The food was cold and for the price there is not enough of it. I will never use Slim's chickens again. This is completely awful.

It's time to raise my rating after many visits. I have become enamored with their healthy grilled chicken salad ($8.99 with drink before discounts), and its good variety of fresh veggies, and the generous portion of tasty, moist, grilled chicken. I like the 10:30 am opening time, the friendly and efficient staff at the counter, and the clean and spacious dining area with TVs and background music. Frequent app offers (like 15% off on Royals game days) help to keep the price reasonable, with easy online ordering. They also offer a drive-thru and a spacious patio. Very nice.

Tried Slim Chickens again for lunch today. I know several places are hurting for good help right now. However, the wait today was approximately 25 minutes. Unacceptable for a fast food place. I did appreciate that they allowed dine in eating. The food was ok but can't go back with wait times like this.

My wife received a coupon in the mail for her birthday to the (relatively) new Slim Chickens, so we decided to drop in and give it a try! We had a fantastic experience from the word "go"! Our order taker was very, very good and helpful. We let her know it was our first time, and she took some time to help us through a thorough and satisfying order of perfect proportions. My wife ordered the Slim Plate, I got the chicken and waffle, and, upon the advice of the aforementioned order-taking engineer, we ordered a large mac and cheese side to split for our kids. Everything was a major hit! We were told the large mac and cheese was enough of a helping for the kids to fill up on the one order, but in practice, it was waaaaay more than enough! Mom and dad *might* have both had a half-dozen bites of it as well. It was some SERIOUS mac and cheese! I'll probably even go so far as to say it's the best fast food or fast-casual mac and cheese I've ever experienced! My chicken and waffles was AWESOME, and since that's one of my favorite meals, it's going to be difficult for me to restrain from picking it up at least once a week! (Hey - who doesn't like a completely valid excuse to have waffles and syrup for a meal other than breakfast??!?!?) They have a lot of drink options, including multiple types of tea, which I very much appreciated. Also, there is extra syrup, sauces and other condiments on hand. Which reminds me - they also have an awesome assortment of dipping sauces available for any chicken dish you order. And, as followers of my Yelpography (all four of you!) will know - I am BIG on my sauces! Suffice to say the birthday coupon did its job - we're now big fans and will be back! The wings uncovered with no sauce... not something to be tried.

The food is overpriced for its quality and quantity. I recommend a trip elsewhere. The wings without sauce are not worth a purchase and the wraps are rather small. I've been here three time now and disappointed each time. This time their computer systems were acting up.

    8 piece wing meal

Got the 8 wing meal (mango habanero) with ranch dipping sauce and fries. The wait in the drive through is long. It took 15 minutes to receive my food--I probably should have just ordered inside to save gas. The meal came with a slice of toast. The toast was fantastic, slightly crunchy on the toasted sides and so soft on the inside. I think they used a garlic oil when toasting. Fries were well seasoned and the ranch was buttermilk, so yummy. The wings, however, were not nearly as good. The meat was dry, and the skin on the meat was difficult to chew. For it being a chicken place, the chicken was definitely forgettable.

    Large Mac n cheese. Skimped.

It's also fun to try to stop the clock on exactly 10:00 which will get you a free meal. I stopped it at 10:04. I lost but I was the closest of the others I saw try while I was there. lol You can order, online, at the kiosk right inside the front door, or at the register. I got the large (20 piece) chicken nugget. There's not a lot of price difference in the smallest and largest so I went with the largest, it's plenty and I had over 3 meals. It comes with a side and I chose getting the waffle! Yum. The nuggets are juicy and flavorful. The waffle was also terrific. 2 of my family had wings and the other had Asian Chili loaded fries. I'm not a fan of wings but I tasted the Asian chili fries and they were tasty! The prices are very reasonable for what you get and all the employees were very nice. We will definitely be going back!!

The scampi had a generous portion of good size shrimp. The pork chop was very thick and large yet was very flavorful and tender. The pork chop came with mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables. However, in looking over the menu I saw they had a variety of sides. I asked if I could change me sides, which they were more than glad to do. I got the carrots and the cornbread. The carrots were delicious and there was a lot of them. The cornbread tasted good but was a little dry. Next time I would stay with the carrots but try something else. As I said the pork chop was very big and I took about half of it home. When I placed my order the waiter asked if I wanted to order a second pork chop, which I passed on. However, next time I may take him up on the offer and have an additional one to take home. All around I give it 5 stars. Also, we asked about desert. There was no desert menu nor a desert tray to help us make a decision. The waiter did rattle off the desert options, however this was kind of busy to follow. A desert menu or try would certainly go a lot further, as far as we are concerned. In summary, the food was outstanding, the service was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant.

For our drinks we orders 'Have a Cigar' and a low sugar mocktail they created for me. Both were made very well and were super refreshing. For our mains, we ordered, 'Black Cardamon Burnt ends', 'Tandoori Chicken' and 'Smash burger with peri peri fries' and for desert we ordered the parle g mango ice-cream' sandwich with some aromatic chai. My most favorite dish out of all were the burnt ends - they had a superb fusion flavor of Indian spices which went well with the meat and paired well with the grits. Trust me when i say this that i would eat this everyday for the rest of my life if i could. The smash burger and peri peri fries were excellent and definitely hit the spot. The real disappointed was with Tandoori chicken. I felt the chicken did not pair well with the sambar risotto and the fried okra even though it tasted good, was an after thought. The rice in the risotto was very grainy and undercooked. I told that to our server and they instantly apologized and acknowledged the issue and also proceeded to remove the dish from our bill. After that the chai was very warm and comforting and the parle g ice-cream biscuits were nostalgic and a great way to finish the meal. While not every dish was perfect, i love the excellent customer service they provided and the way the owner/manager/staff handled our feedback. I will be back to try more food here - 5/5.

We were seated on time at a table next to the bar-side of the dining room. Speaking of the dining room, it's a nice, if standard size for a strip-mall space, but I really appreciated that the tables were not stacked on top of each other, as seems to be the case at more and more places these days. It felt like there might be some chance of our entire conversation not being completely overheard by our neighbors, which was nice for a change! Our waitress was fantastic! She walked us through the menu, the restaurant's approach to cooking and seasonality, some of her faves, and made wonderful recommendations! We decided to split a few small plates, which was a great approach! We got to try about 1/3 of the small plate menu, and loved it all! It was all great, but the Black Cardamom Burnt Ends are NOT to be missed! It made my cardamom-loving, Midwest soul very, very happy indeed! The space is a really nice size - not massive or overwhelming - and with the shades drawn down (to seal out the late afternoon sun, thank goodness!) and dim lighting, the mood vibes were solid for a romantic anniversary dinner! The other ambiance item of note is that the restroom corridor smelled absolutely fantastic! Upon investigation, it was due to a burning candle from a lovely local-KC company that was custom made for the restaurant! Yes, they're for sale, and yes, we picked up two! While everything was lovely and the food was very good, you're definitely paying a high price for it. Not that it's not deserved, but the "value" feels aren't necessarily "off the charts", by any means. And that is really my only critique, if there is any at all! For dinner we shared a wedge salad, their mashed potatoes, asparagus (a must!), and their tomahawk steak! Instead of doing three separate steaks we did the one and it was a perfect size for all of us to share! The steak was tender and well seasoned, mashed potatoes creamy, and the asparagus was prepared in a way we hadn't had before - highly recommend! We also had their dessert lemon meringue pie and coconut cream pie! Really really good! Wine options: amazing! Bourbon options: classy! We couldn't give it five stars for two main reason: 1. We made a reservation for 7pm, arrived and check in at 6:50 and still had to wait just over 30 minutes to be seated. We learned that walk-ins had been seated ahead of us so we needed to wait for some tables to leave before we could be seated. This was a bit surprising. We understand waiting a few minutes, but 30 min is not okay. 2. The sweet server assisting us for dinner was in training and we learned from her "trainer" that she wouldn't be getting any of the tips from our dinner. Additionally, the "trainer" came over around 830 to tell us that although it was only three of us that gratuity is automatically included. Very odd that we were told these things during our meal. The server being trained should absolutely get a portion of the tips - we hope restaurant management reconsiders their policy on this especially since we hardly saw her "trainer". We normally tip over the 20% but because the trainer didn't get any of our tips, we opted to not increase the tip that was automatically charged to us. All in all really classy restaurant and food was delicious! We'll be back for sure!

Overpriced chicken, a stellar mushroom side, and an aggressive exit strategy…read more After some custom cocktails nearby, our famished group headed to Rye for some dinner and dessert. The space was nice and clean, but unfortunately, the service and the "famous" main course didn't quite deliver a stellar performance. Our table was split--some wanted dinner, some wanted dessert. This apparently threw our waiter into a state of deep existential confusion. The Food: I ordered their "famous" fried chicken, customizing it to three thighs (which came with homemade pickles and a fantastic ham gravy). For $24, it wasn't bad, but it's definitely not "famous" for flavor--maybe just famous for the price tag. Honestly, I could have filled up at Popeyes for a fraction of the cost. Surprisingly, the absolute star of my meal was the side of sautéed mushrooms. It came with little pearl onions, shallots, and green peas. I topped it with some of my friend's arugula to make it fancy, and it was delicious. The Service (or lack thereof): Here's where it went downhill. The dessert order became a saga. Those who ordered sweets expected them to arrive with the mains, but we had to ask several times just to get them toward the end of the meal. By the end, our waiter seemed completely frustrated with our existence. He aggressively boxed up the remaining desserts and semi-forcefully shoved the credit card machine into our faces to shuffle us out the door. Great mushrooms, aggressive math at the end. Proceed with caution.
