daughter. Awful by today's standards. A trip back into the 1980's both in decour and the same mediocre food that was common and acceptable at cheap steakhouse back then. Amazingly it was packed -- I guess the feeding trough mentality. Plentiful cheap breaded starches, fried foods, all low grade mass food service produced. Steaks not great, but all you can eat. Sirloin Stockade has to be one of the worst places I've ever eaten in my life - - or at least in recent years. My partner and I had such a bad experience there is that it made me rethink the validity of any Yelp reviews or fellow reviewers - at least in small towns like Rolla. Sirloin Stockade was extremely crowded when my partner and I attended there for dinner recently. Although the establishment was crowded, our server was attentive to our beverage needs. Since this is a buffet restaurant, we served ourselves. Although our waitress said that the restaurant had been recently remodeled, it looked the same to me as I remember from college days in the early 1980s . And while this trip down memory lane was interesting, sadly the food was the same as served in the 1980s at similar low priced steak house establishments, plentiful, primarily starches and very basic, bland , overcooked vegetables with no seasoning. The vegetables appeared to either be canned, frozen and boiled or perhaps from large food service packs. As I remember, are vegetable choices included green beans with no seasoning, cauliflower with no seasoning, and maybe carrots or corn. There was a nacho cheese sauce next to the cauliflower which clearly came from a can. Steaks consisted of cheap pieces of meat which were supposedly grilled to order, but from which the griller pulled based on the level of cooking desired. My medium steak was tough and overcooked in each of my two servings. The gigantic whole mushrooms at the grill station were tasty but clearly boiled or canNed. The smoked sausage was tasty. The freshly smoked chicken was excellent. Meat offerings on the food bar included passable meatloaf (clearly from a food-service supplier), mass produced baked chicken, taco meat, dried ups steak tips in tasteless gravy. The country fied fish clearly came from a food-service supplier and was barely passable. The bread shrimp was passable but very typical of the 1980s with no additional flavoring and I did not try the baked salmon. Salad bar offerings consisted of iceberg lettuce, various toppings typical www of 1980s steakhouse restaurants, various pasta salads and potato salads -- none of which I bet were homemade. The salad bar included canned beets, some chopped raw veggies and various mass-produced dressing. All in all well below the current standards of Ryans, Old Country Buffet or Golden Corral. The deserts were all clearly mass-produced and I personally saw the desert bar attendant removing pies from boxes with the same label as some of the budget brands commonly found in grocery stores . read more

Steak was good but unfortunately somewhat dry. They should make steaks to order instead keeping them on the grill during non-rush times. Food was mostly good although some stale foods were present, such as the wings and some desert choices. Service was amazing and friendly, constantly asking how everything is and if we needed refills or assistance. Cleanliness was somewhat lacking, lots of crumbs and few food splotches on the floor, and crumbs were in between the bench cushions. The food wasn't really dazzling, but overall it tasted good. If I could give it zero stars I would. I'd heard about the place on the radio many times and finally went. All I can say is YUCK! The restrooms were disgusting. Feces covered toilet paper on the floors, No paper towels, etc. There was food all over the floors by the buffets. We watched a waitress sweep under and around tables but couldn't be bothered to sweep the messes by the buffets. Unacceptable. The food was dismal at best as well. We won't be returning. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We recently moved to the area and hadn't seen a Sirloin Stockade in probably 20 years. We decided to try it for a bit of nostalgia. The good- My husband got the ribeye, my son and I just the buffet. There were many options and everything was very good. The bad- The interior was pretty run down and the floors weren't very clean. It was Friday dinner rush and the place was pretty full. I don't know if that explained the floors. When we were almost ready to leave, we heard the waitress offer another table baked potatoes. They were not offered to us. It would have been nice to know we had that option. read more

Not worth eating here. Food is below average, and I would compare the quality to a school cafeteria. It is a cheap buffet, $11 or something, but I would rather pay double that price for better food. Simply love this place. No where in Rolla will you get more bang for your buck along with great food and excellent service. I eat lunch here at least 4 times a week. The food is great and all that I can eat and what I pay isn't more more than what I would pay at any fast food place. What more can I ask for. However I wouldn't call it a date place because it is usually very busy along with families with kids. Doesn't make for that cozy chat with that special someone. The steak was pretty tasty, but nothing to write home about. They cooked it exactly how I liked it. It had flavor. And I really actually enjoyed it. Sirloin Stockade is like Golden Corral, but with a very limited buffet. It's pretty "All America good ol home cookin". Salad bar was good.
