This is a very classic diner, and was a great pick-me-up for me during my stay at the local university. The waitstaff are very friendly and eager to help you, and the food is delicious! We ended up at the Skylark Diner because we were meeting our boy, as he traveled back South. It's an old school diner with good comfort food. I had french toast, bacon and hash browns. French toast was good and they gave me almost too much bacon. Not that I'm complaining. The hash brown was a pre-made patty, like from McDonald's. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't the quality of the rest of the food. The highlight of the meal was our waitress. I didn't catch her name but she was great! My sister and I stopped here for first time in November and have to say we agree with reviews. Food was great and staff was wonderful and friendly. My husband and I ate there last night and were extremely disappointed. My plate had food caked on it and the waitress tried to tell me it was juice from the tomato in my salad. If that was the case it would have wiped right off, which it didn't. It was hardened onto the plate. They did bring my food on a new plate. but did not remake the salad, just dumped it from one dish to another. No apologies, no discount and charged us full price for everything. We hadn't been there in many months because of low quality food and poor service and it has not improved. We will not be going back. read more

I really wanted to love the place after reading all the good reviews. The staff was very nice and the atmosphere was great. But the most important thing, the food was terrible. Everything we tried, pancakes, waffles, and eggs were all so bland and had no flavors. Even the "maple syrup" was so bad. The scrambled egg I ordered was like a sad omelet. They must use the cheapest ingredients ever from Walmart. Seriously anything you make at home tastes 100 times better than this place. Do not waste your money and time. read more

The best strawberry shortcake ever! Friendly people and great service.

My wife and I stopped in the early evening and were greeted in a friendly way by Robin our waitress who said "sit where ever you want..." The tables were clean and the interior was very clean everywhere. Robin came quickly and asked for drinks as she brought us our menus. We ordered from the menu, beef liver and onions, with sweet potato fries and pickled beets for me and a salad and spaghetti and two huge meat balls for my wife. The liver was cooked just as I requested, just barely heated through in the middle and the spaghetti sauce actually had a few chunks of tomato in ii. All the food appeared to be prepared and cooked right at the diner. For example, the pickled beets still had the spices in them and probably never saw a can. read more

Wanted diner food after a show in Binghamton, could not find a 24 hour one, until we went to vestal, ny to find skylark. My husband and I got cheese burgers with disco fries and slaw. They were awesome. Our waitress so so nice and the kicker 16.95 for the both of us. Will definitely go back. read more

This place has gone way downhill. I think people keep coming back because the prices are in-expensive and many people around here would rather just pay less for sub-par food. The pancakes used to be good; now they have the consistency of marshmallow. I keep trying them, but they are so darn chewy and tough. Sunday was the last straw. Tried the chicken and biscuits special and the "gravy" tasted like straight lard. Thick like starch and zero flavor. Said it was homemade. If so, someone doesn't know how to make gravy. You know what gravy is like when it's been in the fridge? That's what this was like except it was hot. The local legion serves gourmet chicken and biscuits compared to this. We all had fries and we couldn't eat them because they were so bitter from old oil. Friend had a burger and it was mush and flavorless. Last time I got scrambled eggs and they were just fried eggs chopped up thin and dried out, not nice and fluffy the way they should be. Got take out awhile back an threw it all in the garbage because it was awful. Done giving this place a second, third, fourth chance. read more

Skylark Diner is a great place to go, at any time, no matter what you're craving! The diner is located in the middle of Vestal right off of the highway and is open every day, all day, with the exception of Sundays when they close at 8 p.m. The menu gives you so many different options to choose from without overwhelming you. I have found that their food is good at any time of the day, whether it be 2 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning. I particularly enjoy their french fries and I wouldn't hesitate to say that they are the best fries I've ever had. The service, along with the food, is also five-star worthy! The waitresses tend to you quickly and make sure that you have your food shortly after they put your order in. I have been to Skylark multiple times and am always welcomed with warm smiles and positive attitudes. My waitresses always make sure that I have everything I need whether it be ketchup or a re-fill on water. Overall, I really enjoy every aspect of the diner when I'm there. read more

I have been going to the Skylark restaurant for some time with my husband.The food was great,but lately it HASN'T been! It was late at night an we hadn't eatten so we stopped at the Skylark to get a bite to eat.The waittresss was rude, she actted like she wantted to go home,the food was over cooked!! Didn't say anything cause of the way she was actting!! Didn't want her to spit in our food.!!!.And the waitresses are not like they use to be!!!!.One that giggles very LOUD (frostbit short hair) was kind of snotty when I asked her to go stir the cottage cheese cause she brought out a bowl that had a LOT of liquid in it.And another waitress, the all blonde that has a heavy set husband and a little boy.Well she is too flirtty to be a waittres!! You DON'T come on to a customer in front of the wife and touch the husband in any way or form!!! Waittresses have NO RIGHT touching the customers !!
