Glad to see this location finally open! Got a to go order of the classic smash burger with cheddar, bbq sauce, smash sauce, grilled onions & lettuce/tomato as well as smashfries. Food came out very quick and it was realistically the perfect meal for under $20, which I haven't gotten in a long time. The fries were some of the best i've had with the herbs, crisp without being burnt, and no salt which I prefer. Burger was seasoned and just an all around good burger. I can't really speak to the service, but I will be a semi regular for my burger fix! read more

Smashburger was just ok, there are bunch better burger options available. The burger was small, I prefer a big honking juicy pattie, this one was small and juicy. The flavor was good, lettuce, tomato and onion toppings were fresh and delicious; but the burger was small. Onion ring# really brought this review down for me, they were not the most flavorful rings around and cost $4.50 for 6 meh onion rings is an outrage, hence the 2 star rating. The Smashburger located in Alexandria, VA. is in a nice shopping complex. The Double Classic Smashburger was served hot and fresh today. One of the better burgers I have had in a while. Plain, without the sauce is the way to go. The fries were hot and not overly salted like many other chain burger restaurants. The restaurant was very clean, and the staff were polite and friendly. SmashBurger finally open in Kingstowne!!!!! My husband and I both got the double smash burger, his with no tomatoes and mine with no pickles and no tomatoes. We also got an order of smash fries and smash tots. The burger was great, just as I remember it when a location opened in my old stomping grounds of Moco. In the future however, I'll stick to a single patty.. the double personally is too much for me. Even though they were really busy, we got our food in less than 10 minutes. We ordered ours to go but there were plenty of chairs and tables inside if you would like to eat there. There's also a full service bar inside! Got smashed by Smash Burger. I came here with my wife for the first time thinking it's another one of those burger joints but I was blown away. I ordered the Double Classic Smash burger with Smash tots. The burger was juicy and delicious with healthy portions of the veggies. And the smash tots were crispy and perfectly seasoned to taste the rosemary and garlic! The various lemonade/tea drinks were very good as well (prefer it over the Panera bread tea drinks). They are terrible!! I was so shocked at how long it took to get food out. Waited AT LEAST 45 mins for my food AND the order was wrong when I brought the food home. I ordered three burger three fries and check one tenders. There order systems is severely Flawed. And the manager was in the back moving bags of frozen French fries around and doing EVERYTHING but coming up front to help get orders out. At one point I saw a customer who I knew ordered "dine-in" before me literally walk up to the counter, ask one of the workers for a "to-go" order that was sitting on the counter, the worker GIVES the order to the customer, and the customer bring the food to her table to eat while she waited for her actual order. What is a smashburger? A smashburger is made by starting with a ball of ground beef made from never-frozen Certified Angus chuck and steak trim. The beef is ground via a process that more closely resembles being cut with knives instead of extruded (so it holds onto its juices and the fat stays in). The raw meat ball is placed on a butter-brushed 385°F griddle. The meat ball is smashed down for 10 seconds. Smashing creates a deep caramelization, and it sets up a loose and tender texture that forces juices to bubble up through the burger. After 90 seconds, the burgers are scraped off the griddle and flipped with a spatula that's sharpened every morning. They are done after three minutes. A special seasoning is sprinkled on the patty while it is cooking. The seasoning has kosher salt, black pepper, garlic, all natural beef flavor, and grounded triple roasted chicken skin. So, my wife and I decided to give them a visit. They have a bar that serves beer (draft and cans) and cocktails. The menu has more than beef burgers. They have a Cobb salad, chicken sandwiches, a turkey burger, a black bean burger, chicken tenders, chicken wings, and kid's meals. No desserts except for shakes made with Häagen-Dazs ice cream or non-dairy Eclipse ice cream. We tried 4 items. 1) Brussel Sprouts They were cut in halves and deep-fried until the exterior was charred. They were greasy and not seasoned. Surprisingly, the greasy brussel sprout flavor, charred flavor, and ranch dip went well together to make this quite flavorful. Think of it as a healthier alternative to fries. 2) Smash Sweet Potato Fries They have regular sweet potato fries also. Smash means they put rosemary, garlic, and olive oil on it. Only 10 cents extra charge. It added a hint of flavor that was garlicky, peppery, and woodsy. It went well with the sweetness. The fries were cut thin and fried slightly crispy. It was well made and much tastier than regular french fries. 3) Double Bacon Smash It had 2 smashburgers, American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise in a brioche bun. The burgers had crispy caramelization on the outside with an interior that was tender and juicy. The flavor was beefy and savory. There were 2 layers of bacon. They were thick-cut and fried to a slight crispness. The smoke flavor was strong, which added to the savoriness. The brioche bun was soft and moist with a hint of sweetness. It came with 2 slices of cheese, fresh lettuce, and slices of roma tomatoes. Overall, this was a great tasting bacon cheeseburger that was loaded with umami! 4) Double Avocado Bacon Club It had 2 smashburgers, mashed avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, ranch sauce, and mayonnaise in a multigrain bun. The burgers were the same as above. Superb! The bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes were as good as above. The mashed avocado tasted like plain avocado with a little salt. The multigrain bun was soft and moist with a graininess that is usually found in high fiber bread. It had a strong wheat flavor. The ranch sauce and mayo helped by adding some umami. My wife enjoyed it. I thought it was good, but I'm not a big fan of avocado. If I were, this burger would be ideal. This is the healthier version of a smashburger. The service was polite, patient, and helpful. The dining areas and restrooms were very clean. You need a code to unlock the restroom doors. Ask an employee. There are 2 restrooms. This is the first Smashburger in the DC area to have a bar! The bar had 10 chairs, 2 stools, and 3 big screen televisions with 2 more big screen televisions on the opposite wall. There are 32 seats in the bar area and 13 seats in their other dining area. The casual, well-lit minimalistic fast food atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed but not conducive to a bar atmosphere. It's an interesting experiment. We'll see if it works. My wife and I have been to the Smashburger in DC before. The food was the same in quality and flavor as this place. I recommend getting the shakes, smashburgers, brussel sprouts, and sweet potato fries. If you want their ultimate in savoriness, get the Smoked Bacon Brisket Smashburger! read more

We used to love Smashburger and we ordered it at least once a week, but the last two times we have ordered, the meat smells and tastes off. My husband noticed it first, and this most recent time I definitely noticed it. I am not sure if they have changed anything in their process but it definitely is different and not pleasant. Further, the sweet potato fries used to be thicker and edible, now they are all basically burnt thin pieces of cardboard. Same with the chicken tenders. Over fried and impossible to bite into without breaking a tooth. They also stopped giving us the white sauce for the Brussels sprouts and it was half the reason why we ordered their Brussels sprouts. Lastly, the orders always take FOREVER to fulfill, doesn't matter if you order it yourself in store or on DoorDash. All of these reasons will probably have us discontinuing our patronage of this restaurant. If they don't care about quality and service, it's not worth it! I got a classic turkey burger with cheese ($7.69), some smash tots (spicy tater tots, $3.79), and an oreo shake ($6.39). The smash tots were great. The turkey burger could have been better. It seemed to have fillers like chicken sandwiches from KFC or Chick-Fil-A. The cheese sliced seemed like Velveeta instead of regular American cheese. First experience, never going back. We ordered $80 worth of burgers for our family online. When I went to pick up, no one was happy inside. Also, no parking. You have to park in a lot across the street. The staff were incredibly slow and unresponsive for how unhappy the customers were standing there waiting. One customer actually had to step up and start handing out to-go orders since the staff wouldn't, which was how I finally got my bag of food. Once I got home, we discovered they disregarded requests we had listed on our order. My husbands brisket sandwich had bacon when we had ordered without it, and I didn't even get my gluten free burger, so here I am standing in my kitchen at 8pm making a protein shake for my dinner. OMGEEEE! My first time here and I was thoroughly impressed. I had the black bean truffle mushroom burger with all the fixings, and Swiss cheese. I had a side of grilled Brussel sprouts to go along with the burger. DELICIOUS!!! To drink I had the Mardarin Cardamom punch. Perfect! I'll also give an A+ to the staff members.
