We've been Snowbowl pass holders for three years now and never stayed at this place. We drive up from the Valley and stay overnight in town. To break out of the still 100+ degree temps, we hopped in the car to visit Flag during the warmer months. We decided to stay here instead of our usual digs. Total benefit that they have a restaurant. We were excited about happy hour, but they said it was only $1 off Coors. That's not happy hour. So we paid full price, all while still thinking we were getting slighted a bit. Lots of good beers on tap, though and they give pass holder discounts because Snowbowl owns the place (which is obvious from the employee shirts, but no where listed on the sign). Room was standard and fine. No mini fridge, but the rest decent. Our room (2), needed some assistance with that hot water faucet in the tub though--was close to third degree burns turning it off! Would stay there again. read more

We visited a month ago and had such a great time that we booked their largest cabin for this weekend!! Each cabin is different and yes some of the showers could use some work but they work and have hot water. This cabin of course has very few channels so we solved that problem on this trip by bringing ps4 and DVD player to watch movies. read more

The room is great! Love that we have a fireplace in our room. The room is small, but it's just us two and our baby so it works. But no more people than that can be comfortable in here. I would give the room a 4. As far as the restaurant.... I would give them a 2! The service is great!!! The food..... HORRIBLE!!! We ordered mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, and the nachos (but with our the meat and queso since we are vegetarian, we got beans and extra cheese instead). Well... the mozzarella sticks were cold and tasted cheap like string cheese and the marinara sauce it came with tasted vinegary, the fried pickles were too salty, and the nachos were cold and the cheese wasn't even melted! We were basically eating shredded cheese that was half melted and half cold. I ended up getting a stomach ache. They have good happy hour deals on drinks, but I wouldn't order the food here. If they can screw up those basic things, I wouldn't give anything else on their menu a shot. read more

Very convenient location next to Snowbowl. The cabins are very cute and you definitely get that rustic, outdoor feel when staying here. The cabins themselves could use some slight updating but that's part of the backwoods fun! The only reason I didn't rank this place higher is because we could hear every single move the people next to our cabin made. I think we just got unlucky with our cabin partners, we will get a single cabin next time. I loved the fireplace inside of the cabins and we sat out on the porch watching the snow fall! The staff was very friendly and the lodge had a great full bar in the afternoon and a yummy home cooked breakfast in the mornings. It was everything we needed for our ski trip! From my email to the owner: "Hello, I recently stayed in Cabin 21 from Friday to Sunday, and wanted to share some feedback. Overall, our stay was adequate. The woman who checked us in at the front desk was very polite and helpful. However, she had two colleagues who got in a verbal argument right in front of me, which they took into the back room, and proceeded using profanity, with one of the women crying.  Later, I needed assistance with something (I was off site) and tried calling for over an hour before I finally got through to someone. I went to the front desk when I returned, and waited over ten minutes before someone came to assist. The room was clean and quaint. The groups were immaculate. The mattress, however, was one of the most uncomfortable mattresses I have ever slept on in my life. Please seriously consider replacing them! Otherwise, the room was very nice and quiet. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious. We had dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning. The waitress Saturday night was wonderful - quick, attentive, and very friendly. The food was so good! Sunday morning we arrived for breakfast to discover no plates, no bowls, no utensils, no coffee, and no juice. About 10-15 of us were standing around waiting for an employee. I went to the front desk, and again no one was around. I went back to the restaurant and finally noticed a woman named Katie sitting at a table with her name tag on. I asked her if anyone was tending the dining room (that she was in). She said it was her responsibility but she was "busy" (she was talking with a friend or colleague at the table). She got up and quickly replaced the dishes and coffee, then took her name tag off and sat back down at the table. The dishes were quickly empty again, and people resumed standing around waiting for someone to assist. No one did. Finally, a young man came from the back room and was obviously working hard to clear tables, as dirty dishes had piled up on all of them, and to replenish the food that was gone. The other woman, Katie, never even stood up again to assist. It was extremely frustrating to see such blatant poor service from her. That said, I will likely not be staying at your lodge again, nor recommending you due to questionable employees and somewhat poor customer service. However, if future reviews indicate those problems have been resolved, I'd consider returning, as I frequent the Flagstaff area, particularly in summer." read more

Stayed August 2019 and overall I give it a Good! The cabins are adorable a little older and need minor touches that definitely need addressing. I did like that the mattresses had plastic this can help prevent certain things and bed bugs. The linen and towels were clean no stains! We stayed here because it was close to the hiking trail Humphreys Peak very convenient. The restaurant Omg! Has good food! I had the penne pasta with artichoke mushroom sun dried tomatoes and added chicken. The hamburger and fries are delicious too. Breakfast is excellent...homemade pancakes and the scrambled eggs cooked to perfection including the coffee. Our waitress was a doll very sweet and personal my compliments to her! After hiking all day she made our experience at the restaurant pleasant!! read more

While the Ski Lift Lodge & Cabins probably won't appeal to people who prefer a fancy hotel with upscale amenities, it is an excellent choice if you're looking for something with more character. I recently stayed two nights in one of the cabins. Although simply furnished, it was clean, comfortable and homey (the chair on each porch is a nice touch). The location is a few miles out of Flagstaff, but 10 extra minutes in the car gets you a whole lot o' quietude and natural beauty. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Both Scott in the office and the crew in the restaurant went out of their way to make my solo-traveling self feel welcome. Speaking of the restaurant, it's worth a try, especially since many of the selections are homemade. For example, I had a mixed berry turnover one night that made me question everything I thought I knew about dessert. On a personal note, I dig that they have recently taken on the care of a little found cat. This cat (they were debating on a name at the time of my stay) now hangs outside the restaurant and accepts lovin' from passerby. In my book, a friendly feline welcome wagon beats anything some swanky chain hotel can offer. read more

This place is amazing! The cabins are super cute and cozy with everything you need. The gentleman we checked in with, Rob, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We ended up watching a football game in the restaurant, the employees were super friendly! It's like one big family! The service was prompt and delicious! The employees were super attentive. The patio is dog friendly. It was so nice and convenient that we had lunch there again today. I'd like to keep this hidden gem for myself but the lodge is so much better than those big commercial hotel chains. We loved staying here! To have the "up north" feel this place is a great option, close to a lot of hiking trails and the snowbowl. read more

I always appreciate rustic lodging. But the cabins fell way below rustic standards. I would give this no stars but the staff are friendly, the on-site restaurant was good and had friendly staff but the actual cabins were a bad experience. Upon entering the room first thing was we saw sunlight all around the entry door. We could get past that BUT the bed duvet had stains (dog paws & something that we could not determine it's origin). The only thing the cabin had going for it, is the location and distance to Snowbowl Resort. Unfortunately the next time we are headed to Snowbowl, we will look for other lodging arrangements. read more

From my review as prompted by an email I received after staying: My husband and I were visiting arizona from Hawaii to see my family in Phoenix. It was our wish to stay in flagstaff one night to go to snowbowl and snowboard. My mother agreed to come with us to watch our 21 month old child. We used to go snowboarding every year at different places, but since my pregnancy two years ago, we missed a couple seasons-so we were very excited to be able to take this trip. We booked the most spacious accommodations, the closest that we could get to the slopes-Clark gable cabin at ski lift lodge. The cabin had plenty of room for us and the added amenity of an on-site bar and restaurant, which we were happy to utilize. The proximity was nice and gave us peace of mind, having our daughter and my mother nearby. Everything else about our visit was not acceptable and we ended up leaving early. The kitchen lacked utensils (spoons in particular, though other things there would not be enough for a longer visit) and the futon did not have linens, despite my reservation including a third adult. I was told I would have had to ask for the linens, prior to the front office closing (-after the fact. Why should I have to ask, when we clearly will need them for a third adult?). I did visit the front office at about five til closing time that first and only night, with the intention of getting linens, and found the office closed early. The heater/fireplace stove was a very nice feature, however; with the bedroom door closed to the family room where the futon was, the heat was insufficient in the bedroom. Our daughter, probably like most infants and toddlers, is dependent on a sleeping routine. We have to have lights off and noisemaker on for her to sleep through the night. That includes door shut to block out any outside noises, and it has to be early by adult standards (usually 7-8 pm). Since we were sharing our bed linens with the futon (for my mother), my husband and I were freezing until we reopened the door. The noise of the door opening (surprisingly loud, each time we used it) woke our child. Because it was so cold in the room, I decided to bring her into bed with us. She did not sleep and neither did we. Luckily, a bit later, I was able to put her back in the playpen with a my sweater to cover her (coverings Kind of a no-no before the age of two for safety reasons but we were desperate and we know she is mobile enough to avoid suffocation/strangulation) and she then fell back asleep. We kept the door cracked open for the rest of the night which helped with warmth but the sleep was intermittent as bathroom sharing (it was a master suite) was necessary. My mother also likes to watch tv late at night so she had to sacrifice this for us, with the door open. Most of these things could have been easily prevented if I just ponied up the money for two rooms, right? I thought 500 plus bucks for a one bedroom with a second separate sleeping area would have been sufficient. Our trip was already rather expensive, so it was hard for me to rationalize this ahead of our experience. I know better now. This place would be fine for 2-4 people who don't mind giving up a little privacy for comfort. We fixed the no spoon problem by nicking one from the complimentary breakfast the next morning. If it was just my husband and I, I doubt we would have complained or left early. I have a kid now though and my mother, almost in her 70s deserves better. We will not be returning. I would discourage anyone in a similar situation from staying as well. read more

We stayed here because of the reviews and pics and it was disgusting, disappointing and dirty. I wish we never would have stayed here. What sealed the deal was that it was pet friendly. $96 was too much for broken blinds, an old room that made me feel dirty and the worse continental breakfast ever. It was shameful. I don't want frozen donuts, green apples, or old bread for breakfast. Continental should include something hot. Yuck! Glad we carried bananas and granola bars. Don't stay here. read more

Well.....the side salad came out as a full salad. The vinegararette was primarily oil, the sun dried tomatoes were fresh tomatoes. All bearable. For being a ski place the prices are decent. Living in the desert it's obviously hot here in July so we decided to take a trip to Flagstaff. We went with this place because they are pet friendly, which is nice. Overall the room was decent, but definitely needed some updating. My back is still a bit sore from the bed, but then again that's probably the same with any hotel bed. The restaurant food was great, my husband and I both got burgers(different types) and they were delicious. When we first got to our room I went to the restroom to wash my hands and noticed there was toothpaste still in the sink from the people before us. This had me thinking, well what else wasn't cleaned? Last thing, they are pretty much impossible to get ahold of. We accidentally left some things hanging in the closet (totally our fault, not theirs) and I have been trying for 3 days now to find out what we need to do to get the stuff back and if they do for sure have it. Tried emailing, calling, leaving messages... no replies except from a front desk attendant who said she just started and thought she had our stuff and would speak to a manager... still no answers. read more

Any port in a storm, I've always heard. It's summertime in Arizona and there is a modest heat wave. I had no idea that this motel had no air conditioning. Checked in at 4 PM and searched the room for the AC unit. There was none to be found. The oscillating floor fan should have been my first clue. Have my thermometer with me and it is 88.7° in my room. I'm from Phoenix Arizona and have enough of the heat down there and was looking forward to flopping down in a nice cool room after being out in the heat all day. The only relief in sight that I can look forward to is that it will be cooling off in the evening and I can sleep with the door open if I want to - to enjoy a little refreshing night air. Critters and beasts be damned. I guess I should've paid more attention to the amenities provided at this motel, but come on, air-conditioning is a given in this day and age, especially in Arizona. Woo hoo! It's down to 87.4° inside and it's 4:30 PM. Stayed here last September expressly to ride the chairlift at the Arizona Snowbowl so I was not acutely aware of the absence of air conditioning. The caveat this summer is that the chairlift is not running due to a nearby forest fire. In all honesty I can say that I was aware of that before coming up here to this motel, but because of its close proximity to the chairlift I thought that it would offer a cooling respite after a day's activities in the area- sans the chairlift ride and that would count for something. read more

Very cozy place to stay. Driving In, you will notice they are very small cabins but once you enter one they are very spacey and comfy. My girlfriend and I went during winter for opening day at the snowbowl. It was very cold and lots of snow on the ground so I was worried about possibly being cold during sleep. When I entered the cabin they have a huge fire furnace in the corner that heats up the whole cabin into a sauna. The only rough thing are the beds. They definitely feel like pull out couch type beds, but all in all definitely worth the price if you are going to snowbowl. Other than that, I would not recommend staying just because it is not close to the the town. read more

Holy cow! Let me start by saying I didn't expect too much from this quaint little lodge restaurant but oh my was I pleasantly surprised! We are staying at the cabins they are so clean and adorable. We walked over for dinner last night and I had the chicken pot pie and my fiancé had a sirloin steak and we were both blown away! The chicken pot pie was made with a flakey buttery crust that was to die for and came with one of the best side salads I've ever had! My fiancé a steak was cooked perfectly to "mooing" as he calls it but it didn't even need any steak sauce it was so flavorful! We will definitely be back and we are so happy we found this little gem. I give 3 stars because the restaurant employees are nice and treated us well, and the guy who checked us in was also nice. The housekeepers were also very nice. That being said, there is a lady that works in the office that isn't very nice at all. We were there for 3 nights. We wanted to check out late on Sunday so we could go snowboarding before we left. We had pets so we couldn't take them with us so we asked about a late checkout, offered to pay extra for it. We wanted to leave at 3pm instead of 11am. The lady was not friendly about it and said "NO" Ok, fine. She said they were booked solid on Sunday and couldn't do it. I left it at that. The next day, I spoke to someone else, a new manager. I figured that maybe talking to someone else instead of the unfriendly lady might work. She seemed more accomodating and actually wanted to help me. She said she would look into it and call me back. She called me back and said that, unfortunately, we cannot let you check out late. Okay, I said. "Thank you for trying." Later that day, I noticed that the housekeepers were cleaning. It was 2:30 in the afternoon and they had not yet gotten to my room yet. I asked the housekeepers if there was anyway we could tip them to clean our room last so we could go snowboarding and check out late. They said they would ask. A few minutes later the housekeeper came back around and told us that the boss said, "NO". So they were very firm on not letting us check out late, even though not every tenant checks in right at 3 pm. We checked in at 8:30 PM when we arrived, so I figure many people check in late. They claimed that they needed to have EVERY ROOM cleaned and ready by 3pm and that's why they could not accommodate a late check out. I think that is a load of BULL. Not sure why they would not be flexible with us, even though we offered to pay extra for a late check out. For some reason, I thought they just wanted to be difficult. We ate at their restaurant once a day for three days, tipped appropriately, and cleaned up after our pets. I guess they just didn't like us. I went to check out and handed my key in. The manager took my key and said, "Checking out?" I said, "Yes." No thank you for staying with us, have a safe trip home, no nothing. Said absolutely nothing to me after staying for three nights. They seemed to be upset because I was persistent about asking for a late check out. What's the big deal? I wasn't rude to them, but they sure seemed to dislike me. Oh, well. Next time I'll go to Sunrise. I also notice that they don't respond to comments on Yelp. It's because they don't care. read more

We must have passed this place 100 times but never stopped. Today I'm glad we did! We ate on the patio (dog friendly) and enjoyed the breeze. The interior has that homey cabin charm. The tap beer selection is good for a small place. We split a Club Sandwich which may have been the tastiest I've had, from the nine grain bread to the flavored mayo, accompanied by crisp, nicely seasoned fries. I bet this places rocks after a day of skiing! read more

Will definitely be returning A friend from back east came to visit me in Tucson, we booked through Hotels.com because of it's location off of Hwy 180. We absolutely loved this place, and honestly I have been recommending it to any of my friends who may be traveling north. The room we stayed in was very simple for our needs. This is not a chain hotel with all the frills. We appreciated coming back here every day after our outdoor excursions. We also had an electric fireplace that we could control when it got chilly in our room at night. Bathroom was really nice, stand up shower could use some shelves. The staff was helpful and personable. Also, it's located about 12 minutes from downtown Flagstaff, which I loved, especially because of the stars at night. Convenient and well kept. All in all, I will definitely be returning to this place, maybe in the summer. read more

This is a great lodge and restaurant. We had a large group of motorcycle riders who stayed at the lodge. We had about 8 or 9 rooms. The rooms where great...nothing fancy but cute and clean. Little porches on cottages were fun to hang out on. What really set this place apart was the service. The front desk gal, the manager and the restaurant staff were awesome and very accommodating. We were a loud and rowdy group and could have easily just annoyed the staff. But, they were amazing. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I was really impressed by this lodge. It's in a quiet area but only 15 minutes from downtown. Great service, the room was clean upon arrival and during our stay fresh towels were provided promptly. The room has a space heater in addition to the stove. The complimentary breakfast was nice and had a lot of options. The restaurant staff is very welcoming.
