Katrina was our first meeting in three years with someone who represented Sizzler. She was the hostess that day. My mom, three friends and myself entered the restaurant. She introduced herself, welcomed us and explained all the different options as we hadn't been to Sizzler in years. She was so personable, helpful and yet so professional that it really kind of amazed me. What a wonderful woman. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on that visit and on subsequent visits to that Sizzler on Mt Vernon. I use to love sizzler as a kid growing up, maybe it's because back then my taste buds didn't set in & i actually only ordered salad bar at the time, I use to get excited I loved the variety, but this visit tonight idk what it was I get it stuff happens inside kitchens that we don't see, it wasn't what I expected I'm sorry sizzler but I'm done now for good. I literally didn't like my food or salad bar. The quality of food has declined. I don't even think a promotion can save this place. read more

Aww man Sizzler. I loved you and your Malibu Chicken. I was so stoked about coming here as its been one of my favorites for years but my husband HATES Sizzler. So imagine my disappointment when I spot several cockroaches crawling out from under the decorative cap at the top of our booth right above my aunt's shoulder. The manager said they just sprayed so that was why they were coming out but in reading some of these reviews, its not a new problem. We were offered to move to another table but when the bugs are crawling out of your seating, another table isnt going to solve the problem. read more

I came here with a traveling companion on the way down to San Diego after spending six days in Yosemite, so I had my appetite in tow! Come for the cheese toast! It's delicious, and I would have filled up on that had we not had to ask our server for a pair of slices at a time. The salad bar offerings were pretty average, as was the adjacent selection of hot fried foods. I don't think we would have eaten at this "steakhouse" if we weren't starved driving out of Yosemite. For one, the ordering scheme is sketchy and confusing. You enter a corridor with a gigantic menu on the wall and are to wait in line and choose your entree. Then you order at a counter like at Mickey D's. Then you sit and wait ages for your food because you have no real waitperson, and when the waitperson shows up, she is confused from looking at the abbreviated descriptions on your receipt so she does not know what you actually ordered. when the food finally shows up, the steak is a meager sliver of shrunken, dejected dead cow. my "medium rare" petite sirloin was woody and chewy. the fries were good, but hey, fries aren't hard to come by. the plating is awful. i mean, it's a restaurant. it's in the service industry for a reason. when i order a steak dinner i want my plate to be overflowing with portions of everything. i want juices sliding all over my mashed potatoes and getting cozy with the steamed broccoli. well there was no steamed broccoli, even. just small amounts of reconstituted beef jerky and a side of soggy freedom potatoes. and it looked like it had been plopped on the plate with the woeful halfheartedness of a dejected mother serving slop to her picky teens. the salad bar looked good, but no one in my party had the foresight to order salad bar goodness. the salad bar included a taco bar, a soup bar, and an ice cream station... but the lost opportunity is not going to be able to lure me back for any more. even if i came back and ordered the feeding frenzy salad bar, if i happen to catch a sidelong glance at a neighboring table with a steak on it, i might burst into tears. also, my boyfriend's parsley was wilted. read more

First, this is Sizzler, and if you are familiar with Sizzler, you know not to expect much. At all. Im pretty sure unless youve never been to a Sizzler, most people know not to take this 'Steakhouse' seriously. That being said, my husband and I are very aware of the above, but still like to come here for our own reasons. He loves the all you can eat shrimp. Is it wonderful and amazing? No. But its cheap and not horrible either. I personally like the blue cheese dressing from the salad bar. I have since I was a kid. Just something about the nutty underlying flavor. Sizzler is okay if you know what your getting into. Dont expect great food, and dont expect service. DO expect simple comforts if you can get around that otherwise. read more

I eat here semi-often, usually at least once every three months when I'm working in Bakersfield. I normally have good experiences here and would have given them 5 stars; however, they lose two for tonight's experience. Tonight they just sucked - big time. If it was my first experience I'd never go back. The food was lukewarm. I was served cold coffee twice, sent it back twice. I was told the second cup was "from a fresh pot". They were busy tonight and the waitress looked pretty harried; however, not everyone is cut out for food service - if you can't work in that environment under pressure, do something else. People pay for a good meal and a good experience when eating away from home. Anyway, I tried a bowl of clam chowder from the salad bar area. Got back to my table and it was cold too. I sent the full bowl back with the waitress. I never did get the usual plate they leave for the tip, with the "thank you" note and mint - good thing since leaving a tip probably would've pissed me off even more. I finally just gave up and walked out. I hope that this isn't the beginning of a trend... read more

I usually come here with family. Laid back atmosphere, usually have some TVs with sports games on. Perfect to come in after work to eat & have a beer/glass of wine. We usually sit to the left (closer to the exit door) that way we get Michelle as our waitress :) she's super friendly & attentive. Would recommend this location to anyone in the area read more

I hadn't been to sizzler in probably about 20 years (since i was a kid). I was very impressed!! We were greeted by many employees who all seemed friendly and extremely helpful. We placed our order, I ordered a burger, and my friend ordered a salad (some new diet of the week i think). Both items were brought to our table very quickly. I must say, the burger was great. Cooked correctly, and lots of flavor. I can't comment too much on the salad, because even though it looked very good (and im pretty sure it was great as far as salads go) my buddy wasn't exactly thrilled about the new food choices he was forcing himself to make this week. hehehe. We were continually checked on, drinks filled, etc. There was nothing left to want from the staff on this visit. Not much else to say other than the food was good, the staff was excellent. read more

I've been to several Sizzlers in my life and this might be the best one. Everything met Sizzler quality standards from the Malibu chicken to the overall quality of the salad and hot bar. But there were three things that really stood out to me. The vegetable soup, the tuna pasta, and the ice cream were better than usual. Additionally, the service was good and the restaurant was clean. This is a great place to eat and a fantastic value. If you are on the road, like I was, it would be worth it to go a little out of your way to dine at this Sizzler. read more

Used to be great, but add a tour bus full of rude, pushy French tourists, a staff of clueless teenagers and no tables because they're all "reserved", stand around with some clueless waitress who panics and doesn't know what to do, for 2 laps around the entire restaurant when they are still selling but out of room. It's like they can't do simple math. Finally, after being literally shoved around at the salad bar by more French tourists, and then telling us they were out of items we ordered, enough was enough and a place we look forward to going every time we go down to Bakersfield, NEVER AGAIN Run far away. Me and my friend went to have a nice dinner together at the sizzler buffet. Horrible food! We showed up and they buffet had ground beef tacos(the ground beef didn't even look like ground beef) and Spaghetti wit meatballs(the sauce was liquid) neither me or my friend enjoyed either one. Then we had a salad(the only good meal) then the clam chowder that I ate had sand in my mouth every bite. THEN we tried the ice cream(only flavor was vanilla) didn't even taste or look like ice cream, the strawberry topping tasted old. The menus are inaccurate and overpriced. Compared to "Sweet Tomatoes" this is fantastic. Taco bar (beef, carnitas w/fresh guacamole) + salad bar (various fresh foods and salad options) + drink = $12. Chicken wings are cooked well and moist. Cheesy toast has a delicious crisp top. A steal. Good good quality. Salads are fresh and mixed well to maximize flavor like the Super Food Salad, which includes kale,a healthy favorite. Corn chowder was hot, chunks of fresh corn and creamy. Guacamole - large chunks of avocado and zesty. Tuna salad fresh and not watery. Tons of tasty options like even a jicama mango salad. For VEGAN eaters - your good to go. Restaurant is clean and bar well stocked and maintained. For buffet restaurants this is one of the better options. read more

Clean, well kept restaurant. The servers were courteous and helpful. The salad bar was well stocked with 3 types of lettuce, 5 kinds of dressing, lots of the typical salad bar sides. They also had a yummy broccolli, cranberry, bacon salad. There are 3 types of soup. I tried the vegetable beef. Meh... The taco bar was well stocked and for dessert, they had bread pudding, apple crisp (good!), ice cream cones or you could get a bowl for the soft serve that you could top with chocolate, caramel, Oreo crumbs, M&M's, or granola. I ordered the Riblets. What the heck are riblets? Well, tiny, tiny ribs. Really not worth the effort. If you're in the mood for ribs, get the half rack if you're hungry. These were crispy and tough. They came with some awesome, huge steak fries tho. Those were good. My son got the half rack of ribs. He really enjoyed it. It came with regular fries that he liked. Mom got the steak and all you can eat shrimp. So much shrimp on the initial plate that she was too full to order more. Overall, it's a decent place to eat. We love the salad bar all you can eat with a variety fruits, vegetables, soups, their hot fresh dinner rolls, their tender juicy steak, seafood and great service. We have been to many sizzlers in southern California we moved from County of San Bernardino and never did we experienced poor food quality, poor food variety and bad service on Real Road/ California, we rather go to the sizzler on Mt.Vernon coming from south west area along with other friends that live south west, it's happened few times hoping for changes after complaining but no change. read more
