We had a great experience last night at Sizzle! There were 4 first time Korean BBQ people in our group and one experienced person - Montse was our server/chef and she was terrific! She made the birthday dinner a huge success! She was patient with the rookies and helped steer us to some wonderful dishes! Short ribs, Ribeye, Tongue ( yes beef tongue), marinated thin sliced beef were all delicious as was the kimchi stew, potstickers and stir fried glass noodles, salads and side dishes. The galbi here is buttery, melt in your mouth perfection. We came here for dinner with a group of 12, easily made a same day reservation, and were seated right away. The banchan was good, and service was attentive. The table spacing is somewhat cramped, and there are only two total bathroom stalls so there was usually a wait, which one doesn't expect at a restaurant with this price point. Aside from the galbi, the bulgogi was just ok and unfortunately was overcooked by our server so tasted dry. However, the galbi was so top notch that it mostly eclipsed the above downsides. read more

We have family friends in town and decided to come here for dinner. I called around 5pm to ask for last minute reservations for a party of 12 and they were able to book a table for us for 5:30pm so that was nice. The food itself is good but the quality isn't that great compared to other places I've been to in LA. They are stingy about the condiments. I like having my own dipping tray like all other kbbq establishments provide but here it's a shared tray. I like to eat my meat with tons of ssamjang but they won't even give extra so you'd have to keep asking which was annoying. I think it's a good place if you want to take guests somewhere that's fancier but otherwise, I'd rather go eat AYCE somewhere. read more

We ventured up to old town to try out sizzle Korean barbecue. We were lucky as there was no wait when we got there but as the time progress, the restaurant didn't get pretty busy. What we liked about this is that you can select what meats you were gonna get and you were able to take home your food. Sometimes when you go to these Korean barbecue places it's all you can eat and you're unable to take home your leftovers. What we enjoyed was some of the red meat we thought that the ribeye was a little too fatty for our liking. However, we did enjoy majority of the red meat combo. What we didn't like is the server cooks your food. I think that was fun at a Korean barbecue places that you get to go ahead and make your own meat. Often our server was running from table to table at time our meat was getting a little too done. We ended up monitoring our own meat and moving it around anyway. It would be nice if there was an option just to make your own meat as we didn't really need our server to make our meat. I guess you know for liability purposes they have someone cook your meat, but it was almost distractive for her to bounce back-and-forth every 3 to 5 minutes to check on things. It almost felt like an intrusion on our meal. Overall was a good experience and I would go back. The drinks were good and I did enjoy the sides that came with the meal. I will say they ended up charging me extra for Shishito peppers. But I think they should've just gave me more peppers and maybe some onions to go with our meat selection. I wish I would've had that option as the only vegetables that came with mushrooms and we don't even like mushrooms. If you like Korean barbecue when you're in the area definitely check this place out cause it was good overall. We enjoyed our leftovers. High quality A La Carte KBBQ! This place is so clean! Service was amazing. They grill the meat for you! All the banchan (side dishes) are so good and flavorful! We ordered the beef combo for 2. It comes with salad and a stew. We also ordered seafood pancake. It fed 3 hungry people. The price is reasonable for high quality meat. Mango Bingsu was bomb!! So refreshing!! Would not recommend this if this is your first time at a Korean bbq, but yeah, this place does take a proper approach for service at a high-end Korean bbq. The place itself is clean, family friendly, and it feels small. The servers are attentive and they cook the food for you, but if the place is crowded don't expect to be taken care of immediately as they'll be busy cooking at the other tables. We did ask for a window table but they only sat us at an area where waitstaff was assigned. The quality of the meat is above average, but with the price point, our high expectations were definitely a letdown. There's no free refills on tea, and ordering rice cost extra. There's not even rice paper as a side. With how salty and oily the food can be, ordering rice is almost a necessity. The soybean stew was especially salty as well. However, I did like that they properly switched the grills depending on the meats being cooked. The part that hurt the most though was my friend and I ordered the large 3-4 person meal, but between the two of us, it wasn't enough food. Although this led to ordering the shaved ice which was actually fairly priced and delicious, the price is too high to justify this being a place I'd recommend, especially for first timers for Korean bbq. If you do come here regardless, maybe eat beforehand. The banchan is good, I definitely asked for refills on the kimchi at least twice. Sizzle's quality has gone down a lot over the years and we haven't been happy with our last few visits. I used to love to bring family and friends here but everyone has agreed it doesn't have the same quality anymore. * The portions of meat are smaller -- a set that supposedly can feed 4-5 feeds 2. * The service is hit or miss -- the last two times service was nonexistent and slow. Last visit, our server didn't take our order for over 20 mins after we sat down. We understand Sizzle can get busy but that doesn't excuse no service for almost 30 mins! * The pricing is expensive for what you get now -- paying 100s for everything average. * Although the meat looks good in pictures and in person, it just doesn't taste good. Not tender and very chewy. * For the marinaded meats, it doesn't have enough flavor or seasoning. They may need to marinade their meats more. * Side dishes are flavorless and need more seasoning but at least unlimited. * Seafood pancake was meh the last two visits -- not worth ordering and barely any seafood. Love the kimchee stew here, it's the best. Ordered it to go. I like to have a glass of wine while waiting. Usually, the wait person will pour it for me, but last night the person did not. They usually ask if I'd like a glass of water and will return to pour it one of their stainless steel cups. That didn't happen. Then he spilled some on me. Great service and food here at Sizzle. I particularly enjoy the quality of meat served compared to some other Korean BBQ places. I enjoy the large beef combo with my sister to split even though the serving listed is for 3-4 people.. There are 5 pairings to choose one option from each pairing. I chose the beef brisket, rib eye, seasoned boneless short rib, marinated thinly sliced beef, and kimichi stew. It so fun to watch the team cook the meats while we watxh then when ready you can eat off the grill. The selection of Bam Chan is great. My favorite is the cucumber kimichi and of the salads the green onion salad The sauces are great flavor enhancements to the meat. The Kimichi Fried Rice is usually really tastey but this time around the rice tasted overcooked and lacked flavor. After tasting this I wished I would have ordered the Korean dumplings instead. Sizzle Korean Barbeque was an okay experience. I don't know what the hype was about, and I definitely cannot relate to why people were so generous to give them 4/5 stars for overall rating. We were a party of 5 today. There was no wait time to be seated on a Thursday night around 6:30ish. The ambience was nice, the vibe seemed upscale wanna be with wine glass set ups on the tables along with silver utensils and napkins. In all actuality, the prices of the meats were the only upscale things on the menu. Not being an Arizona local and visiting from Florida may have had something to do with it, but personally, the prices were way too pricey for how the meats tasted. I got the impression that they use good quality meats and the meat seemed fresh because of their coloring, texture, and marbling. However, the briskets were too tough and cut slightly thicker than what we were used to. The pork belly was nice and thick but nothing special for their prices. Bulgogi was okay but the grill they prefer to use to cook it will burn the meat if the customer doesn't know what they are doing. The rest of the food including silk tofu soup, japchae, hot stone bibimbap and the side dishes tasted very blend and they don't deserve to be called korean food. The flavor base was way off and the chef who prepared it just made these dishes "LOOK" like korean foods. There was not a single korean chef to be seen in their open kitchen, and the chef was in way over his head and was backed all the way up. At one point he pulled out what seemed like a roll of toilet paper of order tickets and pushed all the orders that seemed easy and less time consuming to him. Customers that were nearing the end like us had to wait over 40 minutes for an order of bulgogi while other dishes constantly came out the window with delay. We had to repeat ourselves multiple times to different servers what we needed to be able to continue on with our dining experience. The only reason why I am not leaving a 1 star but 3 stars is because of one person. The best thing about tonight's dining experience was our server Joshilyn who was a hostess, food runner, server, cashier, and tended to managerial duties when needed to keep us informed as to why some of our orders were taking over 40minutes to come out. She went above and beyond to accommodate us while tending to other tables. She cooked our meat for us in the beginning but there was only so much she could do when the food wasn't coming out on time. We don't blame her and we saw how much effort she was putting in to make sure every table had everything they needed to continue to dine in. Joshilyn deserves recognition for her efforts today. Thank you Joshilyn for waiting on our table tonight, you were great. PS I won't be returning to Sizzle Korean Barbeque in the future. Complete waste of time and not worth the time or the money. Please go elsewhere for Korean bbq because I don't recommend this place to anyone. If you are strong willed and must try this place out for yourself then please keep in mind that the parking situation is a bit tricky. Be prepared to park across the street in old Scottsdale and walk a while to get to your destination. I am very disappointed as a Korean customer. read more

I hate giving 1-stars. The food is fine. Generally, I found the beef to be good quality - the Bibimba was very good too. The waiter was also excellent. But the manager? Terrible. We spent $500. In between our meal, there was a misunderstanding over one dish. The manager came over, and basically blamed us for the miscommunication - from there; he said a nasty thing to my wife that I won't repeat here, but he basically implied that we were stupid. I reprimanded him and told him to stop giving attitude. I'm not asking for this manager to be fired - but someone on the ownership needs to explain customer relations to him. You'll notice that the mass majority of my reviews are 5-star. It takes a LOT to upset me. I'm also attaching my receipt for $500. It doesn't matter that $500 was spent - all should be treated well - but if my party isn't treated well (and we paid a lot) I can only imagine the service that others receive? Unless there was bigotry involved due to my skin color (or a different reason for bigotry)? Finally got the chance to visit Sizzle to attend a birthday dinner, and I could not be more impressed! This KBBQ has high-quality meats, outstanding service, and fantastic sides. Plus, they take care of the flipping for you, so you can simply enjoy your perfectly cooked meal -- and there's no burnt stovetops smoking up your clothes and hair. Upon our server's recommendation, our group of seven ordered two large beef combos, which gave us a chance to try every option available. The beef belly was melt-in-your-mouth good, especially with the sweeter dipping sauce, while all the marinated meats were perfectly seasoned and allowed a nice crisp to form on the meats. I highly recommend the savory, lightly spiced soybean stew, which includes tender and fatty beef. However, the kimchi stew was excellent as well! All in all, I'd say two combos was the perfect amount for seven (maybe a tad short for eight). It includes steamed egg and a wonderful assortment of banchan with acidity that balances the meat. The strawberry lemonade soju cocktail is also fantastic if you like drinks with a lighter alcohol flavor without being too sweet. The standard "let's not clean empty plates off the table" that is now rampant in Phoenix restaurants was in full swing here. Wow! Great Korean BBQ in Scottsdale! I will say I'm no expert in this area, but after seeing so many delicious pictures from fellow yelpers enjoying their KBBQ, and knowing mine never looked like theirs, I figured I was doing something wrong. So I convinced a co-worker, who happens to be Korean, to take a smaller group and treat us all to having it done right. This place was different for me, as the server cooked all of the food for us. I think we ordered some type of combo that had various meats and such. The marinated meats were much better flavored than the plain stuff. I still didn't know what some of the stuff was I was eating (especially the bowls of stuff on the side). Everything was delicious though, and I was glad we came here. The meal was pricey, but I guess if you go to a $19.99 AYCE place, you're going to get crap. This one was good! I'm just going to start by saying that the only thing saving this place is the friendly staff with great knowledge. My reason for such a low rating is simply that all the other kbbq places I've been to have all been "all you can eat" and they serve you a drink and sides with it like lettuce, rice, jap chae, and stews to go with your meal. However, here they charge you for 3-4 meats and it's already more than you would pay at any other kbbq! And on top of that the rice is t included if you want more, lettuce is $5??, jap chae another $15, and the stews go from $15-$25! Not to mention no drink or ice cream or included either! Overall I feel disappointed, I understand it's located in Scottsdale but every other kbbq is BETTER all around! I'd go to Jin or Jin shabu instead ANY DAY. read more

We ordered the beef combo (pretty sure it was the large combo) and I think we added an order of the beef brisket and pork belly as well. Banchan, salads and sauces were included. Large combo selection ($145): Beef Belly Boneless Short Rib Marinated Short Rib Outside Skirt Meat Kimchi Stew + Beef Brisket ($45) + Pork Belly ($40) + Steamed Egg ($5) + Mango Bingsoo ($13) Everything was delicious! Quality of meat here never disappoints and the service is always great. Non AYCE kbbq spots are always better in my opinion. Quality over quantity. came here looking forward to a good meal after a long day and was pretty disappointed. note that we came here at a normal time for dinner (around 8pm) and the restaurant wasn't full so there was no excuse for the treatment we got. i came with 3 other girls and we decided that the large beef set would be enough food for us, as we don't eat that much in the first place. when they brought the large set to us, we confirmed with our server twice that this was the large set because it just didn't look like that much meat at all. for $145 before tax and tips, we expected to all leave full but we all left slightly hungry instead. i didn't even get a picture of what we got served because i was so shocked at the portion... not only that but i couldn't even tell if the meat quality was good or not because our server overcooked almost all of our meat, left the tongs directly on the table when he wasn't using them, would constantly let the raw meat touch the cooked meat on the side and dropped two pieces of the meat on the table! and instead of giving us a replacement or even apologizing, he said 'oops!' and put it back on the grill to cook. if you've had good kbbq before, don't come here with super high expectations read more

I rarely write these reviews, but felt that I must after my experience tonight. First.. the vibe was ok. Nice enough place. Quite a few people in there. Which I thought was a good sign. Waitress was friendly and helpful. That is where the good comes to and end. I ordered the filet mignon... once i ordered the waitress brought out all of these little sides that I was excited to try.... One of them was some kind of noodle strips... that was served cold that tasted like they had been soaking in a bucket of fish guts. The other was kimchi... it was barely ok. Some sprouts... mediocre. And some type of beet... terrible. I'm thinking... surely my $60 filet is going to be excellent. WRONG! They brought the filet out. No seasoning, no marinate... no nothing with a big onion steak and some mushrooms.... Again... no seasoning. It is cooked on the little grill in front the of me with 1 little pat of butter. The steak itself was half gristly.. I'm looking around thinking I'm being PUNKED.... Unfortunately, it was all real. They also brought some little skillet out with a "steamed egg" in it.... It was horrible... it tasted like an egg with no seasoning. Don't waste your time or money. It was horrible....the sides (garnishes) were horrible. The meat was tasteless.... Sizzle is a great place if you're looking for high quality KBBQ! I came here as a group of 3 and the large beef combination was perfect for the amount of people we had. They also cook, flip, and cut the meats for you which was great and their ventilation really reduced the Smokey smell. The service was relatively quick and they were attentive to when they were cooking. The sides of kimchi and other pickled vegetables went great with the meat as well as the sauces and spices. We love Korean bbq places. Since this was easy access and we've never seen it before, we decided to stop by. We were seated right away but it took about 20mins to even get our food order in. The service was very slow and our waitress was not warm at all. I had to ask for things twice (a fork for my son, which was kind of aggressively placed on the table as if it was our fault she forgot the first time) and I also just gave up on asking for another item all together (cabbage kimchi). Not sure where the high ratings come in but maybe this day, or this waitress, was just not it. There is not a wide variation of food anyway and limited sides. This was not just dining, it was an experience! We ordered the beef combo, which came with salads, choice of soup and sides. The beef belly is a must (think bacon but with beef). The rib eye and short ribs also rich and flavorful. The least favorite was the marinated skirt steak, a bit too heavy on the marinade, it overwhelmed the beef. I have been eating Bulgogi for several decades, and it is generally somewhat fatty, but the meat they are serving here is probably 25% fat. It means you can't really eat the entire plate... And $50.
