Sky Pavilion absolutely delivered. The fish was perfectly cooked, tender and flaky with a clean, fresh flavor that really stood out. You can tell they respect the ingredients and don't overcomplicate things. The broccoli was surprisingly memorable. Crisp, vibrant, and seasoned just right, it had that perfect balance where it still snaps but absorbs all the flavor. It's rare for a vegetable side to feel like a highlight, but this one did. And the sweet noodles were incredible. Lightly caramelized, slightly chewy, and packed with depth, they had that addictive quality where you keep going back for one more bite. Easily one of the best noodle dishes I've had in a long time. Everything tasted intentional and well executed. If you're going, don't skip the fish, the broccoli, or the sweet noodles. I'll definitely be back.

Steamed Whole Barramundi. S.P. Fun presentation. Tasty and lightly seasoned

General Review: Would recommend the Szechuan dishes more than the Cantonese place, which makes sense as they take up the majority of the large menu. I went to this place a while ago with a large group as part of many Chinese New Year celebrations I went to earlier in the year. The staff was friendly and pretty quick regarding refilling water or tea. I didn't bother with a drink, though some others had a beer or soft drink. For the location, I was surprised by how many Szechuan/Sichuan dishes were on the menu, with there also being Cantonese dishes, a couple of Shanghainese things, and a separate small section on the back for American Chinese food. We mostly got their specialty, Szechuan. The first thing that arrived was the Strange Peanuts for $7.95, soon after our host finished ordering. The word "strange" here refers to Guaiwei, a Szechuan mix of flavors and spices. The flavor on the outside of the peanuts included some sweetness, sourness, heat, and numbingness from peppercorn. It was tasty and addictive, and I could see myself munching on them while drinking or something similar. Another appetizer was the Mr and Mrs. Smith, or Ox Tongue & Beef Tripe in Spicy Sauce for $16.95. This popular Szechuan dish was served cold, as expected, and had a fun mix of textures. It was numbing and spicy, but not too much so, especially when added on top of rice. This was a good representation of this dish, and I would recommend it. There was also the $11.95 Preserved Egg With Green Pepper, which you can find in a small handful of places in the city. It was a bit less spicy than Szechuan Gourmet, but there were plenty of slightly funky century egg slices for the price, so I'm not complaining. The Cumin Lamb, for $16.95, was probably my favorite of the Szechuan mains. The lamb was tender, and it was a nice mix of spiciness and numbingness with plenty of cumin. Less cumin, but much spicier and numbing was the $29.95 Zigong Style Stir Fried Rabbit. This had many small pieces of rabbit along with a lot of bell peppers. The only issue with this dish was the plentiful bones, but this is expected with this dish. My least favorite was probably their take on Crispy Chili Chicken With Dough Twist. There was plenty of heat, but I prefer some other spots where you can taste the chicken better and where the breading has been lighter, such as either Peppercorn Station or Mountain House. My favorite of the non-spicy dishes was the Steamed Whole Barramundi, and as it was S.P, I don't know how much it cost. The fish had a fun presentation with a tiny figure catching fish, as well as a little sculpture made from a carrot, which looked like a pagoda. This had the typical Cantonese mix of soy sauce, ginger, and scallion, and the fish was steamed perfectly, being moist and tender. Of course, there were bones, but it was easy enough to eat around them. I also liked the $15.95 Sky Pavilion Fried Rice. The rice had some good wok hei, and there was a good mix of meat and vegetables inside. The Stir Fried Pea Shoots With Garlic for $20.95 were good also. I would prefer a bit more garlic, but it was cooked fine. Last and least favorite was the $14.95 Fried Rice Cake Shanghai Style. I found the texture a bit too soft compared to some of the better spots, and it was bland, even for this dish. There are many better places for this dish. Tasty place. Would go back and try more.

A very solid and delicious Szechuan place. Food was fast and tasty, restaurant was clean, and overall decent. The portion size is slightly small but that gives you room to order more :). Would recommend!

Certainly ranks among the best Chinese I've ever had. Great service. They accommodated 11 people easily and they gave us an extra sweet rice dumpling because one plate only had 5 each and we ordered two. Anyway, food was amazing. I ordered "dry stir fry chicken w/ pepper" and it was so spicy and amazing! This is very close to Port Authority and was very convenient for us. Great ambience too!

Really enjoyed our dinner at Sky Pavilion! The food was delicious and authentic, with great flavors and generous portions. Everything we ordered was well prepared, and the service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant also has a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a great spot for Chinese food in Midtown, and we would happily come back again!

Had a great dinner at Sky Pavilion! The food was authentic, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We especially loved the spicy stir-fried beef and the crispy popcorn-style dish--both were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The sautéed vegetables were fresh and balanced out the meal nicely. The service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Portions were generous and everything came out quickly. If you're looking for authentic Sichuan food in Midtown, this is definitely worth a visit. I'll definitely be back!

We stumbled upon this place randomly in Times Square and decided to give it a go. Frankly, a lot of the dishes remind me of Sichuan Mountain House - they hang the pork belly in the same style, with very similar props. The dishes were very solid, overall your standard Sichuan cuisine. What stood out the most was that each dish came with some cute and clever decorations - wooden boats, various small props, etc. It definitely felt like a cute mom and pop restaurant trying to make a good impression on customers. Overall I'd say it's a very standard Sichuan spot and the dishes are all as we expected. The only thing to note is that service was a tad slow even with there only being 3 occupied tables in the restaurant - perhaps we came at a slow time.

Came here with a group of 7 for a Saturday dinner. The interior is quite small and it was packed. We had to wait a while to be seated and served. The staff were friendly and helpful but they seem so busy all the time. We got 8 dishes to share. The grilled fish and the mapo tofu were a crowd favorite with the right amount of spice and flavor. Some other dishes esp a chicken soup dish with jalapeños is way too spicy and that overpowered everything else. The presentation is amazing and over the top but we loved it. The service is friendly and the food is authentically sichuan but the restaurant seems very understaffed. If they can improve on the service this place would be a solid addition to the Chinese food scene in nyc.

Hidden gem in Times Square! Very authentic Chinese cuisine with fair pricing and attentive service. Mapo Tofu ($18.95) - Absolutely loved it. Probably the best mapo tofu I've had, packed with flavor, a nice touch of mala spice, and perfectly balanced. I even asked for extra rice just because of this dish. Chinese Bacon with Cauliflower ($21.95) - Marinated pork belly stir-fried with cauliflower. Nothing too special, but the flavors worked well together. Cold Noodles ($9.95) - Sesame oil, soy sauce, and vinegar. Interesting combination, though not really my thing. Fried Rice Cake with Brown Sugar ($9.95) - Loved this dessert! Crispy fried mochi drizzled with brown sugar -- simple but so good. The menu is massive with 249 dishes in total! It's like a Chinese version of a diner menu. I'll need to study it before my next visit.

    Spicy pork feet.

Great Szechuan Restaurant In Unexpected Location Located just across the street from the 42nd Street Port Authority Bus Terminal, Sky Pavilion is one of the best szechuan restaurants in Manhattan. Lots of hard-to-fine, authentic dishes, and the heat level is for real. And as a pork feet aficionado, I appreciate they do spicy port feet three different ways!

Kung pao chicken Sichuan style. So, so good!

Never judge a book by its cover; from the outside, Sky Pavilion looks like a simple hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant; it is far from simple, and I cannot wait to return! I had the best kung pao chicken I've ever had -- I know it's not a traditional Sichuan dish, and that's what the restaurant is known for. But even with so-called "American" Chinese food menu offerings, there's the option to have it prepared a Sichuan style, which I did. So flavorful! My friend got the Sichuan pepper chicken, and a side of the sautéed pumpkin and loved them both. Agree with others who have commented on the service -- absolutely lovely. The restaurant is also fairly quiet -- and the other customers reflected the fact that it is an authentic Sichuan restaurant as opposed to catering to tourists.

This is the chicken Kung Pao it is $22 and doesn't come with rice. So $24 all things considered. Now you have to call them and tell them you want the king pao chinese style not American (Reddit user tip). Their version. Easy the spiciest I've ever had. Chicken is good but they crush you with chilis and peppercorns. I know I always complain about spice level But this was wild. And some bites were just chili peanuts and sauce. This is close to best in snow if it was just a little toned down but as is still a great representation of this dish. Just a little too pricey.

Amazing food quality and the staff was super friendly! On top of that the atmosphere and ambiance was fantastic! I'd highly recommend giving this place a chance.

I did not expect to find a sit down Cantonese & Sichuan Restaurant in the heart of Herald Square…read more For sure a hidden gem worth trying. Came here with two other friends for dinner and we pigged out. We started off with Scallion Pancake with Shredded Duck ($15), which tasted amazing. The pancake was flaky and not overly soaked in oil, while the duck meat enhanced the taste. I think everything should order this for the table. We also got the Dan Dan Noodles w Minced Pork ($8), which is a staple dish in Sichuan cuisine. Make sure you stir the bowl to mix the sauce and minced pork. For veggies, we got the Sautéed Green Beans With Eggplant ($18), which tasted great. I usually get sautéed pea shoots for a veggie dish, but this was worth ordering as the eggplant tasted great along with the green beans. For entrees, we got the Spicy Green Pepper Fish Filet ($28 for filet). A classic Cantonese dish that comes with bok choy, so it turns out I didn't really need to order a veggie dish. Delicious. We also tried the OOHU Mao Xue Wang ($34), which may be one of the most spiciest dish available on the menu. This dish combines blood curd from a duck, tripe, and chicken gizzards along with other organs into a simmered broth containing chilis and peppercorns. They also use spam, vermicelli noodles, mushroom, and other things. If you're adventurous and you like spicy, I would recommend this. Best eaten with a cup of rice. Service is great as our server made good recommends and was overall friendly. They also have a party room you can book, which sounded pretty affordable. Don't recall what their minimum spend was, but it was super reasonable compared to a lot of other spots in Chinatown and Flushing.

We ordered multiple dishes which came out one after the other. Some of the standouts for me were the Pork Intestine Dry Pot ($20.95), Crispy Tofu with Salty Egg Yolk ($23.95), and Sauteed String Beans ($16.95). Many spicy food options since this is a Szechuan spot afterall. Some dishes were a bit too salty and spicy, which they did discount after we brought it to their attention. Overall, decent spot and good for large groups. Otherwise, I didn't find this spot to be too memorable (not bad, not great).

We got one white and one purple rice. Second visit.. Pork dumplings with chili oil - 3 stars - dumplings were okay, chili oil was good. Used the oil on other dishes.. we preferred the wonton soup. Lobster with ginger and scallions - 4 stars - Cantonese lobster dish that I've had countless of times. Ok. Mapo tofu - 4 stars - I don't care for tofu but L loved this dish.. even asked for a fork so he could pick up the tofu faster. Kung fu shrimp - 4 stars - fried shrimp in shell with a lot of chili peppers. Brought half of it home and added my own colossal shrimp to it and it was delicious. My shrimp was better but the chili peppers made them even more flavorful. My favorite dish was still the beef tendon and I should've ordered it again on my second visit but we wanted to try different things. Place was always packed but we never had to wait long for a table. Service was great. Refilled our waters and changed our plates when they noticed lobster shells were piling up.
