I am so bummed by my experience here because the food was so good. I have Celiac and ordered a gluten free item for dinner. It was so good! I woke up the next morning feeling not great but didn't connect that to my meal initially. I went to eat leftovers and found pieces of large noodle that contain wheat in my food (their small noodles are gluten free). I really hope my experience was a one off because other reviews were good, which is why I tried this place in the first place. read more

I visited this great new place a couple weeks ago. It was very busy. Order your food at the counter and sit down style dining. But we were waiting for a friend, so we sat down first and the owner came and took our order at the table. They took very good care of us, and the atmosphere was awesome. SO GOOD!!! Had the Panang curry spice level 3 and it was sooooooo good. The spice was perfect, not too hot. Also tried the chicken pad Thai and that was great! No spice because my husband's a baby lol so in the future I'd probably get it with either spice level 1 or 2, but the flavor was great! Also got the fresh rolls and they were great. First time we went it was busy, so I understood waiting for our food. I get it's a suburb location, so I expected higher prices. However, the quality, flavor and experience does not compare to a hole-in-a-wall Thai restaurant. That being said, the restaurant looks nice,and the staff were nice. Giving it 3 stars only because the food is good. Sucks when a restaurant's food is good but the front workers aren't that great. They seem to need more training unless that's just how their restaurant runs. My sister and I plus my 2 year old niece went in to try this place out. You have to order at the register and pay then go back to your table. Grab your own water/soda, napkins, and to go containers. My niece spilled her soda on the ground and the workers just stared and went back to what they were doing. It'd be nice if someone helped since there is soda all under the table. I had to go grab a bunch of napkins and clean it up and then there is no trash can anywhere so I couldn't even pick it up to throw it away. I don't mind cleaning up the spill, just the workers not even caring to offer help or napkins was rude. They only have ONE HIGHCHAIR in the whole place and it was being used so my sister held her baby the whole time until the other guests left and offered it to us. They never came to check to see if everything was okay and they forgot one of my dishes I ordered. I thought it's cause they were busy so I waited but then every other person that came after me got their food so I finally went to go ask. The girl didn't say anything to me as I told her, she just rustled through some paper looking for my order and then asked the kitchen, not even acknowledging me or letting me know anything so I just walked back to my table. Eventually she brought my food out and said sorry about that and hurried off. Sucks cause you order at the register and pay right away so I might as well wait for my food instead of trying to get a refund. I also tipped when I first paid cause I thought there would be some type of service or help but soon immediately regretted because it's basically a self serve restaurant and they don't even bother to check on you or bring you napkins or Togo containers. You just walk up and grab it yourself. They don't take orders at the table but the girl must've known this couple because she stood at their table taking their order etc. Inconsistency. Honestly, I don't mind that it's basically a self serve Thai restaurant, now I just know not to tip since I'm basically doing everything but ringing in the food and physically bringing the food to my table. You basically take care of yourself. Food is good at least but the two young girls in the front need to learn to be nicer. If someone spills something on accident in the restaurant, it'd be nice to offer help or grab some napkins for us or maybe a mop?! I used sooooo much napkins trying to clean it up. For Roseville, the Thai food we ordered was good. Service isn't great and not too welcoming of a vibe. I've worked in customer service and I always acknowledge guests when they come in or leave. You don't get that here. If your restaurant doesn't serve guests etc you should make it known. Have your staff remind people when they come in and order instead of people looking lost and confused. It's a new restaurant, not everyone knows how you're trying to run things. Pro tip: when you walk in, don't even sit down. Just order at the register first. Then grab yourself anything you need off the table by their kitchen window and soda machine. read more

Finally tried STK after giving them some time to work out the "kinks" of a new restaurant. When our party of 5 arrived for dinner we were greeted after waiting just a couple of minutes and told that only 1 burner in the kitchen was working so there might be a delay in getting the food out quickly. We were ok with that so we were seated right away. One of the servers brought us menus and another server brought 3 waters - just 3 for a party of 5. When we were ready to place our orders, we were told that we have to order at the front desk. Sounds simple right? Well by this time there was a line of about 7 people waiting to order so our designated person who was going to place the order had to wait in line for approx 5 minutes to place the order. Surprisingly, we did not have to wait long for our appetizers to arrive. Potstickers were fresh and not too oily, if anything they were a bit on the small side. The fresh spring rolls were pretty good although, there was quite a bit of lettuce in each roll. The peanut dipping sauce was flavorful but there really wasn't much to share as there was only about a large tablespoon of sauce which was not really enough for 4 descent sized rolls. Now for the entrees. We ordered papaya salad, green curry, panang curry, pdrunken noodles, and 2 drinks from a self serve drink dispenser (like McDonslds). Unfortunately, the ice machine was not working well so the drinks had little to no ice. Each dish was prepared well and was flavorful. Portion sizes again were on the small side. What was also frustrating was that we were never given plates for our food other than the small appetizer plates. Our curry dishes came with 1 scoop of rice. These small scoops really weren't enough for either curry dish so we asked one of the servers if we could get more rice. We were politely told that we would have to order it from the front desk. By this point the line at the front desk had several people waiting to order. So our choice was to wait in line to order more rice while our food got cold or to just not order more rice. Decision was to not order more rice. Would we return to STK? Pro's: Tasty food although nothing spectacular Friendly staff Clean dining area and bathrooms Cons: Poorly organized with less than efficient ordering system Smaller portions Staff could be a little more attentive Overall, our dinning experience was just "ok". Would we return? Unless we hear that there have been some key changes, most likely we would not return. read more

Went to get my favorite soup. While waiting I could see into the kitchen where ALL ingredients went into the same hot water to thaw or precook? How can food be gluten free or allergen free when it all goes into the same water? Also saw some less than hygienic things going on back there. so sad. couldn't eat my soup. took it home, threw it away and haven't been back. read more

We mistakenly sat at the table for 10 minutes before we realized that you have to order at the counter. I was thrown off by the premature gratuity that was asked when ordering the food. We sat there for another 30 minutes before we were served our food after watching several parties that ordered after us get served. Second try, first was first week they were open. We ordered online and everything was ready when promised. Portion size of drunken noodles was for 1 person. Dish tasted fresh and very "clean". The staff is very polite and the food arrived quickly. The portions are on the small side, but delicious nonetheless. Ordered for pick up tonight and wish that we'd dined in, as it seems that dine in reviews are a bit happier. Nothing was inedible or bad tasting, but portions were unreasonably small. I ordered pumpkin curry, and it was very thin, almost watery, and had (2) 2 inch pieces of pumpkin in total. There was nothing pumpkin about this curry, so maybe they just added two little pieces to a different kind? Maybe because the to go containers are so small that that's all they could fit? Ordered takeout and it was ready within 20 minutes. Smaller portions than other Thai restaurants but great food overall. I got chicken Pad Thai, beef Pad See Ew, and chicken Panang Curry. Pad Thai and Pad See Ew were great. Perfect amount of spice (level 3) and lots of flavor. Panang Curry was just OK. Too heavy on the Thai Basil flavor and it just wasn't flavorful enough for me. I finally got to try a thai spot in roseville and had such a pleasant experience. The food was authentic unlike some other thai restaurants i've tried. The way you order if you look at the menu and then order at the cashier area. It was efficient and fast and you get to choose a table. They have nugget ice!!?? AMAZING CHOICE. also they have a table where you can choose your sauce/spices and to go boxes if you need them :) There were so many great things on the menu, it was hard for me to choose what i wanted! I ended up trying the ground pork larb, chicken tom yum and som tum--everything with medium spice and they do not play around with their spice level!! It hurt so good LOL. The larb was spicy and citrusy and tasted a bit nutty from the rice powder. It was really good. The tom yum was the spiciest thing we tried but was one of the best tom yum i've ever had. The papaya salad gave us a nice crunch and refreshing dish to our meal. You can adjust ur spice level to however you would like. I think next time i'll try mild and add extra spice if needed haha! Also, would like the add that the portion for their dishes here was perfect and honestly pretty big to me compared to other places i've gone to. I definitely need to try more things next time :) The decor and ambience of the restaurant was very modern and beautiful. I really loved how the restaurant looked. I came in on a Thursday a few minutes after they opened. I was greeted warmly and professionally by two young ladies (unknown names). The system is you browse the menu, order at the counter, and take a seat. I ordered the pumpkin curry with chicken medium spicy, sticky rice, and some satay. The food came out in a timely manner. It looked amazing and I got started before snapping any shots for the review. The curry was hearty and spiced perfectly. Likewise, the chicken satay was cooked perfectly maintaining its juices. I have not eaten in yet, but when picking up I've seen people pretty upset over the wait, it's very hectic at the front the front door with no space to wait. When trying to do to-go orders definitely go to their website cause they'll either never answer the phone or put you on hold for over 10 minutes ... never to answer. And you call back .. and if you're lucky they'll actually answer and again put you on hold. Definitely need to work on the flow of things. read more

The food that we received was ok. The service was terrible. We ordered the crunchy rolls appetizer, Thai iced teas, and three noodle dishes at the counter to eat in and sat down at an open table with our number. The teas came out quickly. About 15 minutes later, one of the pad Thai dishes came out. It was lukewarm and not at all spicy when medium spice was ordered. 15 minutes later, the crunchy rolls came out. They were kind of dark brown and seemed to have been left in the fryer too long. We waited and waited for the other two noodle dishes as we watched plates of food going to tables that had arrived after we had... maybe they phoned in their orders? We asked what was going on and were told that they were short staffed. After another half hour, we asked for our money back for the food we hadn't received, which they gave us without argument. We weren't wowed by the food we did get, we thought the lighting was awfully bright, and the disorganization was off putting, plus we're not wild about ordering at the counter at dinner time. The food was subpar , the vegetables were not fresh (tasted as if microwaved). The porch chops were rubbery. Overall- Pretty underwhelming. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. read more
