I was so excited to check this place out.. I was very underwhelmed... The service was poor, she checked on our table once and the establishment wasn't even busy. The server had said "Would you like to start with a drink? We have bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Mary's" We ordered the Bloody and had another when she finally came back and we were ready to leave (figured may as well have another since bottomless). When we received the bill, we were charged for 2 Bloody's. The Bloody's were not bottomless, only the Mimosas.... Always a good idea to distinguish and not lump it together, nice sales tactic to use a coma and not a period... The food was meh, not what the prices reflect at all. To top it off, we were charged a wellness fee. When I asked what that was for, her reply was "well because of covid, to support the back team, so we charge that. Most places in Minneapolis do. And that's not part of my tip, just so you know". Um, I didn't see any extra precautions being implemented to charge this extra fee. Nor was I informed prior.. Just a bad experience overall. I placed an order for pick up. I have ordered the Poke bowl many times in the past and it was fabulous and filling. My recent order was 6 bites of seasoned tuna and yam chips for $18!! The gal that answered the phone stated the menu changed recently. I asked to speak to a manager. I was put on hold for 5 minutes. I hung up and called back and then was told the manager was in a meeting and would call me back. I did not receive a call. Stopped for lunch on a Saturday. Wife and I each ordered lobster rolls and my son ordered a piece of salmon. All of us thought the same thing - food was good, but nothing we'd drive across town for again, especially at $150 out the door. Sure, it's lobster, but at $150, I can make some sacrifices and just grab burgers down the street at 1/3 the price. This is not just the best restaurant in Bloomington, not just the best seafood restaurant in mn, but the best restaurant in the Midwest! To start, we had wings which were very good. Then i had the burger and my friend had a half rack of ribs. Both were superb. I highly recommend the burger. It is to die for. The ribs were very tender and easily fell off the bone. I am starting to wonder if the purveyors of Smack Shack have ever been to Connecticut. I grew up in Connecticut and while this lobster roll was OK, it did not measure up to a true Connecticut lobster roll - a real Connecticut lobster roll doesn't have any lettuce or garnishments- It is simply a hot heavily buttered and grilled roll with tons of very hot lobster placed inside, allowing the roll to butter the lobster. I also had the collard greens instead of fries, which could really use more southern seasoning. I would suggest that the owners make a trip to visit the Lobster Hut food truck on Rt 1 in Milford, Connecticut for a sample of a true and honest lobster roll- your lives and menu will be changed forever. read more

Have been coming here on a weekly basis for months and it is the best service, best quality of food and drinks there is the Bloomington/Edina area. I have been hearing about Smack Shack for years and was anxious to try it when I had lunch last week with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. Atmosphere was cool, a nice transformation of the Fuddruckers it was! We were seated outside on a cool day in the shade. The sunny part was not open for seating but the kind server happily allowed us to move to the sunny spot out of her way. Her service overall was excellent. Food on the other hand was hit and miss. We had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer which were crispy and tangy and pretty tasty. The shrimp and grits I had, which the server was pretty enthusiastic about, was incredibly bland. I think tails on shrimp are cool but when they are dunked in grits I had to pull them out by hand and pick them off which was a little messy and weird. Moreover though, there was NO flavor in any of it. I am not a huge salt guy, but had to salt them twice. Then added pepper. Then poured on a generous amount of hot sauce, then it again... and the grits especially, still tasted almost like nothing. It was a big portion, I brought some home and hoped with time the flavors would meld and improve, but it was just as bland next day. Price point was moderate to high and I guess with the bland shrimp and grits, it ultimately felt pretty over priced for two lunch entrees and appetizer and two sodas, with tip was over a hundred bucks. read more

Terrible experience. Showed up for our reservation on a Monday night at 6 pm. Place 1/2 empty, it a Monday but also restaurant week. Took a while seating us and hostess said she would bring restaurant week menus which she never did. Took a while to get the menus and a while for the server to show up. We ordered a couple beers and then ordered our food. I had off of the restaurant week the Lobster Guac and the upgraded Lober roll. My wife didnt want anything off that menu and ordered the Lobster Mac to start and a fried chicken sandwich. The apps took a very long time to get but they tasted good, nothing special, but good. Then it took a while longer for our food to come out, they brought my lobster roll and they brought for my wife jambalaya and a salad both which she didnt order. The guy bringing it to us argued that that was our food when it wasnt. Then the server came over and said he screwed up the order and will get out the chicken sandwich immediately. It took approximately 45 minutes to get the chicken sandwich, i was done with my meal and my wife was so fed up and mad she didnt want it. We told him 20 minutes before he brought it we didnt want it but he insisted on bringing it and said we wouldnt be charged for it (hahaha like i was going to pay for that anyways). He brought us a box for us to box it up ourselves to take it with us, but we left it there as now we have been at the restaurant for just over TWO HOURS. Life too short to put up with this crap. To make matters worse we saw him tell the manager Chelsea about the issue earlier in the evening and one would think she would have come over to apologize or try to make things right, Chelsea didnt do anything. We also discussed with the server that we saw him talk w Chelsea and she should have come over and he did say he alerted her to the problem. OBVIOUSLY MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS, otherwise Chelsea would have tried to make it right. This has to be the absolute worst managed restaurant in the twin cities. Terrible experience: A mid-afternoon lunch was taken here receiving poor & disturbing service: The server showed a disrespectful indifference to us throughout the meal (and to another small table gathering nearby). At one point, the woman server, notably absent, was seen standing in the adjoining room eating. Afterward, with numerousl attempts to call her attention for the bill, she plainly ignored us thar required a progressive raising of my voice. Our tip pointedly reflected our customer dissatisfaction. We ordered the crab-roll sandwich reflecting modest preparation quality. (This sandwich was reminiscent of a distant creation originated by Jacques Pepin, then the executive chief at Howard Johnsons restaurants. It's worth noting that he was, prior, the personal chef to the Franch president.) For all the advert (in media and YouTube) hype of this newly opened restaurant, we might fairly suggest the further customer comments of others. Hopefully, our experience was a one-off. So disappointed .. went out to celebrate our anniversary.. ordered our food and beverages. Got salad first, I ordered the wedge salad and asked for extra dressing my husband asked for extra dressing also for his Caesar salad. My salad was nasty. It was not cooked all the way.. so I tried the claw meat and it was just as bad.. i am looking for our server and couldn't find her. I said to my husband I will eat the potatoes and forget the corn it was to spicy, it had orange spice all over it.. i said to my husband I'm over it.. I will just take it back to the hotel room and cook it there. A manager walked by a asks how everything was. I said not so good with raw lobster and nasty salad. He said oh.. and just kept walking.. so I guess he didn't care.. We were there close to two hours.. not good.. we kept asking our server for a go box and our bill..it took her 20 minutes!! That was a bit much. She brought a box and walked away.. i put my potato's in a the other pieces of lobster.. then she came with the bill, i gave everything to my husband after i signed it and said you finish it because I would leave her a tip. There was no real service from her.. we finally left went back to our hotel room. As i was sitting there I looked at our receipt I just about lost my mind.. couldn't believe all the extra charges!! When I asked for extra salad dressing and my husband asked for extra dressing we were charged.. then my drawn butter and my husband's tartar sauce. And he had ordered ice tea and was charged for his refill.. wow what a shame they fill it necessary to charge for things your meal should come with. Two of us over $150.00 thats a bit much.. so rotten lettuce and uncooked food and extra charges. 1st night there the lobster in my lobster boil was overcooked and rubbery. Realized that it could've just been an off night. Went back a couple of days later. Got a lobster roll this time. Lobster was still overcooked and rubbery. Husband had the stuffed salmon. We have both had far tastier salmon than what he got. The food should be far better for the prices they are charging. This place is an absolute gong show. Upon entering, we were told to hurry because there was a larger party coming 2 hours after our reservation. My party didn't get their drinks until 45 minutes after seating - one was an hour late (iron butterfly) and was not comped. While making a reservation, we said we were coming for the seafood tower. We found out an hour in that they were not doing seafood towers. A waitress spilled a plate on one of our party and said nothing about it. They also gave us the wrong bill - WITH the tower.
