    French Dip

Smarty Pants is a cool, no frills restaurant and bar in Georgetown. Located in a really cool area next to some awesome stores. There is no frills here- standard seating, typical bar. Food is fantastic- myself, and the three people with me all loved our sandwiches. Italian beef was delicious- I would pass on the potato salad. French Dip was scarfed down- one of my husband's favorite French dips- in his words. We all shared the chips in queso as an appetizer- was shocked how spicy it was, but was very addicting. My only reason for 4 stars is that two of ordered Moscow Mules and we were brought what we thought were Whiskey Sours- definitely not what we ordered. Our server seemed to be the bartender and server- so she was busy! Overall highly recommend for decent drinks and bomb sandwiches.

Chicago Italian Beef and Taylor Street Italian

Food: we split the Chicago Italian Beef with provolone cheese and the Taylor Street Italian. The Italian beef was superb--wouldn't change a thing. The Taylor Street was mediocre--the cold cuts were whatever and it needed some sort of zing. For sides, the green salad with bleu cheese dressing was outstanding, thanks to the house-made dressing, but the chips and salsa were lackluster due to the stale chips. The salsa was good. Service was top notch--attentive, friendly, and timely. Ambience: I like old buildings, so this was right up my alley. The restaurant was clean and had an upbeat vibe. The seating was hard on the butt and back.

Picked up the road runner on iceberg instead of mixed green, one of the best salads I've had in a long time. Tons of chicken (more chicken than salad), fresh vegetables (slacking on the tomato haha) and super delicious dressing. This is my new go to!

Service was awesome and the food was amazing. We had the Chicago Italian beef, troublemaker, scamp and the chef salad. All sandwiches were absolutely delicious. The troublemaker was insane with great flavors!!!! My Italian beef was so good w a perfect amount of spice. Can't wait to come back! Cheers

Food is good and made to order. No pretentious food intentions here. You hungry they got you. Decent collection of spirits. Meg our server was perfect. She's no amateur. Interior is industrial with motor memorabilia with a couple TV. Patio. It has a couple cool shops on the block. 4*'s because of parking. Other than that *****

First time here and we were not disappointed! Service was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered Breakfast Tacos and Chilaquiles Verdes. Everything was delicious and was served pretty quick! We also ordered a Bloody Mary and an Orange Crate. Both were good too. We will be back next time in the area!

This is my favorite place to stop for brunch when back home visiting Seattle. I love their troublemaker sauce! Every time we go in the servers are extremely pleasant and offer friendly banter on football game day! They have a indoor seating area and also an outdoor seating area.

After a multi year absence, I met a friend here tonight for happy hour and - as far as the Georgetown dive bar scene goes - Smarty Pants didn't disappoint. It's still got that under-the-freeway vibe, strong drinks, a great taplist, and tasty eats. The service is more than friendly, and it's an excellent place to people watch as various local characters stroll the sidewalk outside. Overhead, 80s hair bands rock the speakers. Because, after all, you gotta fight for your right to parrrrrtayyyyy! Thanks, Smarty Pants, for still being you.

No frills bar with food. Good selection of beers and drinks are good. Dive-y joint with a little outdoor patio that is dog-friendly. They were a little understaffed when we were there but still super nice.

A great sandwich has great bread and Smarty Pants has great bread!! Look at all of the toppings that are included on the Taylor Street Italian! Bite after bite did not disappoint. The homemade potato salad is a must!! It has the right amount of flavor that it makes you want more! Service was quick and friendly! The patio outside extends the amount of people they can serve, as well as accommodate larger parties, if needed! Definitely recommend Smarty Pants!!

Came here over the weekend and was able to get seated right away. On the weekends, they serve brunch, but we opted for lunch when we were there. They have an extensive menu with salads, sandwiches, and other various food choices. I ordered the french dip and it was the best french dip sandwich I've ever had. The au jus was very flavorful and the bread had a good crunch to it. My husband ordered the Chicago Italian beef sandwich, which was also very good. I would highly recommend coming here and definitely plan to come back.

After maybe a minute or two, we didn't even get a chance to look thru the menu, they asked us to move cause they got a large walk in group. They said they didn't make a reservation, but asked us to help them. Both of us were in the industry before so we know how it feels but we travelled long and far to Seattle so this was a bucket list item. They moved us to another window seat but all we could see were the rear of two military jeeps. Our server then took 15 minutes to ask us if we wanted coffee, another 10 to bring it to us, and then didn't provide spoons to stir in our sugar/milk. It was not busy. They also took 15 minutes to go back and forth with the chef in regards to my girlfriends allergy, and then came back saying they are too busy to accommodate. All they would have needed to do was take a clean frying pan out. There were 4 people in the kitchen, and about 15-20 customers in the restaurant, 10 of which were already served. We decided to finally leave after this mess of a service and leave our mostly full coffees on the table. The server really brought us our bill after all that. AND THEY CHARGE 20% AUTOGRAT. For it being less than half an hour before closing, it was packed inside, with two sections of seating for various group sizes, and a casually loud interior with a counter full of water jugs and glass cups in front of a nice plant backdrop with the name of this place in lights. Menu serves a ton of Asian fusion dishes along with some regular entrees and a ton of cocktails and wine. From my sis's recommendation when she went, I got myself the banh mi smash burger after deciding between that and the Pho-rench dip my brother-in-law had. My friend got himself the La Vong fish sandwich, which I didn't get to try though we both did split an order of honey sriracha Brussel sprouts. - For the banh mi smash burger, think of ALL the essential ingredients of a standard banh mi sandwich; then put in a regular beef patty, throw in lemongrass beef as the other meat and add provolone cheese as a complement to the pate-mayo spread. That's what this is in a nutshell, and it tastes exactly like a banh mi sandwich as a result, only in burger form. This was an absolute hit and win for me; beef patty was juicy, condiments were fresh, lemongrass beef was equally as juicy, and the side of fries made this a very filling dish! - I normally don't like Brussel sprouts because of their similar taste profile to asparagus, but I ate a ton of the honey sriracha Brussel sprouts from here. It's sweet and tangy, both of which mask the oddly earthy and bitter tones of regular Brussel sprouts. They're also roasted which further gets rid of that bitter taste I don't enjoy. We rushed a little eating since they were close to closing but we loved everything we got here! I should start keeping a list of places like this one for places I need to make a second and even third visit to for their other dishes.

What a gem in a cozy neighborhood!…read more I don't usually venture out to beacon hill often, but I gotta say I'm very impressed. The casual restaurant-in-the-front-but-open-backyard-in-the-back concept worked very well for me. Just the way it opens up to a whole new different area was nice, although I've seen other places do it much more poorly. Food was great too. We had a single patty burger and some fried chicken. Despite being a single patty option, as opposed to the double patty option, it still was a hefty volume of food and the flavor was well done. I got the pickles on the side and that was great as well. I haven't had much experience with "Guamanian" food, but I'm delighted by it now. The fried chicken was also very well done. Not too greasy and not too dry. Just walking that fine line. I loved it. Mac salad could be slightly softer but that's a bit pick in my view. The service was great as well. Most of the food for our group of 10 ish all came out together, so nobody had to awkwardly eat food alone while the rest of the group stare with jealousy. And the waiting staff was generous about not being able to make food decisions quickly. I thank them for their patience. All in all, surprising little restaurant in the neighborhood that I usually don't go often.
