The veggie burrito was incredibly bland, and what hipster joint doesn't have avocado, come on that's like your one thing. The cinnamon roll was burnt to a crisp and tasted like play dough. We were told the patio was closed despite 10+ people eating takeout out there. The side of "Mexican rice" was just rice pilaf with some baby corn lmao. And charging a "healthcare fee" is just laughable. Overall Clark St could use another taco joint, this place is terrible :) read more

I wanted to like this place... I tried hard to like this place, but I just couldn't. We tried their donut boat - 3 pieces of donuts that are supposed to be cake, but we're kind of rubbery, flavorless, and blah. I love carbs, I love fried anything, but I ate about 1/3 of it and threw away the rest. I got a latte and coffee for my other half, it was too acidic tasting. Biscuits and wonderful service from the crew are the only things that's getting this place 3-stars. We ended up stopping at another place on our way to get our coffee fix. read more

Love this place! My boyfriend and I came on a Sunday morning and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. He got the Bestest Seller and I got the Indian Omelet sandwich on Texas toast (a special) as well as the vegan Thai iced tea. Both sandwiches were super tasty and perfectly warm. We will be back! The food is always great at this place I have ordered sever times from here usually grub hub and it's always consistent and fresh. And I love the little note the restaurant puts on the bag, just brightens up the day.. one of my personal favorites items on the menu is the banana bread and their donuts...so fresh and so flavorful.. not overly sugary just right and has the perfect amount of sugar. The Pizzas are amazing my favorite is the vegan pizza and I am not even vegan, I have tried all the sandwiches and they are just so good and delicious. I recently tried their bagel with smoked salmon and it's so fresh. My kids hate salmon but love the bagel with smoked salmon.. everything here is fresh and really delicious. I have been to the restaurant once and the staff is really courteous and friendly.. definitely a great spot to grab a cup of coffee and a sandwich. read more

I love this place! It's such a cute little cafe right smack dab in west Rogers Park. It's perfect to grab an amazing latte, cappuccino or whatever coffee you like. They play great music inside and it's just an amazing vibe! Food wise they got you covered! They have some really interesting doughnuts that come in these crazy flavors! On my visit, I saw a cold brew doughnut that was vegan! I wish I would have tried it but it look bomb! I decided to order their popular breakfast sandwich, it's called the best seller. It was amazing and monstrous! It is very much worth the 9 bucks because of the time, amount of layers of flavor that go into that sandwich. On top of it, you will be full ALL day--I'm not even kidding. It's not greasy at all or dripping with sausage juice where you need 10 napkins to eat. You will need elbow room though because it's so big. You need that sandwich and a nice cup of coffee to start your day. read more

Exceptional EVERYTHING! The lovely folks at this hidden gem create magical, luscious foods, including vegan and gluten free options. I had the most delicious breakfast sandwich with sauteed kale, eggs, fresh toasted sourdough bread .. it was fab! Equally fab is the staff. They could not be sweeter! I left my credit card in the machine and went outside to wait for our food. They realized this, grabbed the credit card and kept it safe until I entered for our food. How amazing is that? I love everything about Smack Dab. I've been going since the beginning to the standalone & the pop-up. -(Rip for now to the latter.) The food is incredible & made with love. I especially love their biscuits & quiche, (so. many. choices.) but I've recently discovered their dinner time pizza on the weekends & I was blown away. Some of the best pizza I've ever had! That's saying A LOT. They also make really unique & fun donuts. (Piña Colada, Coffee etc.) Oh & they are not your traditional donut which is a plus due to them lasting well over a day on the freshness. Not to mention we've scored many a free donut upon leaving if they have too many. They do not like waste! Gotta love that. Anyway, I've also become obsessed with their coffee drinks & I'm not even a huge fan of coffee! They are delicious! Every one I've tried. The employees & owners are also exceptional folks. Incredible food and service...best gluten free pizza & cookies in Chicago! One time one of the employees left a no-contact order at my door and let me know that the lemonade was left out and they were gonna go get it ... I figured it was in the car, but turns out they drove all the way back to smack dab and back to bring me a lemonade!! I love this place! I went for the first time this morning and was warmly welcomed into their space. They have fresh made donuts and biscuits, an assortment of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options! Their food looks amazing, but I just got a latte this morning. Tried oat milk for the first time and it was delicious! I live walking distance from this place, but so rarely make it before they close at 1 pm! Definitely worth the trip. Food quality is superb, however very overpriced. I understand this is a small business in the neighborhood and everyone needs to make money but your food costs are not that high (Especially with donations of food from other organizations) to be charging $11 for a breakfast sandwich especially in the Rogers Park area. Its mainly a low income area. They do things for the community which is great like host a free dinner etc, but I am just not okay with the pricing here personally. Apparently Vegans are rich? This was the most AMAZING GLUTEN FREE BREAKFAST SAMMY I have ever had. One of the saddest parts of being gluten free is not having a lot of options for breakfast sandwiches, and I got the gluten free cheddar chive corn bread with eggs and the chive mayo and it was so good.
