Found this place because my alcoholic best friend searched up "mimosas" on yelp. Besides the fact that i got lost in the cold rain looking for this restaurant, I had a good experience here. The pricing is decent priced for the neighborhood. In Georgetown, I was expecting higher than normal prices because of the hipster and growing food scene here. Everything was around $11 or less. And yes, they do have mimosas here. My friend opted for one of the scrambles while I got the corned beef hash. You never know what you're going to get when you order corned beef. Some places cook the corned beef in thick pieces. Here they cooked it just the way I like, thinly cut with peppers and onions on top of hash browns. Smarty Pants is a classic old school biker joint. Is that a bad thing? Of course not! In a city that has lost so much of its character to gentrification, it is not just praise, it is praise of the highest order. Located in Georgetown, the interior is dark and industrial, with motorcycle themed decor, including some bikes with cool chrome above the front door. It's seat-yourself and pretty no-frills. Someone will eventually bring you a menu, and be friendly but not waste time of too many pleasantries or chit chat. I've been here twice, once for dinner and again for brunch, and of the two, brunch was my favorite. The coffee was the kind of basic, yet solid, brewed cup that seems to have gone out of style, though I've never understood what was wrong with it that it needed to be improved on - when done properly, as here. I had an egg dish with salsa and chips, which was all good, but what made it amazing was the hash browns - perfectly browned potato shreds well seasoned with garlic salt. Hearty and delicious. Us four came here for lunch on Friday. I ordered the Chicago Italian Beef. Waited for about 25 minutes before we got our sandwiches. Everybody else's sandwiches looked fine, well, except for mine. It was double wrapped in foil and sandwich paper. Lemma tell you one thing. I love my sandwiches fresh. When I get my sandwiches or burgers it's got to be fresh and eaten immediately. No sauces, lettuce or tomatoes to sog up my bread while it's wrapped up in a to-go bag. Back to my sandwich...It came double wrapped, bad sign, and when I unwrapped it I was highly disappointed to have the entire sandwich fall apart because the bread was just mushy and saturated from the juices of the beef and cooked vegetables. The bread became a mushy texture that stuck to your fingers. I bet my sandwich was the first to be made, wrapped and left on the counter until the other three sandwiches were prepped. Tried the Ms. Piggy and the Turkey & Avocado sandwiches. Both were great but surprisingly enough, the Turkey & Avocado was more messy than the Ms. Piggy. I assume this had to do with the tomato, mayo and avocado causing a lot of slippage. 1/3 of my turkey had slipped out as I ate, compared to Ms. Piggy where all the bbq sauce and pork remained inside with each bite. Still solid after years of serving up the goods. Heck; if anything the food is even better! I love the gritty, industrial motorcycle theme here, and the rotating taps are bomb, as they should be in hop-crazy Georgetown. The music was on point, rebel rock and punk with some psychedelic thrown in, not too loud. I love it when the staff has the sense to adjust the volume to fit the conversational din in the place, so you don't have to shout. The breakfast menu here, was... huge. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy, on recommendation from my friend sitting across from me. :p She ordered them with Chirizo, I had them with sausage. Our other companion had the Eggs in a Basket,... I think that is what they called it. Anyhow... The server said the biscuits are baking and would be another 15 mins. Sure thing! We will wait for hot biscuits... IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN! The decor was fun to look at, so... is this a biker bar or a biker themed bar? Oh... a SIDECAR biker themed bar. We asked about the name and our server said it was orignally called DareDevil, but they had to change the name. I think the name is great!!! When my friends told me we were coming here, I thought they were calling me a SMARTY PANTS. All in all, good breakfast. The gravy is mushroom based, so be aware, it was good though!! Popped in a few days ago for take-out to work... Ordered the Deluxe Grilled Cheese; otherwise passed on except the nice avocado spread was a neat touch and taste. It was good. The chips and salsa passed, as well, although the salsa leaked through it's paper cup in the box. I love the motorcycle theme (particularly the old school GP bikes). Motorcycles are awesome! The custom overhead rig for the projector is cool... one extra big screen to put the race on. It's unfortunate. Their outdoor area is open and welcoming and there is one fire pit that you can sit around. Other seating options are long picnic style tables that are casual but polished and nicer than the ones you would see at a park. So what went wrong? 1. We waited over 30 minutes for two Bloody Marys. We had forgotten that those were ordered. 2. We waited another half hour for 3 breakfast dishes. The hash browns were hard and under seasoned. I had a chicken/cheese/egg dish, and without ketchup or hot sauce, it was bland. 3. My sister's omelet was barely warm, and the cheese on top looked like it was sprinkled on top at the last minute. So after an hour wait, she either got something that had been sitting on the counter for awhile, or somehow that wasn't cooked all the way? Slow service, below average food, why return? read more

Came here with my sister for dinner and drinks (She is a local) and I was pleasantly surprised! The sandwich I had was AMAZING. Have you ever bitten in to something and tasted every flavor on the way threw? The bread, was crispy. The aioli bitter, the crunch of the pickle and the brine, the roast and texture of the meat, the salt of the cheese, the creaminess of the aioli on the way to the bottom bread! It was an explosion of flavor and it was perfection on a plate! The waitress was tatted out and an absolute delight to visit with. This past Saturday my significant other and I rolled into Smarty Pants at the crack of noon. We ordered numerous things but this narrative revolves around the eggs - over medium. When the plate came the first time, the eggs were fried into a hard disc that you could pick up with your fingers and spin around. Picture attached. The server agreed and said he would be back with another order. The order that came next was basically raw. Photo attached. The server came and looked at them and then offered some personal opinion on the chef. I declined to have more eggs cooked. Later, we heard someone behind us ordering eggs over medium. I chuckled. That poor bastard has no idea what's in store for him! Then I hear the server tell him that he can't have eggs that way. That the cook cannot prepare them. The over-medium-egg-seeking citizen pointed out that is an accepted method of preparation, but I think went with something else in the end. The server was nice and did discount my meal. I love the deck! A pleasant place to wile away an afternoon while people bring you tasty beverages. The Frito Pie is inspired. Always ask for extra Fritos. read more

After reading the good reviews here on Yelp about Smarty Pants and Michele B marriage to their hash browns I had to give them a try, I love good hash browns. Saturday morning the boy and I ventured over to Georgetown for breakfast. I decided on the biscuits and gravy and the boy went with the Tex Hex. The biscuits and gravy were served with two eggs served any style and the infamous hash browns. My eggs were perfectly cooked, over medium and the hash brows were crispy and tasty and wonderful the biscuits and gravy were meh, the biscuit was HARD, very hard and the gravy was unlike any thing I would have imagined, it was a mushroom gravy with big slices of mushrooms in it and it was a bit cold, and kind of reminded me of cream of mushroom soup. The boy and his Tex Hex I felt bad I picked the place and he wasn't happy with his pick. He did like the scrambled eggs and the hash browns, but the chili that it was topped with was cold and as he put it kind of gross. It looked gross and smelled bad but hey that's what he gets I told him to go with the huevos panteros instead. The question now is would I go back, yes for the hash browns and I'd try something else like the breakfast burrito or one of their scrambles, they do eggs very well along with hash browns. Sat outside with friends on a late summer afternoon. Excellent (and I mean excellent) table service and nice beer selection, although the kitchen was slow. Wish there had been a bigger table or a way to combine two tables as our group was a wee bit large for what was available. It's ok, we snuggled and it was all fine. The outdoor space is quite nice. Subtracting one star because I really wasn't wowed by the food. All soggy, salty mess without any distinct flavor or texture. I think the Georgetown allure of a rainy Sunday afternoon greatly contributes to the positive review of Smarty Pants. Something about the area reminded me of Berlin (the "poor but sexy" nostalgia was going strong this particular gray day) and as a Berlinophile I could not downplay my enthusiasm. I had never been to the Georgetown area before, so there go bonus "novelty" points to the whole experience. Something about the restaurant reminded me of my first high school job: waiting tables at a sports bar that served pizza. Take away the pizza, replace it with good sandwiches and motorbiking paraphernalia and voila: you have one smart set of pants (Smarty Pants, if you will). I can only comment on the indoor seating -- the outdoor seating was not as endearing as the central interior table with a view to the outside for me and a view to the large screen showing some ... sports game or other... for my boyfriend. Service was friendly and helpful, albeit a bit delayed at times... but that's ok, my memories of serving food 30 minutes to closing on busy Sunday afternoons at my first job reminded me how being the only server in a frantic environment can cause delays (recall my pizza pub sports bar history). Any place that offers a non-meat-eating (a "nomeating," if you're into abbreviations) person such as myself the option of substituting Field Roast for meat has already accomplished a grand task. I had the reuben sandwich with potato salad. The potato salad lives up to its Yelp name: it's delicious! A bit on the salty side however, a property which honestly has no effect upon my opinion of it. I am pretty sure my thyroid will thank me for that one. First off, parking. There is a large lot across the street and plenty of on-street parking. You should not have a problem. Secondly, vibe. It's a biker dive bar. Exactly what are you thinking? There is bike art work on the walls, dirt bike videos playing on the two TV screens, and the furnishings are basic and homey. Now, let's talk breakfast. The cornerstone of any breakfast place is the drip coffee. Here, it is free-flowing and good. If the staff need to make more, it's worth the wait. For food, I got the corned beef hash, which came with two eggs and "toast" . This is my one complaint. Warm bread does not make toast. I like color on my toast. They brought warm bread. The eggs were cooked precisely to specification and the hash was a plateful of awesome. By plateful, I do mean the entire plate-serving size is on the generous side. Bonus-they give you stickers when they bring the check, and the stickers are cool as well. read more

A night out in Georgetown, took us to Smarty Pants for some food. First off, I love the atmosphere in this restaurant and then the food and service-awesome. Being a vegetarian I am always looking for a place with lots of choices and smarty pants did not disappoint. At the top of the menu they list that they can do any of their sandwiches with Field Roast which immediately made me happy! I ordered the lil' brat with field roast and what a treat! Also noted on the menu for veggie choices....hummus plate, nachos, salads, veggie chilli, veggie quesadilla and more. Sorry meat lovers I cannot review, but it looked like wonderful choices. This is another Georgetown Gem. Their name sums up their food... so damn good they deserve to be called smarty pants. Their menu is extensively huge. I would guess that they have at least 20 sandwich choices, plus a large selection of breakfast/brunch choices. I love their potato salad, and the homemade giardiniera that comes on some of their sandwiches should be sold in 5 gallon buckets! I've never gone for drinks, but they seem to have a pretty good selection of local brews to go along with their large selection of spirits. Give Smarty Pants a try!! read more

Wife & I decided to come here between breaks moving into a new house in Southpark; the Georgetown location being a brief albeit unimportant factor for consideration after we read the yelp reviews. Went back again to Smartypants during a Happy Hour and found that they have a great deal! Weekdays from 5-7pm there is a choice from 3 of their best selling sandwiches as a mini served in a basket for $7 bucks, as well as $3.50 quesadillas. It's a great deal for tasty food at Happy Hour! I like that you can try several sandwiches at once. Most all of the selections are awesome.. I have tried most of them! The Troublemaker and Miss Piggy are still my favorites. mmm saucy! I love their nachos and quesadillas during their 4-6p Happy Hour specials and I always order the pear cider that they have (in the bottle, served with a clean glass for yourself to pour. Get out of the way this is sandwich perfection. You will not only love this place you will crave it. When it comes down to it, is there really any better solution to a "i can't figure out where to eat" debacle than a really damn good sammie and sides? Yeah I didn't think so. This place covers it all from gourmet grilled cheese to bacon, avocado, turkey, bbq pork, grilled chicken bliss... with the best potato salad your gonna find north of... well anywhere. It's a good thing I waited to do this review until now because I recently discovered they do brunch! I was there for happy hour and enjoyed the sliders, the tacos, and more sliders, followed by more tacos. The Troublemaker was by far my favorite, and even after making dinosaur noises while eating more food than should be legal, I then decided I needed to order a full sandwich to go, so I could really go full on land beast prior to bed. This is one of the few happy hours that goes until 7pm and they have some great HH options. $2 tacos, quesadillas, sandwich samplers, $2 PBR's and $1 off drafts. There is a motorcycle theme throughout and they always have races playing on the tv and usually some good music in the background. The inside is pretty small, the bar only holds about 5 or 6 people but there's a good amount of table seating. The best spot is on the patio when the weather is little nicer. The $2 tacos for HH never disappoint and they always have great local drafts to choose from. Now if you're on a budget the tacos and PBR's will have you more than satisfied for under $20. Highly recommend Smarty Pants for happy hour and the fact that it's from 4-7pm is a huge plus! read more

Sunday Brunch is a yes! Stopped here after noon arrival at SeaTac. Wanted eggs. I got the Troublemaker Pileup, Mike the Black Shadow omelette. Hearty portions, served with hashbrowns. The Pileup was outstanding: grilled chicken and onions are flavorful, spiced with bacon and pepper jack. Piled on top of scrambled eggs. Yummm. Sauce on the side is hot, be judicious! Went to Smarty Pants with a bunch of folks after a yelp event in the neighborhood last night. A very busy Friday night, it seemed like there were only two waitresses on staff, so getting their attention was bit difficult and we didn't get menus for quite some time. That much said our waitress was very nice. I had the Miss Piggy sandwich with salsa (actually ordered slaw but after waiting that long I was just happy to get anything). Sandwich which seems to be an interpretation of pulled pork is fairly good but not up to the level of the Paseo or Baguette Box. Salsa in small quantity was pretty tasty though I am not too sure of the chips which seemed to be made with wheat. Seems like a very fun bar environment decorated with motorcycles and racing art. Food could be a bit better. Street parking was plentiful in the area. read more

We were early for a local tour and checked Yelp for somewhere to get a quick bite of dinner. Smarty Pants sounded like just what we were in the mood for on this rainy night - good food, reasonable prices and a cozy atmosphere. Don't get a salad here. I made the mistake and should have followed my friends advice about ordering salads at a bar-never order a salad at a bar. Tried to be healthy and got a taco salad with carne asada. Thought it was a legit upgrade but it was ground beef with taco seasoning. Technically it may have been "carne asada" but no one in my group of friends would consider ground beef "carne asada" and I doubt anyone would consider that acceptable in a taco. Smarty Pants is one of my favorite sammich places in Seattle. They've got many tasty sandwiches to choose from and most of them are really, really good. You can't go wrong really. They are large in size and most are served on huge flat french rolls. I usually hit this place up before heading next door to the 9lb Hammer for drinks (Smarty Pants has a full bar too). Came here for lunch with my work cohorts. It's a neat looking space. The place was fairly busy, and service was fairly slow. The people were pleasant. The Chicago Italian Beef sandwich was okay. I'd like to say it was good, but really, it was lacking in flavor. It was moist, and had the pickled vegetables, and whatnot. It wasn't bad, but it's not worth writing home about. It was a decent size, and I didn't leave hungry. The chips and salsa side was disappointing. The salsa came in a little paper cup, and was hard to manage, and there really wasn't enough of it for the chips. The chips weren't bad, but seemed like they came out of a bag. I believe my cohorts fared better than I. One said the meatball sandwich was tasty, and the other had the Troublemaker and was impressed with it.
