My family and I don't really complaint at all, as we came from the service industry, but this is the exception. Upon entering the establishment,; we have to wait for the cashier to get back to her station (we understand they get busy), but when she got to the cashier she was projecting the sense of unhappiness to be at work and she took it upon us the customer her frustration. My son ordered the hamburger and immediately she said " we are out of hamburger, did you not see it on the wall?", I was surprise with such attitude and just said "No, but it's not noted on the menu by the cash register". I just told my son to order the salad,. We could have just let it go, but when she start to Slamming the glasses on the counter and keep on telling us that the drinks are self serve, i felt that it was uncalled for and warranted a bad review, she made us feel like we are begging for the food for free at Sizzler and we have to intention in paying. My boyfriend and I just came here 6/27 about 10 minutes after opening. We were the first ones here. We waited just under 10 minutes to be acknowledged after being walked past several times by two different workers. We did order the salad bar with our entrees, which we were super excited about! We dove right in and started making our salads, but a lot of the items in the bar definitely didn't look fresh, like the spinach, it was super wilted. This is understandable, but what is not understandable is the same complaining employee was just standing around watching salad bar goers and he didn't notice the bar was under stocked? I Order steak and lobster via Door Dash, my Dasher got to the store in a timely manner, shortly after her arrival the meal was listed as ready. I usually have pretty decent experiences at Sizzlers in the south bay with very little problem, but this was a first. Wanted to take my friend to Sizzlers yesterday evening because of the $5 off for $25 deal. We ended up leaving because of the poor customer service. We were in line and dealing with a transaction conflict for 25 minutes. At that point we left. The line was short when we entered. The person running the register, Samantha, was taking a long time to perform transactions with the 2 groups in front of us, and when we came up to make our order, it made sense why. She seemed unfamiliar with the interface of the register, which slowed down the process of us paying. Additionally, she made poor judgment calls, jumping the gun on decisions I never disclosed, primarily splitting the bill when I didnt ask for it to be split. She scans the card, total cost due is cut un half, i tell her i didnt want it split, which normally wouldnt be a big deal, but her unfamiliarity with the system made it a larger issue than it was supposed to be. She claims the purchase was voided, but is unable to show proof, stating it was voided in the system. It may be true, but I dont know how the "system" works. I tell her i wanted to pay the whole thing, then she voids the first half i paid and the total price was shown. I notice this and asked if she voided the initial half of the purchase. She says she did, but cant show proof. A receipt stating the voided transaction with the card info would have been sufficient. And i dont wanna be over charged. The shift manager was unable to resolve the problem as well, just repeating the same thing, still unable to show sufficient proof of a void transaction, or at least perform something with the register that would provide the proper condition of showing proof possible. Was Samantha being trained? If so, why wasnt someone watching over her? If she has been trained, why is she still unfamiliar with performing transactions? I remember back in the days how sizzler was. That amazing cheese toast, the all-you-can-eat shrimp, the chicken wings at the salad bar. Well times they have changed! It's been a while since I had been to sizzler, a couple of years, maybe more. I stopped Cuz the steak they served was starting to change. I was getting this really tough piece of meat with very little flavor. Then they changed the fried shrimp to some other kind of fried shrimp which I really didn't like. Then they went back to the original fried shrimp and so I came back! But the steak was still the same so I stopped. Then they changed the steak to a better cut of meat! Ribeye and tri-tip! -The Case of the Passionate Server- Sizzler's at Colma is one of my family's favorite places to eat and we go there about once every month. I haven't had such remarkably terrible service in a long while at any restaurant. Believe it or not, it's actually quite refreshing. Normally, the quantity and the quality of the food is good and the servers are friendly. Finding a table for us to sit isn't too difficult. The salad bar is scrumptious and plentiful and is presented nicely. One major problem with our visit was the server. We located an empty table and sat down. I did not see this guy once at our table during our time at this visit. After we got our plates laden with the salad bar items, we had no utensils. We waited to catch the guy's attention. He was busy sitting a group of 5-6 people next to us and talking loud like he was welcoming them to Fantasy Island. My husband had to walk over to the service entrance to get the forks and knives. Our first plate of salad was consumed in 10 minutes, and still no server. We looked around for this guy who was still acting like he was Ricardo Montalban, widely gesturing and trying hard to impress the ladies of a particular ethnic group in the room. We waited for him to come over or at least for him to glance over in our direction so we can raise our hands for extra plates. No such luck. There were no other servers coming around to our area either. My husband again went to the service entrance to ask for extra plates. After the second plate of yummy salad, I was wishing for my main meal to arrive. The party that arrived after us got served first by our server, complete with the dignified human dining experience with cutlery and specialized lemon flavored bevvies. We waited for another 5 minutes or so, then my husband again went to the service entrance to ask about our food. There, he sees that our food had been prepared first but was left standing there, getting cold. Finally, after a trip to refill my drink, I saw that the mysterious server finally had the decency to deliver our food while I was away, and that my dried-up linguine with shrimp looked and tasted like one hour old Cup O' Noodle. The cheese on the melt sandwich was congealed with grease and the fries were cold, but- glory hallelujah, my cup runneth over-at least my son's steak was cooked perfectly. At this point, having fed myself two plateful of salad, I was not in the mood to swallow dried up instant noodles and wanted a to-go container. Again, our enthusiastic Mr. Ricardo Montalban somehow successfully continued to evade our table, tending to the many needs of other tables, so my husband had to go to the service entrance to ask for a container. I solemnly swear that we haven't even said hello to this guy or provide any reason for the server to hate us up to this point. Then the guy rushes over to my husband while he's talking to the busperson there, and tells him angrily that it's "restaurant policy" not to give containers for leftover food, except small squares of tin foil. The tin foil is not large or thick enough to hold any half portion of left over food. It is at this point that my husband's temper volcanoes over, and he tells the server that he saw with his own eyes not 2 minutes ago that another guest walking away with a food container. Expletives were mentioned. The busperson was laughing at this spectacle, and the cashier was tickled, telling us repeatedly that we should complain to the manager. Well, instead of talking to the manager, here I am at Yelp, telling my woeful tale. Again, this was a refreshing change from the usually good service we get at Sizzler. I think the guy was crazy or racially motivated, you know? That's all ok, we have preconceived notions of how other ethnic groups behave and how much they typically tip the waitstaff. We all work hard to stay above the water. But I would like to tell the server, if you have issues with the establishment where you work, you should talk it out with them and sort out your inner feelings, which may or may not be founded on truth. read more

Came here multiple times, I have never thought this place was that great. I mean there is a high level lack of service, except for a couple of individuals. There is an older asian man here whom I think definitely gives fabulous service. There was also a new younger man who just started working there as a cashier, which provides great service. Other than that, there lack proper sanitation, and etiquette. I used to go to the locations in east bay but when I come to this location more often due to its proximity to where I'm located now. There is parking in this location and I do appreciate the fact that target is there, so after a night of stuffing myself, my boyfriend and I would usually go to target to walk it off. This place just remodeled, and out of this and the daly city location that used to exist, located 3 minutes by car, I preferred the other. This location never has chicken wings, when they have it within seconds everyone hoards it all. This location also does a bad job of maintaining their refills. They need to find out a better refill strategy to ensure that all consumers are being served. The clam chowder here like any other sizzler is the bomb. I have been coming to this Sizzler on and off for past 3 years, and should have read the reviews about recent management changes before tonight's visit. Wonderful waiters and waitresses, and improved food quality, however due to poor management decisions, I would not return here. Let me try to walk you through my experience here tonight: The menu pricing has generally gone up. I attempted to use a coupon that they had mailed to me, but the restrictions were fairly ambiguous. Turns out by redeeming the coupon, it would only give you comparable prices as they had before the management changes. Inflation happens and I understand, fine. As the cashier was helping us with the order and trying to sort out the coupon confusion, the manager was standing next to the cashier and offered absolutely no help or acknowledgment of the situation whatsoever. There was only one open register with approximately 15 people waiting in line. He stood, fetched water, and watched. I had been coming here for past 3 years for their hot wings at the salad bar, but they didn't have any out tonight. So I then spoke to one of the food ladies and she explained that the wings are only available through a la carte option now. Little did I know, there were quite a few mentions on this page about this change already. boo. The food quality has been improved since my last few visits, the fried shrimp does not taste out-of-a-box anymore, and a medium steak is actually cooked medium. We paid around $40 for both plates. we didn't get the salad or pasta bar but we were able to help ourselves to free refills and soft serve ice cream at the end. Everything was met to our standards, the only take away was the shrimp was a bit over cooked but still delicious. Although the food, the cleanliness and the overall ambiance can arguably be rated as average, I would give this Sizzler a 5 for their service. As a server in the food industry I believe this app needs to work more on praising for what they do well and not what they can be better at. I saw a coupon in the mail for a buy one get one steak free. However, as the cashier pointed out, and I neglected to realize that a New York Steak doesn't come in 6 oz or 8 oz, it didn't apply so I used a $10 off coupon instead. I also ordered a "plated side salad." It said "served at table" which I thought meant that they will serve you a side salad so you don't go buck-wild at the salad buffet if you served yourself. I was, however, mistaken. I thought it was strange that the waiter placed a plate with a bunch of napkins on my table and walked away. When he came back to ask if I needed anything I told him I ordered a side plated salad. He replied, "that's what the empty plate is for. You have to go to the salad bar and serve yourself." The salad was just the first odd thing about this expensive dinner. The second thing was that I ordered a New York Strip Steak for $15.99 cooked "medium". The waitress who took my order forgot how I wanted it cooked and asked if I wanted it well done. I corrected her and said I wanted it "medium". After waiting for what seemed to be 15-20 minutes after all the other couples and families around me were getting served STEAKS!, the waiter finally strolled my way with a steak that was charred in the edges and cooked well done. Because it was so late I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes for another steak to be cooked to my liking. I ate through the burnt, overlooked steak and picked at my baked potato that I slathered butter and sour cream on to make it at lest edible. This just goes to show what a cheap person will do when a coupon is dangled in their mailbox. Beware of the BOGO coupons! One last note on terrible service, I saw a young girl jumping up and down to grab the handle on the soft serve machine. By the time I realized what she was doing, I was about to get up and help her since no wait staff realized she needed help. EVENTUALLY a woman helped her. Note to self....never come here. No. Just....don't. I was feeling a lil nostalgic. I wanted a steak. We ended up at Sizzlers. When I was younger, that was the place to go to for all-you-can-eat salad bar and all-you-can-eat shrimp. We ate there after school, on birthdays, when we had visitors, etc. I should have kept the memories that I had...and when i didn't care about how my food was cooked or tasted. Apparently, "medium rare" is still not something they learn at Sizzler Culinary School or maybe it's the same cook from many moons ago. To be fair, the food is not horrible and the menu hasn't changed much. There's something to be said for consistency. You can find something on the menu (hint - all you can eat salad bar) that's not too bad. Last note, DO NOT SIT IN A BOOTH to have your meal unless you are an underweight adult, like, borderline anorexic. Choose a table with chairs. Why, you ask? Because the distance between the back of the booth and the table top is approximately 12 inches. Sounds like a lot of room, but it's only ginormous if you're a lady and that's your shoe size. No stars. Since the remodel it's worse than ever. What kinda steak curls?!?! And the baked potato was still hard!! Servers don't greet you just swipe the receipt off the table and move on. The floors are slick and you have to be careful to not slip. Its a Monday night nor even that busy but there's only one cashier and lots of people in line. The booths are now smaller now so you have to be super thin to fit in them. Hands down all around just worst ever. Never coming back ever again. read more
