The fried pickles are just that...fried PICKLES...not little bitty chips...big old "I thought you said you liked pickles" spears! Great service, food came out when each item was ready, speedy bar service and easy order from your table. In the era where wait staff are hard to come by, they have their system down! Had lunch at this delightful place on a weekday a couple of weeks ago. My first visit to Slapfish and to the Fishers District as well. Both were a really good experience! Slapfish is obviously known for its fish and seafood. I had the Power Bowl. The restaurant itself is composed of an Ordering Counter and then self serve drink bar. You place your order and are given the numbered stand and you pick a table and your food is delivered. The Counter Staff were nice and cordial, the food prep was efficient and the delivery time was quick. The food itself was really fresh and tasty. Every amazing date night must end with an amazing dinner. Luckily, we were in the area and had to check out this location of Slapfish. We have been to the location on Mass Ave, but I wanted to check out this location to see how it compares. Right off the bat, the parking was a bit tricky. It's the same way at the downtown location so at least we were anticipating it. We ended up parking in the garage attached. The major difference between locations is that this is a full-service restaurant complete with a host stand and servers. When we got to the host stand, we were told it would be a 30-minute wait, or we could sit at the bar right then. We chose to sit at the bar since we were pretty hungry! I was expecting to not love that experience since we wouldn't be facing each other, but I was so pleased with the coziness of sitting next to each other at the bar! We both ordered a Kona Big Wave beer (one of our go-to beers). I usually order a locally-made beer when I go out, but Slapfish doesn't have many (if any) local beers on draft. Nonetheless, it was a tasty brew! For dinner, I ordered an Epic Shrimp Burrito. I always ask the Downtown location to make it as a bowl instead of a burrito just because the tortilla is a bit overpowering. I asked for it to be made as a bowl this time. Unfortunately, the kitchen made an error and it came out as a burrito. The bartender asked if I wanted it remade or wanted a bowl to eat it out of and I assured him that it was okay! I wasn't upset about the mistake! It was still just as delicious as it always is! Their special sauce is incredible, and their shrimp is as fresh as you can get it so far from the ocean. My fiance ordered the Power Bowl. OMG, he was impressed! I took a bite of the Mahi Mahi and it was amazing. I don't know what all was in it, but for sure there was shrimp, mahi mahi, maybe salmon, and eggs. That is an abundance of protein! It was on top of a seasoned rice and also had avocado and pumpkin seeds with a poppyseed dressing alongside the dish. I think his dish was the best value considering how much protein made up the dish. He was extremely pleased with it. We had a great time and look forward to our next visit! read more

My friends and I decided on Slapfish for dinner. We ordered some Poke and Chips and Ceviche to start. They are both served with the same chips (has a bit of a seasoning on it). We liked the Ceviche more than the Poke but only because the Poke was a little on the sweeter side. I ordered the Lobster Grinder and my husband had the Fish and Chips. The Lobster Grinder was delicious! I am not the biggest fan of lobster so this was a perfect fit for me - it's a combination of lobster, shrimp, and crab and the spicy aioli brought everything together so well. The fish and chips were okay, but nothing special. Our server was fun and overall, they have an under the sea concept for the restaurant - lots of blue and sea-related decor and paintings. I've been to the Westfield one before and it's my first time here. I ordered take away this time. I got a bowl of lobster bisque and the fresh cut fries. The total before tip was $17. I do have to say when I got home and saw the bowl size I was severely disappointed it's a cup size anywhere else and it was $12. I know it's lobster but that to me is not bowl size. Now once I got into to it the bisque was amazing! Super creamy with huge chunks of lobster. The fries were ok, they have a seasoning on them that helps them taste better but the dipping sauce that came with them was horrible and they don't seem fresh cut to me. I've been to the other slapfish locations in the Indy area but this was my first time at the Fishers spot. My husband and I decided to have a nice date night last weekend and I was easily able to make a reservation using OpenTable! We got there a little early and asked to sit outside, in their small four table space. The inside was clean and modern and even allowed for indoor/outdoor space with a large window being open. I love that there is a Slapfish on the north side of indianapolis, and it is just as good as the Mass Ave location. I appreciate that Slapfish has a relaxed feel, but the food is high quality and has a beautiful presentation. We stopped in for Saturday lunch, and I learned that they even have a brunch menu. I've still not had the opportunity to try the Slapfish up in Carmel, so I was excited to try the one close to my home. Tiny restaurant front in Fishers at the Yard compound. Fantastic fried fish! The batter was so light and crispy. It just wasn't very big for 14.00 and one of the pieces of my fish had a huge cartilage rib in it, which was inedible. The French fries were okay. I thought they were covered in Old Bay at first glance but I'm not sure if it was Old Bay mixed with paprika or some other spice but the flavor was a little off to me. The shrimp burrito was fine but super messy the way it was served. Hubs said it was filling but not very much shrimp in it and it was a bit chewy. The beers were cold and the service was good. It's a cute breezy space with tall ceilings. 2 entrees, 2 beers with tip was over $60 and no leftovers to take home. I was excited to see Slapfish come to my neighborhood since the Noblesville and Downtown locations are far enough away that it's not a convenient option when I'm in hangry mode. I did a carryout order last Friday night, and it was ready on arrival. The food was nicely packaged with the warm and cold ingredients packed separately which I appreciated.
